Discussing financial projections for the incoming years is as boring as it sounds. Compounding the natural boorishness of the subject, my colleagues seem to be too marveled by their cleverness to actually work with reality.
The new boss, a beautiful woman of Spanish origin, seems to be beyond irritated by them. I can only pity the poor fools, for she is known in the business world for her ruthlessness. By her expressions I can even predict which ones she will fire.
She curiously gazes at me trying to guess what I am doing–she is too smart to be fooled. She knows I am not really taking notes.
Maybe I should put my journal aside.
Maybe I should wink at her.
Or maybe I should just steer away from her path.
