Chapter 25: Birthday Girl
"What do you mean you don't want a birthday party?" I asked in disbelief, "You love birthday parties!"
"You love birthday parties." Daisy argued, "I'm going to be ten years old. I don't want a silly little kids party!"
"But-" I tried.
"I don't want to be embarrassed in front of my friends by having some stupid baby party where we play pass the parcel." Daisy said, rolling her eyes and storming from the room.
"I think her teenage years have come early." I said with a sigh. Daisy had been a lot better since Jasper had taken her shopping (I don't know what he said to her but it sure as hell worked) but she'd become increasingly moody in the three weeks since then. Carlisle said that because her mental development was advanced, she may also have the hormones of a teenager.
"And so it begins." Jasper joked.
"I'm going to throw her a birthday party." I said.
"She just told you she didn't want one." Jasper argued.
"She said she didn't want a little kids party." I disagreed, "Which, by the way, are super cute and super fun to throw. But this year I'm going to throw her a grown up party."
Jasper eyed me suspiciously, "How grown up are we talking?"
"Something appropriate, don't you worry." I told him, sticking my tongue out, "It's going to be awesome."
"Right, where do we start?" Jasper asked.
"Shopping of course!" I grinned.
"I just went shopping." Jasper complained.
"That was weeks ago and for some reason I wasn't invited!" I said with a pout. I was still annoyed that it had been Jasper who took Daisy to buy her first heels. I felt like I'd been robbed of a milestone in my daughter's life. I wasn't going to let Jasper forget it, "Come on, you owe me, Jasper. You know I wanted to buy Daisy her first heels, and-"
"Okay!" Jasper said, raising his hands in surrender, "You know I can't say no to you, Darlin'."
I squealed and hugged him, then started tugging him out the front door, "Come on, her birthday is in three days! We have no time to lose!"
~o.O.o~
Three days and four shopping trips later, the day had arrived. I shake Jasper at exactly 12.01am on the 30th May, "It's her birthday, let's go!"
"Darlin' she'll she asleep." Jasper told me.
"But-" I began, but I was interrupted by Daisy crashing through the door.
"It's my birthday!" She yelled.
I gave Jasper a triumphant look and jumped out of bed to hug my daughter, "Happy birthday, baby girl!"
"I'm ten." Daisy told me, "I'm not a baby girl."
"You'll always be my baby girl." I told her, kissing her cheek. I let her go and she leapt into Jasper's waiting arms.
"Happy birthday, little Darlin'." He said.
"Presents?" Daisy asked.
"How about breakfast first?" I asked.
"It's 12 am." Jasper pointed up.
"Well, she's awake." I said, sticking my tongue out.
"What's for breakfast?" Daisy asked.
"Anything you want, sweetheart." I told her.
"Anything at all?" She asked.
"Anything at all." I confirmed.
"Gummy bears and ice cream?" She tried.
Jasper started opening his mouth to protest, but I got there first, "Of course gummy bears and ice cream! Flavours?"
"Cookie dough." Daisy said with a grin, "And strawberry pop tarts too?"
"Yes!" I cried, "Oh God, I miss food."
Jasper carries Daisy downstairs in his arms, though she protested she was too big. He sat her down on the kitchen countertop as I scurry around the kitchen finding the ingredients for Daisy's sweet breakfast.
She wolfed it down and then looked up at us expectantly, "Now presents?"
"Hmmm, I suppose." I said, "Wait here!"
I run up to our bedroom and retrieve her gifts, dumping them in a pile at her feet. She stared at the pile, "There's so many..."
Emmett barrels into the kitchen at this point, "Wait just a minute! She can't open her presents without the birthday crown!"
He plops a sparkly tiara on her head and a sloppy kiss on her cheek. Daisy squeals and wipes her cheek, "Uncle Emmett!"
"Hey, you've hit double digits which means you are officially a big girl." Emmett told her, "I think we can drop the 'uncle' now; you're making me feel old."
He winked at her and she giggled, "Did you get me a present, Emmett?"
His smile dropped, "I kind of forgot..." Daisy believes him and her eyes grow wide. He drops a messily wrapped parcel in her lap, "I'm just joking, kid. Chillax."
She stuck her tongue out at him, "Just for that, I'm opening yours last!"
Daisy starts opening her presents from Jasper and I. They're mostly little things; clothes, art materials, heels (now that Jasper had allowed the first pair, I couldn't resist buying more), DVDs.
"There's something bigger," I told her, "But we're saving that for later."
She opens the rest of her presents as the sun comes up. It's a school day, but we've given her the day off. "We've got the whole day scheduled." I told her, "Go and get dressed, then Emmett's taking you out."
Daisy eyes me suspiciously, "Why aren't you coming?"
"Because I have stuff to do." I told her, sticking my tongue out, "Just go!"
She gets dressed and Emmett takes her out for lunch, giving us the chance to set up her party.
"I'm telling you, Jazz, this is going to be the best party ever." I said, sticking balloons to the wall.
"You say that every year, Darlin'." Jasper said with a smirk.
"Every day with you and Daisy is the best ever." I tell him, kissing him, "Now, I think we're done here. Let's go meet Daisy."
Ten minutes later, we're stood outside a spa waiting for Emmett to arrive with Daisy. Jasper was complaining, "I don't see why I had to come; I don't want to go to a spa!"
"It's for your daughter!" I scolded, "Look! Her friends are here!"
Three girls are skipping over to us. I smile at them, "Let me see if I've got this right. You're Sarah, you're Poppy, and you're Freya?" The girls nod and smile up at me, "I'm Alice, Daisy's sister. This is Jazz, my boyfriend."
"Is Daisy here yet?" Sarah asked.
I shake my head, "She'll be here any minute."
Sure enough, Emmett's Jeep pulled up and Daisy jumped out. Her eyes widened as she saw Jazz and I standing with her friends.
"Surprise, baby girl!" I said, "Phase one of your super amazing grown up party."
The four girls get pampered for the whole afternoon; starting with a dip in the hot tub, then face masks, mani-pedis, hair styled and make-up done. Daisy bounced up to me and waved her hands, "Look how sparkly my nails are!"
"Beautiful!" I told her, "I'm jealous!"
"You could get yours done too!" Daisy suggested.
"No time, we're on a tight schedule." I said
"Where are we going?" Daisy asked.
"For dinner, of course." I told her, "At a restaurant of your choice."
Daisy chose a cute little diner on the edge of town, and the girls ordered burgers and shakes. Jasper and I sit at the counter and watch them with fond smiles, "This diner remind you of anything?"
"The resemblance is remarkable." Jasper said with a grin.
"Do you think Daisy will have something like that one day?" I asked.
"Something like us?" Jasper asked, "I hope so."
I kiss his cheek and we here giggling coming from the table of girls. We turned to see them staring at us. Freya giggled, "Your sister is so strange! Who'd want to kiss a boy?"
"Doesn't she know about cootees?" Sarah asked, rolling her eyes, "She could get like, a disease. Boys so aren't worth it."
Daisy shrugged, "They're nice to look at though, right?"
Jasper and I exchange glances and I can't hold back a laugh. Jasper glares, "She's ten! I shouldn't have to start worrying about boys for another...sixty years!"
I rolled my eyes, "Get over yourself, Jazz. She's going to date."
"Can I have a few more years of bliss first?" Jasper asked.
"I'm sure you won't have to worry just get." I assured him. I noticed the girls were done eating, so I went over to the table, "Ready for phase 3 of the party?"
The girls nodded, so we led them outside. Daisy was the first one to notice exactly what phase 3 was. "Is that a limousine?!"
"Sure is, baby girl." I told her, "Hop in."
The girls pile in and Jasper and I get in after them. Daisy was bouncing off the walls, "Where are we going?"
"Home, but in style." I tell her with a wink. I produce a bottle and some glasses, "Champagne?"
"Alice!" Jasper protested, "They're ten!"
"One glass won't hurt." I said, sticking my tongue out at him. I lowered my voice, "It's one part champagne, four parts lemonade."
The girls drank their 'champagne' in a giddy haze. Twenty minutes later, we were back at the house. I cover Daisy's eyes as we walk in and then reveal what we've done to the living room. There are streamers and balloons all over the walls, in one corner is a table covered in popcorn, candy, and beautiful cupcakes made by Bella and Esme. We'd pushed all the furniture to the sides and filled the centre of the room with blankets, pillows, and duvets.
The four girls were sat in the centre in a second, chatting away to each other and stuffing popcorn. Taking that as our queue, Jasper and I leave and go up to our own room, expecting not to see the girls until the morning.
Ten minutes later, however, Daisy's knocking on our door. "You said you had another present for me, but you never gave it to me..."
"Did we?" Jasper asked, "I don't remember that."
"Me neither." I said.
"But you..." Daisy narrowed her eyes, "Where is it?"
I hand her an envelope and she rips it open, then stares at the contents. I smile at her, "Tickets for us all to go to Canada."
"So you can see the huskys like you wanted." Jasper said, "And go sledding and all that snow stuff."
"I love it!" Daisy said. She jumped onto the bed and hugged us both, "And I loved my party too. It was perfect."
"Grown up enough?" I asked her.
"Definitely." She said, "But I would have loved any party you gave me, even though I said I didn't. Sorry I was such a brat about moving."
"That's okay, sweetie. We know it was hard for you." I said.
"You forgive me?" She asked.
"Of course I do." I told her, "I always will."
She turned to Jasper, "You were right; I know I'll never be alone." I'm about to ask what she means when she smiles and skips from the room, "Goodnight!"
"Well that's another year gone." I say, leaning back into Jasper's arms. He kisses the top of my head.
"And here's to many more."
A/N: Hellooooooo :) So this was a total filler chapter but I just wasn't ready to leave this age just yet ;) The next chapter is going to skip to 13 years old and the drama will really begin! ;) Also, it's only going to be a few chapters time until I switch to Daisy POV...I'm hoping everyone's going to like Daisy POV as much as Alice POV...;)
Big thank you for all the reviews (and a shoutout to Stormy because I couldn't send you a PM as you're a guest...thanks for your review!) and as always anyone who reviews will get a sneak peak of the next chapter before I update!
