Ok here it is, the beginning of the battle shall start here!
Now some of you had a clue as to whom the traitor would be, but of course the red hair was a dead giveaway eh? Not to worry I'm not putting out all the good parts here yet, this is just the first half for the two chapters containing the final battle.
Sorry about the wait, hope this makes up for it.
I don't own Harry Potter.
Enjoy!
Some days later:
Room of Requirement:
"Reducto!" a jet of light flew from the tip of a wand.
"Protego!"
"Stupefy!" the curse barely missed its target.
"Expelliarmus!" the offending wand was moved out of its owner's hand. "Sorry Draco, you know I'm good at disarming." Harry caught Draco's wand in his own hand.
"Yeah, you're good Harry, very good." The two had been in the RoR for hours now, and it was Saturday. They had been practicing spells, curses, hexes and defensive spells for the upcoming battle. Neither one held back, but they weren't using anything too fatal; frankly because it was after curfew and Dumbledore gave them permission to be out as long as they stayed in the room, and didn't bother Poppy.
"You're good too, your dad taught you well."
"Actually it was my mum who taught me to duel, and Snape. Father was always busy at the Ministry but he at least came home in time to talk with me about our day before bed." Harry chuckled, but then frowned looking at his mother's wand in his hand. "You alright?"
"Not fully but…I will be." Harry carefully put the wand back inside its case. "I just wish I had more time to prepare." The battle would begin soon, everyone could feel it. Harry was more worried about his friends and family than himself.
"Harry we knew this would happen sooner or later, all we can do is fight to protect ourselves and others until you face Voldemort." Draco wrapped an arm around Harry's waist.
"I know but…Millie's pregnant and Brianna…"
"Brianna is somewhere safe love, with mother." The Malfoys had decided to join in the upcoming battle, but Narcissa agreed to hide with Brianna and her sister Andromeda whom was more than happy to help her youngest sister. They were hiding in a safe house, and if no one returned within three days after the battle went underway the women were to leave town with the money Lucius and Millie had entrusted to them. They had multiple properties they could take, but hopefully that wouldn't happen.
"Perhaps, I just…" Harry turned and let Draco hold him closer. "I don't want to lose everyone, not so soon."
"You won't lose anyone love, not me, not your family, or your friends. We're all in this together, and we'll make it out together." Harry wanted to believe him, but he knew firsthand what Voldemort was really like and what he was capable of.
"I love you Draco."
"And I love you Harry, I'll always be here to protect you." Harry's green eyes met silver. "Always."
"Draco…" they shared a brief kiss. "What about your family?"
"Father is going to fight; I think he wants revenge against Bellatrix for kicking us out of our home. Plus he's been cooped up too long, he needs to vent." Harry chuckled, he remembered hearing Lucius tell his uncle that he wanted to fight and wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Dumbledore will be there as well, but only I can defeat Voldemort."
"Yes, but I will be nearby." Draco ran a hand through Harry's dark hair. "I'll be there for you."
"Draco, I think you should stick with Millie and Severus." Draco shook his head.
"Cousin Tonks and Lupin are going to be with them along with many others, you know they'll be fine." Harry stared at him. "What?"
"You just called Tonks your cousin."
"Well she is isn't she?"
"Yeah but you never…" Draco stopped him.
"I meant to tell you that I have been writing to her, for about three months now." Harry's eyes widened but not huge. "I figured that since you and I are going out, I should try and make peace with my aunt and cousin. It surprised me when she wrote back telling me she already knew about us, I guess women have a talent for guessing romance." Harry had to snort, Tonks must've been told by Millie or Minerva.
"Perhaps, what all did she tell you?"
"Well for one thing she and Professor Lupin are going out." Harry froze. "Shocked me too, guess she has a particular taste for beasts." Harry glared that time. "It was only a joke love, sorry."
"Don't joke about that Draco, and don't let Remus hear you say it either."
"I won't, besides I think Tonks has really brought him around. You know how vibrant she is."
"And how would you know? You've never actually met her have…oh wait you have." Harry nearly forgot about the meeting the Malfoys had been at when they first introduced Millie and Brianna.
"Either way I would say Lupin's lucky to have her." Harry wouldn't say it but he agreed, Remus had been alone too long and now that Sirius was gone Remus needed someone in his life. Someone to love and cherish him the way he needed to be, though Tonks was much younger than him.
"When did this turn into a matchmaking conversation?" Draco laughed at him. "Either way I know Voldemort is to attack soon, the Ministry's preparing and so is everyone here."
"The others will help protect the school, even the Slytherins, my friends will protect whom they can."
"What about their parents?" Draco looked away.
"Not sure, some if not most of the parents are Death Eaters. Severus is going to speak with them tomorrow, and I'll be there with him." The Slytherins who had parents for Death Eaters needed to know that the Dark Lord was wrong in his way; if their parents went to Azkaban the Ministry would work something out with them.
"I really wish Millie wasn't fighting, she's pregnant for Merlin's sake."
"They've already thought of that love, her stomach is going to be surrounded with shields so the baby will be safe. Not to mention her magic itself will protect the baby, and once we realize who the traitor is then we will make sure they pay."
"You think it could be Ron or Ginny?" Draco shrugged.
"Could be, they left around the time you had the vision, or it could be the missus." Harry had thought of that, Molly had been acting insane since Millie sent that howler. "Either way whoever it is will pay dearly."
"Yeah, hey Drake?"
"Yeah Harry?" Harry pointed at the clock, it was nearly midnight.
"Let's get some sleep; we can make love in the morning." Draco yawned in response.
"Good idea, nothing better than morning shags for a wakeup call." They laughed and changed into their pajamas, well Harry's was just a pair of sweatpants and a tank, and Draco's was only his black silk pants. They curled up next to each other in the huge bed the room made for them, and fell asleep in each other's arms.
Meanwhile, Snape family quarters:
"Millie darling, you alright?" the day had been a long one for the Snapes. It hadn't gone by very well either, because their only daughter was away at a safe house with Narcissa and Andromeda, far away.
"Hmm?" Millie had been staring out the window for hours now; she hadn't looked away even when she heard her husband come into their bedroom.
"Millie…" Severus came up behind her and she leaned back into his arms. "Love how long have you been standing there?"
"Since seven." Severus glanced at the clock, it was nearly midnight.
"You need to sit down; standing up too long is bad for your legs. I'll fix you a cup of tea." Millie nodded and let Severus guide her to the bed. He left her alone for a few minutes before coming back with a steaming cup of Jasmine Tea, her favorite. "Here, drink this." She took it and drank down it all in seconds.
"Thanks." She handed him the empty cup.
"Love, I know it's hard but you know we had to do it." Millie nodded.
"I know, but I miss her Severus. She's my baby, and she's still a baby…" Severus held her close. She was remembering the times he was away and she was alone, until one day she found out she was pregnant with Brianna and so excited.
"I understand, I miss her too but she's somewhere safe." He kissed her head.
"I want her back in my arms Severus, but I know we have to protect her." Deep down Millie wanted to be with Brianna, but she had to fight even if she was pregnant. "This just reminds me of the years we were married where I saw you at least once a week, and it was only for a few hours." She turned to him.
"And then one day you saw the doctor and you were having our baby, just as you are now."
"Yes, but it still comes to me." the memories of the loneliness came back, after Brianna was taken. Millie hated being alone, but she was strong enough to bear it. Her thoughts began to cloud though, when she felt a pair of warm lips on her neck and a hand move her hair. "Severus?" he moaned against her neck, and she shuddered.
"Millie…we both need relief of our stress. Let me make love to you, the exact same way I did on our wedding night." She looked at him. "Let me love you my dear, to show you that our love is strong and will never fade."
"Severus…" he placed a gentle kiss on her lips, and gently pushed her down onto the bed. "Severus…" she kept chanting his name as his hands roamed over her body, from her shoulders to her breasts, and down to her hips. "Oh…"
"You are still so beautiful." He kissed her stomach after he pushed her skirt up above her waist. "My most beautiful wife, and our unborn child, the pregnancy makes you glow in the night."
"Severus…" Millie's cheeks turned hot. "If you keep talking like that you're going to make me crazy." She groaned as his lips kissed her lower belly, and then trailed down to a more sensitive area. "Ugh…S-Sev…" onyx eyes glanced up at her.
"Relax my love, and I shall shower you with kisses." He kept his word, and Millie found herself in a blissful, passionate night; meaning she didn't get to sleep until three in the morning.
The next morning, 8:30 a.m.:
Harry and Draco joined everyone in the Great Hall the next morning, and everyone was dressed like they were in fact ready for a fight. He could see everyone had blank expressions on their faces, but at the teacher's table it looked worse. Ron and Ginny had returned, but they seemed different, much different than the last time Harry saw them. Ginny looked ready to cry and scream, but Ron's face was sullen and mournful, but for what?
"Hello Hermione, sit with me and Harry at the Slytherin table ok?" Hermione looked up from her spot and nodded. She followed them to the Slytherin table and sat next to Pansy who was cuddling up to Blaise for comfort. The Slytherins were all in turmoil, half of their parents would be in the war and the other half would likely never come around.
"Good morning everyone." Draco said and they all smiled slightly.
"Have you heard from Fred Mione?" Harry whispered to her.
"He and George will come with the Order, when it starts." They knew it was close, but they all agreed to stick together through it all.
"Good morning children, I can see now that we are all here this morning." Dumbledore stood up to his podium. "I know that we're all unsure of what's to come, but we have to admit we did see this was going to happen. Voldemort is going to attack, we do not know when or how, but it will be soon. That is why I am giving all of you a chance, a chance to make your own decision. If you wish to leave and go home to your families you may, no one will blame you. If you wish to stay and fight for the lives of your friends, your freedom, and your own life then you may do so. Voldemort will be defeated, and we will all take part in defeating him and his army." He paused, sending a glance Harry's way.
'He's right, too many people are too young and don't know how to fight.'
"As you all know, there is a prophecy concerning the only person who's ever survived the killing curse, our Harry Potter. Now it has been foretold that Harry will defeat the Dark Lord, but part of me is afraid, just as I'm sure part of you is as well, afraid for Harry. We have put our faith in the hands of a mere boy, but he is far more powerful than most of us here. He is the only one who can defeat Voldemort, and he is not alone in this war. He has the entire Ministry behind him, my friends whom I have fought alongside for years, he has his friends who have been there for him when he needed them, he has his family, and he has the power of Hogwarts herself to help him win against the Dark Lord." Harry felt a sense of pride come over him, he felt happy that he had everyone with him, but it was like Dumbledore said, those who wished to leave would not be held accountable.
"He's right." Draco whispered in his ear. "You have a lot of people behind you, we can win this." Harry relaxed as Draco's pale hand went over his.
"We are all a part of the Magical Realm, and we must all fight for the rights of it. Voldemort has destroyed so many lives in death, if not worse. Many of us have lost loved ones in the first war and now, we are close to losing more. We cannot let this monster win, or he will destroy us all and everything we hold dear. We have many other allies coming to assist us, but as I said if you wish to leave you will not be held responsible if anything happens. We will all understand, if you wish to leave you may exit through the door and gather your things, we will arrange for your families to come for you. Take your time to think, and then you may decide." Harry looked around, and slowly people began to rise, mainly the first and second years, most of them were too afraid and too young to know how to fight.
First and second years were all around, most of them left through the doors, others stayed behind. A few fourth year Hufflepuffs left as well, and some third year Ravenclaws; the Gryffindors let a few first years go, the others stayed in their seats. No one in Slytherin got up though; most of them had their own reasons to stay.
'No one will blame you; it's alright to be afraid.' Harry looked at the Gryffindor table, Ron and Ginny both looked unsure of what to do. They didn't move though, and so when the last few students left the Hall, Dumbledore cleared his throat and all eyes went back to him.
"Is that all who wish to go?" no one else moved, they had their answer. "Then I ask all of you, on this day if not more to come, will you fight to defend your school? Until the very end?" in an answer, all the remaining students stood up from their seats and let out in an uproar 'YES!'. Dumbledore smiled at them all, and so he raised his hands and clapped with the other teachers.
"We will fight; we will fight until the end." Draco kissed Harry's cheek. "All of us."
"All of us." Blaise and Pansy stood together, with Crabbe and Goyle as well.
"We'll show the Death Eaters what we're really made of." Goyle spoke boldly shaking his fist. "It's time to bring the Slytherin name out of the dirt." Draco laughed, but nodded in agreement.
"Now then, while we are busy getting the students who wish to leave home, the rest of you stay here while we wait for the rest of our allies to arrive." Dumbledore left with a few teachers, but then Harry spotted Remus coming over to him.
"Harry, you look well." Harry hadn't seen or heard from the man in a while, but with a war brewing outside who could blame him.
"Thanks, you too." Remus looked at Draco and the two nodded at each other.
"Your father is here Draco, he's in the dungeons."
"Is he alright?" Remus nodded.
"He's only waiting to speak with Severus, and when it begins he will come out." Draco merely nodded again. "Are you ready for this Harry?" Harry only shrugged.
"I suppose I'm as ready as I'll ever be, this has to end."
"Yes, and Harry; just so you know…your parents and Sirius would be very proud of you." Harry smiled and embraced the man. "As am I, as your friend and your former professor."
"Thank you Remus."
"I'm also sorry that Ron and Ginny turned out the way they have, they had no right to judge you."
"They aren't my problem now, Voldemort is my problem. When he comes, I'll be ready for him." Harry leaned back into Draco's arms.
'Now all we can do is wait, this has gone on long enough.'
Not exactly the start of the final battle, so I decided to make the final battle into a long chapter. Might try and make it ten pages if I can, so it's going to start off in the next chapter and end in the next chapter. We will find out who the redhead was, so fear not.
