25. Dark energy…their only guide

When the winx woke up, it was already early in the morning. They felt like a lot of energy has been drained out of them. Then their eyes snapped open as they realized what had happen.
They immediately got ready; each lost in their own thoughts and contacted the specialists to meet them as early as possible.

Specialists appeared with their faces etched with apprehension. "Are you girls alright? What was the emergency?" Timmy asked as soon as the girls approached them.

"We are fine. Let's sit and talk," Techna suggested and everyone nodded in agreement.

"So, is it still necessary to wait?" Riven asked clearly irritated by the girls silence. They were sitting on the bank of the lake near Alphea.

Must sighed and started explaining the whole orb thing... how they were taken into the other dimension and how the Trix helped them.

"I don't understand! Why will those stupid, idiotic sisters help us, the Winx?" Bloom snapped head ache threatening to make her mad.

"But also remember that the Trix escaped their captivated places. I'm sure they must have joined Jordon but he treated them with ill respect," Timmy said tapping his chin and Riven snorted at the way he used to describe the situation with super respect.

"There is no time to discuss this here. Mordon already attacked another magical land and gained victory. Others' fear for him is spreading fast among the dimensions," Helia added his concern.

"Helia is right guys. We will leave tomorrow! To the doomed island," Musa announced.

"Yes. If there is a Phoenix, we defeat it. Else, we attack Mordon directly." Techna confirmed the plan.

As the specialists began to leave, Stella winked at the other girls so that except Jane all the others started following them. Jane was fidgeting, too tensed to look up.

Bloom nudged Max; though confused at first, his face then marked with a huge grin of acknowledgement. Flora gave him thumbs up and off they went.

…

"Come on sweet heart, enough of this silence," Max moved close after a few minutes of nothing but fumbling from her side.

She felt her blood rush to her face but couldn't let any words out. You can do it Jane! Just tell that idiot that you love him! She thought.

An evil grin escaped Max as he started walking. "Looks like you have nothing to tell me. So, I'm leaving~" he sang.

"Wha- wait!" she got up and caught his wrist. He turned and smiled at her, which gave her enough confidence.

"I wanted to say that I.. I .." she stammered and then looked away and mumbled very softly "I love…you."

Max felt warmth all around him and he thought he would burst out with happiness. He closed the distance between them by giving her a hug.

His chin was on the top of her head as he asked her softy, "I couldn't hear you Jane. Please tell that a little louder dear."

"What! You heard it!"

"Nope, I didn't."

She felt his arms more tightly around her and she smiled. "I said…" she tilted her head to look at him and smirked, "I love chocolates."

Max chuckled and kissed her lightly on the lips. "I love them too."

…

Next Morning:

"Stella, we are NOT going to a party!" Musa shouted. They were all outside, Techna preparing plans and strategies with Timi and Helia. Bloom and Jane were examining the keys along with Faragonda.

Flora was getting some potions that may come handy. Brandon, Shy and Max were readying the weapons.

The only ones who weren't doing anything useful were Stella- with her makeup- and Riven- with his dozing off.

After what seemed like a decade to Musa – which was actually 30 minutes – Stella got out, with a big bag enough for a week outing.

"Are you ready Girls and Boys? Off we go to the doomed island!" she cheered and started towards the ship and others followed her shaking their heads and smiling.

With Faragonda's signal, they zoomed off leaving the school in a flurry of dust.

…

"Guys, whatever we are going to do, we can't plan anything… cause we don't know what lies ahead in that place," Timmy said showing them a layout of the island. It was a misshaped blob and no other details were printed.

Riven frowned and asked, "We don't even know what lies where in that map!"

"It was the only interpretation Ms. Faragonda could form with her magic," Flora said looking at it.

"But the color… it's weird. Red all around the island, some parts brown and maroon and the left corner is complete black…. Do you think they signify anything?" Bloom asked pointing at the black circle.

"It must be the range of energy flowing in that particular area!" Techna exclaimed.

"Tech and Bloom, you girls are geniuses!" Stella hugged them.

"So, the deep brown in the middle must be where Mordon resides and the black thing here…" Sky said and Brandon completed his sentence saying, "The phoenix!"

"So, to the north west is where we are heading," Helia confirmed loading the coordinated into the ship control and it sped straight like a lightning bolt.

…

They landed with a fury of sand dust around them and making some dark creatures back off from their nests into the nearby rocks. There weren't many plants around and the few which also seemed like they can't stand any longer.

As soon as the girls got down the ship, they were painfully aware of their energies being drained out because of all the dark energy that surrounded them… and they soon got to know, it was below them.

"It wasn't hard to detect anyway," Techna said as all the fairies could sense that energy.

"Well, I am excited to meet this phoenix. I hope it's a fire breathing," Bloom smiled as everyone gave her a warning look.

"We are not here to take that creature as a pet Bloom," Musa said folding her hands.

Bloom pouted but still smiling, searched the area to find a way they could go underground.

"We can teleport," Stella stated. "Why don't we do that often anyways? I mean we always ride on that ship and it takes time."

"Because," Flora started to explain, "It takes a lot of energy and we need to know the exact location of the place. The energy is powerful enough for us to reach directly to that place without any trouble."

"And because," Brandon added, "It's fun to ride." He winked. And then with their zoomix powers, they teleported and reached a place, black and….slimy.
