Author's Note: I have officially become that writer that only post very once in a blue moon and for that I am truly sorry. Please enjoy!
Rory's pov:
My hangover must have been playing mind games with me or maybe I'm still alittle drunk since I dreamt of one of the last weddings I attended. Reliving each horrible moment. Dad almost ruined everything for mom and Luke. I almost slept with Logan. The only good thing about that night was grandma and grandpa's official reconciliation. I think it was all just a mini-anxiety attack, which is weird seeing as it's not even my wedding. I should probably be more concerned with how the bachelor party went. When Tristan called, he might have have been drunk but he didn't sound miserable so I'm taking that as a good sign until I can get all the details. Coffee. That's what I need, what we all need. As I open my door I peek down the hall to the living room to see everyone in the various sleeping spots they claimed the night before. Oddly enough the coffee seems to be in the finishing stage of production and to my surprise, mom comes walking toward me.
"Good morning my beautiful offspring, I see you've sprung out of bed. I'll pour you some coffee."
"Who are you and what have you done with my mother? My mother would never be up so early after a night of tequila, or after any night. Plus she would never make such a cheesy pun."
"I'm just excited and I couldn't sleep is all. There's still so much left to do."
"Mom I told you to leave the rest to me, that's what a maid of honor is for. You just need to spend the day relaxing and getting pampered. Do I really need convince Lorelai Gilmore to go to the spa instead of work? Seriously who are you?"
"Okay okay. Don't be so dramatic, I'll relax if you keep me updated on everything you do."
"I refuse to feed into your stress. Be happy you're getting married tomorrow!"
"I am kid." Her smile filled me up with warmth and joy. I've never seen her smile like that, except maybe at my graduation and I'm sure she did when I was born, but it was just perfect. I may have dreamed my mom would get together with dad when I was little but I'm glad I grew up and was able to see how truly happy she could really be. I've decided it's my mission today to make sure that she is not stressed out and enjoys this time, which means I need reinforcements.
Tristan's POV:
As I open my eyes there is a brief second where I'm confused as to where I am but then I remember the scotch. I set up to see Kirk in the weirdest position, sound asleep. TJ is on the floor, laying on his stomach and snoring. Luke and Jess are at the table and Taylor is nowhere to be seen.
"Morning sleeping beauty."
"What time is it?"
"9am. I made something for the hangover if you care for some."
"Sure. What's in it?" As I walk to the table I see the suspicious concoction and regret to saying sure.
"Trust me it's better and safer if you don't know."
"I'm told it's a Dane's family recipe and was only just this morning told it exists he even gave me the recipe, isn't that swell? Also heads up it tastes like it looks but then again so did the scotch."
"Here goes nothing." Jess was right, it definitely tasted as bad as it looks. It did start working immediately although I'm convinced it was more from a placebo effect than it actually curing anything.
"Last night was quite the show."
"Thank god we had this party two days before the wedding. I'd hate to see Lorelai in the condition I'm in, let alone marry her."
"Oh I'm sure she's in the same condition but it's probably for the best given one of your groomsmen is still passed out on the floor."
"Remind me again why TJ is a groomsman again?"
"Your mother, that's why."
"She can be quite persuasive."
*knock*knock*
"Lady entering! Oh you are all up, well some of you. How are we this morning? Hello I don't believe we've had the pleasure, I'm Liz." She shook my hand and all I could think of is how was she even slightly related to Luke or Jess. I had always thought that Rory had exaggerated her.
"You came to collect TJ I presume."
"And to help my big brother get prepared for his wedding of course! I'm so glad you found your TJ!"
"Can I tell Lorelai she's your TJ? Pretty please?"
"Jess don't encourage her."
"So who is this fine looking young man."
"I'm Tristan mam. I'm Rory's boyfriend"
"Woah I am not a mam, do I look like a mam?"
"You better take it back or we'll never hear the end of it."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I was just raised to refer to any gorgeous older women as mam is all."
"Oh, well, i guess that's not so bad. Say Jess are you cool with him being here, I mean becuase you and-"
"Yes mom, you just missed the hand holding."
"Don't forget the skipping."
"Well I'm glad and I can't wait to meet that new girl of yours, maybe shes your TJ! I'll just collect TJ and be on my way but if you need anything big brother, and I mean anything-"
"Just ask. I know Liz." I watched as she woke TJ up from his deep sleep and he then proceeded to tell us all about his dream about starting a new civilization with Liz, Luke and Lorelai. She finally got him to leave and at some point during all of that Kirk woke up mumbling something about Lulu and cheese then left himself, we were just lucky he took the blanket with him considering he didn't bother getting dressed first.
"Since that concoction has done its job, I think I'll go see how the ladies are feeling this morning."
"I'll go with you, I have to speak with Rory about some of the wedding details. Are you good?"
"I'm marrying Lorelai tomorrow, so yeah I'm good." I haven't seen many emotions come from Luke but it was that statement and disbelief he had on his face that confirmed everything Rory had ever told me about Luke and his love for her mom.
*Later at the Crap Shack*
"Rory, are you here?" The scene we saw as we walked in seemed eerily familiar to our morning but with different characters.
"Kitchen!" We walked toward the kitchen and found Rory and Sookie at the table discussing wedding plans.
"Good morning you two, and how are we this morning?"
"We are all fine this morning, no thanks to Tristan and his scotch."
"You weren't complaining last night."
"Would you boys like some breakfast?"
"Yes."
"Yeah."
"Okay sit, I am dying to know how the bachelor party went."
Jess and I looked at each other, both contemplating just how much to tell her. Do we tell her about Dooseys? Our conversation outside the diner?
"Uh Oh."
"What 'Uh oh?'"
"Something happened."
"Nothing happened."
"What would even give you that idea?"
"You guys shared a look."
"We did not share a look."
"Hey I've known you both for a very long time and I know when a look is being exchanged so spill."
"Nothing happened, we drank, we bought chips, we drew faces on Kirk, we slept. It was your basic bachelor party."
"And Jess, where exactly did you guys buy chips?"
"Gee I don't know, the 24 hour chip store." The look Rory gave Jess and his sarcasm could have probably killed any innocent bystanders that were in her way and his brilliant response was: "Well stupid questions get stupid answers, where else in this podunk town is there to buy chips?"
"Aw man did you guys cause trouble at the market?"
"Of course not."
"Jess."
"Okay, okay, we might have had a little fun but we were doing it together, isn't that what you wanted? Us to be friends?"
"I guess." She seemed very sceptical but decided to let it go once Sookie served us food which was probably the most wonderful breakfast I had ever eaten.
"I almost forgot why I came over, is the gift all ready to go?"
"It sure is. And mom is none the wiser."
"Great, either is Luke."
"Perfect. Tomorrow is going to be perfect."
"I gotta say I am surprised you pulled this off, I mean when Rory first told me about the plan, I was shocked. What ever happened to just buying people a toaster or a blender for their wedding present? Seriously though, what you both pulled off is wonderful and they are gonna love it."
"SHHHHH Sookie is headed back this way and we all know she can't keep a secret."
"Who wants scones?"
"Me." We all answered in unison and dropped the conversation until we could be alone again.
