A/N: *Drum roll in the background* Here it is everybody. The very much asked for part two of the drabble "Please".
He had played her husband before, but this wasn't for some undercover operation. These were people he actually knew, and also lying to. Lying. He actually didn't have to lie for this. He could have gone to this reunion alone, but he chose not to.
He still would have had to lie if he came alone. He still would have had to make up somewhat of a cover story, so he thought what could it hurt if I just made it more?
"If people ask, is the baby a boy or girl?"
They were walking arm in arm into the venue that was set on the beach.
"What?"
He nudged her playfully in the stomach. "The mutant ninja assassin, boy or girl?"
She wasn't even going to bother telling him not to use the term mutant ninja assassin. Deep, deep down she didn't mind it.
"Girl."
"Really?" He asked, locking his eyes with hers.
He was actually sort of shocked at her response. He knew kids weren't exactly her cup of tea, but at the rate she answered his question it was like it was something she had thought about before.
She cleared her throat. "Yeah."
They walked in and everybody were talking in groups. Some faces he recognized, some he didn't.
A voice came up behind them both. "Martyy!"
"Garrett, hey man!" Deeks lets go of her arm and "bro hugged" the man. Kensi just stood there somewhat awkwardly.
"Who is this?"
"Kensi, my wife." The words slipped off his tongue like it was natural.
Kensi held out her hand and shook hands with him. "Nice to meet you."
"I always knew he would marry a brunette. He always seemed to have a thing for them." Garrett grinned.
"Oh, I've heard," she said, eyeing Deeks.
"Why don't you talk to my wife, she is over there in the white dress," Garret said, pointing to the blonde on the other side of the room.
She looked at Deeks, they didn't have to talk to know what she was asking he just nodded his head yes. She would be lying if she said she wasn't just a bit uncomfortable. She would rather stay by his side than be separated from him, but they had to make this look as real as possible so she went.
"She looks just like-"
Deeks just chuckled, and cut him off. "Yeah, yeah, I know. She actually knows."
Garrett's eyes bugged out. "How does she know?"
"Ray's big mouth told her."
"Where is he?"
"He uh, couldn't make it." Deeks stuttered over his words. He hadn't even thought about Ray. It's not like he could say he was in Witness Protection under a totally different name and has a wife and a baby. Actually, unlike him.
"You've been in hiding. I didn't even know you were married."
"Yeah, I've been really busy. Wedding was small, caught up with work, and now a baby on the way."
More like I am no longer a lawyer and I am now a cop who works with a bunch of super-secret federal agents, and my "wife" over there is one of them.
"Well I'm happy for you. You really got your act together."
"Yeah."
They spent the rest of the time talking to people he hadn't seen in years. Hours later he and Kensi finally left.
"So are you going to tell me why you dragged me and yourself to that?" She asked. Peeling off her heals and throwing them into the back seat of the car. She was still just a little annoyed that he had her go.
"It's my high school reunion. I wanted to go."
"Don't lie to me."
"I am not lying." She gave him a glare. It was the don't play your games with me I can read right through you glare. "Ok. Fine. I wanted to go because I wanted to show all those people who looked at me as the guy with a shitty childhood and got himself into trouble that I did something that gives my life more meaning than that."
"So what are you?"
The conversation was starting to take a deeper route.
"More than my crappy childhood. I'm a cop, partner to a woman who can eat five donuts in one sitting, and a best friend."
His words caused her to smile broadly, and she looked at him with this twinkle in her eye
"Since I am feeling nice right now you don't have to do my laundry, but you still have to buy me breakfast and give me control of the radio for a month."
"Deal."
