Chapter 25- Fresh Start

Previously On Catching Feelings...

The police officer led then down a long white corridor till they reached the room at the end of the hall, "Go ahead and have a seat, your husband will just be a second," the officer told them and left alone.

As they waited, Erica noticed that AJ started to play with her hair, "Are you okay AJ?"

"Ya mom I'm fine, I'm just nervous about seeing dad," AJ sighed.

"Everything will be fine," Erica reassured her daughter.

AJ was about to respond when they heard a door open and the sound of chains rattling as they entered the room.

Now the conclusion...

When AJ and Erica looked up towards the door, they couldn't believe what they were seeing. Carlos had walked in wearing an orange jumpsuit with chains on his wrists and ankles. However, that wasn't what was shocking them. What shocked them was the way that he had looked. Carlos had walked in with a black eye, a bruise on his cheek, and some stitches above his right eyebrow. He was also walking with a slight limp.

"Carlos oh my god, what happened?" Erica exclaimed as he sat down in the chair across from them.

"Hey it's okay, no need to panic. I'm fine now," he told her trying ti calm her down. "I had some trouble with some guys her, but it's all over. The guards here have had me in protective custody. Nobody can touch me," he explained.

AJ slowly reached across the table and touched her father's hand, "Is that what you were talking about yesterday da

Carlos smiled at his daughter's touch, "Yes baby girl it is. The first week that I was here, I sort of got into a fight with a very bad guy here. That immediately put me on his blacklist and it seemed that every chance him and his friends got, they would jump me. The guards got tired of picking me off the floor, because they put me in protective custody. Basically I'm in solitary confinement."

"Carlos that's horrible, I don't like what is happening to you here," Erica said sadly.

"But it's what I deserve," he told her. "After what I put you guys through for years, this is what I deserve. I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry," he cried. "I never meant to hurt you two. My mind was always clouded by the alcohol. It made me do things that I am not proud of. I love you two so much despite everything that I have said and done."

AJ looked at the guard by the door, "Can I hug him?" The guard nodded and AJ rushed over to her dad, "It's okay dad don't cry. We all do things that we are not proud of and that's okay. The things that have happened only make us strong in the end. Nothing can bring us down now."

Erica with tears in her eyes went over to her daughter and husband and hugged them tight, "AJ is right Carlos, nothing can hurt us now. We are stronger together now. Either way we look at things, everything happens for a reason. We love you Carlos."

"And I love you guys two. I just want to put the past behind us and move on. I want a fresh start," he told them.

"Then let's do it dad, let's move on. Let's forget everything that has happened and somehow get you out here. Let's be a family again," AJ smiled.

Carlos smiled back, "I would like that very much."

Across town with Punk and John...

After AJ and Erica had left, Punk lounged around for a bit before he got bored and went to John's for a while. Currently they were up in John's room playing some video games. "So John, how's the baby doing? Did you find out what you're having yet?" Punk asked as he beat John for the 100th time at football.

"It's doing great bro, we went to the doctor's yesterday and we found out that we are having a girl," John smiled widely. He couldn't wait to be a father.

Punk was very happy for his friend, "Wow a little girl bro, that's incredible. I bet you're real excited huh?"

John let out a happy sigh, "Oh ya totally, she isn't allowed to date at all until she is at least 30. Other than that, she is going to be a daddy's girl and she is going to get everything that she wants."

"I bet she will be bro, I can just see it now. Anyways, have you thought about what I said about the whole lawyer thing? I mean Maria is still being a bitch right?"

"Ya man she is still acting like that, so that's why I decided to go see a lawyer. I want this baby and I bet that I can give this baby a better life than Maria can," John said seriously. "Anyways, enough about my drama, how are you and AJ doing?"

Punk put his controller down and sighed, "We're doing okay I guess. We had a little fight earlier though. Nothing too bad." Ya right, the neighbors probably heard their shouting.

John was taken back by what he heard, because Punk and AJ never fought. They were the perfect couple. "Why were you guys fighting? You two never fight," he asked him.

"Well April got a surprise phone call from her dad yesterday and she was a little too quick to accept everything that he had to say. I mean he beat her and Erica badly, but yet April is running back to him with opened arms like nothing happened," Punk said still upset with the situation.

"Man that sucks, but at the same time, maybe AJ has a reason to run to him. He is her father after all and maybe he has changed for the better," John said voicing his opinion.

Punk was shocked by what his friend had said, "What, how can you say that?" Carlos is a sick son of a bitch and he is never going to change."

John sighed, "I know that man, but maybe something happened in jail that changed Carlos. We see it all the time when people come out of there."

"Still, I don't want April anywhere near Carlos. I don't want to see her hurt anymore," Punk said with a little bit of emotion in his voice.

"I don't like seeing AJ hurt either, but you have to let her travel down this road with her dad. If things go good with her dad, then that's great, but if they don't, then it is your job to comfort her and let her know that she will always have you to fall back," John tried to reason with his stubborn friend.

Punk thought about what John had said and knew that he had a point. Either way despite what has happened in the past, AJ and him have to move on and great a fresh start on things.

Back At The Jail...

"So how are things between you and that boyfriend of yours? I hope I didn't cause too much trouble between you two yesterday," Carlos said to AJ when they were alone. Erica left them alone momentarily to get them all dome water.

"Things are going okay dad. I have never been happier then when I am with Phil. I love Phil and he treats me right. However we did have a little fight about me coming to see you," AJ sighed. "He feels like you're only going to play me and hurt me in the end."

Carlos gave his daughter a sympathetic smile, "It's okay baby girl, Punk has a right to make accusations against me. I mean I don't have the cleanest record and I need to gain some trust back. Punk is just worried about you, that's all. I know how much he loves you and he doesn't want you to get hurt anymore."

AJ nodded in agreement, "I know he loves me dad, but he needs to trust the decisions that I make just like I trusted his decision." Carlos looked at his daughter in confusion and AJ elaborated, "You see, after Phil and I got together, his dad hated it and after a big blow up, Phil left home and moved in with me and mom. I supported in decision then and he needs to support me now."

"Don't worry baby girl, things will work out in the end. Just try to not stay mad at each other for too long. It is much better to make up and move on. You two need to forget about everything and have a fresh start."

Wow, I guess things between AJ and Carlos worked out after all. Hopefully things will only continue to get better. Also, I hope that AJ and Punk can kiss and make up. Carlos was right and they shouldn't stay mad at each other. Anyways, please let me know what you guys thought about this chapter.
