A/N: Whew! I've been so busy as of late, So I mega apologize for the wait for this chapter!
(I do not own One Piece just my OC, Haruna!) Now on with the story!
Chapter 25:
Money, Fame, and Power
"GET THEM!" One of the mind controlled town workers yelled out, pointing his gun towards Shachi and Rin. As Shachi and Rin continued to run through the dark halls of the mansion in attempt to escape the large armed mob of workers, who were now chasing them.
"Rin! We need to find a way out of here NOW! there are just too many of them!" Shachi yelled to Rin, who was currently running next to him.
"I know!" Rin replied, her voice raised in what seemed to be panic. Even though the whole idea of breaking into the mansion to steal the powerful stone with pretty much no back-up was her idea.
Both of them were breathing hard due to their constant running, as they turned yet another corner in the large mansion in hopes of finding their way back to the room with the hidden door that had gotten them into the mansion in the first place.
"You've got to be joking." Shachi said humorlessly, as he and Rin both stopped running looking forward at the dead end that they had just ran into.
"Your trapped now kitties, come with us or die. Your choice." A mind controlled worker sneered, gun in hand as he and the mob of workers now cornered Shachi and Rin.
Damn! even though they are just civilians I have no choice but to fight them anyway. Shachi thought to himself as he slowly began to move his hand to his side to reach for his own gun.
When suddenly with a sharp pain to the back of his head he was knocked unconscious hitting the hallway floor with a loud thump. For a short while everyone was silent as Rin then grinned over at the mob of momentarily shocked workers.
"Where is my father?" Rin questioned walking towards one of the workers as she took a tie from her pocket and tied her long black hair back into a ponytail, like she always wore it. Her personality now drastically changed, causing all the workers to now instantly recognize her as she stepped forward into the light coming from the lights they were holding.
"My lady we-uh didn't even know that was you! Your father is in the main dinning hall." A brunette worker said with a wide grin on his face, though it was easy to tell that behind that grin was fear.
Rin then said nothing as she walked past the whole crowd of workers, on her way to the dinning hall where her father was currently at.
"R-Rin-sama, what do you want us to do with this pirate?" Another one of the workers called out, causing Rin to stop and turn around towards the man who was looking over an unconscious Shachi.
"Bring him." Rin answered simply as she turned back around and continued walking towards the dinning hall. Not even bothering to wait for the workers who were dragging Shachi along behind her.
What in the world!? This-This is Law's wanted poster! Haruna thought to herself in shock, as she looked down at the kiss mark covered wanted poster in her hands.
I guess she has a thing for Law, though more importantly I've got to find out where she took Shachi! Haruna thought to herself as she then folded and stuffed the poster into her pants pocket, and hurried out of the room.
"Did you find anything?" Law asked Haruna as she walked back into the living room, all of the Heart Pirates now awake with a look of anger flashing in their eyes.
"As you thought she's gone too, there was no evidence or anything left behind in her room that might give a clue to where she and Shachi went though." Haruna said worry and frustration evident in her voice.
"You didn't find anything?" Bepo questioned again, having a feeling that there had to be at least something.
" Well...she did have this wanted poster of Law in her room.." Haruna said feeling somewhat embarrassed for the girl, as she took the poster out of her pocket and handed the kiss marked poster to Bepo.
Bepo looked confused as he looked at his Captain's kiss marked wanted poster, Law's own eyes slightly widening as he looked over Bepo's shoulder at what was indeed a picture of himself.
"Haha! Looks like she has a thing for ya' Captain!" Penguin laughed out looking over at Law, who's frown made it obvious that he didn't find it as funny as Penguin did.
"Wait! there's somewhere I forgot to look!" Haruna said suddenly as she rushed out of the living room through the hallway of the house. Until she was face to face with the one room she remembered Rin was strongly against her going into.
"Here goes nothing." Haruna thought out loud as she then turned the knob of the door and entered the room.
The room was what looked to be some sort of study, the inside was messy with papers and books sprawled out all across the room. Though what really caught Haruna's attention besides the mess, was the large pin board that hung on the left side of the room.
On the pin board was what looked to be a map of the island covered in labels. The most noticeable label on the map Haruna noticed was a place on the map which was circled and labeled with an capital "H".
The place that was labeled "H" was the place on the map where all the pins originated from, making it clear to Haruna that this was obviously the base in which everything was going on.
"None of these labels really give away anything, HEY! I've found something!" Haruna yelled out, as she turned her attention for a moment away from the pin board back towards the messy room with a sigh.
"Just what in the world is going on?" Haruna thought to herself for about the fifth time that night, running her hand through her hair in frustration.
"Is that a map of the island?" Law said walking into the messy room towards the pin board where Haruna was standing.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is. Though besides this place here labeled "H" which I'm guessing is the base, I have no idea what to make of it." Haruna said as she pointed to the circled place located on the far right side of the map.
"Hn, let's go then." Law said suddenly after only a short couple minutes of looking over the map.
"Wait, go where?" Haruna said as she followed Law out of the messy room feeling slightly confused.
"Where do you think?" Law questioned turning around to face Haruna, his hand resting on the hilt of his nodachi.
Making his intentions quite clear.
He was done stumbling around in the dark.
"Father! I've done what you told me." Rin announced to the Mayor as she walked into the large dining hall, tossing a still unconscious Shachi at The Ma-or better yet her father's feet.
He was a tall man, with a bulky muscular frame and almost shiny looking jet black hair which was slicked back against his head. His overall appearance looked nothing supernatural, just stern as he slowly got up from the dinning chair he had been sitting in and approached his daughter.
"This man is a part of that pirate crew that arrived here?" Rin's father questioned as he slightly kicked at Shachi's body.
"Yes, he is." Rin confirmed flipping Shachi over so that her father could see the Heart Pirates insignia on Shachi's clothing.
"Hn" Was all her father said in response as he then stepped harshly on Shachi's leg, causing the pirate to wake up pain.
"So I'm guessing you must be the man of the house?" Shachi said in a sarcastically bitter tone as he stared up angrily towards the Mayor and Rin.
"Watch your tone pirate." Rin's father replied sharply, while Rin looked towards Shachi with an uncaring expression.
"Just what is it that you two want!? Why are you even doing all of this? You already are Mayor of this island! What more can you want?" Shachi yelled out in frustration, tired of not having any answers. As he fought against the thick rope that bound both of his hands together,so that he could at least get on his knees to face the two of them more directly.
"I just want what everybody desires, power. Ever since the passing of White Beard in the War of the Best, pirates and merchants such as myself have been fighting to gain power. In the famous last words of the pirate Gold D. Roger- Money, Fame, power! these are the things that people most desire and now that I've been fortunate enough to come across this here stone, there's nothing that can stop me!" The Mayor ended with a laugh.
"Rin! Bring it here!" The Mayor barked out at Rin as she then quickly left the room, taking fewer than ten minutes before returning back into the room holding a large amber glass looking stone.
"I get it now. Your lure pirates and people here with the promise of supplies and rare items, then you use your daughter to play "little miss helpless" to lure them further into the island, so that you can eventually use that stone and force them to work under you like puppets!" Shachi said spat out angrily, though feeling more angry at the fact that he had been the one to fall for the scam.
"That's right. Though too bad that you couldn't figure that out a little bit earlier, don't you think?" The Mayor said with a laugh as he then took the stone from Rin's hands and faced it towards Shachi.
"You greedy bastard." Shachi hissed, his mind racing as he tried to figure out a way to escape.
"Though father remember you promised that Trafalgar would be mine!" Rin said in a whinny tone
"And so he will be! Just be patient!" The Mayor said in a almost scolding tone to his daughter.
"As if my Captain would ever be yours!" Shachi said with a humorless laugh, causing Rin to glare over at him harshly.
"Like you, He won't have a choice." Rin said with a smug grin.
Well that's all for now! I don't know what it is but my editing bar has been freaking out every time I try to work on this! :/ So I apologize in advance if some words and structure is off. Also I'm considering having this be the Final Arc. for this story, since Punk Hazard is a canon Arc. for One Piece and the more I think about it I would hate to change it around so much, I don't know what do you guys think?
