Welcome all to chapter 24 of 'Darkness of the Night'. This is the chapter where it is revealed on how Elphaba survived a bullet to the chest. I've heard one theory about it. I did leave little tiny hints on what the truth is but only reading the chapter will reveal it. There is a bit of a twist in this chapter, something that I do a lot in my writings. I won't say what happens again. Lol Anyways, I will stop yapping and let you all read on. Read and enjoy!
Chapter 24
Glinda is very thankful to be already on the ground because if she would be standing she'll be on the ground again at seeing Elphaba alive. She is positive that her lover had been dead the entire time. The good witch puts a finger to her lips in thought passing through her mind. Could it be? Is it that powerful? The Wizard grunts as he tries to get out of the head lock the green woman has on him. For a dead woman she has a very strong grip on him Oscar motions his soldiers to back off, for he can handle this new twist. A plan is already formulating in his head.
"Ugh…how are you alive? I shot you in the chest." He asks in a stain voice. Elphaba opens her mouth to answer the question but she realizes that she doesn't have an answer on how she is a live. The last thing remembers is the gun going off then blackness soon followed by a bright light. She then felt her soul being dragged back into her body where she awoke to find the Wizard pointing his gun towards Glinda.
"I don't know really. Honestly, I don't feel any from the wounds or any injuries I had." Elphaba confesses in not feeling any type of pain especially in her chest, where she received the gunshot wound. Glinda's eyes move back and forth in thought at hearing all of this. She gives a scoff before shaking her head in disbelief. It actually worked. It fucking worked. The good witch runs her fingers through her hair. It worked very well actually.
"I can't believe it." She says out loud, making two sets of soulful brown eyes to look at her with curiosity. What can't she believe? Oscar clears her throat. He wants to know what is going through her head right now. Elphaba just nods her head in agreement. She wants to know why Glinda said that as well as all the people out in the crowd, who are hanging on every word that is being said. This is getting more and more interesting by the second. The good witch gives a soft chuckle before she pushes off the ground and sways slightly. She quickly wipes away the tears off her cheek. She doesn't need to cry anymore.
"I tweaked the potion that took away your allergy potion. I made it so it would accelerate your healing ability. The nightmares I had influenced that. I couldn't lose you again. I just didn't think it would be that good." Glinda answers with a sniffle. Elphaba blinks her eyes at hearing this. She unconsciously lets her grip on Oscar loosen up a bit though he doesn't do anything to show he feels it. This is kind of overwhelming to hear. That explains she felt the cut on her lip healing or how she came back from the dead. The potion worked all too well actually. This is something she will have to discuss later with Glinda but after they bring down the Wizard.
"Whoa!" the green woman gives a shout when Oscar takes advantage of her stunness to throw her over his shoulder.
"Ugh." She grunts when her back connects to the floor of the platform. She exhales sharply and quickly rolls out of the way when one of his boots starts to come down to stomp her. Glinda runs to her side before grabbing her arm to help her get up. Elphaba holds onto Glinda's hands as she stands up.
"When this is over we need to have a serious discussion on the secrets you've been keeping from me." The raven haired beauty says while looking down to the blonde with that look says there will be no 'if, ands, or buts' about it. They will be talking about it later. Glinda gives a nervous. She rather fight the Wizard and Madam Morrible by herself then have a talk with Elphaba.
"O-Ok." The blonde agrees with a slight reluctance. Oscar clears his throat while rubbing his sore neck. It doesn't matter if Elphaba magically came back to life. He will still take Glinda down. He just needs more help.
"Guards!" He yells before the Gale Force start to pull out their guns but one is quickly taken down by a snarling Rain. She knows she didn't wait for the signal but she couldn't help it. She does a backward flip when she sees another guard point at her and fire. The bullet just grazes her fur before she lands on her paws again. The Wolf growls with her claws pushing out of her paws. She has been waiting for this moment for a long time.
"Now!" Glinda yells to the crowd. It's time to bring the rest of her party in since Oscar brought in his soldiers to try and stop her. The people shout in surprise when Ares gives a loud roar before leaping onto the stage to help out the two witches and Rain.
"This is far from over, Oscar." Glinda says as she lets go of the green hand and takes a step forward. Oscars cracks his knuckles with a smirk. He agrees. This battle is just the beginning.

Glinda hold her bleeding side with hard breathing as she looks to a barely exhausted Oscar. She doesn't know how long she has been fighting him with magic but she knows that she is getting near her limit on her usage of magic. Most of the people, who came for an execution, have run off for safety when the magic has created loud explosion and buildings have been damaged. Oscar gives an evil laughter as he paces in front of the clearly exhausted Glinda. Despite her persistence she will fall in the in this battle. His guards have kept the Animals at back and they have been distracting Elphaba so the blonde wouldn't have help from her resurrected lover.
"Tired already?" I thought you had better stamina than this." He says with mock disappointment in his voice. He is the opposite in fact he has never felt so alive in his life. Despite her best efforts in all of this she will still lose because he is the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz. Glinda wipes a bead of sweat off her brow. She doesn't know where he gets his energy to keep using the amount of magic they have been using. Even the most powerful witch or wizard will eventually tire out but not him. It's like he has extra magic batteries to keep him going.
"I'm just getting started." Glinda bluffs greatly as she forces to stand tall despite her body is ready to collapse on her. Oscar gives a soft laugh because he can see that he will about to win this battle which means he will win the war when he delivers the fatal blow to the good witch.
"Let's see then." He replies as he slowly makes his way towards the heavily breathing Glinda. He easily catches a weak fireball thrown at him. He looks at the glowing fireball with a slight smirk. He wants to have a quick conversation with her before she dies. Just to drive the nail into her heart.
"Hmmm...So what my soldiers say are true." Oscar mumbles as he keeps on staring at the warm ball. They said that the good witch has been using fire to take them down. She actually has killed a few of them with her new found ability. The gentle woman didn't seem capable of doing. She has changed and he likes that she is finally embracing the dark side of her. It's about time. Oh, how they could have ruled Oz together with an iron fist if she truly turned to that dark place in her mind. Alas that's not how it worked because she had always stayed in the light of goodness. That is why it has come down to all of this.
"Tell me, does Elphaba know you've killed." Oscar questions as he closes his hand around the fireball to quell it. He watches the smoke escape through the cracks of his fingers for a couple of seconds before turning her sights on the now fidgeting good witch. Ah…so that's another secret his daughter doesn't know about.
"So, she still thinks you're still all pure and good when I know better." He replies as he points to her. This is just too perfect.
"You're a murder just like I am."
Glinda sharply looks to him to open her mouth to protest being labeled a murder but no words come out. She knows, deep down, what he says is true. She has killed soldiers that nobody knows about. Everybody thinks that she just injured the soldiers when in reality she made sure they died. Their faces still haunt her in her dreams. Oscar gives a soft laugh as he gets closer to her. He can twists things around after he kills Glinda. He will show the true colors of the good witch and when his daughter's will is broken will he raise her up again. Then the two of the will rule Oz together like he always dreamed of.
"She won't know what to do when I tell her and I will mold her to my views then Oz will be ours!" He yells as he points his hands to the slightly trembling Glinda. She gives a shout when she thrown backwards by a powerful blast of magic. She gives a loud grunt when her back hits the back of the stage.
"Glinda!"
The good witch barely registers the voice yelling her name before she limply falls to the floor with bits of wooden beams falling on her, making it hard for her to get it. If she even wanted to that is. Glinda gives a loud cough with flecks of blood staining the wood floor. She can't believe that this is how it ends. The blonde feels the realization that there will be no happy endings for them starts to sink in.
"This is where you die now."
Blue eyes look up when she hears this coming from Oscar. Her heart stops when she sees streams of lightening streaking towards her. The blonde knows if those bolts hit her weaken body she will be gone for good.
Elphaba gives a loud grunt as she throws a hard right hook to the jaw of a soldier she is fighting.
"Ha!" the green woman says in triumph when he goes down like a sack of potatoes. She is glad that she let Fiyero teach her hand to hand combat. It is nice to not solely rely on magic and it feels exhilarating to say the least. She runs her fingers through her hair before looking around to see how everybody else is doing. Her eyes widen in horror when she witnesses lightening heading straight towards her down lover. There is no time for her do anything to stop it. All she can do is being forced to watch the scene play out.
"No!"
Glinda swallows hard as the lightening is getting closer and closer to her. She is silently saying her goodbyes in her head before the inevitable occurs. Just when the lightening is about to strike her down a blur of black and silver suddenly is in front of her, to shield her. Rain gives a howl of pain as the bolts rip through her body. It seemed like an eternity when it only last for seconds before the assault stops on the Wolf's body. It feels like slow motion as the good witch watches Rain's body fall to the floor and doesn't move after that. Glinda finds the strength in her room to get herself out from under the beams to stumble her way to rain.
"Rain." The blonde calls out to the still unmoving Wolf. Her breathing gets heavy at not hearing any noise coming from her.
"Oh, this is rich." Oscar replies with laughter in his voice. This is even better to see Glinda suffer emotional pain before he kills her. It's also kind of funny to see so many people and Animals sacrifice themselves for her when she is not worth saving.
"No…no...not again." Glinda says quietly with tears in her eyes when the green eyes are staring blankly at her. The flashbacks of Silver jumping in front of the bullet to save her. Now his daughter has done the exact same thing and it's clear it cost the young Wolf's her life, just like her father. Her hands turn to fists before she lifts her head up to the sky before she screams out in anguish to the heavens. Everybody stops fighting once they hear this horrible noise. Fiyero gives a gasp of horror when he sees Glinda closing the green eyes. It can't be true. Ares looks completely devastated before he starts running towards the two. He thinks Rain can still be saved somehow. Elphaba is quickly running by his side to get to Glinda and to see if she can help. The good witch looks to Oscar with an intense hatred in her now stormy, blue eyes when she hears him laugh. She will make him pay for her death and she will make him suffer for it all. The blonde gives an intense yell before rushing towards him with fire swirling around her like a fiery halo. It's time to end this once and for all.
Oh no….Rain has died in the same way her father died, protecting Glinda. How will the blonde ever get over this death when it reminds her so much of how her dear friend died? Will I bring Rain back from the dead or will I have her stayed dead just like her father, Silver. Elphaba will be defiantly having a talk with Glinda, if they survive this fight, on all the secrets the blonde has been keeping from her. It's not something the green woman is used to. Glinda will have a lot to answer for. Sooo…the next chapter will be updated on Monday, if work doesn't force me onto third. You will see the fury of Glinda in the next chapter. She finally snapped after all the Wizard has done to her. I have to say it's fun writing Glinda having more of a dark side. You don't get to see that often. I'll stop my ramblings and I will see you all on Monday! Until then!
