2 Months Later
Tara sat in Donna's kitchen listening to the two women plan her baby shower. It wasn't really something Tara was in to. She didn't really feel the need to have a big party and even thought Gemma assured her that wasn't gonna happen, Tara knew Gemma and that woman went big with parties. She closed her eyes and placed her hand on her now very noticeable baby bump. Feeling there son move slightly she couldn't hold back the smile that formed. She and Jax both knew that it was going to be a boy and when the doctor confirmed for them they both shed a tear.
"You alright sweetheart?" Gemma asked concern in her voice.
Tara nodded her head as she opened her eyes. Gemma's attitude towards her had change drastically since she found out she was pregnant with her first grandchild and honestly she was thankful for that. The fights between the two women were getting worse. Tara felt she actually had a mother and that was something she hadn't felt in a really long time.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired."
"Well why don't you go lay down and relax. We got this." Gemma said as she looked towards Donna then back at her.
"Actually if you guys don't mind I think I'm going to go home." Tara placed her hand on the table as she stood up, she walked over to Gemma and leaned over giving her a hug then doing the same with Donna.
"I'll come by later." Donna said with a smile as she placed her hand on her still growing belly.
Tara smiled. "Okay." She turned and grabbed her bag off the counter and slung it over her shoulder grabbing the keys from the pocket. She waved at the women one last time before heading out the door. She sighed silently relieved that she was able to get out of there, she could only take picking what games should be played and what decorations to get for so long.
She heard the rumble of the motorcycles before she saw them, she opened the door to the cutlass and tossed her bag inside as Opie and Jax pulled in to the driveway. Jax turned off his bike, kicked up the stand then got off and made his way towards her a smile on his face. "Hey babe." He kissed her lips gently. "Where you going? Everything okay?" He said as a worried look briefly crossed his face as he glanced down at her belly.
Jax had become a different person since finding out about her being pregnant. He was more attentive than usual and called more often to check on her. Things with the club were pretty quiet but Tara knew that would only last so long and she tried not to think about it much. She told Jax she needed total disclosure if their relationship had any chance of working and he agreed. He told her about the new gun deal they made with the Irish and so far everything was going as planned. For now.
Knowing she had taken long than expected to answer him she smiled brightly and grabbed both his hands interlacing their fingers. "I'm fine, we are fine." She leaned forward and kissed him again with a little more force.
He felt his dick perk up with her kiss, he parted his lips as she deepened the kiss sliding her in to tangle with his. He brought his hands and placed them on the sides of her face pulling her hair gently.
A cough from the other side of her car had them both pulling back, her cheeks reddened slightly as her eyes met with Opies. "You wanna come back to the house with me?" She said looking back at Jax, playing with the button of his plaid shirt.
He knew exactly what that meant and by the way she had just kissed him he hated the answer he had to give her. "I would, believe me but we just came by to get a few things. Got some business to take care of."
Tara nodded knowing a few possibilities of what that meant. "Tell me about it later?"
He smiled. "Yeah." He kissed her lips one more time. "I love you." He leaned down and kissed her belly. "I love you to son."
"I love you to. I'll see you at home." She smiled as she got in to her car, she watched Jax and Opie head inside and then started the car and pulled out of the driveway.
She was a few blocks from the house, she was driving by the house that David was staying in and saw a moving van out front and a few people loading boxes in to the back. She pulled off to the side and put the car in park. Tara hadn't really seen or talked to David much since the incident in front of her house, there was a distance that he was trying to put between them and Tara understood why. It's not easy seeing your ex fiancé especially when shes pregnant by another man. Tara truly hated how things turned out with them, sometimes she thinks what would have happened if they had stayed in Chicago. Would they be married? Would she be having his kid? The thoughts run through her mind but one look at Jax and feeling the movement of their child and she knows that this was how things were supposed to end up. Jax is her everything and always will be. They belong together.
She sees David walk outside carrying some more boxes, she hadn't heard that he was moving but then again she hadn't heard much. Turning off the car she gets out and walks towards him. As he turned to go back in to the house he catches sight of her and instantly smiles. She looked so beautiful and had a somewhat glow to her, he knew that was what most people said about women who were pregnant but she really was radiant.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" He said as she approached him.
"I saw the truck and all the boxes. You're moving?"
"Yeah, got offered another job up in Stockton."
Tara smiled but it didn't reach her eyes, she was happy he was moving on but her heart felt like it was breaking a little. "Oh, well that really good. I'm happy for you."
He nodded. "Yeah, how are you doing?" He said as he looked at her enlarged belly.
"We are good." She said placing a hand on her stomach. They were quiet for a few moments, the tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. "Look, David I'm sorry about everything I never thought things would play out like this. I never wanted to hurt you."
David smiled and grabbed her hand. "Tara, it's okay. I'm happy for you and I meant what I said the last time I saw you. If you need anything just give me a call."
Tara pulled him in to a hug wrapping her arms around his neck. The feel of her body so close to his, the warmth of her skin, the smell if her hair all engulfed him at once and it took every fiber of his being not to pull her mouth to his. He slowly brought his arms up around her, pulling her as close as her belly would let him and they stayed that way for a few minutes. A single tear fell down her cheek and as she pulled away and he looked in to her eyes he wiped it away. "I should probably finish."
She shook her head and looked in to the eyes of the man she used to love one last time. "Okay. I hope everything works out for you." She smiled slightly before turning and heading back towards her car. David watched as the love of his life drove off, he closed his eyes as he took a deep breath before turning and heading back in to his house to finish packing.
3 Months later
Tossing and turning was all she did now, she was three weeks from her due date and she could not wait for that day to come. She could never get comfortable no matter how hard she tried, Jax even bought her a body pillow cause he had heard it helped but that did absolutely nothing, she rolled on to her back letting out a frustrated sigh as she opened her eyes to the dark filled room. Jax snored softly next to her and a part of her wanted to hit him for looking so comfortable when she was not.
Their son was unbelievably active and she could feel his every movement especially when he would push on her bladder, like he was doing now. She sat up placing a hand on her belly as she got off the bed and went in to the bathroom. A few minutes later she came back out and notice Jax roll over moving his hand to her side searching for her, when he noticed she wasn't there his head shot up. "Babe?"
"Right here." She said as she walked back over to the bed and crawling back in.
"You okay?" He asked his voice still filled with sleep.
"Yeah baby just can't get comfortable."
He smiled as his hand found her belly. "That's my boy." He laughed as she smacked his arm.
"Come here." He said pulling her towards him, she laid her head on his chest. "Soon we will be holding him babe." Tara smiled and kissed his chest gently. "I know."
A few moments passed and his breathing evened out and she knew he was asleep, she closed her eyes and let the sound of his heartbeat put her to sleep.
Tara woke up the next morning to an empty bed she looked around letting her eyes adjust to the brightness of the morning sun. She laid there for a few minutes before she sat up. "Mornin." He said from the doorway, he walked over to her holding a small box.
"What's that?" She asked looking at him. Jax just smiled and handed it to her without saying anything. Holding it in her hand she realized what kind of box it was, she looked back at him before opening it and seeing a diamond ring. A huge smile spread across her face as she took the ring out and looked at it. "Really?" She asked, knowing what he was asking.
"We should get married babe." He sat on the bed next to her. "I use to think about this when we were younger, I knew then that I was going to make you my wife and now you're going to be giving me a beautiful son. I love you Tara. You're it for me babe."
Tears filled her eyes as she nodded. "Yes, of course, yes." She leaned closer to him and kissed him. He went to deepen the kiss when she suddenly pulled back. He looked at her a saw a look on her face he couldn't really describe. "Babe, you okay."
Tara nodded excitedly as she looked him in the eyes. "My water just broke."
THE END.
AN: That was the conclusion of I just can't love you back. I know I said there were two chapters left but this was how I wanted to end it. I felt like I was starting to drag the story out and I didn't want to do that and it get boring. I had so much fun writing this and reading what you guys thought and let me tell you I never thought so many of you were going to like it. So THANK YOU!
I am going to be doing another Jax/Tara story so this is not the last you have heard from me.
