Chapter 25 - Why?

Sting and I wait outside Physics and heavy stares from Natsu and Lisanna fall upon us.

I pretend I don't notice but it's so uncomfortable.

"I told you he's jealous..." Sting hums.

"Shut it!" I give him the evils as we walk into class.

I go to my seat, beside Lisanna.

"Ah Lucy," Lisanna smiles brightly but slightly distant, "How are you and Sting?"

"Eh?!" I say taken back, as I sit slowly.

"You seem to be getting closer." She giggles.

"Well," I sigh, "He is annoying."

"Natsu's getting better at working." She mentions seemingly random.

"That's good, Thanks again," I smile briefly, "I've noticed you and Natsu are closer now."

"Yeah," She smiles meekly, "He said he's always cared for me and he says I can always depend on him."

"That's cute." I say with difficulty.

"But there's one thing..." She says with a saddened emotion, "He seems upset about you...Something happened, yes?"

"You saw him at Lunch, he got mad for no good reason." I state with annoyance.

"Maybe you should talk with him? Is there anything you would like me to say?" She asks innocently, almost too innocent...

"No no," I shake my head, "I'm sure he'll get over it..."

"Okay, I hope you both sort it out." She tells me.

Me too. I think but do not say but just nod.

When Physics end, I pack up and wait for Lisanna, "Are you hanging out with us?"

"Yes." I state obviously.

"Unless you're with just Natsu...of course." I quickly say and add a teasing win.

"No." She covers her face a little.

"Blondie!" Someone calls, I look to the door to see Sting and Natsu lingering with arms crossed and a tense face, "Hurry up!"

"Huh?!" I widen my eyes in alarm, then I remember he said we would hang out lunch, but I didnt agree to...

"Ah," I start, "I'm not-"

He walks over impatiently, "Sorry, I'm taking Blondie." He grabs my arm.

"Excuse me?" I murmur and shoot him and annoyed look.

"Lisanna," Natsu speaks up with a sudden irk as he walks closer.

"Are you ready?" He breathes as though he's restraining.

Sting smirks without even looking at Natsu who is now standing behind him.

"Oh yes..." She quickly places her books in her bag.

Sting turns to Natsu whilst still grappling my arm.

"We're tryna get through." Sting tells him, I look past Sting to Natsu's annoyed face.

Natsu doesnt budge.

Suddenly Sting uses his arm to forecfully shove Natsu aside; causing him to almost stumble.

Sting drags me past and as I'm pulled past Natsu's eyes meet mine and in an instant he grabs the arm Sting is holding whilst fixed on me.

When I realize, I look to Natsu and his hand.

"Can we help you?" Sting cuts in. We look to him and as usual a slight smirk hinges at his lips.

"Just don't drag her so much..." He mutters unexpectedly.

"Look whose talking..." Sting tuts and slides his index finger down my arm and carefully slips my hand into his. I feel myself burning at his intimate actions.

"I'm ready!" Lisanna stands up abruptly and Natsu quickly releases me so Sting takes the opportunity to slip out of the classroom...Still holding my hand.

"Why are you..." I manage to force out whilst staring at his suprisingly warm hands.

"Why am I what?" He asks as he smoothes his thumb round my hand slowly causing a jolt to momentarily stun me.

"That!" I quickly snap my hand out in alarm.

I rub my hand as though he had hurt me or something, but his lingering warmth remained.

"Your reactions..." He hides his face to hide his sneaky smile.

Why does he always have to do things like that?

"Anyway, let's sit outside." He dismisses.

I roll my eyes,

"Who said I'm having lunch with you?!" I stress but follow him anyway.

"I'm listening," He sits and stares at me expectantly whilst sipping his drink.

"Why should I tell you?" I roll my eyes.

"Why not?"

"Why should I?"

"Why not?"

"Okay, I will!" I say in frustration.

"We just argued, about how he doesn't trust you around me and doesn't want you around me." I summarise.

"But, it just annoyed me because he can't control me. It's my choice. Besides he doesn't even know you? And that time, it wasn't even what it looked like. Fair enough if it was, but it wasn't!" I find myself ranting.

"Mhm." Sting nods.

"I know he means well but it doesn't mean he does well." I huff.

"He's used to having you always with him. When I'm around you, he gets jealous I might take you away or something." Sting states.

"But Natsu has never been like...this?" I try to explain as I scrunch my face.

"Because, there wasn't a situation like this." Sting explains, "Truth is Blondie, we've been talking more recently than we used to. Not to mention, that he already didn't like me since I first moved."

"Hmm..." I ponder in thought. Does Natsu really...like me?

"Anyway," I clap my hands together, "Can we stop talking about this?" I beg slightly.

He shrugs, "Fine."

"Why are you taking concern in me anyway?" I question defensively.

"Why not?" He asks again.

"Because, I know you don't care really..." I murmur; sounding somewhat disappointed.

"Never said I didn't. Never said I did." He says unclearly with the slighest smirk.

I roll my eyes and dismiss my thoughts.

"You know what day it is tomorrow?" He asks with that smirk getting wider, "Friday."

"Ugh!" I rub my face in dread, "Stop reminding me!"

"Heh, it won't be so bad. Shame, you were last on my list. But you'll do." He smirks.

"What's that supposed to mean? Last time, I checked you 'blackmailed' me into going with you." I gape.

"Yeah, but you were my last resort." He shrugs.

"Right, whatever." I fold my arms and look away.

I can never tell with him.
