He woke up feeling groggy. His mouth was dry. He was dazed and confused. He couldn't remember going to bed. Maybe Charles had done it. He looked around his room and saw Hank checking a chart. He immediately became full of dread.

'Why aren't you with Chrissy?' He tried to get up but struggled.

'Hey, don't move till you've ate. We had you on an IV for four days but you need something solid, then you'll be fine to walk around.' He must have sent a mental note to the professor; he made no move to get food.

'Four days? How's Chrissy? Is she awake yet?'

'Peter don't you remember anything about what happened before you went to sleep?'

He shook his head, his memory was foggy but he tried to focus his attention on Crystal. He had an image of her in the moonlight, it didn't seem quite real. He wasn't sure if it had been a dream or not.

'You proposed and then she tranced you. For your own good might I add. She's ready for you to wake up now.'

'What do you mean ready?'

'She knows you better than anyone. Once she spoke to your parents and realised that you meant what you said, she knew you wouldn't be patience enough for a long engagement.'

Erik entered the room in that moment, dressed in a grey suit with a silver rose in his button hole. He was carrying a tray piled high with food and had a suit on a coat hanger floating behind him. 'Eat this, then put that on.' The smile on his face was a priceless moment for Peter. He had never seen his father look so proud. 'Oh, and your mother is downstairs. Don't worry, Crystal has made us call a truce for the day.'

'No way.' He half couldn't believe Chrissy could pull a wedding together in four days, let alone stop her parents from arguing after not seeing each other for nearly three decades. 'How did she even get a mister or a licence we me zoned out?'

Hank gave a slight cough drawing Peter's attention. 'I'll be ordaining. As for the licence, she convinced Charles to go get it. Frankly, he's so pleased she's fine that he'd give her anything she wanted at this point. Why else do you think he'd let his only daughter marry a trouble maker like you?'

Hank's bad joke relaxed Peter. If Hank was attempting humour, everything must be alright and back to normal.

Fed, showered and dressed in record time, Peter was downstairs and led out into the garden. It had been transformed. There was a small canopy decorated with silver roses (what else would she choose?). He heard his mother fussing over some of the mutants from Chrissy's class.

He was at her side instantly. 'Hey mom'

'Peter you're awake. Good, now stand there and don't fidget.' She began ushering his away, clearly distracted by the event.

'Mom. I could have died and you're just brushing that off. I'm deeply hurt.' He smiled as he said this, seeing the pride in her face.

'You did not nearly die. You napped for four days. I've told you a thousand times to look after yourself. In ten minutes you'll be Crystal's to deal with and she'll be the one legally obligated to make sure you behave.' She pulled him in for a hug and wiped 'happy tears' from her face.

She walked with him to the canopy, passed the rows of white chairs for family, friends and students. He was met by the professor at the front. 'How are you feeling Peter?'

'I'd say overwhelmed but I feel my normal self now. Is there cake? I'm still hungry.'

'It'll probably take you a few days to get your eating habits right again. I told Crystal to wake you after three days but...'

'She thought she'd surprise you instead.' Erik was here. How the universe didn't implode with all three of their parents standing so close to each other Peter would never know.

After the most awkward and forced two minutes of his life as the parents continued their conversation, the professor beamed 'she's ready.'

Everyone took their positions. Jean and Sage came out first in pale pink bridesmaid dresses. Jean shot him the biggest grin. She had known he'd been carrying that engagement ring in his pocket since he and Chrissy had got back from him mom's house, it was his grandmother's. She'd caught him mentally practicing how he was going to ask. She'd bugged him for weeks on when he was going to finally be pop the question, but had agreed that it lost a touch of romance if they were both suited up training for a battle.

He lost his trail of thought once Crystal stepped out onto the grounds. She was gorgeous. He knew he shouldn't but he couldn't wait for her to make the short walk to him to take in this vision properly. He nipped down quickly just to have a glance. She'd never notice. She wore a short lace wedding dress. Sheer lace ran down her arms and across her neckline. The lace ran over her dress and was decorated with embroidered roses. There was a small silver crystal accentuating her waist line ever so slightly, her hair adorned with matching crystals in its French twist. He couldn't help put give her a quick, but gentle, kiss before returning to his place.

She smiled up at him, brushing her lips. Maybe she had noticed after all. She met him, stopping only to kiss her father on the cheek as she passed.

'Hey you. Nice sleep?' She laughed as she spoke. Her happiness radiating across the grounds.

'This is better.'
