Secret Life Season 7

Chapter 1

After College, 4 years later…

Grace POV

Graduation was amazing, four years of college done. Now if I can just make it through the next 4 years of med school I should be good. This past year has been so tough with the divorce but it was for the best. We will always be friends but once again it didn't work between us. I still remember our last fight before I asked for the divorce.

It was about 3 o'clock after my last class and I get home to our house and Jack is knocked out on the couch, I tried to wake him but he was drugged out on his prescription meds and booze. When he finally woke up, he just stared at me blankly.

"Jack, it has been months. I know you are hurting but I can't live like this anymore!"

He looks me straight in the eye "Well there's the front door, Grace."

I shove some of his empty beer bottles off of the end table.

"I want a divorce, and I mean it this time!"

I walked out of there and I haven't seen Jack since, he didn't even show up for court the day our divorce was finalized. He hasn't called, Ricky and Ben have tried to help him but he doesn't want help.

Ben POV

I'm sitting here in my study trying to outline my next novel. Adrian comes in with the twins, Blake and Brooke. I stare at her beauty and even after being married for 3 years she still takes my breath away. Blake calls out "daddy, daddy, daddy!" I get up and scoop him in my arms. He says, "Park daddy Park!" I laugh and say, "Awww why not? It is a beautiful day today."

Adrian says, "You can take them, I have lots of prep work for law school."

I say, "Okay baby, we will see you later. I love you"

She leans in to give me a kiss and says, "I love you too."

I say, "Say bye to mommy."

Blake and Brooke both shout, "Bye mommy, wuv you!"

Adrian laughs, "I love you too babies!"

Amy POV

Eating dinner with John and he looks up at me and asks, "Is daddy coming home?" I sigh, "No sweetie, daddy won't be home until after your bedtime."

"But daddy promised we would watch baseball tonight!" John exclaims.

I say, "I'm sorry John, daddy has to work. He started his own business and he has to work a lot."

John puts his fork down, "I'm not hungry, May I go to my room?"

I say, "Yes, you can."

Once he goes to his room I hear his door slam. I get out my phone and call Ricky. I call and he doesn't answer, so I call again.

He answers, "Is everything alright? I have a late meeting."

I shout, "No, everything is not alright! John is devastated and won't eat dinner because you promised to watch the Dodgers game with him tonight and you aren't home again!"

Ricky says, "I don't have time for this right now, I'm sorry. We will discuss this when I get home tonight."

I say, "Discuss what? You sleeping on the couch!"

Ricky says, "I'm used to it the last few months, I have to go. We will talk later, bye."

Ricky POV

It's almost 10pm once I get home. I sit in my car for a few minutes to work up the courage to have this fight with Amy again. I go inside and she has a blanket and pillow on the couch for me. I walk upstairs to the bedroom to shower and change.

Once I get out of the shower and get dressed, Amy is waiting for me arms folded with a scowl on her face.

She says, "Nice of you to come home!"

I say, "I'm doing the best I can, Amy. You know how it is with a start-up company. It takes a lot of hours."

She says, "You said it was going to get better, you know how it is every time you disappoint John. It's not fair to us!"

I plead, "It will get better, and it takes time. It doesn't happen overnight!"

Amy says, "It's been a year Ricky!"

I say, "Amy, a year isn't that long for a startup. You aren't complaining about our new house and cars."

She rolls her eyes and shouts, "So why would you want another kid if you are just going to neglect them too! I'm not going to have another baby if I'm going to feel like a single mom."

I say, "Oh so that's what this is about?! John is already 8, don't you want him to have a brother or sister."

She says, "More than that I want him to have a father. He misses you and so do I!"

I see that she is about to cry, "I'm sorry, I will do better."

She says, "That is all I ask, I won't believe it till I see it because I have heard that before."

I say, "It's late baby, let's go to bed."

She sighs and says, "The couch is ready for you."

I roll my eyes and walk out of the room, "Whatever Amy."
