Ok, so i'm going to start out by saying something, and I am terribly sorry if I offend anyone; that's not my intention. But please, if you are going to criticize my spelling and grammar, please do not be mean about it. I understand misspelled words are annoying to read. I try to go through a proof read, because misspelled words really bother me, but I am working off wordpad, and it does not have spell check, so I have to catch it all by eye.
As for my grammar, I can honestly say I dont see where my grammar is wrong. I've been writing the same way for the past four years in highschool, and not a single teacher has told me my grammar is off. If you do spot a sentence where grammar is off, please copy it and paste it along with your comment so I can fix that.
And one more thing; if you are going to criticise my grammer and spelling in a rather rude comment, make sure YOU have spelled every word correctly and have proper grammar. It was very difficult to understand the first time through what you were even talking about. (Not trying to be mean, but I do not appreciate hypocrites.)
Thank you, and have a pleasant day.
"Owww! Damnit, you great oaf, go easy!" Sephira's voice could be heard all through Beorn's house. Gandalf was in a back room, stitching up Sephira's side and trying his best to take away some of the pain.
"Your flesh was torn all the way through, what on earth would you expect this to feel like?" Gandalf shouted back, his voice incredulous instead of angry. There was no response that any of them could hear.
Fili sighed, glancing around at the others. Dwalin was standing by the chair Thorin was occupying, his arms crossed, while his uncle was staring off at something only he could see. Fili had seen the way Sephira's words had affected him, but he felt like Thorin deserved it. He had told Sephira she was of no importance, when all she was trying to do was protect one of the group members from getting hit by an arrow. Like she was. Dori and Nori were sitting near Ori, who was scribbling furiously in his little journal that he brought along. Bilbo was sitting closest to the doorway, looking nervous and distraught. It was always startling, Fili thought, when he saw how affected Bilbo was by something that happened to Sephira. He never would have figured the two of them would be that close. But then again, Sephira was the nicest out of the group to him besides Gandalf, and that was saying something.
Oin and Gloin were sitting on a bench, silent and brooding. Fili glanced down at his little brother, who sat curled up in the large chair, while Fili was perched on the arm of it. Kili's head was hung low, resting on his knees while his arms wrapped around his legs. His knuckles were white from how tightly he was clenching his hands, and Fili had no doubt that Kili was being eaten alive by his guilt. He couldnt imagine what it would feel like, to be the reason Sephira was hurt.
Well, actually, he could. That time when they were climbing a tree, and Fili was responsible for pulling the small fae onto the branch he and his brother were on. His grip slipped, and down Sephira fell. Seeming to hit every branch on the way. He had felt terrible for weeks, always cringing when he saw that large bruise on the side of her pale face. And no matter what Sephira said, Fili did not feel any better. He still felt guilty just thinking about it.
Fili leaned over, wrapping an arm around Kili's shoulders and leaning down to his ear. "She knows you didnt mean anything by it, brother. It was nothing more than an accident."
Kili made a small noise in the back of his throat, shaking his head slightly before he turned it just enough to look at Fili through his tangled dark locks. His obsidian eyes were gleaming with tears, his cheeks wet and the tip of his nose a light pink from crying, and Fili groaned, clutching his shoulder and shaking him.
"You cannot let your guilt consume you Kili, or you will never be able to look at her again. Accidents happen."
"I could have killed her." Kili whispered brokenly, more tears springing to his eyes.
"But you didnt. Which is what you need to focus on. She was not killed, nor seriously injured. Be happy with that." Fili said in a gentle tone, giving Kili's shoulder a little shake. "Besides, if anyone should feel guilty, it is our little hobbit. He was the one that made Sephira turn around to see if uncle was alright." Fili added.
"He would not have shouted if my arrow had not pierced uncle's tunic." Kili mumbled. Okay...bad choice of words. Fili thought to himself, frowning and furrowing his brows. Kili had a point, it was his arrow that pierced Thorin's tunic, which caused Bilbo to shout, which in turn caused Sephira to turn, allowing his arrow to pierce Sephira's side. He had no idea what to say to make Kili feel any better.
He'd leave that to Sephira. She was rather good at making people's guilt go away. At least for a little while.
Thorin had his eyes on his nephews the moment Fili moved from his previous stiff position, and he watched them now, as they whispered to eachother and guilt ate at his stomach. Not because Sephira was hurt- though he knew that if Bilbo had not shouted his name, Sephira never would have turned, and therefore she would have seen the arrow coming- but at the words he had spat at her when she was trying to change his mind about practice. What she said to him after he asked Gandalf if she would be alright, he was hurt. Of course Thorin cared about her. Of course she was of importance to him. But why should she believe that, when Thorin had said otherwise?
"Are you quite finished yet?" Sephira's high pitched voice demanded, sounding pained and annoyed. They heard a frustrated sigh that could only have come from Gandalf, but it was almost drowned out by the miserable, low pitched moan that came from Kili.
Thorin's eyes flashed with pity before he looked away, unable to watch the two any longer. He was jealous, if he was to admit it, of Kili. Sure, he had shot the woman he was courting with an arrow, but that was physical pain. Sephira would heal from that. Rather quickly actually, as fae heal faster than any other race. But Thorin had hurt her emotionally, and that was not something a wizards magic and stitching could fix. It would take time, it would take patience. And Thorin was going to have to swallow his pride and apologize to her.
"It would go faster, if you would sit still!" Gandalf shouted, rather loudly. Fili cracked a smile, just imagining the look that would be on her face. It was wipped away quickly though, by the shaking in his baby brother's shoulders. Kili really was eaten up about this. It was the shock factor. The fact that he could have killed her. Seriously injured her. Had injured her. Kili was going to be stuck on this for a while, and Fili did not blame him at all.
A door was flown open, and all heads shot up. Sephira, her face unusually pale, walked out of the room at a brisk pace, in the process of tugging a gray tunic down around her waist. Kili caught her eye, and he immidiately rested his forehead back on his knees, muttering something about how stupid he was so low that only Fili could hear. Sephira paused in the doorway of the room, her head tilted and a puzzled look on her face at Kili's actions. She almost questioned what she had done to make him not want to look at her, before she breathed in and pain seared through her stitched side. Duh. Of course Kili would react like that. He'd shot her with an arrow.
"Are you alright?" Bilbo asked, scrambling up from the floor so he could turn and face her properly. Sephira looked a moment longer at Kili, caught Fili's eye, and then looked at Bilbo. She smiled. A light smile that was out of sorts with the series of events.
"Fit as a Fae." she remarked. Bilbo's brows furrowed, but he smiled all the same. Sephira turned her attention once again to the dark haired dwarf and his brother. She gave Fili a slight smile, one which he returned before glancing back down at his brother. Kili still hadnt looked up, and his shoulders still shook.
Everyone watched as Sephira padded across the floor, her gray eyes fixed firmly on Kili. Thorin wanted to look away as she stopped in front of Kili, but he couldnt make himself. He wanted her to turn around. Wanted to catch her eye when she did turn around. He wanted to stand up and apologize. He wanted to pull her into a hug. But he knew none of those things were going to happen. Sephira was not going to spare him a glance when she turned around, and she certainly wasnt going to allow him anywhere near her. So instead he sat and watched, wishing he could be satisfied with the fact that she was going to help Kili. Wishing that he could swallow his pride enough to apologize to her in front of all of them.
"Kili?" Sephira said softly, reaching out and tapping him lightly on the shoulder. He lifted his head slightly, just enough so that he could see her through his tangled hair. Guilt tore through him as their eyes locked, but he found that he couldnt look away. Especially when she gave him a soft smile, holding her hand out to him. Kili's brows furrowed, confusion and reluctance running through him.
He did not want to follow Sephira anywhere. Kili was afraid of what she would say. No, Kili did not think she was going to yell at him for it. Quite the opposite actually. Kili knew that she didnt blame him. She never did blame him or Fili when she got hurt because of something they did. Listening to her try and talk him out of his guilt was going to kill him. He really wished she would just yell at him. Slap him. Scream and rant and pace until she finally lost it and physically attacked him. Something to prove that she blamed Kili for what he had done like he did. It would be so much easier to deal with if Sephira was mad at him. He knew how to fix that. Kili did not, however, know how to fix something when Sephira insisted nothing was wrong. He didnt know how to deal with that.
But all the same, he reached out and took her hand with a sigh as he climbed to his feet. Sephira turned, not making eye contact with anyone in the room as she dragged Kili out of the room. He kept his head down, allowing his hair to shield his face as his cheeks burned with shame. And all eyes were on him. It is the walk of shame Kili. You were bound to do it at one point in your life...he thought bitterly.
