-Marley's POV-
Damn I hate Math, it's so boring and-
Hey look!
JESUS!
What?
You scared the hell out of me!
Oh, haha sorry, but look, someone just threw a balled up piece of paper at you
Oh yeah
I think to myself as I notice the balled up paper on my desk, I turn my head around to see Kitty flick her eyes over to me and gesture with her hands to open it. I raise my eyebrow at her curiously before turning back around and opening up the note.
Hey beautiful, would you give me the honour of having a lunch date with you later today? – K
I smile brightly at the words written, feeling that familiar flutter of my heart against my chest before I turn my head around to nod excitedly at an expectant Kitty. She smiles cutely and fist pumps making me giggle. I reluctantly turn back around, to listen to my teacher go on and on about fractions. Yay.
…
Once I put away the books I didn't need anymore, I closed my locker and nearly jumped out of my skin when I saw a smiling Kitty leaning there.
"Oh my Gosh, you scared the hell out of me!" I exclaim, playfully slapping her shoulder as she chuckled at me. What is it with people scaring me today?!
"Sorry, so it is okay if I come to your place at around, say seven?" she asks me, making me smile as I think about our date later. I nod at her as the bell rings, signalling that it's time for glee.
"Yeah that sounds great, so what are we doing?" I ask her curiously and excitedly at the same time as we begin to walk down the hall, me wondering what my charming Kitty had planned for us this time.
"Hmmm, something fun" she replies, grinning at me as I huff playfully at her.
"Vague much?" I ask her, raising my eyebrow as she laughs, bumping her shoulder with mine.
"Well I can't tell you, that's the whole point of surprises Marls" she explains, making me pout at the thought of yet again not knowing what we're doing for our date.
"Fine, can you at least tell me what I should wear? Something fancy?" I ask her, not that I have anything fancy, just wondering. She answers almost immediately.
"Definitely not anything fancy, just wear something casual and comfortable…also something you don't mind getting a little dirty" she tells me and I nod, wondering what an Earth she had planned.
…
After glee I see Jake beginning to stroll over to me so I turn around and literally sprint out the door, heading for the kitchen to meet my mom.
"Hey mom" I pant as I burst through the doors after my run of escaping Jake. My mom seems surprised but smiles at me anyways.
"Hi sweetie, why are you so out of breath?" she asks me curiously, raising her eyebrow.
"I was running away…from Jake" I tell her, giggling a little when my mom groans loudly.
"Oh when will that boy ever learn?!" she half-yells, making me giggle even more. I sit down on my stool and smile brightly at my mom, giving her the puppy dog eyes.
"I love you" I tell her in a sing song voice, making her look at me with a glint in her eye.
"Oh no, what do you want?" she asks me, putting down her rag and giving me her full attention, with her eyebrow still raised at me. I bite my lip and bash my eyes at her.
"Can I please go on a date with Kitty later? Pleeeeease?" I ask her sweetly, she pretends to think it over for a few seconds before giving me her warm smile.
"Of course you can honey" she said happily making me squeal slightly in reply, jumping up from my seat and into her arms.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I squeal into her shoulder, trying to hold back my excitement for tonight but failing miserably.
"Oh that's okay sweetie, so do you know what you two are going to be doing?" she asks me curiously as she pulls away and goes back to cleaning the table. I sigh and sit back down on my stool.
"No, she won't tell me…but she did say to wear something that I wouldn't mind getting dirty…should I be worried?" I ask playfully making my mom laugh, turning to look at me.
"Oh sweetie, you should always be worried with these kind of things" she winks at me, making both of us giggle uncontrollably.
…
Kitty's POV
Ugh, thank god that session's over, the special teacher lady made me do FIVE tests and made me repeat every word she told me about some guy in the 1900's. She had to tell me about ten times before I finally got it right. Sure, this sucks big time but I'm glad I'm doing it, I need to fix this, I need to fix me. Not just for me though, for Marley too. I know she says that it doesn't matter to her, but I want to be able to deserve her, and with this stupid problem I have I feel she deserves much better than me. So I'm gonna try my best to fix me, try my best to be the person that she deserves.
"Hey dude" Jake appears next to me making me jump slightly, putting my hand to my heart.
"Jesus! Man, you scared the hell outta me! What are you doing here anyways, why haven't you left yet?" I ask him, calming myself down as he laughs a little at me.
"Well I was helping a cheerio out with her needs, if you know what I mean" he tells me, wiggling his eyebrows and I stop walking to stare blankly at him. Sometimes this guy is so disgusting.
"That's gross man, besides I thought you still liked Marley?" I ask him, silently praying that he would finally leave my girl alone.
"I do, but there's no reason why I can't have some fun in the process" he smirks making me gag a little, only half joking.
"Oh God, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little" I tell him, chuckling a little when he punches me in the arm.
"Shut up" he grumbles as we continue to walk down the hallway. Marley's most probably left the school with her mom by now, so now I just gotta go home and get ready for our date tonight. I unconsciously smile thinking about it, I can't wait to see her.
"So uh, how are the sessions going?" Jake asks making me look over to him to see he actually looks…concerned?
"Um, they're okay I guess, getting pretty tough though" I tell him honestly, which was kind of under-exaggerating since it was actually starting to get a little too tough for me. He nods understandingly as we walk down the nearly empty halls.
"Yeah well um, if you ever need anything then you can come to me okay?" he said, surprising me a little and making me stop in my tracks once more. But I quickly got over my shock and smiled slightly, nodding my head.
"Yeah, I know, thanks man" I said, playfully punching him in the shoulder to tone down all the sappiness. We both laugh a little, looking down at the floor for a few seconds before Jake slaps me on the arm making me look up at him confused and ready to yell at him.
"Hey, what the-"
"I almost forgot! I have to go meet Puck for lunch, later bro" he said, slapping my hand in some kinda weird hand shake.
"Um, later" I say as he runs down the hall. I stand there for a few seconds before shaking my head, turning back around and out of the school. I still needed to prepare for my date with Marley and it was already starting to get dark since my session was extra-long this time, what with all the freaking tests I had to do.
Oh, stop whining!
Wha- I'm not whining!
Uh, yes you are and stop it cause it's annoying!
Wanna know what else is annoying?!
"Hey Kitty" Ryder suddenly appears next to me smiling, interrupting my thoughts and, once again, scaring the hell outta me.
"Geez! People have got to stop doing that!" I exclaim, clutching at my quickly beating heart as Ryder stares at me with his eyebrows furrowed. What was with people scaring me today?!
"Um, doing what?" he asks me confusedly, and I take a couple deep breathes, finally calming down.
"Never mind, Ryder what are you doing here, school finished hours ago? Oh don't tell me you screwed a cheerleader too?!" I almost whined the last part and from the confused look he sent me, it looks like he thankfully hadn't.
"What? No! Why, who screwed a cheerleader?" he asked me curiously and I just wave him off.
"Doesn't matter, so why are you here?" I ask him again and a look of realization and a little nervousness comes across his face, making me a little confused.
"I uh, I wanted to wait up for you, y'know see if you were okay after your session. I know they can be pretty tough sometimes" he says, and again I'm surprised and a tad bit grateful that he's saying this stuff. I mean he really was the only person in this school that actually understood what I was going through right now, and maybe it'd be good to talk to him about it.
Wow, what is it with people suddenly worrying about you and your sessions today?
I know right?!
"Um thanks, yeah they can be…especially this one" I mumble the last part, not meaning for him to hear it but apparently he did since he touched my arm slightly making me look up into his concerned eyes.
"Why?" he asked simply and I moved back a step so his hand could drop off my arm whilst answering him.
"The special lady made me work extra-hard today" I explain, and he nods understandingly. We stand there for a few seconds silently before I look at my watch and my eyes widen at the time.
"So hey Kitty do you wanna-"
"Whoa, hey I'm sorry but I really gotta go" I tell him, interrupting whatever he was going to say, I have no idea since I wasn't really listening, and without waiting for a reply I sprint off down the street, racing for my house to get the stuff and go to Marley's. Man, I hope I wasn't gonna be late.
…
Half an hour later I find myself slightly out of breath as I knock on Marley's door with one hand, whilst holding a filled bag in the other.
What's in it?
Oh shut up you know exactly what's in it
"Hey Kitty" a beaming Marley interrupted my thoughts making me look up and see the most beautiful girl in the world.
She's just wearing sweats…
She could wear a garbage bag and she'd still look beautiful
"Hi, you look beautiful" I smile at her, my smile widening when I see a small blush take over her cheeks.
"Thanks but I'm only wearing sweats" she tells me, looking down to the floor. I smile a little, leaning down and tipping my head slightly so I could look into her eyes.
"Doesn't matter, you're still the most beautiful girl I've ever seen" I tell her with all the honesty in my heart, making a giggle come out of those pink lips and before I know it, those very pink lips were pressed against mine. Not that I'm complaining though.
Our kiss lasted for around five seconds, not long but felt as amazing as every kiss I shared with her.
"I missed you" she whispers against my lips as we pull away, both of us smiling like idiots.
"You saw me four hours ago Marls"
"Ugh, that's too long" she whines making me chuckle lightly bringing her in for a hug.
"I missed you too" I mumble into her hair, holding her close and breathing in her sweet scent that can only be described as Marley.
"Hey, what's in the bag?" I hear Marley ask me as we pull away and I look at her to see her staring down at the bag in my hand curiously making me smile as I think of what I have planned.
"This is all the stuff we need for our date" I tell her, smiling when I see her eyebrows furrow confusedly which only makes her look even more adorable. I chuckle a little, moving us through the door and closing it behind me as we step into the warmth of the Rose home.
"Well, what are we doing?" she asks me looking excited as we walk into her kitchen, I drop the bag down on the small dining table and lean on it, looking over to her.
"Cooking" I answer simply and I see her eyes widen a little in surprise.
"Cooking?" she asks and I just smile at her, starting to get the ingredients out of the bag.
"Yeah, I thought it'd be fun, y'know cooking some pizza, eating some pizza, lovin' some pizza" I say playfully, smiling when it makes her laugh.
"Hmm okay, so what have we got 'chef' Kitty?" she asks me playfully making me chuckle slightly before motioning to the ingredients in front of me.
"Well 'chef' Marley we have got cheese, ketchup, flour, salt, sugar, yeast, olive oil and for some flavour, basil. All together making Marley Rose's favourite, cheese pizza" I finish, clapping my hands together and smiling widely at a cute looking Marley who was observing each of the ingredients curiously.
"Sounds delicious…what do we do first?" she asks, making me laugh slightly whilst filling up a cup with some warm water.
"First my sweet little Marley, we make the dough" I tell her, already starting to put the ingredients together. She smiles at me, hopping up onto the counter next to me, swinging her legs back and forth.
"Oh and how do we do that my charming little Kitty?" she replies, raising her eyebrow at me playfully and I begin to show her how we make the dough. Taking her through each step and then giving her a try. I stand behind her and take her soft hands in mine, helping her nee the dough. I see her blush and chuckle slightly, moving to give her a quick kiss on the cheek which makes a cute giggle fall from her pink lips.
"I think it needs a little more flour" she exclaims, turning her head to give me a cheeky smile and I look at her a little confused, it didn't really look like it needed more flour. But my confusion was quickly washed away as I felt the dusty white substance flicked in my face and Marley's uncontrollable giggles.
"Oh you wanna do this?" I ask her playfully, wiping away the flour on my face as I grin at her. I see her eyes widen as I pick up a fistful of flour and before she has the chance to get away I quickly flick it on her face making her squeal.
Before I can stop her though she grabs the ketchup and squirts it all over my shirt making me gasp and her wildly laugh.
"Take that!" she yells smiling and I just laugh wrapping my arms around her and spinning her around making her squeal again. But I wasn't going to let her have the last laugh, no way. I quickly grab the ketchup bottle from her and squirt it all over her hair making her squeal even louder as laughter escaped both of us.
"What on earth is going on down here?" Mrs Rose bewildered voice stops us in our little game we created and we turn our blushing faces towards her sheepishly as she stands there with her eyebrow raised and an amused smile on her face.
"Mom! We were just…um…cooking?" Marley explained sheepishly after I had un-wrapped my arms from around her and hid the ketchup bottle behind my back, grinning at the older Rose woman.
"Hmm cooking huh? Well alright, clean up when you're done" she calls to us as she turns around and goes back upstairs. I swear that woman is the best parent ever. Marley brings me out of my thoughts as she wipes some ketchup on my face, smiling as she did so.
"Seriously?" I ask her playfully, trying my best to fight off the oncoming smile. She just shrugs adorably and giggles and I can't help the slight laugh that escapes my lips at how cute she is.
…
After we eventually stopped messing around, we finally finished the pizza and as we put it into the oven to cook, we decided to each take a shower.
Wait did you two-
Separately!
…Oh
So, feeling fresh and rid of flour and ketchup all over us, we sat at Marley's dining table and began to enjoy our homemade pizza.
"Mmmm, this is soo good!" Marley moaned as she took her first bite making me smile softly at her as I take another bite. It was pretty delicious, but since we'd used half the bottle of ketchup, we had to make the pizza smaller so there wasn't much of it we could eat. Probably about three slices each, but again even the slices were pretty tiny. None that it matters though, I'm just happy that we're together.
"Yeah, it really is" I agree, taking another bite and humming appreciatively at the taste. The next half hour was spent with Marley and I talking and laughing together, having the best time, not having to worry about anything and just enjoy finally being alone together.
Once we finished off the pizza, which didn't take long, Marley suggested that we put on a movie since neither of us wanted to part just yet. I let Marley choose and of course, she chose a romantic movie, Romeo & Juliet, the Leo DiCaprio version.
Romantic? More like tragedy
It's still one of the most epic love story's ever told conscience
Yeah, yeah okay whatever
What crawled up your ass and died?
What?
You're all grumpy and weird…
I'm just thinking about you know who-
No, nope, I told you we wouldn't think about that right now! I'm trying to enjoy my date with Marley!
But what if-
No!
But-
I said no!
…Okay so anyway, we've been watching the movie for a while now, cuddled up on her couch with my arm around her while she rested her head on my shoulder. It's simple moments like these where I wish I could just freeze time and stay here forever. Just me and her, nobody here to interrupt us or try to ruin our relationship, no drama, no heart break…just the calm and peaceful and safe feeling I get when I'm around this girl. The feel of belonging. That house that I have been living in for sixteen years, I don't belong there, I belong here. Wherever Marley is, that is exactly where I belong and where I want to be.
I must have gotten lost in my thoughts for so long that I missed the rest of the movie and the sound of Marley's small sniffles brought me straight out of my thoughts, my concerned eyes immediately moving to look at her tear stained face.
"Hey, hey it's okay, come 'ere" I softly speak to her, bringing her deeper into my arms, gently kissing her temple.
"It's sad" she cried into my chest making the edge of my lips lift up slightly in a half smile at how adorable she is. I softly stroke her hair as I whisper words of comfort to her.
"Well if you think about it, it's not so sad at all. You see, all Romeo and Juliet wanted was to be together, and they couldn't do that while they were still alive because of their families. So really death was the only way out for them, the only way for them to get the only thing they wanted, to be together, to be happy…yeah, it's not that sad at all" I explain, hearing her sniffles fade away as she brought her head up to look at me with her shining blue eyes.
"Really?" she asks, her voice wavering a little from her previous crying and I smile gently at her.
"I honestly have no idea, it's just what I like to believe" I say making her giggle a little as she wipes her eyes, nodding her head as she smiles at me adoringly.
"Yeah…I'd like to believe that too" she replies, leaning forward to capture my lips in a soft but incredibly loving kiss. Her lips tasted a little salty from fallen tears, but I didn't mind. I didn't mind one bit.
After a minute went by, we still hadn't pulled away. In fact we had actually begun to get more heated, as I requested entrance and Marley happily granted.
You might wanna calm down before things get too heated Kitty
…
Kitty?
…
KITTY?!
SHHH! I'm busy!
Alright fine, but don't say I didn't warn you
I put one hand on her waist and brought the other up to cup her cheek as she ran her fingers through my hair, bringing them round to clutch at the front of my shirt as she moved to straddle me.
Our kiss began to get heavier and heavier as I moved both my hands down to her waist, I heard one of us moan but I'm not completely sure who and to be honest I really don't care. Her grip on my shirt becomes tighter as she kisses me even harder, my hands moving down to rest on her legs, her long, beautiful legs-
"GIRLS! Don't you think Kitty should be leaving soon? It's getting late!" Mrs Rose's voice brings us out of our trance and forces us to pull away from each other, resting our foreheads against each other's as we get our breath back.
"Uh, y-yeah mom, Kitty was just about to leave!" Marley yells back, still panting a little as she brings me into a hug, still straddling me.
"I love you" she whispers into my shoulder, clutching onto me tighter. I hug her back just as tightly, not complaining at all.
"I love you too Marls" I whisper back, kissing her on the side of the head as she sighs happily, snuggling more into me. A few minutes went by before we finally broke apart and began to make our way over to the door, neither of us wanted to part but Mrs Rose was right, it was getting late and my mom might be wondering where I am, she's been a lot more observant lately…it's weird.
"Thank you for another awesome date" Marley smiled at me as I stepped outside, I smiled back warmly.
"Well every awesome girl deserves an awesome date" I say playfully making her giggle, shoving my shoulder slightly.
"You're such a cheese ball" she jokes.
"Yeah, but I'm your cheese ball" I respond softly, making her smile gently and nod her head a little in agreement.
"Yes you are" she smiles before leaning in to give me a small peck on the cheek.
"I would kiss you on the lips but then I would never let you go" she tells me, making both of us laugh lightly before I moved in quickly to give her the lightest of pecks on her lips, pulling away just as fast and walking backwards away from her as she bites her lip, smiling brightly at me.
"Goodnight Miss Rose" I say softly, playfully bowing making her giggle again before she got a playful look on her face also.
"Goodnight Miss Wilde" she replied, curtseying making me chuckle before turning around fully to walk back home, completely forgetting about everything that I was worried about, the only thing left in my thoughts was Marley Rose, and I couldn't think of anything else more perfect.
…
As I open up my locker a note falls out, expecting it to be from Marley, I smile and pick it up. When I open it up the smile immediately falls from my face. Guess who it's from conscience.
Hmm, could it be the asshole who seems to know all your secrets?
Sadly, you are correct
Ugh, why can't this person just leave me alone?! They're gonna make me go insane! I furrow my eyebrows a little at the few words written.
Contact me – you know who.
I crumple up the paper and walk down the hall, throwing it in the bin on the way to the choir room. Luckily when I entered, no one was inside since glee doesn't start for another twenty minutes.
I pull out my phone and open up a new text, beginning to reply to this asshole.
What are you doing? Why are you replying to this idiot?
Be quiet for a second
But-
Conscience!
Ugh, you complain about me not telling you to do the right thing and when I tell you to do the right thing, you ignore me! Seriously, make up your freakin' mind!
Yeah, yeah, seriously shut up
…!
Okay, what do you want?
I quickly text to this guy…or girl…whatever, it doesn't matter what their gender they are, they're still a little bitch.
A beep from my phone snaps me out of my bitter thoughts and I quickly look down to open up the new text.
I was just wondering if you were gonna tell people about your secret? Or secrets?
I furrow my eyebrows and swallow down the lump in my throat before typing back.
What do you know?
I almost immediately get a reply, like the person on the other end already knew exactly what I was going to ask.
Enough. You shouldn't keep all this from the glee club, they're your family. Either you tell them or I will. And I won't put it nicely.
Okay what the hell? Why is this person sending mixed signals? The first half of the text doesn't sound so bad but the second half sounds exactly like the asshole they're being.
What the hell is your problem asshole?!
I start to get angry again, but inside I'm still really scared of what they might know and how the heck they know it.
I'm trying to help you.
As I read the text, my eyebrow furrow further in confusion. I don't understand.
"Oh hey dude" I look up and drop my phone in surprise, calming down when I see it's only Jake. He looks at me curiously, bending down to pick up my phone and I stand up in panic, taking the phone off him before he had a chance to read the text. He raises an eyebrow at me and I just shrug, putting my phone in my pocket and trying to act cool.
My eyes flick down to the phone in his hand and I start to get suspicious.
"Who you texting?" I ask him curiously; I see a small look of panic flash in his eyes before he shrugs it off and smiles.
"Oh, just Puck, why?" he asks me, putting his phone away also. I furrow my eyebrows a little at his weird behaviour.
"No reason…so uh, what are you doing in here this early?" I ask him, sitting back down as he sits next to me, shrugging.
"I wanted to go over some notes, thought why not do it here? What are you doing in here?" he asks back and I stutter for a second.
"I uh…I was doing…Marley!" I yell out, standing up.
"Marley?" he asks confused, I just point to the doorway where the brunette was walking in, holding her backpack straps and looking at us with her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
When Jake turns his head and sees her, he stands up also.
"Marley! Hey" he grins, making me turn to him with a 'really' look on my face. He just shrugs at me and goes back to grinning at Marley who looked pretty confused.
"Uh hey, what are you two doing in here?" she asks us both, her eyes flickering from me to him with a raise of her eyebrow. I go to answer but Jake cuts me off, walking towards her.
"Well we-"
"That doesn't matter, what does matter though is that you're looking extra nice today" he says, standing in front of her and winking. Nice? Nice?! That's the best he could come up with? Gorgeous? Beautiful? Amazing? Nope, she just looks 'nice'.
Oh my GOD, shut up
"Didn't you say you had some notes to look over?" I grit out, not liking how close he was to Marley. He waves a hand at me in a lazy manner.
"Doesn't matter, this is much more important" he grins at Marley again, she looks over to me and widens her eyes a little, giving me that look which says 'help me!' I just give her a helpless look and shrug my shoulders a little.
"Oh hey guys" Ryder walks in, what the heck!
"Why is everyone coming in here so early?" I mumble to myself as Jake and Marley turn to look at him. While Jake's attention is on Ryder, Marley slips away from him to come and stand beside me, giving me a pointed look.
"What?" I mumble in question, she doesn't say anything and just slaps my shoulder.
"You just let him be all gross with me!" she exclaims wildly, whispering though so Jake and Ryder couldn't hear us.
"Sorry" I grumble in reply, rubbing my arm slightly but still looking sincere which makes her give me a soft smile.
"Hey guys, I didn't think you'd be in here this early" Blaine smiled at us as he walked in. Yeah, I didn't think so either, and yet here we are.
"SO anyway, Marley what are you singing for guilty pleasures week?" Jake asks my girlfriend, turning away from Ryder.
"Um, Unique, Tina, Brittany, Kitty and me are gonna do spice girls" she answered making me furrow my eyebrows and move in slightly to whisper to her.
"I am?" I whisper in slight confusion.
"Just go with it" she whispers back and I nod as she forces a smile at Jake when he raises an eyebrow at her. He smirks back, looking cocky again. It's times like these where he gets really annoying.
"Really? That's awesome, I'm gonna do some Chris Brown, isn't his music so good?" he exclaims, grinning at Marley who looks really angry right now and inside I'm smiling like hell at what's about to happen. Marley absolutely hates Chris Brown.
"What?! You're doing Chris Brown as in the Chris Brown that beat on his girlfriend! That Chris Brown?!" she asks, her voice rising with each word she says.
"Uh yeah? Look see where you're coming from but I thing he has great music!" he exclaims once more making Marley step forwards towards him and before she can say anything else, Tina, Brittany and Unique walk into the room. Okay this is getting ridiculous, why is everyone coming in this early?! Doesn't matter though cause Jake is gonna get it now.
"Did I just hear Jake likes Chris Brown?" Tina asks in disbelief.
"Oh no he didn't!" Unique shouts.
"He beat up a window at Good Morning America" Brittany exclaims.
"He says horribly misogynistic things on twitter" Marley says as if it's a sin to ever like Chris Brown and I can't help but smile a little at the look on Jake's face.
"But most of all he beat up his girlfriend Rihanna!" Tina finishes for them all and Jake rolls his eyes a little.
"I know, I know! But come on, that's why he's my guilty. Pleasure. I like his music and I feel guilty about it" he explains and Marley looks at him in disbelief, along with the other girls.
"You like his music?" she asks him and he looks like a deer caught in headlights right now.
"Some of it yeah, I mean…okay look, we do Rihanna, Whitney Houston and Brittany Spears songs all the time and none of them are role models" he exclaims and Brittany immediately gets defensive.
"You shut your mouth!" she shouts but that doesn't stop Jake from going on, ooh bad move buddy.
"Okay look at Rihanna, I mean do we really think that bad girl RiRi is a role model, I mean she is the one who got back together with him!" he yells over all the girls who begin to talk again and I faintly hear Marley say "are you kidding me?!".
"Look all I'm saying is, I think we should be able to separate the art from the artist" he exclaims and I gotta admit, I kinda agree with him a little bit.
"Well, I don't think you should, and personally, I can't listen to his music without thinking about the horrible person behind it" Marley says back, crossing her arms over her chest as the rest of the girls mutter agreements with her.
Jake goes to disagree but Mr Schue walking in, followed by Sam and Artie interrupts whatever it was he was about to say, hmm look who's early for once.
"Hey guys, good you're all here, everybody take a seat" he tells us all and Jake walks over to me looking defeated as all the girls stomp away.
"Oh dude" I laugh at him as he pushes me away slightly.
"Shut up" he grumbles, taking a seat next to me on the rises as Marley sits on my right, still looking a little annoyed like all the other girls in the room, including Unique. I wrap an arm around her shoulders in what could look to be a friendly manner to comfort her. She turns her head to look at me for a second before her lips lift up in a small grateful smile and we both turn back to Mr Schue.
"So, if you guys have anything to perform-"
"Mr Schue can I please say something?" Unique interrupts him and Mr Schue looks a little startled for a second before he responds, moving to sit down next to Artie.
"Uh, sure Unique go ahead" he exclaims, gesturing to the floor and sitting down. She gets up and walks to the front with her hands placed firmly on her hips as she directs her glare to Ryder.
"Well our very own Ryder Lynn here has been questioning me about my gender" she exclaims, glaring at him and causing confused mutters to sound throughout the choir room, all of us turning to look at Ryder who sighs and shakes his head slightly in annoyance.
"Okay fine, what do you want from me?" he asks her and I turn to look at Marley to see her looking less confused as everyone else, I guess she knew about this since her and Unique are best friends and all.
"Say I'm a girl" she says bluntly, that sounds fair enough I think to myself. But apparently not for Ryder though as he laughs a little and gets up to walk to the front, shaking his head.
"Look I'm just so confused okay, yesterday you were dressed as a boy, today you're a girl, what-what bathrobe do you use? I mean make up your mind" he says, breathing out a small humourless laugh at the end and everyone looks at him disbelievingly as Unique starts to look a little hurt at his words. I can't believe this guy, what's his problem?
"It doesn't matter what you see, you don't get to decide for me!" she exclaims angrily before storming out of the room, all of us looking helplessly after her. I lick my lips, looking down for a second before turning my gaze back onto him.
"You are a douchebag dude. I mean in this room we can be whatever we wanna be" I tell him and I see Marley and everyone else nod their heads in agreement with me. I really thought this guy was better than this.
…
"Hey, Unique!" I call after her as I see her walk down the hall. She turns and looks at me questioningly as I catch up to her.
"Are you okay? I mean what happened earlier in the choir room…look Ryder was totally out of line-"
"Kitty, it's okay, I mean I'm used to it" she replies, looking down slightly.
"Yeah but you shouldn't have to be" I exclaim but she just shakes her head at me.
"That's just the way it is Wilde-cat, and it's never gonna change. People are gonna look at me and be confused whether I'm a guy or a girl and I'm okay with that because this is who I am" she explains, turning around and walking down the hall with me staring helplessly after her. I can see that she didn't really mean that, Ryder hurt her and now I have to make things right.
I pull out my phone and send a text out, a plan already forming in my head.
…
After school I walk into a classroom to see Marley, Jake, Ryder and Unique sitting in various places. Marley and Unique were glaring at Ryder and Jake, and the two boys looked kind of confused and uncomfortable.
"Okay dude, what's the deal?" Jake asks, standing up and walking over to me. I pat him on the shoulder as I walk past him and move to sit next to Marley on one of the tables; she looks at me with her eyebrows furrowed slightly but also with a small smile on her face.
"Look, I called you guys here today because we need to settle this feud once and for all…look friendship is about trust, I mean it's like playing football, sometimes one of us will fumble the ball and make a mistake but it's just, a mistake…and we should make up for those mistakes by…talking it out and saying we're sorry…and you know that, if you give that one of us the ball again…they won't let you down" I tell them, making them all softly smile at me, Marley rubbing my arm slightly making me look at her for a second it before clapping my hands together and turning to Unique and Ryder.
"So come on! You two need to talk it out, Ryder you fumbled the ball this time and now you need to make up for it…so go ahead" I tell him, motioning to Unique. He sighs before turning to her.
"Unique…look I'm not gonna pretend like a understand everything that's going on with you…but you have a truth, and as your friend I need to support that truth so…you're a girl, dude" he finishes with a smile, Unique makes a sniffing sound and we all get alarmed looks on our faces.
"Holy crap, did I mess that up?" Ryder asks her, looking worried and she shakes her head at him, a tear falling down her face.
"No, it's just…" she starts and I see Marley looking at her concerned as she reaches out to rub Unique's shoulder comfortingly.
"A few days ago…I decided to walk home in all my girl glory…and a group of popular girls came after me, calling me names and…I got home before they caught up to me but I was so. Scared" she tells us and Marley speaks up, looking determined.
"I'm walking you home from now on" she tells her and I nod my head to, a little upset we didn't stop this sooner.
"Yeah, me too" I say softly but also determinedly.
"Me three" Ryder speaks up also.
"Me four" Jake states too, making us look to him in surprise.
"Wait…we're friends?" Unique asks, looking bewildered.
"No, but I'm Kitty's friend…and kinda Ryder's and you're friends with both of them, so I guess…a friend of my friend is a friend of mine…or whatever" he explains, shrugging and it was as nice as Jake was going to be I guess so we all smiled at him a little.
"Alright guys now, I don't know about you but I'm a winner and I wanna win regionals so why don't we just cut the crap and stop the fighting" I exclaim making all of us laugh little.
"Friendships are tested like this all the time…and the ones that are real, are the ones that pass the test" Marley says, smiling at all of us as I look at her adoringly.
"Artie and Tina and Sam…and probably Brittany are all gonna be gone next year, and it's gonna be up to us to keep up the glee club torch" Ryder tells us, we all nodding in agreement with him.
"And not just winning competitions, but the legacy of being the only place at this school…at any school, where the most special thing you can be is yourself" I speak up, looking at all of them with a smile.
"Think we're up for it?" Unique asks playfully, looking at each one of us for an answer.
"Are you kidding? This place ain't seen nothing yet!" Jake exclaims, high fiving me as a chorus of 'yeah's' and laughter fill the room.
"Yeah!" Marley cutely fist bumps making me smile and chuckle.
"Oh yeah" I drawl out, wrapping an arm around Marley's shoulders again as we laugh and she hugs my side tightly. We high five each other, laughing and joking around and I'm pretty sure we've passed the friendship test Marley was talking about.

A/N:…hi? God, I can't even begin to express how sorry I am for how freakin' late this update was! I have been unbelievably busy with school, seriously I get multiple pieces of homework every day and I am having SO many tests to revise for right now it's ridiculous but between all of this madness I have found the time to write this chapter for you guys, it's long too so hopefully that makes up for it a little bit.
I would really love to hear your thoughts on this chapter and who you think the mystery person is and whether you think they actually are helping or just making Kitty's life hard xp so please, please, please review! I could really use them to cheer me up from the suckiness that is school.
I will try to get the next chapter up A LOT quicker than this one, no promises though. BUT I will even begin working on it, right. Now. So hopefully it won't take as long. I love you guys, and will see you next chapter ;)
