Chapter 25: I Can't Wait to Bomb Some Dodongos!

Last time, our heroes had defeated the Egg King MKII, & the evil scientists were blasted off to who knows where. With the flickies now free from roboticizing, our heroes set off for Hyrule to stop whatever evil plans were taking fold there, not noticing a foreboding transmission. It looks like they're about to arrive at their destination. Let's get back to them.

Date: August 22, 2011, Time: 10:00 am, Location: Hyrule Field, East

"This must be Hyrule Field. I wonder how many more villains there are left. There can't be that many, right?" Matt asked as they arrived in a giant grassy field.

"According to Megaman's data, there are 2 left." Tails replied.

"I apparently recorded that static too. I get parts of words, but they don't make any sense. It does sound like it's getting slowly clearer though." Megaman added.

"Perhaps you picked up its frequency by accident? Oh well, it could prove useful later." Blaze said. "Also, I'm picking up an evil energy with the Sol Emeralds."

"I sense it too. It's powerful. It also seems to be coming from over there." Knuckles noted as he pointed north toward a castle. Everyone then heard a fight off in the distance. Why don't we quickly take a peek?

Date: August 22, 2011, Time: 10:00 am, Location: Hyrule Field, South

Over on the south side of the giant field, a swordsman in green could be seen cutting down red goblin-like enemies. As they died, the monsters burst into purple smoke. After beating them all, the swordsman sheathed his blade & started heading north. "Don't worry Zelda, I'll save you."

As our group neared a bridge on the northern edge of Hyrule Field, they saw that 3 fully armored knights stood in their way. When the knights saw them, they asked what the heroes wanted. "We're foreigners trying to stop this evil alliance from taking over multiple lands. We sensed an evil magic coming from that castle over there. Why do you ask?" Matt replied.

"Are any of you known as Matt, Sonic, or Mario?"

"That would be me, the blue hedgehog, & the man in red. How do you know of us?" The knights then brandished their swords.

"Because we work for Ganondorf, the Dark Wizard. We are his elite known as Darknuts." A knight in the back also revealed a spiked ball & chain. Matt then realized something.

"Guys, be careful. Darknuts were always some of the harder enemies. The guy with the flail is an Iron Knuckle. He is also tough."

"Um. How do we get past the armor in the first place?" Luigi asked.

"Well, I've got my sword combined with strength, Sonic has his quills, Tails' gun has electric properties, Megaman has his special weapons, & Knuckles is just strong. We should be f-" Right as Matt was finishing, he got a face full of the Iron Knuckle's flail launching him southward.

"You really shouldn't strategize in front of the enemy." The minion said.

"Matt!"

"Don't worry. Increased bone & muscle density. Can't say the same for my glasses though. Start fighting while I take a minute to fix them. Ow, nose." Megaman retorted with a Metal Blade that severed the flail's chain as well as damaging the Iron Knuckle's armor. The Darknuts then decided to rush in & try to attack everyone while the Iron Knuckle proceeded to punch Megaman in the face, launching him near Matt. "These guys are tough. No wonder they're elite troops." Luigi said.

"Luckily, I've defeated quite a few of them by now. Now, if you could all quickly duck." Everyone did, & the green clad swordsman from earlier came crashing down blade first right into one of the Darknuts' eyeholes. He then proceeded to shoot an arrow into the other Darknut's face. Both knights disappeared in a puff of purple smoke. The Iron Knuckle then jumped of the cliff do to his weapon being destroyed & not wanting to die by sword.

Now that Matt was back on his feet, the swordsman introduced himself when Mario asked. "My name is Link. One in a long line of heroes. I'm captain of the royal knights & an evil wizard kidnapped Princess Zelda & used his magic to throw all of the soldiers, including me, out of the castle."

"So you're on your way back?" Matt asked.

"Yep. Who are you guys?"

"I'm Matt & they are Mario, Luigi, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Blaze, Megaman, Rose, & the Doctor. We are trying to stop an evil alliance, & I have a hunch that wizard is a part of it."

"In that case, how about we team up?"

"Sure. You know what they say, the more the merrier." Mario said.

"Gah. Now I'm having bad memories of the Egg Breaker." Matt groaned.

"Uhhh. I don't remember that robot." Sonic said.

"In the Black Arm invasion, Shadow fought it with Espio in Mad Matrix."

"Oh." With that, they all headed for the castle. Unfortunately, the wizard was waiting for them.
