"Guv... What the bloody hell was that about?" Beth stormed into CID rubbing her newly freed wrists. "I can't believe you arrested me."

"I think what you meant to say DI Price," Gene had come out of his office when she entered the room "Is thank you so much for releasing me without charging me Guv," he was impersonating her with a high whiny voice which sounded nothing like her. "I did a stupid thing for a boy, I'm sorry and I won't do it again." Beth walked closer to him clearly fuming. "What's that Price? You going to kiss me or punch me?" Beth clenched her fists.

"I was going to punch you but I think I've come close enough to losing my job for one day."

"I didn't hear a sorry or a thank you in there Price but I guess I'll let it go, your boyfriend has just been arrested after all."

"He's not my boyfriend, can I see him?"

"You want to see the only suspect in a murder case, I don't think so. The only people he gets to talk to are me and his lawyer... I hope he's got a good one."As if on cue Alex re-entered the room with Evan White.

"Elizabeth," Beth turned when Evan called her name. "He let you go then?"

Gene Scoffed. "Evan White is your brief?"

Beth shrugged, "He's a family friend. Used to work for my uncle, besides he's the best." She turned to Evan, "they've let me off but I need you to help Will."

"No bloody way, if your going to represent him we may as well release him now."

"Do you think he did it?" Evan was asking all of them; Gene nodded, Alex and Beth shook their heads. "Then it seems we have a case, I'd like to see my client please."

"One thing White, don't tell him we let Elizabeth here out. I'm counting on using her as leverage."

"But DCI Hunt, wouldn't that be classed as withholding information?" Evan had a hint of a smirk on his face as he said it, knowing he had won.

"Well in that case you can wait until tomorrow, we need to talk to him first." He gestured between himself and Alex.

"Alright, I won't tell him. But you do not question my client with out me present."

"Great," Beth slid off her desk upon which she had perched when Evan arrived. "Now can someone drive me back to the theatre?" Gene glared at her and then at Alex who was sat on her desk mirroring Beth.

"I don't know DI Price, Drake and I are very busy with the suspect we've just arrested. Much too busy to be acting as your personal taxi service... Perhaps we can find a plod to drop you off." Beth's face clearly demonstrated her annoyance, she didn't want to draw attention to the fact that she had been arrested. "Don't look so upset Price, if your a good girl they might even put the siren on for you." She threw her hands up in despair and stomped out to the desk presumably to ask Viv for a pool car, Gene held open the door to CID and shouted after her for Viv to ignore her request and put her in a squad car. Beth could be heard complaining as the door swung shut, Gene spoke to Alex and Evan who was still standing in the no-mana land that was the centre of CID "Christ it's like having a teenager," he pulled the door open again "Make sure she goes in the back of the car Viv, someone's just lost her riding up front privileges." Beth could be heard making her frustrations very clear to the poor PC given the job of driving her back. "And don't feel like you can't cuff her if necessary."

"Gene!" Alex had been shaking her head at him through most of this but now saw fit to voice her opinion... He rolled his eyes knowing what was coming.

"Maybe we should retire to my office before we do this Drakey and leave Mr White to his business." He didn't wait for an answer just strolled in the direction of his office knowing she'd follow. Alex bid goodbye to Evan who went to meet Will in an interview room then followed Gene to his office.

"Was that really necessary Guv?" She wasn't shouting, which frankly scared Gene more. "You'd already humiliated her by arresting her and parading her through the station she works at in cuffs, now you're treating her like a child. Next you'll be telling her that her skirt is too short." Alex inwardly chuckled as she remembered Evan having that particular conversation with a teenage her on various occasions, the smile was quickly wiped from her face by Gene's response.

"I wouldn't do that Alex, you know how much I enjoy a short skirt." Alex left the office slamming the door on the way then repeated the action with the door to CID, she had thought that they were going somewhere but then he expressed a wish to see Beth in a short skirt. Clearly he didn't feel about her the way she did about him, Alex trotted down the steps from the station needing some air she walked towards no-where in particular.

"Drake! Drake?" Having given Alex what he thought was enough time to cool down from whatever it was he'd done to piss her off, (to be honest he wasn't sure what it was) Gene poked his head out of his office hoping to interview Will before Evan left... Alex was no-where to be seen. Gene walked out into the corridor and looked from side to side, still not seeing his DI he tried the nearest interview room. Evan opened the door.

"Ah DCI Hunt I was wondering if you'd be joining us."

"Oh White... Yeah um, actually I was." He looked between the two men in the room, clearly neither was Alex. "Have you seen...? No I mean never mind." He left the room to continue his search leaving Evan and Will looking bemused.

"Well that was odd, anyway I don't think it should be too difficult to prove you innocent. I'll get onto the Chinese restaurant and you just sit tight."

"Thank you Mr White, is Lizzie going to be okay?"

"Umm," Evan wasn't comfortable lying to him. "I really don't know yet." Fortunately he was spared any further questions by Gene re-entering the room, having given up his search for Alex he had brought Ray to help question Will and was clearly very annoyed about it."

"Where's Lizzy?" Will didn't even give Gene time to sit down.

"Detective Inspector Price is in custody, where she will remain until I have decided what to do with her." His tone warned Will against saying anything else, "But, if you tell us what we need to know I'll see to it that she's treated nice." Will remained quiet for most of the interview only speaking when Evan needed him to clarify something. Evan pressed for him to be released since they couldn't prove he had done anything, but Gene was very much against that idea and he was taken back to the cells. Will craned his neck looking in through every window they passed in the hope of seeing Beth, little did he know she was actually on stage at that moment.

Beth's mind wouldn't stay on the job in hand, dancing that is. She kept wondering if Will really had done it, it would fit with her theory that the dancers were being punished for dancing incorrect steps but she couldn't believe that he was capable of such a thing. Beth stepped onto the wrong leg for the move she was doing and kicked the dancer next to her, causing her to stumble. Both dancers did as they had been trained to and carried on as if nothing had happened, making it through the rest of the routine with no mistakes.

"Are you okay?" The other dancer Elizabeth whom Beth had kicked walked back to the dressing room with her.

"Yeah, I'm so sorry. My mind was somewhere else entirely, I can't believe I've let real life creep into my dancing."

"We all make mistakes, especially now. We're all dancing scared all the time, it's a wonder we get to the end every night."

"That doesn't make it okay though, I'm just..." Beth couldn't put into words the fear that was coursing through her, if her theory was right then she could be in a lot of trouble.

The girls pushed open the door to their dressing room and sure enough there was a letter stuck to the mirror.
