First thing's first... my lovely reviewers:
chocoluvr: Thank you! I think that Queenie is unfortunately going to stay with Grindelwald for at least a while now before realizing the error of her ways.
Chiara Polairix Edelstein: Thank you! I really love the Queenie/Vinda friendship as well, and I think they're going to be really close friends eventually. And Jealous Ex Grindelwald is one of the best things to ever happen to me because he can't control himself when it comes to Albus, even when his actions are risky. It was a risk to ask Newt why Dumbledore was so fond of him when Gellert was posing as Graves because it was extremely out of place and suspicious, and then by bringing Dumbledore up a second time at the mere sight of Newt is super suggestive as well. He's so jealous and so petty, and I live for it.
TheLittleCatmole: Thank you! I *really* want to say more and explain what I meant by that, but I'm not going to yet! I am going to post a chapter explaining who I think Credence is and how he's related to Albus. It will make sense, I promise.
Moonswan: Thank you - I really think that there is more that has gone on between Grindelwald and Queenie than what we've seen. We know for a fact that there were Grindelwald and Queenie scenes that were filmed early on but were removed and never finalized. I think that there is just as much unsaid between them as there is said, due to the fact she is a master Legilimens and he is a master Occlumens. That might be why some of the scenes were scrapped. It's awkward to try to capture thoughts on film, especially unspoken thoughts between two people who have their mouths closed.
Okay well, hold on, guys. It's time for a Grindeldore update.
On the digital release of Crimes of Grindelwald, there is an extras area... at least in the iTunes version of the release. And, for some reason, it's like I'm the only person on Tumblr who has access to a ton of stuff? So I've been posting a ton of stuff and blowing everybody's minds.
JK Rowling talks about the Albus Dumbledore/Gellert Grindelwald relationship. I am transcribing that part here for your reading pleasure because it's going to impact what I write next. I already have other chapters currently written, but I was waiting for this until I post. You can expect new chapters soon.
The Official Word on Grindeldore
JK Rowling: [Dumbledore/Grindelwald] was the part of Potter that I was most interested in revisiting because the relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore is key to making Dumbledore, Dumbledore.
Heyman (I think - could be Yates): They were both young men, and they had this idea of making the world better. And fundamentally, they basically drifted apart because Dumbledore felt what Grindelwald was advocating, ultimately, was wrong.
JK Rowling: Their relationship was incredibly intense... it was passionate... and it was a love relationship. But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. You can't know. You can believe you know. So I'm less interested in the sexual side, though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship, than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other... which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships.
Johnny Depp: I am positive that there was a mutual respect of one another's abilities, and I'm sure, especially with Grindelwald, a jealousy, so maybe a bitterness over having such... love and respect... for Dumbledore.
Yates: There are scenes in the movie where I was very conscious of wanting to try to suggest that Dumbledore still held this affection for Grindelwald. There is not just regret but there is still a love that existed between the two men.
Jude Law: There's a sense of loneliness to him, terrible loneliness, and isolation where I feel he's separating himself, and almost imprisoned himself at Hogwarts.
Heyman: At the end of this film, we discover that Credence is in fact Dumbledore's brother. You can see how important that is for Grindelwald and for Dumbledore.
JK Rowling: It's at the absolute heart of what the issue is between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
Yates: This is a relationship that is compelling and profound and authentic and alongside all the bells and whistles of adventure and fantasy and beasts and everything else, there is this story about these two men who loved each other and, ultimately, have to fight each other. It's the story for the twenty first century.
That's it - it's been said directly by JK Rowling and it is stored on camera sooooooooo Grindeldore is 100% canon.
So, what's coming for this fanfiction?
I'm going to posting new chapters containing more missing scenes that I believe happened. The first one will be what happened to Grindelwald while he was imprisoned by MACUSA and how it relates to Dumbledore. Then I'm going to go back to summer of 1899 and add more things that have been revealed thanks to the deleted scenes involving Grindelwald, his visions, and Albus. I'm also going to explain what I think Credence's relationship to Dumbledore is.
Guys... Gellert and Albus were full-blown lovers, and Gellert is still in love with him. ****
When should you be seeing the next chapter? Sometime late tomorrow.
Thank you all for your support!
