Chapter 24: Am I Pretty Enough?
Spring had ended and summer sun had been shining Japan since last three weeks, which meant for summer breaks. Last year, some of the chosen children went to camping in Digital World. As for this year, they decided to go to the beach for 3 days. Lucky to them that Mimi had a villa and they could use it as much as they wanted. The villa was big and had 6 rooms, which were quite enough to divide all of them together.
"Mimi-onesama was so riichhhh!" Miyako exclaimed as she threw herself in bed. "Right, Hikari-chan?"
"Maybe," Hikari said as she looked at Miyako who'd stood up and took something from her suitcase, and sweat-dropped soon. "Miyako-san…"
"Um? What?" she asked.
"Are you sure you want to wear… it..?" Hikari asked curiously as her finger pointed to 'something' that Miyako had been holding.
"Of course! I wanna show it to Ken-kun!" Miyako squealed excitingly. "See? This is cute, eh?"
"Anyway, Hikari-chan," she added. "have you prepared a bikini yet?"
Hikari sweat-dropped with Miyako's crazy things. Indeed, she heard that Mimi had helped Miyako to choose a cute summer underwear alas bikini with strips on it. On the other hand, Hikari wasn't interested with that at all. Not because of the size of her breasts, or maybe her body wasn't good, but she just didn't want to expose her whole body and white skin and received a whistling from boys.
"I've told you that I'm not interested with that, right?" Hikari said as she swapped her head. "I'll use my summer clothes,"
But she noticed Miyako had been smirking even before Hikari declared her answer. She looked at Miyako curiously and crossed her arms. She tried to read Miyako's face, before she blushed and stole Miyako's suitcase and searched something, and sighed in relief.
"What?" Miyako asked. "Oh, I guess you were thinking that I've prepared one for you, right?"
"It was one of your habit, right?" Hikari answered as she threw herself in bed. "You love to surprise me,"
But, there was something wrong with Miyako. She still smirked and can't stop it. Hikari glanced, trying to read her mind, and she can't. Soon enough, someone knocked the door, and they were none other than another the rest of the teenage girls. Indeed, the girls decided to separate their room. Mimi with Sora, Hikari with Miyako.
"Miyako-chan~ Hikari-chan~" Mimi squealed happily as she entered the room. "Have you been ready yet?"
Mimi had been wearing her bikini and exposed her body and breasts, which she had a good body and enough to make boys staring at her. Not only boys, but also to both younger teenagers, and Miyako's eyes sparkled as she looked at her Mimi-onesama.
"MIMI-ONESAMA, YOU LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL!" Miyako declared happily. "Sora-san?! So, you are decided to wear bikini too?!"
"Taichi-san told her that Yamato-san wants to see her with bikini," Mimi said as she laughed and smirked to Sora.
"Mimi-chan!" Sora said.
"So is it?" Miyako answered innocently before she smirked as well. "On the other hand, Takeru-kun wants to see someone in bikini~"
Miyako and Mimi looked at Hikari curiously, before they could smirk and look at each other. Hikari sweat-dropped, knowing that Miyako's statement referred to her. She swapped her head and looked at the view over the window.
"I guess Hikari-chan will still continue her point of life," Sora said as she laughed a bit and sat next to Hikari. "why don't you want to wear it?"
Hikari turned away and looked at the girls curiously. "Sora-san," Hikari said seriously. "for the last time, I will tell you that I'm not interested with that,"
"But, Takeru-kun is interested with it!" Miyako replied her happily.
"Miyako-san!"
She could hear Miyako and Mimi's giggle. She buried her head with her pillow and hugged it tightly, in order to hide her blush. Sora on the other hand, looked at Hikari, and then to the giggling girls, and sighed. "Mimi-chan, Miyako-chan, I think you shouldn't do it," Sora said. "if she doesn't want, you don't need to urge her,"
"What do you mean, Sora –"
"Oh, I think we should!" Miyako said as she cut Hikari's statement. "Ready, Mimi-onesama?"
"Indeed," Mimi said happily as she took something from her little sack, and laughed evilly with Miyako. Hikari on the other hand, looked at the sisters with some horror on her face, such as someone was ready to cut her into pieces. She jumped away from the bed, trying to find out an escape route and failed because Miyako had been protecting the exit.
"MIYAKO-SAN! MIMI-SAN!" Hikari shrieked, blushing hardly.
"Girls were so lame!" Daisuke grumbled grumpily.
"Daisuke-kun, I think it's useless to grumble several times," Takeru said casually.
"I guess you wanna see my sister in bikini, eh?" Taichi said as he had known it very well.
"Or maybe you wanna show her your whole body? Ha! Your body isn't good enough!" Yamato said as he pointed him.
Boys had been waiting for the girls. Most of them were still wearing their clothes and just a half-naked, though some boys were wearing their unbuttoned clothes it. The only boys who were brave enough to expose their whole body were Taichi, Yamato, and Daisuke. Even though Daisuke just wanted to show his body to Hikari, and he didn't have a good body, at least it was Yamato's idea.
"Hmmph, at least I have enough courage," Daisuke answered Yamato. "very different with your little brother,"
"Whatever," Takeru said, who found out his usual childish habit.
"But, we have been waiting long enough, eh?" Ken said curiously.
"Ken-san, I probably knew you wanna see Miyako-san with her bikini. But –"
"Sorry for waiting!" Sora said as she ran, interrupting the boys.
Yamato looked at Sora curiously, before he blushed. He didn't know that Sora will wear a bikini for today's hot summer. He looked at Taichi, who'd been laughing and smirking. "I guess my plan works well,"
"Taichi!" Yamato said as he smacked Taichi's hair, blushing hardly. "How could –"
"STOP IT, MIYAKO-SAN, MIMI-SAN!"
Boys could hear Hikari's shriek and feel curious with that. The shadow of those three girls appeared and boys could see Miyako and Mimi were holding Hikari's arm rudely and tightly and pulled her closer to the boys.
"LET ME GO! MIYAKO-SAN, MIMI-SAN!" Hikari shrieked panicky. "LET ME WEAR MY SUMMER CLOTHES!"
"NO!"
All the thing they could see was three girls with her bikinis, including Hikari. Indeed, Miyako didn't put a bikini for Hikari in her suitcase in order to avoid the worst thing: Hikari would try to search it in Miyako's suitcase, and will throw it away. So, they put it in Mimi's suitcase, and decided to attack her together soon after Mimi's arrival to their room, another reason was, Miyako wasn't sure if she could do it alone.
"Hey guys!" Miyako squealed happily.
"Sorry for waiting!" Mimi said happily, grinning. "We have a problem with this little girl,"
Hikari swapped Mimi and Miyako's hand rudely as she ran away and protected herself behind Sora. For her, Mimi and Miyako were a bit overreacted about it. They had bought her a sexy bikini with blue and red strips on it. Precisely she felt very uncomfortable with that, and ashamed, not only because of a bikini that, for her, was sexy enough, but it was also because she should show her body for today, especially the fact that her breasts were really flat. Another thing was, summer sun will burn her white skin soon, and she hated it.
"Hikari-chan, don't hide from the others!" Mimi said as she pulled her.
"Silence!" Hikari shouted, blushing hardly.
The rest just laughed and felt sorry for Hikari. Again, she felt ashamed and hoped that noon will come pretty soon so she could change her bikini into her normal outfit. As the rest laughed, Hikari took a glance to the boys and especially, Takeru, who had been hiding his face. Truth to be told, as angry as she was with Miyako and Mimi, and as embarrassing as it was, she actually wanted to see Takeru's reaction or comment about this.
Hikari bit her lips as she noticed that Takeru seemed to not really cared about it at all. And the next thing that happened was, she noticed Daisuke was whispering something to Takeru, and he ended up blushing.
"Stupid!" Takeru said as he blushed. "What are you talking about?!"
"But you were thinking the same, right?" Daisuke asked.
"What?!" Takeru blurted out. "well even though I gotta agree that Hikari-chan looks bad, but –"
Takeru put his hand to his mouth, blushing as well. Hikari on the other hand, widened her eyes already as she heard Takeru's confession. She looked that him, and he gave a glance at her panicky, before he could hide his face once more. And the brunette girl, who once in a bad mood, and still in a bad mood due to Mimi and Miyako's action before, quickly came to Takeru and faced him, because all of his words only made her mood get worsened.
"What?!" Hikari asked. "did you say that I look bad right now?!"
Takeru looked at her panicky and read her grumpy face. Before he could speak a word, Hikari continued her statement and she is really mad. "I gotta admit that I'm really bad-looking right now! But, you shouldn't say it in front of me, or in front of the others!"
"Hikari-chan, let me expl –"
"Takeru-kun baka!"
She turned away and leaved Takeru. After put the sunblock on each other's skin, the chosen children started playing and enjoying the beach. Hikari on the other hand, didn't enjoy the holiday at all. She threw a stone to the sea and some sand grumpily as she remembered Takeru's unusual childish statement, at least it was very unusual for her to hear those words from his mouth. She bit her lips grumpily and took a lot of sand and threw it, which was falling down on Taichi's hair, who was swimming in the sea. Another thing that made her grumpy was, she noticed some boys were whistling at her playfully.
She wrapped her arms and legs altogether to hide her body, noticing that both Sora and Yamato were splashing water to each other, and in the end both Taichi and Jyou disturbed their moments, and a laughter happened. She bit her lips once more and she only got angrier as she noticed Miyako had put her head on Ken's shoulder and cuddled happily in that hot summer, or when she noticed Mimi was playing volleyball with the rest of them, feeling that both of them had nothing to do already for the last two hours. Honestly, she wanted to throw both Miyako and Mimi by putting her like this into the sea.
She looked that Takeru was playing volleyball with Mimi and the others, enjoying the playing as well. Mimi had asked her to join her, and she refused it due she wasn't in a good mood for it. She sighed and stood up, decided to take a walk by herself, and tried to find out a quiet place to calm down.
Soon after she found out a quieter place, without any people around there, she took a seat and wrapped her arms against her knees. Honestly, she had imagined that she will get a good and happy day today, with Takeru, or with the others, mainly because she had waited for this moment. And Mimi and Miyako had ruined it.
To be quiet honest, she didn't really quite understand why she got angry with Takeru. Although she was in a bad mood, but actually it was his opinion and every people had their opinions, but perhaps, she felt upset as he declared that she wasn't good at it, because it told her that he wasn't interesting with her at all. Another reason, deep inside her heart, maybe she wanted Takeru to say that she looked pretty good. Indeed, every girl who was falling in love with someone, absolutely wanted their crush to say that they looked so pretty in every way.
She sighed as she realized her fault. Anger was spreading her heart and mind back then and the conclusion was, she threw some of it to Takeru. She leaned closer to her knees as she closed both of her eyes, in order to make her much better so that she can say sorry later.
Hikari opened both of her eyes and realized that the sunset had begun. She didn't care if all of them were searching on her, or Taichi had called SAR team. She tilted her head, watching the orange sky, letting out a sigh. She felt very peaceful as she noticed she had calmed down from her anger, not until she heard a step, and turned away. The boy swapped his sweat and felt relief as he noticed her existence there.
"Hikari-chan! Thank goodness I finally found you!" Takeru said as he sat next to her. "All of them were searching on you,"
"I know," she said. "I just… want to enjoy the sunset,"
"Oh,"
Hikari could read from Takeru's face, that he was worry about her whereabouts, which made her a bit pleasant. Takeru on the other hand, could do nothing but just looked at his hands, which were a bit trembling, and bit his lips as well.
"Hikari-chan, are you still angry with me?" he asked softly.
Hikari stared at him and read his face. He looked a bit guilty with everything that had happened. When their eyes met to each other, she smiled at him nicely and shook her head.
"I'm sorry, okay?" Takeru said as he received a smile from her.
"you don't need to say sorry, Takeru-kun," she said. "you see, I was in a bad mood back then because of Miyako-san and Mimi-san's habit," she continued. "and I think it's wrong if I put all of my anger to you,"
"So, I'm the one who should say sorry. I'm sorry to put all of my anger with you, Takeru-kun," Hikari said softly and receiving a nod yet a relief sigh, before she remembered the thing that happened before they were arguing. "anyway, Takeru-kun, can I ask you something?"
"What is it?" Takeru asked.
"What was Daisuke-kun whispered at you before?" she asked curiously.
"Daisuke-kun?" he asked. "Well, he told me that you didn't look good with that,"
Hikari sighed as she had probably known it.
"But," Takeru said. "but back then, I wanted to tell him that, he shouldn't say like that, because you are one of his friend," he continued as he sighed. "but, you heard it and got angry with me,"
"But, he told me that he felt sorry with me, and will explain it to you later, Hikari-chan," he added.
"Really? Wasn't he usually become very happy every time he thinks that he could separate you and I?" she said, giggling with his story.
"Well, I don't know," he said, and joined her into laughter. "people grow,"
The teenagers laughed with that as they accepted their apology to each other. The sun and sky melted to be one, and started sinking. Both of them felt so relief after saying sorry to each other, and felt the warmth which was came from the sun. Hikari laughed as she remembered her stupid behavior before, when she got angry with him because she thought that she wasn't beauty enough in his eyes.
That statement hit her. Was she looked beautiful in his eyes right now? Or was he really meant his statement? She bit her lips, deciding to ask about it as well.
"Takeru-kun," she said. "can I ask you something?"
"Sure, go ahead," he said.
"Did you really mean your statement before? About my appearance," she said. "tell me the truth. I won't get angry. I promise."
Takeru on the other hand, looked at her before he could blush, biting his lips as well and scratching his hair. "To be honest, your bikini is the one who made you worse than usual," he said. "because –"
Takeru blushed hardly and put both of his hands, hiding his face as well. Hikari put her hand on his shoulder worriedly and shook it as well. "Takeru-kun?"
He was quite for some minute, and he looked at her.
"I just," he said. "I just, didn't want you to show all of it in front of the others!"
"I mean, I mean, boys will be staring on you and whistling as well. That was everything that happened to you, right? I saw some of them before!" he said and lowered his voice. "Because I think, you shouldn't show it to everyone, except to someone special,"
Hikari blushed after received Takeru answer, but laughing pretty soon and feeling relief with his answer. At least, she didn't look ugly, only her bikini made her ugly, and she felt overwhelmed when he stated that the boys were looking at her, which meant that he took care of her. Another thing that made her laugh enough was, he told her that she should show it only with someone special.
And more so, she noticed that Takeru had been looking at her, when they were having their little fight before.
"I guess Miyako-san and Mimi-san were overreacted with this," Takeru said as he sighed. "they did it because of me, right?"
"Indeed," Hikari sighed. "Miyako-san kept telling me that you were interested and curious with this. But, I probably knew that you didn't, eh?"
But, she didn't receive an answer and noticed that Takeru had turned away and avoided to meet her eyes. "Takeru-kun?"
Takeru shook his head rudely and faced her. "No, no!" he said. "Anyway, let's go back to the others,"
Hikari looked confused, but she shrugged. "You're right,"
Both of them stood up and started walking. Takeru was in front of her, leading their way. But something odd happened. It seemed that they couldn't find out the route, and they had passed the same place over and over again. They walked, and in the end they could only find out a sea. After they walked and felt tired enough, and the sun was set down already, Takeru looked around and gulped as well.
"What's wrong?" Hikari asked curiously.
"Uh-oh," Takeru said as he turned back. "Seems that… the water from the sea had been flowing harder, and –"
Hikari looked at him panicky as she understood it. "Don't say that –"
Both of them looked at each other, and looked at each other worriedly.
"We are... trapped..?"
