Chapter 26. Krypter realizes something important. Enjoy!

That night I made a weird dream. I was sitting in a dark room, similar to a dojo. The only light was coming from a candle lit up in the middle of the room. For some unknown reason I couldn't move, it was like ropes were wrapped around me. Yet, there wasn't anything there. I felt a presence near me, but I wasn't seeing anyone. Suddenly someone started reciting the T-Rex key prophecy. It was a man's voice.

"Only the one who will beat C.B. and have the key of T-Rex will have the right to learn The Secret and defeat the one that wants our end."

He kept repeating that over and over again… After the tenth time I wanted to punch him the face to shut him up, but I didn't know who was saying that or where he was. One thing for sure he was really starting to get on my nerves. Then I finally woke up, the voice still echoing inside my head.

"… that wants our end, wants our end, end, end…"

Rosie is fast asleep on the couch, looking as peaceful as ever. I wonder what she's dreaming about… I shrug before getting up and making my way to the bathroom. I wash my face with a wet cloth. I let my hands stay on my face for a couple seconds before I bring them down, slowly, revealing my forehead, then my eyes and after my nose.

I wonder if Rosie has feelings for me… I'm not that bad looking after all.

A little voice inside my brain says: "Then why don't you just ask her!" But I ignore it. It would be useless; she'd probably just shrug it off or joke about it.

I sigh before pulling a shirt on and heading out of the bathroom. As I walk over to my bed something crosses my mind. Bartholomew… The BB Bandit boss… Captain…?

Suddenly an invisible bell dings inside my head.

Of course! I can't believe I didn't think about it earlier!

I leap in front of my friend's bed and start shaking her.

"Rosie, Rosie wake up! We need to go, NOW, it's an emergency!"

"What. Do. You. Want," she says, her words muffled by the pillow. "You should never wake me up before nine. Or ugly things happen…" She turns over so her back is facing me.

"Do you really think I'm scared by your threats?" I say, folding my arms on my chest, even though she can't see me. "I'm not joking! Get up!"

"Why…?" she whines, half asleep.

"Is the tournament today?"

"Does it look like I know? Why are you such in a rush?"

"Never mind."

I go out of the room and head towards the elevator, where I click on the 1st floor button. When the doors slide open I walk/run over to the receptionist's counter.

"Is the level-up tournament for fossil fighters today?" I ask him as quickly as I can.

"Yes sir," he answers. I'm surprised he actually understood what I said. "I think the inscriptions end in a couple hours."

"Ok thank you."

I go back to my hotel room to find Rosie still lying on the sofa, and I think she fell back asleep…

I sigh, the second time today, before filling up a glass of water and dumping it on her face. She shrieks before jumping on her feet and looking around. Her eyes land on me. I smirk.

"I see you're finally fully awake. Get dressed; we're going to the stadium."

"I hate you, you know that right?" she says while taking her clothes and heading towards the bathroom.

"I know," I smile.

A couple minutes later, when she walks out of the bathroom, ready, her question makes me laugh so much.

"Do you think I'm a fish or something? Do I have a tail that I'm not aware of?"

I laugh for several minutes, bent down and clutching my stomach. When I finally manage to control myself I look up to Rosie, who didn't move, a blank expression on her face.

"No, no. You don't have a tail, don't worry. Let's go to the stadium now."

"And why exactly are we going there?" she says as she follows me to the front door.

"Well, I need to get to level 6. I'll explain everything later. We need to get moving," I conclude while preparing my bag, stuffing my dino medals, money, and other stuff in it.

"Gosh, I really wonder why we're such in a hurry."

"Alright, you go first," I say, holding the door open for her.

"Ok thanks, but if Blue-Eyes is waiting for us in the hallway I hope my death will haunt you for the rest of your life," she grimly says while walking out in the hall.

I chuckle while closing the door and locking it. We head downstairs and make our way to the stadium. When we get there I turn around to face her and say :

"You can wait here if you want, I just need to use the bathroom."

"Oki doki," she smiles.

"I want you to be staying at that exact spot when I come back, not kidnapped by some pedophile!" I yell while running towards the restroom.

"Shut up and go do your thing already!" she yells back.

I laugh as I enter the bathroom. I wash my hands when I'm done and head out, wipping them on my jeans. I look up and see something that makes me beyond mad; Rosie, talking to Saurhead. It looks like they're having an amazing conversation and right now Rosie is laughing at something "hilarious" he said. Why is she talking to him? A guy so egocentric and obnoxious?

I can feel the jalousy coursing through my veins. I march in their direction, furious.

"So... What's going on here?" I ask, shifting from one feet to another.

Rosie spins around, her face enlightnen by a huge smile.

"Krypter, I present to you Saurhead. Saurhead, Krypter."

He abruptly turns around to face me. Anger appears on his face.

"You?!" he yells, pointing his finger at me. "What are you doing here? ROOAAAR!"

"Why do you think people come here? To battle or to watch. I have my dino medals on me and I'm ready to win. So yeah, I'm here to battle. More specifically in the tournament so I can level up! Anyways, enough about me. What were YOU doing talking to MY Rosie, uh?"

"Don't sass me!" he growls, spitting on the floor. "ROOOAAR! And level 6 is pretty impressive kid! I'm excited for when you reach level 10 so we can finally have that battle! And for you information, your Rosie is my COUSIN, if you didn't know that already."

It feels like I'm falling in the depths of Rivet Ravine's canyons. Saurhead and Rosie... Cousins?!

"Her grandfather is my grandmother's brother," he continues. "ROOOOAAR! What a coincidence right? Why do you care anyways? Is she your girlfriend or something?" he scoffs, tapping me on the chest.

"Wh-what?!" I stammer. "You come from the same family?! Since when?"

"Hum..." Rosie answers. "Since we were BORN, Krypter. Why does it seem to bother you so much?"

"N-no, everything's fine," I lie. "I have no problem with that."

I gulp.

"I hope so," she says, her brows furrowed." She turns around towards Saurhead. "Sorry Saur, but me and Krypter need to go. Let's talk another time, and try not to murder anyone!"

"I'll try," he winks. "Be careful Rosie, and you watch your back kid! I can still kick your ass whenever I want to! ROOOAAR!"

He then starts walking towards his fans a little bit further. Rosie looks at me before pushes me, catching me off guard. I almost fall but manage to regain my balance.

"What the hell was that Krypter?! You didn't have to be so rude with him! What's your problem?"

"It's just that, hum... Euh..."

Krypter, you can just admit to her that you were jealous, I think to myself. Because then you would admit having a crush on her. And it's not the right moment to reveal that. And if you say that it's because Saurhead's a jerk then she would probably flip you off or ditch you. Improvise..."

"I was... Worried, about you. I thought you got kidnapped again, so I acted a bit excessively when seeing you with Saurhead. We never know, he could've been a disguised criminal. We don't know what's under that dinosaur mask!"

Ok, I know that was a bad excuse, but it's better than nothing.

"Krypter… Stop being so overprotective," she says, rolling her eyes. "I know how to defend myself! And I know Saurhead better than you; I think I would've noticed if he would've been some freak trying to capture me."

"Yeah, sorry. It's just that I didn't want to lose you, hum I mean…"

Something suddenly crosses her eyes. Is it… Joy? Relief?

"It's ok Krypter. I forgive you. You're cute when you act like a knight anyways," she winks.

I feel my cheeks reddening again.

Why does this only happen to me?

"Ok let's just forget about this," I quickly say. "Go sit in the bleachers with the rest of the spectators. I'll go start my test. See you later!"

"Ok, good luck! Go kick some ass!" she says, grinning.

"I'll do my best," I smile.

I turn around to go see the receptionist.

I passed the cleaning test, which is not really a surprise.

"Good job," says Tiffany when she sees that I'm back. "Now you need to go through the battle evaluation. Today, you need to beat two people in order to go up to level 6. The first one is as important as the second battle, but the last one is harder to win. Win both before your fifteenth turn and you go up to the next level. Good luck!"

I make my way to the door on my left. There's already someone in the room… A girl around my age. She has dark blond hair and is wearing a bit of makeup. She's average height and has sparkling green eyes. Her outfit is composed of a blue skirt and black leggings with a blouse, the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. She's kind of cute… But my heart belongs to Rosie. Even though she doesn't know it yet.

"Hello handsome!" she grins when seeing me arrive. "It looks like I'm your opponent today. I hope you're not going to take it easy on me just because I'm a girl, if you know what I mean…" she winks, wrapping her arm around my bicep.

I slowly take her arm away and smile.

"You don't have to worry about that. I always do my best."

"I'm sure you do, and my name's Becca, by the way, if you…" she gently takes my hand and starts writing something down on the palm of it. "… would like to call me!"

"Will do," I say, forcing a smile. "My name's Krypter, as you probably know."

"Yup, I know."

She chuckles as she heads out onto the battlefield, swaying her hips back and forth. I shake my head, grinning, before walking out myself. We go to our respective spots. I scan the crowd in search of Rosie. I finally spot her between an old woman and a young boy. I don't even understand why it took me more than a couple seconds to find her; she's the one screaming the loudest. She gives me an encouraging smile before yelling.

"GO KRYPTER! YEAAAAAH!"

I laugh before waving at her. She gives me a thumbs-up. I smile before bringing my attention back on the game. Becca gets out her three medallions.

"Onyx, Elasmo and Krona, I choose you!"

The trio appears on the field. Onyx is at the attack, while Elasmo is at the bottom SZ position and Krona in the other support zone.

I then throw mine in the air.

"Spinax, Coatlus and M-Raptor, I pick you!"

My medals transform into vivosaurs. Spinax is in the AZ, Coatlus is flying above the upper SZ position and M-Raptor is positioned in the other one.

"May the battle begin!" Slate and P.A yell in unison.

"Both are trying to level up, so this might be a tough battle," P.A. states. "They will try their best."

"You're right, but I'm still confident that Krypter will win," he answers, cheering for me. "As you know, he is my favorite."

"Yes, I'm aware of that. Let's bring our attention back on the battle shall we? Becca is the one starting."

"Onyx, use Whiplash against M-Raptor!" Becca commands to her vivosaur.

He runs towards his target and bites his head before whipping him with his tail. My vivosaur shrieks in pain; he lost a third of his health.

"Well Onyx had a disadvantage!" P.A. says, as if I didn't know that already. "Let's see how Krypter is going to react to that."

"Spinax, Spinax Fang on Onyx!" I shout, pointing towards his prey.

My vivosaur grins before leaping on Onyx, bitting his neck. He goes back to his original position afterwards. Onyx already lost half of his health!

"Ouch, that must've hurt," Slate says.

"Onyx and Krona, switch positions. Then, Krona, use Krona Bite on M-Raptor!"

Onyx retreats in the evasion zone while Krona moves forward to the attack position. He then attacks my small vivosaur, fiercely bitting his tail. M-Raptor now has a third of his lives left.

"Spinax, use your combo on Krona!"

Spinax lunges at the fish vivosur and bites one of his fins. Then, he jumps on his back and kicks him square in the head. Krona roars. He has a quarter of his lives left!

"Krona, bite M-Raptor and finish him!" yells Becca, fire in her eyes.

After the assault my vivosaur collapses on the ground, then disappears in a flash of light.

"Spinax, use Spinax Fang against Krona to kill him. After that Coatlus use Great Vortex on Elasmo!"

Spinax runs at Krona and bites his tail. The water vivosaur shrieks in pain before disintegrating into thin air. Elasmo marches to the AZ. Then, Coatlus flies several feet high in the sky before falling towards his target, twirling. He hits him head first on the back. Elasmo roars before glaring at my vivosaur. He lost half of his lives, now enraged!

"Well, it looks like Krypter enraged one of Becca's vivosaurs!" Slate says. "Let's see how this is going to turn out."

"Elasmo, use your combo on Spinax!"

Elasmo swims towards my vivosaur and attempts to bite him, but Spinax easily avoids the attack. After that he starts swirling around him, creating a whirlpool. Even though he doesn't miss, he still has a disadvantage, therefore my vivosaur only loses a quarter of his health.

"Spinax, Spinax Combo on Elasmo! Kill him!" I yell, pointing to the target.

Spinax destroys the long-necked vivosaur. He falls to the ground with a loud thump. He then turns back into a medallions. Onyx is the only one left. As Elasmo disappears he walks to the attack zone.

"Well, things aren't going very well for Becca," P.A. says.

"Only a miracle can save her to this point," Slate mumbles.

"Onyx, use Venomous Barrage against Spinax!" Becca shouts. She sounds nervous.

Onyx attacks Spinax three times, leaving a third of his lives. He manages to poison him too.

"Spinax, finish this battle with your combo!" I yell, putting as much confidence as I can in my voice.

My vivosaur runs towards his prey and hits him twice on the head. Onyx groans before collapsing on the field, dead. He disappears.

"Give it up for the winner, Krypter Paleimi!" Slate yells.

The crowd start clapping and cheering, screams erupting all around me. I have no trouble hearing Rosie over everyone. I wave to the public before going back inside. I walk up to the receptionist, who tells me to go back in the gray chamber, where my next opponent is waiting for me. Ugh, so much walking.

I make my way back to the room. In there is awaiting my next rival… A… Cop? Wait, it's one of the two police officers that came to arrest the BB Bandits!

"Hello Krypter," he greets me, bowing.

Strange…

"Is Rosie doing ok?"

"Yeah, thanks for asking. She's with the rest of the crowd."

"Good, I was concerned about her. I am aware that it must be strange for you to battle a police officer, but you have no choice. I am the level 5 master. I am looking forward to battling you. Good luck."

He turns around and crosses the two doors leading to the field. I shrug and follow him. We position ourselves properly on the battlefield.

"Daspleto, Alio and Cerato, I command you to get out!" the cop shouts while lunching his medallions on the ground.

The three medals transform into vivosaurs. Daspleto: AZ. Alio: upper SZ. Cerato: SZ below Daspleto.

I then throw my dino medals in the air.

"Spinax, S-Raptor and Venator, I choose you!"

My three vivosaurs appear. S-Raptor is at the attack, Spinax is on top of him while Venator is in the other SZ.

"May the crucial battle begin!" the two announcers shout.

Fvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfvfv

"AND KRYPTER IS THE WINNER!" screams Slate in his microphone. "What a battle ladies and gentlemen!"

The crowd explodes, screams and clapping filling my ears, busting my ear drums.

"GOOD JOB KRYPTER! YOU'RE THE BEST!"

Yup, that was Rosie.

I salute the public before leaving the field. I walk back to Tiffany, who changes my license; it know shows that I'm a level six fossil fighter! Finally!

I turn around to go join Rosie waiting for me near the entrance. She punches me in the shoulder before congratulating me.

"You were amazing Krypter! I wish I could be a fossil fighter as talented as you…"

"But you are," I say softly, holding her chin with my hand. "It's just that right now is not the best time for you to go around and battle people."

"I know…" she says, a tear rolling down her cheek. She looks up at me. We stay like that for several seconds, my hand still on her chin, both gazing into each others eyes.

"Get a room!" someone yells teasingly.

We chuckle then get out of the stadium.

"So why exactly were you such in a rush to level up?" Rosie asks me as we walk around the fountain.

"Right! Totally forgot about that! Let's go back to the hotel; you'll see over there."

I start running towards the building, not even bothering to look if Rosie's following me. She mumbles something before going after me.

The next chapter will be very revealing.
