Murphy

Buzzing like a low humming sound rung in his ears as he took a deep breath trying to ease the pressure his lungs felt they were under. He rolled onto his side as gravity seemed to release him from the ground. He looked up to see stars above them without a cloud in sight. He looked back over to his side as Conner seemed to come alive again as well as the others around them.

"Marina." He gasped suddenly as he shot up and flinched from the stiffness.

He froze as he saw the village around them in tact as a light silver mist settled in the air. He swallowed hard as he spotted them in the middle of the courtyard Michael was standing in the middle of the platform now cleared of its previous debris holding Marina in his arms a smile on his lips as he looked down at her before it quickly vanished, as she began to fall.

He scooped her up easily into his arms like a small child and it was only then that he noticed the blood.

Before he could move towards them Declan was rushing them towards one of the buildings. He caught Michael's eye before they vanished and received a reassuring smile from him before the doors to the grand room opened and Lady Aria rushed out with the others.

He started towards them and watched as the women and children reunited with their loved ones. He stopped next to Lord Craven who was looking rather shocked as he spoke.

"I can't believe they did it with just one." He whispered in disbelief.

"Lord Craven, Micheal, he's here."

"He and Declan took Marina to the infirmary."

"She's really hurt." He explained and watched as the man nodded mutely and motioned for him to follow him. He obliged as they started off in the same direction that Michael and Declan had taken Marina.

His heart was hammering in his chest as he prayed that she was alright. He didn't know what had made him tel lord Craven but he felt like he needed to.

They rounded the corner as Michael stepped out of a room a few yards ahead and looked over at them. "Great just the guy I wanted to see." Michael said sarcastically as a small smile tugged at his lips.

"It has been too long Michael." Lord Craven said stopping in front of him a few feet away.

"Oh no my lord I meant your companion." He clarified making Murphy stiffen in surprise.

"Relax, I'm just kidding jeeze." He teased and offered Lord Craven his hand which he took and shook his head.

"I'm reminded of how grateful I am to only have Constantine to worry about now." Lord Craven shot back the tension between them evaporating as they shared a small laugh.

He couldn't take it anymore his curiosity was killing him. "Is she alright?" He finally blurted his anxiety spiking as Michael looked over at him and regarded him curiously. If I tell you she isn't you'll probably not let the door live, but if she is you may not break it down in a hurry." He teased straight faced.

"She's fine." Michael finally admitted realizing that his humor was not working on him. He felt himself let out a sigh of relief at his response.

"As for how weak she is I'm waiting on Declan to finish an assessment."

"Lord knows its safer for him then me right now." Michael explained.

"Yes seeing as she would probably kill you if you tried to leave." Lord Craven agreed with a slow nod.

"Which you better not do until after you see her." Declan's voice interrupted as he opened the door and stepped out closing it behind him.

"Come on Declan you know I can't not with them getting this desperate."

"It's too risky for me to stay." Michael explained bitterness lacing his tone.

"I call bullshit." A familiar voice interjected. He looked past them to see Constantine limping towards them supporting someone with his arm.

"Holy shit Leon." He breathed and rushed past them to take his other side and help him towards a spare room.

"What the hell happened?" Michael asked as they followed them into the room and helped settle him onto the bed.

"No clue, he's pretty banged up, but the worst parts gonna be telling him he was the only one that survived their attack from his team he was with." Constantine said sadly making his heart stop for a moment at the thought.

"This had to be the work of someone inside."

"I mean to catch one arch off guard is hard but two and a group of high level fighters."

"The odds are way too slim." Michael reasoned leaning against the wall and closing his eyes in thought.

"My thoughts exactly but who?" Constantine asked his tone not playful or joking but dead serious which made him regard him differently.

"I'm sorry but I'm confused, you said catch two archs off guard but, you weren't even here and I don't know of any others around." He explained making Declan smirk as he patted him on the shoulder.

"That my friend is because our identity is meant to be kept for safety." Michael however has no choice, trying to seal up who he is would be like trying to stop a raging river with a twig, considering he came to this world full of rage and flare." Declan explained.

"However there are those of them who come in like Declan here, and you have no idea who or what they are until they are tested by someone of equal or stronger power." Constantine explained.

"Bested is more like it." Michael chimed making Declan shoot him a dirty look.

"Wait a second you're an arch?" Murphy asked in disbelief.

"Yes," Declan sighed shaking his head, "my human name I was given was Declan but, my heavenly name is Gabriel." He explained making his heart stop in his chest.

"Ga, Gabriel as in the second strongest arch in heaven?" He asked making Declan flinch at his words.

"Minus the second strongest part yes, you are correct." Declan explained defeated. He shook his head and looked over at Constantine who smirked

"Oh no not me dude, I'm the normal one in this room."

"That however is the arch angel Rafael." He explained pointing over to where Leon lay out cold still.

He felt his heart stop for a second and shook his head.

"They did this to an arch." He fianlly managed to blurt out as he pointed over at Leon.

His mind was racing a few days ago angels and demons and things of that nature were stories in the bible. But in the bible arch's were the strongest of the angels they were supposed to be able to handle stuff like this without breaking a sweat yet, here lay Leon the arch angel Rafael battered and bruised.

"Calm down, arch's aren't invincible."

"However we are easier to heal for our own kind." Michael explained and elaborated seeing his look of confusion, "watch this." He ordered and nodded over at Declan who rolled his eyes before walking over to where Leon lay.

"I would have rather woken your sister first." He muttered as he stood over him for a minute and placed his hands on his chest.

"In the name of God, I order you to rise." He ordered loudly and a flash of light blinded him for a moment before he watched Leon gasp for air as he arched up on the bed and Declan let him go.

"Oh, Christ that hurt." Leon whined sitting up his bruises and cuts gone from his body.

"Holy shit." Murphy breathed watching the man get to his feet and stretch.

"See not so useless when we are together in numbers." Michael teased making him shake his head.

"I never imagined in my life that I would see all of this."

"I mean, shit you guys live your lives on a whole other level."

"Your laws, your religon, your reality." He explained.

Michael smirked and patted him on the back sympathetically.

"Being born into this life is a blessing to most but to those of us that chose to protect this world it isn't always the prettiest."

"I mean sometimes it's hard to differentiate who we should be fighting."

"Humans are just as bad as demons some times." Michael explained bitterness lacing his tone.

"However my sister has helped me to realize over the years that not all mortals are bad, that by fighting this never ending war the innocent may live on with hope that their future will be better."

"That's why I walked away from her, I want her to be happy to live as normally as possible and not have to be in danger all the time." He explained regret evident in his tone as they watched Leon and Declan joke as Constantine watched amused at their goofing off.

"Alright, So first order of business." Michael finally interrupted making the men in front of them end their foolishness and turn serious in a heart beat.

"We need to go check out the hideout they raided where they took Smecker and Eunice," Constantine chimed, "see if there are any clues as to where they may have taken them." He finished making Michael nod in approval.

"Alright take Declan and Lucien."

"See if they can find out why they got so desperate." Michael informed making them nod.

"Hey, take Conner with you, he'll want to do something to help and I think if he stays here any longer he'll go insane with worry."

"He wants to be in on this." Murphy informed nervously as he looked over at Michael who smirked and nodded in amusement.

"Well you heard the man." Michael ordered making Declan chuckle and shake his head before giving Michael a playful salute which he returned before he and Constantine left the room.

"Leon take Aramis and head back to where the village formerly was, see if you can find any clues." Michael informed seriously now.

"Alright, but I need to talk to you before we head out, so come find me." Leon informed and from the look on his face it was something important.

"Alright, deal." Michael agreed with a nod dismissively. Leon nodded slowly and left without another word.

"Guess it's time to wake my sister up now." Michael sighed.

Murphy smirked and nodded. "Yeah or she'll be pissed." He informed making Michael chuckled beside him as they headed towards the door.

"I should probably go check on my brother before he heads out." He informed pushing back his anxiousness to see the girl on the other side of the doors they were standing in front of.

He knew she was safe now but he just wanted to hold her and never let her go again. However he knew that the man next to him was probably having the same thoughts and given that he hadn't seen her in years he knew how badly it was probably tugging at him. He knew that if he ever had to be away from Conner that long without any contact it would drive him insane.

"Your gonna make me do this alone, she's gonna murder me." Michael teased but, he could see how he was looking at him now in anew light and it made it a little bit easier. He knew winning Michael over was going to be hard but, it was moments like this that he was glad he was starting to.

"Nah might give ya a black eye but you'll live." Murphy teased back making Michael laugh.

"Yeah or a bloody nose, guess it could be worse." He admitted with a sigh. Murphy nodded and smirked.

"Just give me a shout when it's safe again." He requested sincerely. Michael nodded. "You'll be the first." He agreed offering him his hand. Murphy nodded and shook it.

"Thanks." He replied in relief.

"Ya, know I can't pick who my sister chooses to love but, I'm glad it's a guy like you." Michael admitted making him freeze in shock as he watched him disappear into the room without another word.

~#~#~Marina~#~#~

She could feel the dull tugging sensation in the back of her mind as her consciousness shifted and then all at once was thrown into reality.

Her lungs burned and body ached for a moment and she gasped in disbelief as she opened her eyes and met the familiar blue eyes of a face she had not seen except for in her dreams and memories.

"Mi-Micheal." She gasped in disbelief making him smile down at her.

"Hey sis." He whispered making her reach up and touch his face with a shaking hand before shooting up and pulling him into a hug.

"Oh god." She cried feeling the tears burning in her eyes as she held him tightly to make sure he wouldn't disappear.

He chuckled and hugged her back burying his face in her shoulder. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take so long." He whispered in to her shirt.

"It's okay you're here now."

"The village is safe." She gushed happily as she pulled back from him and brushed away the stray tears that had fallen from his eyes.

"I almost didn't make it." He explained in defeat making her shake her head.

"But you did that's all that matters now." She explained sweetly. He shook his head again in defiance.

"If I hadn't, if I hadn't used the power of light I, you would have died." He explained making her roll her eyes and shake her head.

"But I'm alive now Michael you did make it, no matter how you did it, you made it to me when I needed you most." She explained touching his face.

He sighed and shook his head as a small smile graced his lips. "Is your glass always half full even in near death experiences?" He teased making her laugh and him to follow suit at how pointless the question was when they both knew the answer.

"I was scared, I will not deny that but, I had faith in you, I always do." She explained putting her hand over his and giving it a squeeze.

"So what do you think of him?" She asked making him groan in dread before rolling his eyes.

"He'll do I guess." He teased making her nod happily.

"I'm glad you approve." She replied dramatically making him laugh.

"However I will shoot you if you try and leave anytime soon." She explained more seriously now. He sighed and shook his head.

"You know if I stay it puts everyone at a much higher risk then before and with them being that brave to attack." He reasoned making her shake her head.

"Michael, I'm scared that the future you and I see will come to pass." She stated lowly meeting his gaze all playfulness gone and seriousness now replacing it.

"It changes though, you know that." He explained.

"It's all by choice."

She shook her head. "No, not this, this choice will not change."

"They will die trying to save me."

"I will need you if it happens." She explained making him sigh as she held his gaze.

"I pray what we see is wrong but, I will stay." He conceded making her nod then smile slightly.

"Alright well if I am to stay then we have to get something to eat."

"Traveling by light really takes a toll on the appetite." He explained as if it was a serious concern. She laughed and shook her head as she got to her feet and started towards the door arm and arm.
