As were leaving Mako stopped us. "Are you sure you're okay to continue Kalani?" Figuring out one of the world worst crime lords possibly has more control of your body then you do probably would stop most and I'd be lying if I said it didn't scare me out mind but I couldn't stop now.
"I can't stop now, stopping Amon is more important. We can focus on figuring out how to stop the voice after. If anything Yakone could probably helpus, no one hates Amon more than him …right?" Everyone was silent. "But, Korra you know I wouldn't hurt you right…" Don't make promises you can't keep.
"Of course I do Kalani. Besides, I'm sure I can take you and your silly little voice." She said jokingly punching me in the arm. We all let out a short laugh and hugged each other.
"Now c'mon we have to go stop Amon!"
We go the Arena and were shock. Mecha Tanks and posters of Amon were everywhere it was frightening. Still in our Equalist Uniforms we went in a stood on a balcony as if we were standing guard. Amon appeared on the stage and crowd started cheering. I took Mako's hand so he'd stop me if the voice got any ideas. This is it Kalani.
The crowded started going insane as Amon started his speech as he rose to his podium. "When I was a boy, a fire bender burnt down my poor family's farmhouse, killing everyone and leaving me permanently scared. That tragic event started my quest for equality."
"That's a lie Amon!" Korra shouted form the balcony. We all pulled off our masks. "Or should I say Noatak!" The whole crowd started booing and hissing when they saw us but Amon was frighteningly calm.
"Everyone stop." Amon said raising his hand. "We have nothing to worry about. Let's hear what she has to say." What was he planning?
"Amon has been lying to all of you! The spirits didn't give Amon the power to take peoples being away. He's using blood bending! Amon is a water bender!" The crowd gasped in disbelief.
"You're desperate Avatar, making up stories as a last resort."
"Your family wasn't killed by a fire bender Amon!" Korra said still fighting. "His father is Yakone!" Noatak is no longer my son!
"A truly amusing talk Avatar." Amon was laughing. "But I will show you the truth." He reached behind his head and started unmasking his face. As his mask fell down it revealed a naturally handsome man with an angry, horrid scar across his face. It couldn't be possible… Everyone gasped at the sight. "This is what a bender did to me!" After the image was engraved in everyone's mind he put his mask back on the crowd as furious.
"That avatar is lying!"
"Down with bending!"
"Wait! No!" Korra was trying to defend herself. "He's a water bender!" Just as she said that Mako let go of my hand and I turned to see what was wrong, we were being cornered by two Equalists…but they weren't attacking.
"They won't believe me!" Korra yelled.
"Let's just try and get out of here for now Korra." I said.
"I wouldn't leave yet avatar." We all looked at Amon again and pillars were moving up from the stage.
"No…" Korra said under her breath. Tenzin and the kids were gagged and tied to them. I shook my head in disbelief.
"But…they got away. We saw them get away!" You can save them Kalani, just let go then we can take out Amon. The voice was louder…he was excited…
"Tonight I rid the world of air bending forever!"
"Amon let them go!" Korra almost begged.
"You can come down and stop me Avatar." My body almost moved but I held onto the bars of the balcony.
"He's trying to provoke you Korra." Mako said trying to stop her from doing something rash.
"I don't care! We have to save them."
"The avatar needs to be reminded of the power I possess." We started walking to Tenzin, but Mako just in time shot lighting down sending Amon flying. As he was down we all jumped down on to the stage. Mako and Korra started fighting with the Equalist as I tried to untie Tenzin and the kids.
My hands started shaking as I tried to untie the bonds. Go to Amon, Now Kalani!
"No!" I said aloud and kept fighting. Take him out while he's down. There isn't even any water. There's water in places you wouldn't even know. My hands started shaking and water started forming around them. No. I couldn't the voice take control again, but it kept on persisting. Until I had enough of it.
"NO!" I shouted aloud and flung my hand to the side. The water easily sliced through all of the bonds. Tenzin jumped straight into the fight. You disappoint me Kalani! Listen to me or you'll end like Noatak! Obey me! I got a headache as the voice talked. I got all the kids and saw an entrance in the back.
"Mako, Korra, Tenzin! Let's go!" We all ran out of the door. Tenzin and the kids went to get Pema and the Baby as the rest of us went to stop Amon. We turned around and Amon was racing toward. Korra shot him with some fire then we all ran. Stop running Kalani! I fell to me knees.
"Kalani!" Mako came rushing over to me.
"I'm fine. Let's go." We ran into a room.
"Hide." Korra said. We scattered around the room. I hid behind a loose piece of wood. Coward. I was afraid Amon would hear my heartbeat.
We heard his steady footsteps he would walk…then stop…walk…stop. Then it got quite…very quiet…
"STOP!" Korra screamed at the top of her lungs. Go Kalani! For once the voice and I were on the same page. I shot up from my hiding spot and Korra was on her knees. My hand shot up and Amon started shaking. I could feel the power rushing through me veins…Good Kalani. Good girl.
"No…it can't be…NO!" Amon shouted. I lowered and lowered him till he was kneeling. It's like his body was in my hands…I could feel it crushing in between my fingers…I'm not a murderer… I started panting a little. Amon saw this moment of weakness and took it to break free. He got up automatically he was about to attack then Mako stopped him.
"Don't hurt them!" He was shooting fire balls one by one. But Amon was faster he had us all under his control in a second. We all kneeled before him he walked toward me and got very close to my face.
"I don't know where you learned that…trick…but I can assure you, you will never do that again. But not until I take care of your friend here." He walked over to Korra and places his hands on her temples.
"Korra!" Mako yelled. I tried to get up to help her but I couldn't move…I was surprised the voice didn't help me in anyway. Stay down! Noatak is helping… Korra's body laid limp on the floor. Her bending was gone.
"I told you I would destroy you." Amon said staring at her. Now you may go. I felt my body struggle to get up still in Amon's grasp. My hands started to gently rise.
"Sorry Kalani." Amon turned around swiftly making me jump, and I heard Mako groan in pain. I looked over and he was almost in tears. Amon pushed him through a wall, he was hovering outside.
"No!" I screamed. My hands shot up to him trying to pull him back. No Kalani focus on Amon. My arms move over to Amon, I could see Mako starting to fall. I couldn't let that happen. I fought against the grasp the voice had on me, tears streaming down my eyes. I manage to move one arm onto Mako while the voice kept one on Amon. I could still here Mako groaning in pain.
"It's me or him." Amon was teasing me…I've had enough of this. LET GO! NOW! YOU ARE MINE! My hands flung over to Amon and he fell to the floor. Mako screamed, I couldn't lose him. With tears streaming my eyes I screamed. Then I let go…I left Amon on the floor lifeless and pulled him back to me and quickly took him in my arms.
"Thank god." I grabbed onto Mako's shirt still slightly crying. He wrapped my arms around him. "Are you okay? I thought I lost you for a moment." He pulled me off and looked at me.
"I'm fine. Are you okay?" I looked at him, at his eyes. He was all I was focused on, I only saw him. There was nothing else on my mind, it wasn't crowded or foggy, and for the first time in a while…absolutely silent.
"I-I'm great." I said slightly laughing. It was like a new world was around me and I could take it all in. I had complete control over myself. I was about to hug him again but we were violently pulled apart.
"That was heartwarming, but I unfortunately have to break it up. I have never seen someone get the better of me like that." Amon walked behind us. "It's almost shameful to see such good bending go to waste…almost." He was raising his hands but before he could do anything there was a giant gust of wind that sent Amon flying outside. Mako and I fell from his grasp and we turned expecting to see Tenzin but Korra was there, conscious again. But we saw he get her bending get taken away!
"I-I can air bend!" Korra stood there shocked.
Mako and I got up and went over to the hole with Korra; there was no sign of Amon…Until a giant column of water came up with a mask less Amon was at the top. His scar was running down his cheeks with the water. We came here to expose him but he just exposed himself. The people watching the spectacle were cursing at Amon calling him a fraud. But before can even really react to what was happening Amon disappeared into the water. Mako tried to shoot him but couldn't, he got away. We watched for a minute but he was gone.
We all got in each other's arms, all relieved that the other is safe.
"Wow." I said breaking the silence. "It's over…it's finally over." I looked at Korra. "Are you okay?" She was silent for a moment.
"I-I lost my bending…" Both Mako and I knew what to say.
"Korra it will be okay-"
"No. No it won't." She looked at us as if we were crazy. "I'll meet you guys back at the island, I want to be alone." She started walking away leaving Mako and I worrying about her.
"We should start walking back." He suggested. He took my hand and as we started walking back.
