Chapter 25:The In-between Times
I own nothing but my OCs
I'm kinda happy for the unknown amount of time between Voice in The Night And Spirit Of Competition. Gives me a bit of a break on writing canon characters. I just gotta figure how long I should make the break between the two episodes. I know it started snowing in Spirit Of Competition.
So at best I wanna say a couple of weeks
Air Temple Island- Early Morning
I yawned as I waited for the Ferry to reach the docks. I could probably waterbend back to the city, but this is my only act of defiance for this day.
You'd think that since I saved the Avatar I'd get a bit of a break.
But no, this Universe is out to fuck me in every way. A week hadn't even passed after the incident with Amon before I was called into the office by Lin.
By called in, I mean she called Tenzin to yell at me to get my ass to the station. And from that call he blasted my out of my bed to quote,"Do my job"
So here I am standing in the fucking cold, waiting for a boat that I didn't need to wait for.
Could this day get any worse?
"Hey Yoh! Wait Up!", I blinked staring at the rapidly approaching Avatar.
Korra quickly rushed up to me, stealing all my personal since her 'rescue' Korra has been trying to be nicer human being.
The key word being try.
She was smiling a lot more, but they seemed a bit more strained. Like she was forcing herself to laugh at my jokes and quips.
But that can't be true I'm fucking hilarious!
It honestly made living on the island with her pretty awkward. I had tried to convince Tenzin to make her move into Republic City but he responded negatively to that idea.
I gave her a smile and patted her on the head,"No"
And then I jumped into the sea to waterbend to the Republic City Docks.
Republic City Police Station- Day
The surf to the city was actually pretty liberating. I kinda feel sorry for the ferry driver, I kinda left him or her looking like an idiot.
But that's not important right now. Right now the important thing was why Lin called me in. So now I was sitting across from her while she glared at me.
For some reason my carefree attitude really pissed her off. I can only make guess as to why.
"So what's the fuss Boss?" I gave her a bright grin. Her frown darkened even more.
"Officer Yoh...Why did it take a week and a call from your Chief to get your ass here to make your report on confronting a known wanted criminal?!", Lin glare could melt steel. I can usually ignore glares like those and move on with day. But not from The Chief.
She's a scary woman. When she glares you do what your told and seventy percent more.
"I-well you see, what had happened was...Okay I-I got nothing."
She stalked around her desk to glare down at me,"Of course you don't, your a slacker!"
I flinched,"Hey I resemble that remark!"
"And the jokes! Can you be serious for more than a few seconds?"
I smirked,"Do you know who I am?"
In hindsight talking back to Lin Bei-Fong may have been a mistake.
One minute I was leaning back on a chair, the next I was being lifted into the air by my collar. I changed my tune pretty quickly after that.
"NO LIN-DONO YAMATE! OH GOD! OH SPIRITS! LET ME LIVE!"
Republic City Police Station-My Desk-Evening
It took the better part of the day to write my report, ignoring the amused glances my way from my fellow officers. Apparently the walls here are pretty thin. Everyone had heard my tearful plead for my life.
I'm not ashamed, I wanna live for a very long time. I'll lie, cheat, and beg to stay alive for as long as possible. But back to the task at hand.
If this is seriously how reports are for encountering Equalists, I'm gonna do anything possible to not fight those psychos.
Also because they might try to kill me for Amon my bitch. But mostly the first thing.
I sighed slowly, and tried to figure out how to rewrite the same bullshit again for my final summary on the events that trans-folded a cup of tea was placed on my desk. I blinked and looked up to see Ai with a raised eyebrow at me.
I stared back,"What?"
She hummed and sat down next to me,"Your never here"
I grinned,"That's because I have better things to do, don't tell Lin I said that. She will literally kill me"
We spent a minute laughing softly before Ai calmed down. She softly said,"You never come by and to talk to anyone. You'd have a better relationship with everyone if you came down once a week."
I stared at her," But that would take effort."
She stared back at me before snickering,"Well then could you come by to talk to me? I miss your stupid bull stories."
I blinked,"I can only promise to try"
She patted me on my head grinning,"I know."
"I'm not a fucking dog Ai"
"Bark like one"
"Why am I friends with you?"
Outside the Police Station-Night
I sighed one last time as I finally set foot outside the police station. A whole day wasted.
A whole day!
But at least I can finally go back to Air Temple Island and rel-
And then a girl on a moped screeched to a stop in front of me. I knew who it was the minute I saw that stupid jacket. Also she was the only person who'd drive so recklessly.
"Spirits dammit, what do you want Asami?"
She hopped off the bike and grabbed my arm to pull me towards the vehicle. I dug my feet in and strained against her,"Noooooo, let me sleep. I'm Tiiiired."
She glared at me and scoffed,"No we have places to be."
I stared at her incredulously,"Where do we have to go?"
Then a smirk crossed her face,"Fei Yen"
"Jesus Christ No."
"Okay, your going to have too explain who this Jesus guy is."
