Chapter 25: Month Three

Misaki told herself to take a deep breath in through the mouth and let it out through her nose. She has yet to have a complete pregnant woman meltdown but she felt a small one was coming up.

Misaki was standing in front of the mirror getting dressed. Her pants were half a finger too small to button and Misaki just cringed. She turned at to her side and examined her profile. This was not the body that showed all her hours in the gym. Her pregnancy was actually starting to show now. Misaki placed her hands on her stomach and tried to suck in a little.

The pants felt tight around the thighs and around the butt. All of Misaki's clothes just seemed uncomfortable. Pants didn't come close to buttoning, shirts were awkwardly plastered around her bulge, even her bra felt like it was cutting off her air circulation. Misaki gritted her teeth.

"You will not cry," she ordered herself. "You will not cry over pants. You will not cry over pants."

Misaki rarely cried but her first reaction to anything consisted of tears and that was so embarrassing. Angry? Cry. Sad? Cry. Happy? Cry.

"Hey Misaki," Takumi said, walking in to their bedroom. "You're taking forever-"

"Why can't you knock?!" Misaki screamed.

That did it.

"WHY CAN'T YOU GIVE ME SOME PRIVACY?! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Takumi held out his hands. "Sorry, I don't usually knock on our bedroom door..."

"That's because you don't care! I'm just trying to find some decent pants-" Misaki yanked them off her legs and threw it into the pile of other clothes that didn't fit her.

"But nothing fits! Just leave me alone!" Misaki exclaimed again.

Takumi picked up the tissue box from the nightstand and silently held it out to Misaki. Misaki grabbed a handful and started crying. Takumi cautiously walked over and hugged Misaki.

"Don't cry, honey," he soothed. "We'll just buy new clothes or you could wear a dress. You could wear leggings under it if it's cold out."

Misaki threw the wad of tissues into the trash.

"Yeah, I know..." Misaki said, feeling embarrassed. "I just can't control myself. There's something wrong with me-"

"No no no," Takumi said. "It's just something called...hormones."

"Don't tease me," Misaki said, collapsing back onto the bed. "I knew getting up today was a mistake..."

Takumi chuckled and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Misaki," he said, patting her leg. "I love you."

"You're weird..." came the muffled reply.

Takumi smirked and lightly pounced on Misaki.

"If you just wanted to cuddle, you could have just said so," he whispered.

"Get off!" Misaki exclaimed. "No one wants to cuddle with you!"

Takumi just smiled and nuzzled her neck. "I want to cuddle with you," he said, holding her close.

Misaki tried to squirm out of his hold but Takumi wouldn't let her.

"I'll let you go when you've calmed down," he murmured into her hair.

"I'm very calm!"

"I want to hear your sweet tender voice..."

"Takumi..." Misaki said. "If you don't stop being so disgusting, you're sleeping in the guest room for the rest of the month."

"That's not very nice, Misa Chan," Takumi pouted, letting Misaki sit up. "You can't deny me your company."

Misaki couldn't help but laugh. Takumi laughed too and lightly traced circles on the side of her thigh.

"Can we make up now?" Takumi asked.

"How?" Misaki asked, lying on her side.

"Make out make up session?"

Misaki blushed. "No way, pervert."

"Come on," Takumi said, tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "Just one kiss?"

Misaki swallowed and nodded. "Okay..."

She closed her eyes as Takumi pressed his warm lips to her's. Misaki still wasn't sure how intimate she wanted to get right now but Takumi was pretty persuasive.

Kisses led to caresses which led to more touching. Takumi rolled onto his back with Misaki on top of him without breaking the steamy kiss. His hands roamed about on her body.

The hot moment was ruined when Misaki felt a stab of nausea in her stomach. She pushed off Takumi and streaked to the bathroom.

Takumi was a pro now. He kept Misaki's hair back and gently rubbed her back in a circular motion. Misaki brushed her teeth again and washed her face when her stomach finally calmed.

"I guess that killed the mood, didn't it?" Takumi teased, watching Misaki wipe her face with a towel.

Misaki gave a sheepish smile. "It really did..." she sighed.

"So breakfast?" Takumi said, pretending not to care.

"Something light please..." Misaki told him. "Sorry honey…" she added.

"Its okay," Takumi said, patting her head.

He threw a backwards glance at their bed before going downstairs. After he left, Misaki changed into a stretchy knee length dress and strolled into the kitchen. Misaki hugged Takumi from behind as he was cutting up fruit at the counter.

"This is new," Takumi noted as Misaki rested her head between his shoulder blades with a soft sigh.

"What is...?" Misaki asked, absentmindedly tracing the lines of Takumi's abs through his shirt.

"The affectionate touching," Takumi said, arranging the fruit on a plate.

"I'm always like this..." Misaki said, pushing Takumi's shirt up to feel his stomach.

Takumi turned around and pinned Misaki's arms to her side.

"Don't start something you can't finish," he said in a low voice.

Misaki bit her lower lip and glanced up at Takumi who was staring her down.

"I just want to be close to you..." Misaki said, looking at her socked feet.

Takumi smiled and placed a hand over her head.

"I'm going to go take a cold shower and then we can get all touchy feely without me attacking you," Takumi said, cheerfully and then left the kitchen.

Misaki blushed and nibbled on her apple slice. Normally, Misaki wasn't very forward with her feelings or very bold in the physical department but these days Misaki felt like a different person. The smell of Takumi's soap and natural scent was intoxicating for her. She just wanted to be close to him. It was like she was having a high school crush on her husband. How embarrassing...

Takumi came back downstairs rubbing his hair was a towel. He was dressed in a pair of pajama bottoms and that was about it.

"You forgot a shirt," Misaki informed him.

"Did I?" Takumi asked, smirking.

He tossed the towel over a chair and took Misaki's hand. They walked into the movie room with the large couches. Takumi sat down on one and pulled Misaki so close she was practically on his lap.

"Isn't this what you wanted...?" Takumi whispered into her ear.

He placed his hand on the barely noticeable swell. Misaki smiled and nodded, snuggling up against him.

"Takumi?"

"Yes, love?"

"Do you want a girl or a boy?"

"I don't mind either,"

"But which would you want more?" Misaki asked.

"A girl,"

"Why?"

"Girls are less troublesome," Takumi said with a shrug. "And I want a little Misaki."

"You're not worried about having a teenage girl in the house?" Misaki teased, tracing the contours on his biceps.

"If she's a teenage girl like you were, I wouldn't mind at all..." Takumi told her.

"So the drama, the boyfriend-"

"No boyfriend," Takumi said.

Misaki giggled. "No boyfriend...?" she asked.

"No boyfriend," Takumi repeated.

"You're so weird," Misaki said. "You don't want our daughter to find love?"

"He has to deserve her love. Not just anyone will be good enough for her like how only I was good enough for you-"

"Takumi!" Misaki scolded. "You're just teasing me now."

Takumi kissed her on the forehead. "So what if I am? I think you secretly like my attention."

Misaki snorted. "Keep dreaming."

"So about earlier..." Takumi hinted at. "You still interested?"

"What?" Misaki asked, pretending not to understand. She never had an answer for that question.

Takumi took her hand. "You know what I mean," he said, tilting her chin up. "I'll be gentle," he offered.

Misaki blushed. "You're never gentle," she accused.

"That's because you don't want me to be-"

"SHUT UP!"

"I'll take it as a yes," Takumi said, kissing her.

They didn't get any farther than last time. Misaki's phone buzzed and she tried to reach for it.

"You have voice mail," Takumi muttered, kissing her neck.

"Its Sakura. She'll be pissed." Misaki said, answering. "Hello?" she said, breathing hard.

"Whoa…" Sakura said. "Good thing Ruri isn't on this call because she'd make you tell her what you were doing."

"I'm not doing anything-" Misaki gasped as Takumi bit her neck. Misaki smacked him over the head and ran the bathroom to check. Yup… she had a kiss mark on her neck.

"Takumi!" she hissed at the smirking guy leaning against the doorway.

"Look…" Sakura said. "If you and Takumi are a little busy at the moment, you can hang up and return to him."

"We're not!" Misaki exclaimed. "H-he.. He- HEY!" Misaki gasped as Takumi grabbed the phone out of her hand.

"Sakura," Takumi said, pretending to be breathing really hard. "I need Misaki's full attention right now. We're kinda working on baby #2."

Takumi hung up the phone and tossed it onto the couch. Misaki was utterly horrified.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!" Misaki screamed.

"That you're sleeping with me-"

"I know that but why would you tell her that?!" Misaki exclaimed, blushing. "That is so embarrassing! I can't believe you would say that! Oh my gosh, Takumi! You're such a creep! Why am I married to you?!"

Takumi chuckled. "I simply told the truth."

"You don't see Kuuga telling me when he and Sakura are doing that…" Misaki pointed out.

"That's because you'd be too embarrassed and just hang up," Takumi said, sitting back down on the couch.

"I would not!"

"Would too."

"Would not!"

Takumi was reading through Misaki's texts. "Well, you have a doctor's appointment in an hour," he informed her. "Sakura got you an appointment."

"Really?" Misaki asked, reading the text. "Oh wow… I didn't even get to thank her…" Misaki glared at Takumi.

Takumi just grinned. "So, third time's the charm."

"No," Misaki said. "That's what you get for stealing the phone."

"Are you serious?" Takumi asked.

Misaki shrugged and got changed into a pair of yoga pants and a loose blouse. Takumi tagged along to the hospital, claiming he had to make sure Misaki and the baby were okay.

"Misaki!" Sakura called, waving.

"Hey," Misaki greeted.

Sakura had just finished her appointment and Kuuga was with her. He wrapped a jacket around Sakura's shoulders and gave Takumi a weird smile. Misaki glanced at Sakura's face to Kuuga's to Takumi's. Takumi smirked back at Kuuga and Sakura giggled.

"What's so funny?" Misaki asked, feeling confused.

"Nothing," Takumi replied.

Sakura bit her lip to keep from laughing.

"Sakura…" Misaki warned.

Sakura tilted her head to the side. "I'd kill Kuuga if he left a mark like that on my neck," Sakura said with a shrug.

Misaki clapped down on her neck, feeling color drain from her face and then heat quickly filling it again. She had completely forgot about the kiss mark Takumi left on her neck.

"Oh no…" Misaki groaned, face palming. "Takumi!"

"It doesn't look that bad," Takumi said, studying it.

Misaki felt really self conscious with everyone examining her neck. She covered up the spot with her hand.

"Was this from your morning romance?" Kuuga asked.

"Sakura!" Misaki exclaimed. "You told Kuuga?!"

Sakura held up her hands. "Just being honest with my husband," she said. "He asked why I hung up so quickly and I told him."

"Ugh…" Misaki groaned again.

"Mrs. Walker?" a nurse called.

Misaki turned. "Well, see you later, Sakura," she said, walking toward the nurse.

"Bye Misaki!" Sakura said, waving.

Misaki and Takumi followed the nurse to a room where Misaki had her height and weight taken. She then was handed a paper gown to change into.

"Gross..." Misaki muttered after the nurse left. "All the things women have to go through while men can just sit in a chair and watch."

"Which is why women are such strong independent beings while we, men, depend on them so much," Takumi said, smiling.

Misaki unbuttoned her blouse and slid off her pants. After slipping on the hospital gown, she sat down and crossed her legs.

Luckily, they didn't have to wait long. The doctor knocked on the door and came in.

"Hello Mr and Mrs. Walker," she greeted. "Nice to see you again," she said, shaking both their hands.

The doctor looked through a few files as she sat down on her rolley stool.

"So any problems? Worries? Concerns? Has morning sickness gotten better? Worse?" she asked.

"Same..." Misaki sighed. "Maybe a little better than before."

Doctor nodded. "It happens. You just need to make sure to hold down enough food but looking at your weight, it's very healthy. Keep doing what you're doing."

"I have a question," Takumi said.

The doctor nodded.

"Is there anything we should specifically do?"

"For this month, lots of rest, nutritious food, light physical activity like a walk," the Doctor told him. "As the months progress that's when you have to start worrying about being careful with the movement but right now things should be fine. Speaking of which, let's get Mrs. Walker's ultra sound going," the Doctor said, gesturing for Misaki to lay down.

Takumi took Misaki's hand as the doctor pushed up Misaki's hospital gown and squirted the blue gel on her stomach.

Misaki let out a soft gasp as the cold gel hit her skin.

"A little cold huh?" the Doctor said, spreading out the gel with the device. The screen of the machine started forming a black and white picture.

"There's the baby..." Takumi breathed.

Misaki nodded, mesmerized by the screen. Was that really growing in her? There was actually another human being forming inside of her.

"Strong heartbeat," the Doctor concluded. "You can hear it."

Misaki listened through the stethoscope and felt teary eyed. The steady beating of her baby's heart was almost magical. Takumi took his turn afterwards. He glanced up at Misaki beaming.

"Wow…" was all he could say.

"Now its time for the less fun part," the Doctor said, sympathetically. "We need to run Mrs. Walker through several tests to make sure everything is perfectly healthy," she said.

After getting a whole check up, Misaki was deemed healthy and released. The Doctor printed out the pictures of the ultrasound while Misaki got changed.

"How are you feeling?" Takumi asked, as they were walking out of the hospital.

"That was not fun…" Misaki sighed. "I'm exhausted."

Takumi opened the car door for Misaki. "We'll be home soon," he promised, closing the door.

Misaki went home and immediately fell asleep on the couch. The only reason she woke up was because she smelled food cooking. Her stomach rumbled and Misaki smiled. Her baby was hungry again.

Takumi had stacked the couch with blankets and pillows. Misaki never felt more comfortable sleeping on a couch. She finally got up and walked into the kitchen.

"Hey," Takumi said, smiling.

"Hey…" Misaki said, yawning. "Dinner time already?"

"Yup," Takumi said, sipping something from a pot. "Made this soup. Its got lots of protein in it. I think you'll like it."

Misaki walked over and kissed Takumi on the lips which caught him off guard. "I love you," she said, getting the satisfaction of Takumi's surprised look that he tried to hide.
