"Jeremy stop!" Dia screamed.

Jeremy caught the stake that Elena threw to him and impaled Kol in the heart. Kol screamed and burst into flames. Kol tried to run but toppled to the ground dead.

"No!" Dia screamed in tears. She backed up against the corner of the wall and slowly fell to the floor in front of Kol's body.

Dia gasped and sat up in bed. Looking around she expected to see her room, all of her things. Instead she was in a simple guest room. It hit here where she was. She was in New York. She took Klaus's advice and fled Mystic Falls for her own protection and because deep down she knew that she couldn't be around the people who murdered someone she cared about. She hadn't told Luchi why she had shown up at her doorstep at the middle of the night. She wasn't ready to talk about it. She felt different, angrier; she couldn't explain what was happening. She ran her hands through her hair and looked at the clock. 12:00 it read. She'd slept hours and yet she felt exhausted. A small knock on the door was heard and Luchi slowly opened the door with a coffee mug in her hand.

"You're awake" she greeted.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to sleep so long" Dia replied looking at her friend.

"No don't worry about it" Luchi shook her head. "You got in late, you looked exhausted when you got here. Sleep was probably exactly what you needed."

"Yeah I guess" Dia said. Luchi looked at her friend and noticed she wasn't herself at all. There was a moment where she noticed Dia was staring off into space. She was here physically, but mentally she was not. "But I'm surprised you got any sleep. I could hear you screaming from my room." Dia looked up at Luchi with a blank look on her face.

"Want to talk about it?" Luchi asked.

"No" Dia said quickly, avoiding eye contact with Luchi.

"Are you sure? Talking about it might help you" Luchi replied.

"I said no!" Dia snapped.

Luchi sighed and shook her head, leaving the coffee mug on the nightstand. She walked back into the hallway and made her way to the kitchen. There at the bar sat Becker.

"How's she doing" Becker asked.

"Still won't say anything" Luchi sighed. "I don't know what happened, but whatever it is really has torn her up. I haven't seen her like this ever."

"Have you called Damon or Elijah?" he asked.

"I haven't called Damon. Elijah I tried, but it went straight to voicemail. I don't know how things are with her and Damon at the present moment, but I'm about three steps away from calling" she explained.

"What about Katherine? Would she know something and be able to help?" he suggested.

"I don't trust her" she replied. "I don't care if she saved Dia's life all those years ago. That doesn't make up for all the times she screwed up Dia."

"Then what do we do?" Becker asked. "She's our friend Luch. We have to do something!"

"I really don't know" Luchi sighed. "I really don't know." Just then Dia walked out in a coat appearing to go somewhere.

"Hey where you off to?" Becker asked.

"No where" Dia said simply.

"Dia c'mon" Becker huffed. "This isn't like you. You need to talk to us. It'll make you feel better."

"I don't need to do anything Becker" she snapped grabbing her purse. Suddenly the glass on the table shattered as well as the glass Becker was holding in his hand.

"What the hell?" he exclaimed. Dia quickly ran to the door with Luchi calling after her. She lost control again.

Dia sat on a bench in the middle of central park. It was the one place she'd always come to while living in New York when she ever needed time alone or just time to think. She didn't understand how she was losing control so much. Yes her emotions were all over the place, but it was the first time her powers were every out of control. She took a deep breath and looked around at the people in the park particularly at a young couple. The pair was laughing with one another before the man kissed the woman. Dia felt tears come to her eyes. She missed Elijah more than anything. She messed up and she was paying the consequences. She pulled out her phone and dialed his number once more. After a few rings it went once more to voicemail.

"Elijah it's me again. I guess either I keep missing you or you don't want to talk to me. I understand if you don't. I was wrong. I shouldn't have gotten angry at you. I understand where you were coming from now. Maybe I'm not ready to be turned. All I know is that I'm so sorry. I love you more than anything Elijah. I don't want to lose you. I'm in New York now. Please come and find me or just please call me to let me know you're all right. I love you" she then hung up the phone and wiped some of the stray tears running down her cheek.

"You always came here when you needed to get away" a voice said. Dia looked up and saw Luchi standing looking at her sympathetically. She sat down on the bench beside Dia.

"You're a creature of habit Lydia that's for sure" her friend smiled. "Are you okay?"

Dia shook her head. "No I'm not. Everything's gone to hell and I just don't know what to do."

"Well maybe if you tell someone what's going on she can try to help to" Luchi suggested.

"I don't even know where to start" Dia sighed.

"How about you start with the question of where's Elijah?" Luchi asked.

"I don't know" Dia replied simply.

"What do you mean I don't know?" Luchi frowned. "He's not daggered again is he?"

"As far as I know he's not" Dia began. "We got into a fight about Kol and turning me. I want to be turned, but he didn't want me to be turned right now. I told him to leave and that I needed time."

"So how does Kol play into all of this?" Luchi asked.

"I have another doppelganger" Dia told her.

"What?" Luchi exclaimed.

"There was one before Marina. Her name was Serafina and Kol was in love with her. Elijah learned of this while I was in a coma and didn't tell me. He was worried that due to my friendship with Kol that if I learned of this then I would end up leaving Elijah for Kol. He thought I had feelings for him" Dia explained.

"Did you?" Luchi asked.

"No I didn't. Kol was amazing and caring in his own strange way, but I never felt romantic feelings towards him. He was someone that I cared about, but more as family" Dia told her.

"So where is he?" Luchi asked.

"Kol's dead Luchi" Dia said tearing up. "There's a cure for vampirism and Jeremy was chosen as a hunter to protect the cure. He had to kill vampires to grow a tattoo that had a map leading to the cure. He and Elena decided to kill Kol because he compelled Damon."

"That selfish bitch as usual" Luchi snapped. She hugged her friend tightly. "You need to forget them. You have family here. You don't need them. "

"I know" Dia nodded. "I'm just ready to decide where I'm going to college and forget about Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers drama."

"Just a few months time" Luchi smiled. "Dia, I hate to ask but about earlier….what's going on with that?"

"There's something wrong with me Luch. I don't feel like myself. I'm doing things I can't explain" Dia looked at her. "Klaus told me to find a gypsy here, who could possibly help me."

"Then let's get you help" Luchi looked at her friend. "We'll get you the help you need and then we'll figure everything out. We always do in the end."

"I don't even know how to find this Dominique Cain, Klaus just told me about" Dia huffed getting off the bench and putting her hands behind her head. "She could be anywhere."

"We'll check records, go to the police station. Dia we'll find her. Leave that to Becker and I. What you need to do is to rest and relax. Until you know what's wrong with you, you need to stay in control" Luchi replied. Dia let out a deep breath and nodded. She looked down at her phone to see if she had any messages.

"Any word from Elijah?" her friend asked.

"No and right now I don't think I ever will" Dia shook her head. "I basically snapped his heart in two."

All of a sudden Dia felt a hard smack against her cheek. "Ow!" she screamed out rubbing her cheek. She glared over at Luchi. "What the hell was that for?"

"Lydia Walker you're an idiot" Luchi huffed. She grabbed her friend's left hand and held it up. "Do you see this ring?" she asked. "This is an engagement ring that Elijah gave to you representing his love for you. Do you think that he would have gone through all the trouble of going behind your back and asking those closest to you if he could pop the question? Hmm? That man is madly in love with you Dia and I don't think one stupid little fight is going to make him stop loving you! Stop moping around and feeling sorry for yourself and keep calling the thousand year old bastard till he picks up his phone. Do you understand me?"

Dia stared at her friend in shock. She had never seen this side of Luchi before.

"I asked do you understand me?" Luchi exclaimed once more.

"Yes, yes I do!" Dia answered quickly.

"Good now let's get you the help you need" Luchi said.

Elijah's phone buzzed signaling a voicemail. A hand grabbed the phone and saw it was from Lydia Walker. Quickly the fingers unlocked the phone and went to the voicemail section. The delete button was hit, ensuring that the voicemail was deleted and would never be heard.

So so so so sorry! I've been abroad for the past two months and between classes and touristy stuff I haven't had much down time. This chapter is on the short side and a bit of filler, but I promise things will speed up soon. This chapter is setting up for the next few chapters. It's really going to be Dia focused.
