Chapter Twenty Five: What Do We Do? We Wait…
As soon as Freya grabbed Bo and Kenzi's hands, the two knew that they were about to face a challenge unlike any other. Both Bo and Kenzi turned around, taking one final glance at their two blonde's who looked heartbroken and saddened, but knew that they had to let them do this.
"Take a deep breath… When you open your eyes you'll be in your Dawning Kenzi. I cannot give you much information on what you will face, ever fae goes through a different experience. You will know what you need to do to pass when you see it. Stay alive and be cautious of what you see. Bo will be beside you to help you fight. You both need to be mindful of what you shall face. When you complete your Dawning, you'll be sent to Valhalla where Alex and Tamsin will be waiting. Are you ready?" Freya asked as she looked at the two.
"Be safe…" Trick said as he gave a smile and nod to the two.
"Come back, preferably alive" Acacia said with a smirk.
Bo and Kenzi both smiled to the two elders, and looked back at the blonde's.
Tamsin was leaning against the back wall with her arms crossed, while Alex sat on top of the bar with her hands posting her up on the side. The two had glossy eyes and sad expressions but they both gave warm smiles and head nods to their girls.
"We're ready…" Kenzi said as she turned to Bo, "Right?"
"Right. Let's do this" Bo said as she smiled and gave a determined look to her bestie.
"Let the Dawning of the young Ember begin" Freya said as the three vanished into a beaming white light and were gone from the Dal.
Alex closed her eyes and sighed as she gripped the edge of the bar.
Tamsin clenched her fists and took a deep breath as she walked over to her younger sister. The Valkyrie held out her hand, which Alex grabbed as she hopped down.
"Well… What now?" Alex asked as she looked at her sister.
"Now we go home… To Valhalla. We wait, drink, perfect our fighting skills and get one hell of a welcome back party ready for those two. Come on, I'm sure we can find stuff to do around the afterworld to pass the time" Tamsin said as she threw her arm around her younger sister.
"Ugh…" Alex groaned as she leaned on her sister, "I've been to Valhalla one too many times lately"
"Dude I haven't been back in centuries, ergo why Freya told us to lay low" Tamsin said with a laugh.
"I'm sure everyone is gonna freak when they see us. Especially you" Alex said as she chuckled.
"Why?" Tamsin asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"YOU… Bonding with a Succubus, getting married to her, then magically getting her knocked up? Enough said" Alex spoke as she laughed.
"Damn, totally forgot I haven't seen anyone there since the big shebang. This should be interesting" Tamsin said as she rolled her eyes.
"That's one way to put it" Acacia said as she walked over to the two. "Alright bitches, get out of here and to Valhalla. Try not to fuck up but so much shit. You don't want to tip off Odin you're back before the Succu-bitch and baby fae get there. See you little shits there" Acacia said as she playfully shoved the two's heads towards the door.
"Alright kid, ready?" Tamsin asked as she rolled her neck and cracked it.
"Let's fucking go" Alex said as she grinned.
Tamsin looked down and smirked as she let her wings come shooting out from her back. The shadows fell onto Tamsin's face and her eyes blackened as she transported her and her sister to their old home in the meadow of Valhalla.
"That shit always makes me feel sick" Alex complained as she stuck out her tongue and shook her head.
"All these years I figured you'd be use to it by now" Tamsin said as she laughed and headed to the door. "Damn, this place hasn't changed at all, has it?"
Alex stopped shaking her head and looked around. The meadow of their old home was gorgeous, it was always their favorite part of being able to live outside the gates of the kingdom. Because of Tamsin's status and the fact that she claimed her younger sister, who was not a Valkyrie but an Ember from a dark bloodline who had attempted to destroy Valhalla, Freya arranged for the two to have a mid sized cabin in the hills and fields of paradise. Looking outside their front door was miles of grass that shined in the light and hills that seemed to roll on for eternity. The sun was setting which made the scene even more breathtaking.
"No… It really hasn't. Damn, I didn't realize how much I missed this place until just now. Growing up with you gone and being stuck around here always made me think of it as a prison but now… Wow…" Alex said as she softened her expression.
"It really is paradise isn't it?" Tamsin said as she walked up beside her sister. "I think that's another reason Freya wanted us to wait here for Bo and Kenz to come back. She probably knew we needed something to take our minds off of this shit storm and I mean what better place to go than here where we grew up. God the memories here…"
"Well how about we go and see if Freya and Acacia stocked the fridge for us and crack open some booze and reminisce T" Alex said as she elbowed her sister in the side.
"Now that's perfection in paradise. Come on kid, let's go get some vodka" Tamsin said as she grabbed Alex's neck and playfully shoved her sister towards the door of the cabin.
Kenzi and Bo opened their eyes at the same time.
"Oh fucking fae shit bitches… Did your Dawning look like this?!" Kenzi yelled as she spun her body around in a circle, looking at the land before her.
"No, definitely didn't! I showed up at the Dal! Kenzi where the hell are we?!" Bo asked as she starred wide eyed at their current location.
"We're in Russia, where my family is… Holy balls this is so not good" Kenzi said as she rubbed her arms.
From the look of their location, the two ended up in the town of a small Russian city. Traffic was buzzing all around them with horns honking, peasants on the streets, fights breaking out among the men and woman who occupied the sidewalks… It looked as though they appeared in the middle of a riot.
"What the hell is going on? What century are we even in?!" Bo asked as she grabbed Kenzi and yanked her out of the street just in time for the two to avoid being hit by a taxi screeching by.
"Oh Bo Bo honey, this is what it's always like here… Welcome to where I grew up… Why the hell did my Dawning send me here of all places?! What the hell could this have to do with anything?" Kenzi said as she shivered. It was winter time in Russia and the temperature was below freezing as snow fell from the sky.
"I have no idea but we better figure it out, and quick. God why couldn't we get some weather warning for this?! It's freezing" Bo said as her teeth chattered.
"If I had to guess this is the fae gods way of testing the baby fae Ember on that whole 'heating up your body in temperature changes' kinda deal. Here give me your hand, Alex kinda showed me something that may help. My house is 10 blocks from here and unless you have some Russian moolah shoved in all that leather we gots to walk" Kenzi said as she shivered. Both women were in sleeveless tops with jeans and boots so their clothes were nothing close to acceptable for the winter and it was in the negatives.
Bo reached over and grabbed Kenzi's hand as the young Ember closed her eyes.
"OW FUCK!" Bo yelled as she pulled her hand away quickly and shook it frantically. "Hot Kenzi! Hot! You're an Ember!"
"Ooops, sorry Bo Bo…" Kenzi said with a nervous chuckle. "I'm still learning the ropes with this biznatch. Here let me try again"
"Uhm I'm good…" Bo said as she cringed and held her hand close to her.
"Bitch give me your hand. You can Succu-sex someone later and heal if I make you go boom! You're pregnant magic vag and I'm not letting my god baby freeze! Plus I need to practice anyway, not like I got the whole training experience before we decided to do this" Kenzi said as she rolled her eyes.
"Oh joy, so I get to be your practice dummy for your fire powers while we're in your Dawning" Bo said as she pouted.
"Hey you volunteered to come with, sista" Kenzi said as she laughed. "Come on, I'll try to control it and not make you go up in flames"
"Fine" Bo groaned as she reached out and grabbed Kenzi's hand for the second time. Bo closed her eyes, preparing for the pain to radiate through her hand again and to feel the burning sensation that struck her before.
Kenzi took a deep breath and tried her hardest to focus on her powers. The heat. The fire. The inner determination she possessed and how she was trying to protect Bo, not burn the shit out of her. They were freezing and with Kenzi being an Ember who was new to the fae world, temperatures like this hit her harder than it would a human or an Ember of Alex's status.
Bo felt her hand heating up, and the heat slowly rushed over her whole body and rather than shivering and freezing in her current attire, Bo felt as though she was sitting by a fire and her body was warm all over. Bo slowly opened her eyes and glanced down to see Kenzi's hand glowing a faint orange with hers.
Kenzi still had her eyes shut and brow furred together deep in concentration.
"Not bad for a baby fae if I do say so myself" Bo said as she huffed out a laugh.
Kenzi cracked one of her eyes open and looked down to see that her plan had worked. She felt warmer and Bo wasn't shaking off a 2nd degree burn.
"Hells yes! Baby Ember 1, Dawning 0!" Kenzi said as she fist pumped.
"Alright champ, let's get moving and go see what's awaiting us at your home sweet home" Bo said as she laughed.
"Okay but first…" Kenzi said as she swiftly reached beside her and grabbed a black leather jacket from the chair of the woman who was paying no attention in their direction. "Put this on and shove our hands in it. Pretty sure if my Russian peeps see us walking around with our hands glowing like the ass of a lightening bug we'll be burned at the stake"
"Look at you, using your powers and street skills" Bo said as she laughed and threw on the jacket, quickly reconnecting her hand with Kenzi's and shoving them both in the pocket as they walked down the streets of Russia to Kenzi's childhood home.
"I try… Come on hoe bag, let's go and see what this shit is gonna throw at us. Also try not to look at the people down the streets. They don't take to kindly to lady lovers if you catch my drift so we need to be fast and bring the least amount of attention to us as possible or there's a slight chance we get jumped by the Russian mafia or some shit" Kenzi said as she quickened her pace.
"So freezing temperature and the possibility of getting our ass kicked… Well, it could be worse in the first five minutes of your Dawning I guess" Bo said as they turned down an alley way.
"Well, well, well… What do we have here?" A man said as he walked out from behind a dumpster.
"Kenny?" Kenzi said as she stiffened her body. "Oh this is bad, very very very bad" Kenzi whispered as she took a step back, never releasing her grip on Bo's hand.
Three more men came behind the tall black haired man and were now walking slowly down the alley. All of the men had jet black hair and were wearing dark clothing. The man who spoke first was currently playing with a large pocket knife and tossing it back and forth between his hands in a taunting manner.
"Okay, so maybe I spoke too soon…" Bo whispered as she gripped Kenzi's hand tighter.
