"Speaking"

Thoughts

The explosion shook the street making Rin loose her balance and fall on her butt next to the car. Kagome was keeping her eyes trained on the collapsing building, in the last five she'd been able to feel all three oras(?); then one spiked drastically with an amazing amount of power...then the building had exploded and she felt nothing.

Not good... Kagome thought being sure to keep her features schooled so no one especially Rin would pick up on her worry.

"Look! Someone's coming out!" A man from the gathering crowd of nosy people shouted.

"Damn it!" Kagome shouted in aggravation startling Rin and the detectives.

Quickly Kagome sent out a pulse of her power and everyone except Rin and the detectives suddenly passed out.

"I just wiped their memories." Kagome said in explanation before anyone could ask.
"Smart." A calm voice said, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru now standing before them.

"Call for another ambulance." Inuyasha told the detectives, "we were never here, everyone passed out because of the explosion."

The detectives just nodded silently.

"Get in the car." Sesshomaru told the girls.

The ride to Sesshomaru's house was silent; Rin in all honesty didn't want to be there, especially since Inuyasha had just dropped them off at the manor and left with a very nervous and confused Kagome.

"Come mate we have much to discuss." Sesshomaru said.

Rin followed him inside mostly because she would need to in order to call a cab to take her back to her apartment.

Just because he may be going to apologize doesn't mean we're going to be a happy little couple She told herself. She wouldn't instantly forgive him, but she would hear and consider what he had to say.

Sesshomaru led Rin to the kitchen where a little green toad looking creature had just finished preparing a fruit salad and tea.

"My lady as requested of me all of your belongings were packed and brought here, and properly put away." The little imp told her in a squawking voice.

"Uhmmm...who are you?" Rin asked, She would yell about what he'd said after Sesshomaru said his piece.
"I am Jaken. Lord Sesshomaru's loyal servant." Jaken said with a smugness that had Sesshomaru rolling his eyes.

Rin smiled warmly and thanked him for fixing her something to eat.

"Jaken you may dismiss yourself for the rest of the evening." Sesshomaru said.

"Yes Mi' Lord." Jaken bowed and quickly scurried down a flight of stairs in a room that was off of the kitchen.

After about ten minutes it became apparent that Rin wasn't going to be the one to start the conversation. Jaken had made a pretty large bowl of the fruit salad, and she was content to just sit there eating and listen... for the moment.

Sesshomaru sighed before speaking.

"I would like to begin by apologizing for all of the terrible things you heard me say..." He began, "I didn't mean any of it."

"Then why say it at all?" Rin asked.

"I'm sure I don't need to tell you that I am incredibly prideful, and that I have to be in control of everything." Sesshomaru sighed.

Rin nods.

"Well, I was supposed to be above it all." He growled almost as though just thinking about it made hi furious. "I was supposed to be above fate ever interfering in my life." He continued to growl, "then not only does fate interfere; but it sends me on a murderous rampage in search of the woman it had chosen for me."

Sesshomaru looked out the window Rin still quietly eating.

"I've never needed anyone before...I've never even wanted anyone before." He said his tone soft and no longer full of anger. "I was supposed to be strong enough that when the need to take my mate came along I'd be able to just shrug it off."

"For someone whose supposed to be so incredibly strong and smart you sure are stupid." Rin said finishing the last of her snack.

"What are you talking about?" Sesshomaru demanded.

"Only stupid people try to fight fate, the smart ones all find a way to make it work." She shrugged.
"How do you suppose I do that?" He asked his tone suggesting that he was mocking her logic.

"You just go with it Sesshomaru." She sighed. "Go with the flow, everything will work out the way its supposed to in the end."

Sesshomaru had no response for that and returned to glaring out the window.

"Fighting it will only make things worse." Rin pointed out in a sing-song voice.

"Then come I have much to show you." Sesshomaru said mentally smirking as he led the way out of the kitchen.

Sesshomaru had shown her his bed room where accommodations had been made in the bathroom to suit her. The second closet in his bed room was also a walk-in and held her clothes, and shoes, and a dresser behind a rack of dresses held the things that couldn't be hung, a vanity was home to all of her makeup and hair stuff, and the other wall held a full length mirror.

"Sure is a big closet." She said her anger at his assumption that apologizing would fix everything between them a bit muffled as she took everything in.

"Only the best for the mate of this Sesshomaru." He said as though it were a simple and well known fact.

He then took her to a room that was downstairs and at the back of the manor. This room held all of her office supplies as well as her things for school and stuff she was going to need in order to make her sketches a reality.

"I wasn't quite sure what all you would need." Sesshomaru said watching as she explored.

"When did you do all of this?" She asked, Rin was actually touched that he'd put so much thought into getting her back.

"The morning after Inuyasha and Kagome paid you a visit." He replied.

"It looks like they didn't leave anything out when packing my stuff-..." She said, but stopped suddenly when her eyes went wide alarming Sesshomaru.

"What is it mate?" He demanded hurrying to her aid.

"I haven't started any of my homework and I have classes tomorrow afternoon!" She wailed.

Sesshomaru watched her panic for a moment before chuckling and giving her a quick kiss on the forehead.

"Then I will leave you alone to get started." He said.

Rin didn't waste any time getting her computer started up.

"Son of a bitch!" She exclaimed halting her actions when she suddenly realized that she'd just conceited victory to Sesshomaru.

AN: Here's a short but sweet update. I hope you all enjoy. Sorry for the wait writer's block can be a real bitch sometimes. :)

I plan to finish this before next month.
