The Refreshing Battle in Karuizawa!
Hina's POV
"Have a great afternoon!" I call cheerfully after a couple leaving the bed and breakfast.
Haruhi and I are here on a summer job in Karuizawa. This is a fairly peaceful and nice place. In all honesty, I really do enjoy it here even though we have to work. It's actually pretty relaxing, and that's coming from a lazyass like me.
"Hi, good morning!" Haruhi calls to a new customer as they walk in the front doors. We're both cleaning tables and doing jobs like maids.
Now we're outside with the wind rushing through our hair while we put up the laundry on the clotheslines.
'Maybe I should've told at least Kyoya about our summer job here, but it's not like he needs to keep tabs on me at all times. I just hope that the rest of the guys won't flip out on us about not telling them.' I think to myself as I enjoy the cool breeze and fresh air. 'This is perfect for us to have some time to ourselves to catch up on our studies and relax a little. This summer is going to be great!'
Suddenly, a very familiar voice yells frantically from above, "Haruhi! Hina! Fear not, daddy's come to save you!" Tamaki-senpai is above us the air in a freaking helicopter! The wind from the helicopter makes the sheets that we were hanging up fly away into the sky.
I get a rather large angry red tick mark on my head, 'Oh he is so dead. When he gets down here I'm going to make him wish that I had never attended Ouran Academy!'
"Oh my!" Misuzu exclaims, "What dashing young men these are! They must belong to Haruhi and Hina!" He says in excitement while clasping his hands together and twisting around.
All the guys, but Kyoya and Mori-senpai, are staring at Misuzu in surprise. They probably weren't expecting another tranny like our dad. Akio and the others didn't come 'cause they're all on vacation and they could probably care less that we were 'forced into indentured servitude' or whatever Tamaki-senpai was saying when they first got here.
Misuzu spins around, "Call me Misuzu-chi!" He says cheerfully to the guys.
"He's an old friend of Ranka's, they used to work together at the same shop years ago." Kyoya fills in the others while standing close next to me. He already glared at me a little when they got out of the helicopter. I don't know which reason is that he's mad because Tamaki-senpai woke him up for this, or that I didn't tell him about this summer job.
"Oh, well, surely you would know!" Tamaki-senpai gets a small tick mark on his head and glares at Kyoya.
"Kill us." Haruhi and I say in sync.
Misuzu starts to spin around with blue roses floating around him, "I went into business for myself a few years ago, but I would never have believed I would be running this adorable kitchen! This is just like a fairytale!" He says joyously.
Hunny-senpai speaks up, "So then is Haru-chan and Hina-chan your indentured servant?" He says like clutching his Usa-chan and flashing those big cute brown eyes.
Kyoya replies, "Well, they are kind of like unpaid employees. This is Ranka's way of keeping track of his daughters while he's busy working." He answers with a smile.
"What the? How do you know all this stuff?" Tamaki-senpai pouts and gets up in Kyoya's face.
"Kill us," My sister and I repeat again.
" 'Take my little girls under your wing,' He says! Ranka practically begged me. And since I can't afford the expensive help anyways, it works out for everyone!" Misuzu says cheerfully. "They're model employees! It's a shame I can't pay them anything!" He says to the guys while almost hugging us. "Oh! Tell me what you boys think of the cute aprons they're wearing!" Misuzu spins us around to face the guys, "I made them myself!"
They all give thumbs-up while I feel like curling up in a corner and dying.
Now we're outside sitting at tables with white tablecloths adorning them. "A job, huh?" Hikaru comments critically.
"You turned down our offer to go to Bali for this?" Kaoru questions.
"And we even asked them to go to Switzerland, didn't we?" Hunny-senpai adds.
"We did." Mori-senpai agrees.
I sigh and bury my face into my arms on the table, "Well we still don't have passports, remember?" I mumble through my arms.
"Which is precisely why I recommended one of our domestic resorts." Kyoya puts in and I almost flinch. I know I'm gonna regret not telling him about this soon. "And at a discount, no less." He adds just as Tamaki-senpai bursts through the bushes a little ways away with an aggravated sound.
"Traitors," He says with his bangs covering his eyes and his clothes covered in leaves and twigs, "asking Haruhi and Hina to go on a summer trip with you behind my back. Have you no feeling of loyalty?" He sulks on the grass and at that point I start to ignore him. I've learned that doing this is easier than trying to understand what is going on inside his head.
Hikaru and Kaoru follow my example and ask us, "Why did you have your cell phones turned off?" They give us skeptical looks.
Haruhi glances at me and I shrug, "We didn't really think about it." I take one look at Tamaki-senpai again and I see he's gonna start on another rant, so I decide to go over to the other table that Kyoya's sitting at. I'll take my chances with my boyfriend the Shadow King than with Tamaki-senpai's rants any day.
Kyoya raises his eyebrow at me but I ignore him and go down into the grass to lay down. I drap my arm over my eyes and breathe out a loud sigh.
"-aren't we allowed to vacation as we want to?" I hear Haruhi finish. I lift up my arm to see Kyoya pull an Ouran Academy handbook out of nowhere with a dark look on his face.
"According to the handbook, jobs are prohibited." He says with an evil smile and then stares at me, I think. I can't tell with those damn shady glasses though. One of these days I'm gonna buy him contacts or make him wear some for at least a day.
Haruhi gets a fearful expression, "Uh, we uh, we had no idea." She stutters and I moan in aggravation.
Hikaru and Kaoru do their stupid mocking whispering thing again. Hikaru starts it, "Hey, did you hear? Haruhi and Hina got themselves a job without the school's permission."
"No way, that's grounds for explosion." Kaoru whispers back and I start to slam the back of my head against the ground multiple times.
"I think Karuizawa is way better than Switzerland anyway." Hunny-senpai says from up on Mori-senpai's shoulders as they look through a Karuizawa guidebook. Mori-senpai makes a sound of agreement.
"And overseas travel is so exhausting." Kyoya adds while pushing up his glasses. Seriously, does he need those tightened or something? He pushes them up on this face all the damn time.
"But of course, you do have the right to spend your vacation as you please." Tamaki-senpai ponders with a hand on his chin, "But, like it or not, so do we." Haruhi's face is twitching and I am about to get up go hide somewhere inside because we both know what he's getting at. "And you know, I do find Misuzu to be exceptionally charming." He faces the two of us with a smartass expression.
I bury my face in my hands and let pout a ear-splitting scream of frustration that scares the shit out of Tamaki-senpai.
"I'm so sorry, boys! I'd love to have you all as guests, but I'm afraid there's only one vacant room left!" Misuzu tells them after they all say they want to stay. At this new information, I silently have a party inside of my head that only one them will be here.
"Only one room?" Tamaki-senpai clarifies, "Well, then that settles it, I'll stay here to represent the club!" He says very haughtily, and I choke on the water I'm drinking. It takes a few minters for me to get it out of my system after a couple pats on the back from Kyoya.
After I return to the fully-living I hear the basics of what is going on. I silently slink away to get away from all of them for as long as I can.
I decide to start on dinner for the guests in the kitchen so I get right on that. I dance around whilst gathering all the materials I need to make plenty of dinner for the assigned guests we're having tonight. I also hum softly to myself as I start to cook the ingredients.
After I finish, I tell Misuzu and he says I can have a break. With all the guys busy helping out, there isn't much more for me to do at the moment. I decide on going outside to relax with a good book. I throw on a short blue summer dress that has purple flowers patterns and birds on it. I also grab my iPod on a second thought. I might give some guys a little show while I'm out there.
I walk outside with a large grin. I notice two guys coming to the entrance, so I put my stuff down on the grass and climb up on the roof as quickly as I can. I stand above the entrance, and just before they get to the doors, I launch myself down and manage to do a flip in midair and land in a spilt.
They both stare at me in surprise then start clapping, "Wow, that was great!" One says and offers me a hand to help me up.
I smile my old host smile, "Thank you, and welcome to Pension Misuzu." I curtsey then out of the corner of my eye, I notice Haruhi and Kyoya watching me.
'This'll be good.'
"Sis, could you please direct these handsome men to their room, please?" I call over to Haruhi and she nods and comes over.
"What room are you staying in this evening?" She asks them with her host smile as she stands next to me. I can see the excitement in the mens' eyes.
"We're staying in a two single bed on the third floor." One says.
"Follow me then please." Haruhi says and then both do, but not without taking one last glance at me before following my sister like little puppies.
I giggle in joy when I walk over to Kyoya. "Men are so easy."
Suddenly, I hear a crash a little ways away and Kaoru shouting. I rush over and see him on top of Haruhi with a broken pot behind them. "Haruhi!" I shout in panic and practically shove Kaoru out of my way to get to her. "Haru, are you okay?" I search her whole body while Hikaru has his own reunion check thingy with Kaoru.
"The winner of the contest is the Hitatchin brothers for refreshing brotherly love!" Misuzu exclaims from the roof of the pension.
After I make sure Haruhi is completely all right, we turn to them, "Well, congrats guys." We say together with indifferent expressions.
Then they get these creepyass looks on their faces, "Oh, it was nothing really." They say together in a very suspicious way.
"Wait a second," I start to panic.
"Wait the-" Haruhi starts.
"Was all of that, staged?" We question them together.
They reply I sync, "Well no, who could say?"
'Oh terrific.'
"Come on, I said I was sorry. What do you want me to do?" Hikaru complains coming down the stairs the next morning. "I didn't mean to kick you out of bed, it was an accident!"
Kaoru pouts as they get to the foot of the stairs, "Accident or not, my back is killing me."
I glance at Haruhi as they walk past us with those attitudes, "You can deal with them. You're usually the best with them." I can feel her glare burning through the back of my head as I walk into the kitchen.
Of course, I am greeted by Tamaki-senpai in the kitchen with Misuzu.
Still.
He's been in there all morning, learning all he can from Misuzu. It was pretty funny when he came back from trying to wake up Kyoya and Hunny-senpai for this weird camp thing he made.
"Hey Tamaki-senpai, could you go smack Hikaru and Kaoru for me? They're probably ordering something that is way off than what we have on the menu." I tell him when he looks up from the dish he's working on with Misuzu. "And they're probably harassing Haruhi again too." This sends him to charge out of the kitchen, but not before grabbing a platter of food and taking it with him.
I laugh a little to myself and go out myself a few minutes later to see one of our old friends from middle school recognize Haruhi.
I creep up next to Tamaki-senpai and the devil twins as they start to freak out. "Ooooooh, it's Haruhi's boyfriend, Arai." I decide to add oil to the fire and Tamaki-senpai even screams at this new information.
Please keep reading and review!
Holy god, I have a very serious case of writer's block. I'll try to get chapters going now since it's summer, but I won't make any promises either. I'm mostly just getting this off the anime. Anyway, hope you guys liked it!
