Chapter XXIV
"There you are", I heard and looked up from my magazine. I smiled at the man I loved.
"Last night was eventful", he kissed me and sat down across from me. I was in the gardens out back enjoying the heat charm as I watched the snow melt above us.
"I have no idea what you are talking about", I smiled coyly and went back to my magazine.
"So when are you going to tell your parents?" he asked," I mean, we've never talked about it, but I assume you have adoptive parents."
"Uh- I do", I nodded and tried to keep reading my magazine.
"Well, when do I meet them?" Draco laughed.
"About that..." I mumbled.
"There you two are!" they heard Narcissa yell at them," Celestra! We have so much to discuss!"
"Mother", Draco rolled his eyes," We just got engaged yesterday! Don't you think could let Celestra relax for right now... We are on vacation!"
"Draco, you can not, absolutely can not, expect me to just sit here and not do anything! You know me better than that", she smirked and I laughed.
"It's okay Draco", I smiled," Narcissa, I'm all yours today."
"Oh, fine! Here I thought I'd think my fiancee could be with me today, but nope! I didn't realize that when I proposed to her, she would marry you", Draco stood up and ranted and raved. I couldn't help but laugh at how dramatic he was being.
"I suppose you could sit with us and discuss wedding details", Narcissa rolled her eyes.
"Thank you", he smiled like a little boy who had just been given a cookie.
"Don't you think that was a bit dramatic?" I asked knitting my eyebrows together. He stuck out his tongue and sat next to me, holding my hand.
"My wedding", Draco smiled at me.
"Hah!" I laughed," You're funny. They don't say it's the brides day for no reason."
"She's right honey", Narcissa gave him a sympathetic look," Your job is to just agree and give opinions every now and then as long as they are what the bride agrees with."
"Marriage sounds already like so much fun", Draco moaned and I elbowed him earning a smile.
"I think Draco wanted some alone time together Narcissa", I smiled at her sympathetically.
"Yes, but we need to start planning this", she frowned.
"What's the big deal?" I laughed at them," We are just getting married."
Draco roared with laughter and Narcissa smiled at me," Honey, Pureblood marriages at the most rich and extravagent weddings there are and not only that, you are marrying one of the wizarding worlds most powerful and richest men. This is going to be the party of the century."
I sighed and smiled. I had no choice, but to go along with them," Okay."
"So here was what I was thinking", Narcissa opened her planner and she displayed pamphlets and pictures of various places.
"Jeese, Ma", Draco rolled his and sighed," How late did you stay up to put all this together?"
"Draco, don't give me sass", Narcissa pointed her finger at him," Now, how do you feel about Salzburg? They have beautiful gardens."
"Nah, my allergies will act up", Draco frowned.
"How about the French Riviera?" Narcissa smiled at us.
"To boring", Draco stuck out his tongue. I smiled sympathetically at him, but deep down, I had no idea what they were talking about. Yeah, I have heard of these places, but I've never been to these places. Just reminded me how I probably seem uncultured to Draco and his family.
"Draco, you are so picky", Narcissa frowned," Celestra, what do you think?"
"Ummmm", I knit my eyebrows together and set my mouth in a line. What do I say? I don't know where anything is...," How about this one?"
I pointed to a picture in Narcissa's binder. It was a gorgeous, regal looking castle with a pond in front of it.
"Oh! That's the Le Château d'Esclimont in France. I can't believe I haven't listed that yet. It's gorgeous! Remember when we went there Draco? We visted that one summer? Oh gosh. How long ago was that? Must have been years", Narcissa smiled at the memory. Apparently I picked good.
"Yeah, great choice babe", Draco smiled at me," I really enjoyed that place."
"So we all agree on this?" Narcissa asked.
"Well before I say yes, can we check it out?" I spoke up," I've never been and I'd like to see it before I commit."
"Oh of course!" Narcissa told me," Would you like to go today?"
"Uh, yeah sure", I smiled.
"Great! We will leave in 30 minutes!"
"It's beautiful!" I smiled at Draco and it really was. I saw families that were staying there on vacations and how happy they all were. It was surrounded by water and had a beautiful courtyard.
I adjusted my winter coat and cuddled next to Draco. Even in France they were experiencing the cold of winter.
"So have we decided that this would be the place?" Narcissa smiled. Draco looked at me and we smiled at each other.
"What do you say love?" Draco smiled at me," Do you wanna start our lives here?"
"It's perfect", I smiled. Narcissa beamed and went to talk to the concierge.
"I can't believe we are getting married here", I smiled and looked around," I can't believe any of this happening Draco. It's like a fairy tale."
"Anything for you", he smiled at me, but then his eyes darkened over," There was actually something I've been meaning to talk to you about..."
"Oh?" I smiled at him. We were holding hands and walking through the courtyard," What about?"
"So you know my past isn't the greatest right?" Draco looked at me.
"Well ya", I laughed," Everyone does."
"Well I was wondering, and this is just hypothetically and I can't stress that enough", Draco was mumbling.
"Draco, just tell me", I laughed," Why are you so nervous?"
He rolled his eyes," Okay, I am just going to set the scene okay? So let's say someone, like Voldemort but not as cruel, was to want to take over the wizarding world but leave muggles, half bloods, mudbloods, or even squibs alone, just purely wanted to rule the wizarding world because he or she knew they could improve it, would you join their cause?"
I laughed awkwardly," That was a little specific. What's going on?"
"Nothing!" Draco defended himself," I was just wondering... Would you join their cause if I did?"
"I don't know Draco", I rolled my eyes," I guess... Maybe? Why are we even talking about this? We are planning our wedding."
"You're right", Draco smiled," Let's go see what suite we would have. I wanna break in the bed early."
* Draco's POV *
"Father, must we have a meeting now?" I frowned and tightened my robe," My fiancee is waiting for me."
I had left Celestra in bed wanting more since father had summoned me to his office at this late hour.
"I just wanted to know how you two are doing? Hows our plan?" Lucius smiled.
"You don't need to refer to it as the 'plan' anymore!" I yelled at him," She isn't a 'plan'. She is going to be my wife and your future daughter-in-law. She isn't a plan. She is a person. She is the love of my life. You can ask me as a person about her and my future together. Okay?"
Lucius was taken aback by my outburst, but quickly regained his composture,"Okay. Fair enough. Well... How is your future with her going, I guess?"
"Fine. I asked her today if she was to hypothetically join us, would she", I told him. I didn't want to tell him about her hesitation however.
"And...?" Lucius asked.
"She was for it, I guess", I shrugged," She didn't so no, but she didn't really say yes either."
"I guess that will have to do for now", Lucius sighed," This isn't going as fast as I wanted."
"I'm sorry our lives aren't to your satisfaction", I spat out. Sometimes I wish I could just smack my father.
"I didn't mean it like that", Lucius' eyes narrowed," That's all. You are dismissed."
I walked out of his office and slammed the door shut behind me.
* Narrator's POV *
Minerva scowled and through down The Daily Prophet on the table. The front page was a bunch of pictures taken of the Malfoy Annual Christmas Ball and smacked right in dead center was her daughter in the arms of Draco Malfoy showing of her engagement ring. The wizarding world was going balistic over the engagement of the young couple and how Draco was finally going to be married to someone and leave his Death Eater past behind him.
But Minerva knew better. She was to quick to judge that the boy had changed. She wasn't going to be fooled again by him. She trusted him once and look what had happened... He let Death Eaters into the school. She wasn't going to allow him her daughter. She knew he was behind something. Every word out of his mouth was a lie.
"Incendio!" she yelled and lit the paper on fire. She was going to be damned if she was just going to sit there and let this happen...
Meanwhile, Astoria was feeling the same things her transfiguration teacher was going through. After the whole pregnancy rumor about Celestra went around, she put hating her and getting back at her on the back burner. And now the man she was supposed to marry is engaged to that bitch! She wiped away a tear and through the paper into the fire of her bedroom. She wasn't even invited to the ball. Good thing to, because if she was, she would have Avada'd little Celestra quicker than Draco could blink. Draco was only blinded by how unique Celestra was. He told her that he loved her in their midnight rendezvous. Pansy told her he was lying to her just to get in her pants, but she knew better. He just didn't want a serious relationship at the time. If he slept with her now, he would realize just how much he was missing!
She stomped over to her desk and pulled out her stationary. She needed to get that little bitch out of the picture once and for all.
So there it is! This was really just a progress chapter for the major things coming up. The next ones will be longer. Promise! No one review my last chapter :(
