Heart of Shadows
Chapter 25: Origin 2
Everyone gathered into Kai's room for the story he was about to tell. They made themselves comfortable and watched the lightning user sit Indian style and rest his elbows on his legs. He leaned on his hands and let out a sigh.
"First off, what did Uzume tell you? I know she said something," he stated.
"She said you would tell us the entirety of your life story, from childhood up to now," Minato responded. Kai nodded.
"Okay then, I'll get on that."
"You're really going to tell us?" Minato asked.
"I promised them that I would; and you know I never go back on my promises," he reminded him. "Also, there was a plan my cousin and I came up with; this is the second phase of that plan. I'll explain that later, but now it's story time."
"Yay story time!" Musubi shouted happily.
"Before I begin, you should know of the nickname I was given as a kid," Kai said.
"Nickname? What could you possibly be called?" Jacob questioned.
"Zeus," he revealed. That name clicked into everyone's head.
"Zeus? As in the God of the Gods?" Kochou inquired. Kai nodded his head.
"Yes, when I was a kid, I was given the nickname Zeus; and I'll explain why in this story."
Kai took a deep breath.
"When I was just a little kid, I always had an attraction towards lightning; it just always fascinated me, but little did I know that it would turn out to be my misfortune."
"What do you mean?" Minato asked. Kai narrowed his eyes.
"Firestorm didn't grant me the power of lightning; I was born with it."
Everyone gasped in surprise.
"That's right; I was born with lightning. Firestorm only amplifies my power; and with her and the twins, it grows in power."
"Hold on, how were you born with control over lightning?" Kochou asked. Kai only shrugged his shoulders.
"Even I don't know; doctors weren't able to explain the condition, but when I was just a baby, my powers would sometime run wild on their own and cause massive destruction."
"Was it that bad?" Minato asked.
"The hospital I was born in caught on fire and blew up. Many people died, but my parents and I were ones that managed to survive; however, the remaining survivors considered me a dangerous entity and tried to convince my parents to get rid of me, or they'll risk putting themselves in more danger. They didn't listen though and kept me along. As I grew, so did my power, but it sometimes ran wild. No one was safe, many people suffered, but through it all, my parents continued to help me. They never gave up on me and vice versa. I tried my best to control it, but when you're a kid, even the smallest issue gets you riled up."
"You were an outcast because of your powers weren't you?" Kochou asked. Kai nodded.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. For those who don't know where I'm from, I was born in America, not Japan."
"What?" Those who didn't know stated. He nodded again.
"Yep, I was born in America, more specifically, California."
"So you know both English and Japanese?" Jacob asked. He nodded.
"To watashi wa mada eigo o shitte iru."
(And I still know English.)
They looked at him in confusion.
"What did you say?" Kochou asked.
"And I still know English," he repeated in their native tongue. "I haven't lost my touch; but back to my story. Kochou is correct; I was picked on and treated as an outcast, but what they didn't know was that they only made my power rise. I always tended to myself so I wouldn't cause trouble, someone always messed with me. I've been called every insult you can think of, monster, freak, you name it; and it just keeps getting worse. One day, it was raining much like the other day. I was standing outside of my school because when lightning gets really sharp, it will sometimes strike down. We were actually lucky that this one didn't strike down when I was sleeping. I stayed outside so it wouldn't hit the school, but I couldn't get the words out of my head. They just kept playing through my mind; I couldn't take it anymore. I just wanted it to stop; I wanted to be left alone. I wanted everyone that hated me to just disappear; and that's when it happened. I don't know how it happened, but I saw this symbol suddenly appear in front of me while lightning was discharging like never before. The words kept fueling my rage, making it boil to volcanic levels; it was too much. I just wanted it to stop; and my first target was the school I attended. With that symbol, I used my powers; but after that, I woke up to find it still raining."
"You passed," Minato said. Kai nodded.
"Yes, as soon as I touched the symbol, I just blacked out and woke up several minutes afterwards."
"What happened to the school?" Kochou asked. Kai stayed quiet for a moment.
"I destroyed it, along with the entire lot. All that was left was a giant crater, no one survived; they all died. Everyone on the lot perished in the explosion, but I still survived. That's how I obtained the name Zeus."
No one said a word.
"It didn't take long for people to find me; and this time, they really tried to kill me; but my powers were still active. I just blew everyone away and headed home. I was lucky though, my parents didn't blame me for the destruction, but they knew we couldn't stay there anymore. So for a while, they kept me hidden and planned to take us somewhere else; however, when we were driving to wherever it is we were going, someone encountered us. I didn't know what happened, but all I saw were my mom and dad holding hands and then darkness. When I opened my eyes, I saw fire rising from the car, but that was it. I didn't see my parents or the man that appeared before us. I looked around for them, but when I found them, they were already gone. I couldn't get to them because of the car, but I knew they were gone. No matter how much I called out to them, no matter how loud I screamed, they wouldn't respond; I knew then that I was all alone. I was only five when it happened and I then knew the full cruelty of the world."
Again, no one had anything to say.
"I passed out again from exhaustion; I had a nightmare, everything that happened was returning. When I woke up, I found myself in another house; it seemed to be a dream, but life really is cruel. Everything did happen; I just couldn't bear it. I cried pretty much the entire night. The next morning, I found out that my uncle and auntie brought me there; but the thing is, I subconsciously pushed the memory of what happened away so to me, my parents never died and my uncle and auntie were my parents. They were aware of my problem and continued the same plan my parents did. That's how I arrived in Japan; I was six when I came here."
"So how did you learn to speak Japanese?" Jacob asked.
"My uncle taught me and I learned a few things on my own. It took a while, but I can speak fluent Japanese as you can plainly see," he said. "Once I knew the language and a lot of the culture, I was able to walk around. This is where I met Minato and Yukari; I was seven at this point. At first, I was distant around them, but they welcomed me; however, some of the townspeople weren't that generous. Many people don't know of American culture and most assumed we were bad people because we're foreigners. That's basically how Minato, Yukari, and I became so close; I would usually hide at their place so no one would get me. Turns out, I wasn't the only victim. My uncle and auntie were also having troubles with work and stress took over. Things pretty much turned out the same for me when I was at home. I was always quiet, aloof, even when hanging out with Minato and Yukari; but trouble always found its way to me. I was tormented, targeted, and abused; but I stayed calm. I've known Minato and his family for five years, but when I was twelve, I decided to leave town and head here to the capital. Before I left, I found out about my cousin Natsuo."
"So you just walked in MBI without any trouble?" Kochou asked.
"I got lucky this time, and found him just as he was leaving. I told him my story and he took me in for a while. That was when I met the Discipline Squad, but I didn't know they were sekirei. Beni and Haihane were like the usual girls who fall victim to my charm, but Karasuba was different. These were her exact words.
"You're an interesting one just like your cousin. I can see that you too share a bad history let me guess; you want more power. You're tired of being weak, tired of being pushed around, and now you want to get back at those who hurt you. I can help you gain more power. Your cousin and I can make you strong. Do you want to be strong? Do you want to get back at those who caused you so much pain? Do you want to show them how strong you really are? Do you want more power?"
"I didn't hesitate when answering and accepted her help. With her and my cousin, I trained hard for seven years, but when I was thirteen, I was graced by Firestorm's presence. Karasuba and I were looking for a blade of my own. I remember looking through the others, but didn't have any affinity towards them; that's when I found Firestorm and held her for the first time. Let me tell you, she felt right in my hands, as if she was made specifically for me. I took her back with me. Using her for the first time felt incredible, but I didn't know she was that powerful. I learned of her origins, which is why I know so much about Stormbringer. Her trial wasn't that bad, just survive an endless wave of enemies from my past for an hour straight."
"Wait a minute, whatever happened to your lightning?" Kochou asked.
"I never told Natsuo or the squad about my powers because when I came to Japan, they never went out of control. I just kept my emotions sealed and made sure my powers wouldn't surface. Like I said at the beginning, Firestorm does have lightning prowess, but she didn't grant me the use of it. Instead, her powers amplifies my own," Kai explained.
"Where is your sword?" Minato asked. Kai smiled at that question. He stretched out his arm beside him and narrowed his eyes.
"Girls, I suggest you move," he said. They accommodated and watched Kai summon lightning. He closed his eyes and visualized the sword he constructed. A bolt appeared in his hand and dispersed its light. He grasped the hilt of the blade and held it up so everyone could see.
"Here she is; beautiful isn't she?"
He removed the sword from its sheath and presented her silver blade.
"She's no longer a replica of Stormbringer. Now she has her own design and luster; and if you're wondering how I did this, it's actually not as complicated as you think. When I was still in a coma, I figured out I was in my subconscious. Whatever I thought became reality so when I woke up, I figured I could try the same thing somehow. The raging storm was the key to it, which is why I headed up to the roof when I woke up."
With another channel of lightning, Kai made the blade disappear.
"Thanks to the resurrection, I don't need to carry her around and can still communicate with her. Anyway, I loved using her, but I didn't know things would get out of hand. When I turned fifteen, I first unleashed her power. A group of past tormentors encountered me and tried to pull the same act as before, but I didn't allow it. Thing is, I didn't know when I blackout, but when I woke up, it was storming. Along with that, the smell of blood reeked through the air. I took one look down and saw three dead corpses on the ground, their blood oozing over the ground. I looked at my hands and saw them soaked in blood. After deriving a conclusion, I found out that I killed the guys who found me. And the worst part is; it wasn't even my intention to kill them. I just felt so angry that it consumed me again. I felt the same thing; I just wanted things to end. My cousin found me in the rain; I didn't have to say anything for him to know what happened, but he told me to use a practice sword until I could control the amplified power of my original. I had to give Firestorm up for four years; and she's been lonely ever since. After that, I just continued my training while studying to get into Tokyo U. That's when Minato, Yukari, and I were reunited once again. It was also the same day Uzume and I first met. I knew that after winging Akitsu, I would need Firestorm again; and I didn't waste any time retrieving her."
He let out a sigh.
"That's it, everything from my childhood up to now. You know my entire story."
No one had anything to say. He lay back down on his bed with his hands behind his head.
"Like I promised, I told you everything."
"Wow, that's some story," Jacob said. "Well I guess it's my turn to tell a story."
Focus went to Jacob, who gathered his thoughts.
"Okay, now before I begin, I'll tell you where I'm from. I am an alien known as a Licothian. I come from Planet Lykos. In a way, we're like sekirei, but we don't possess supernatural abilities as they do. I guess a better explanation would be a more advance Earth. Anyway, what I'm telling you is that I'm actually a clone of the original."
Only Kai was the calm one. Everyone else was astonished by the information. He only listened to the story and kept his eyes closed.
"You're a clone? Then where's the original?" Taki questioned.
"Back on my home planet. You see what happened was; I was in involved in an horrible accident that damaged my body beyond repair. Now the story begins when I was at work. I was in hot pursuit of a couple of criminals, who stole some Grade-A explosives. I was hot on their trail, but they had snipers lurking in the shadows. Even so, I managed to avoid them and followed the culprits to a warehouse, where they came up with a plan to blow up some of the core facilities at once. With a lot of cool action stuff happening, I brought the culprits to their knees and foiled their plans. However, when I sent the guys away, I was shot in the legs by an unknown sniper. That's not all, the person left a bomb behind, and I was caught in the explosion."
"That's terrible," Taki commented.
"Yeah, I somehow managed to survive the explosion, but like I said before, my body was beyond repair. I was barely alive; I thought for sure it would be the end of me. I felt my life wasting away, but luck was on my side that night. An old friend found me and made everything better. The friend is a guy named Dr. Sterns; he's an old friend of mine. He found me and took me to his laboratory. I honestly can't explain the process, but he used my genetic code to create perfect clones of me. With the same memories and skills, I can be reborn. All I have to do is give the Doctor a call and he'll send in another one. That's basically all I have to say on the matter," he finished.
"Wow, so anyone else have something to say?" Kochou asked. Takami looked at Minato.
"Minato, isn't there something you wish to say to say?"
He looked at her confused.
"Um, not really; I don't have any stories."
"Oh really? Then why don't you jog his memory, Kai?" Takami asked her other son, who looked down at the bed while the others watched.
"You know what I'm talking about don't you? You were always sharper than Minato and Yukari."
Kai continued to look down with the most serious face he's ever shown.
"Kai, what is mom talking about?" His younger sister asked. He didn't look up and responded.
"Minato, she wants to know what we talked about that day when we were nine."
Everyone faced the dragon ashikabi, who looked away with his own serious face.
"It's something I'd rather not say."
Takami nodded in understanding.
"How did you even know?" Minato asked.
"I overheard you two talking," she replied. Minato kept looking away.
"Wait a minute; what's going on here?" Yukari asked. "What's with all this secrecy? Kai, what did you two talk about?"
The lightning ashikabi didn't say a word.
"Kai?"
She looked at her blood brother, who didn't respond as well.
"There's no use hiding it; I already know what you two discussed," Takami said. Kai shook his head.
"I can't say."
"What do you mean? Why not?" Yukari questioned.
"It's not my place to say. Minato is the only one who can," he explained. She looked back at her other brother.
"Minato, tell me what you two discussed."
"You don't want to know," he said.
"Oh please, how bad can it be?" She asked. Kai simply shook his head.
"Go ahead Minato; you might as well tell her."
He bit his lip and continued to avoid eye contact.
"I wasn't always this confident in myself. Before I met Kai, I was actually timid and submissive. I was always stepped on and thought of myself as an inferior being. I was taught to be a nice and gentle person, but was instilled fear at the same time."
Tsukiumi tightened her fist at the statement.
"Who was the one who walked all over you? They had no right doing such to you; who are they?"
He let out a sigh.
"Why don't you ask them that yourself Tsukiumi? After all, they're the ones Kai and I call mom and sis."
Her world shattered, as her fellow sister members gasped.
"Y-You mean,"
"That's terrible," Kuruse interrupted. "How can you two call yourself his family if you're stepping all over him and making him feel inferior? You're his mother and sister; how can you just pick on your own brother and son. Teaching him to be kind and gentle my foot."
Minato held up his hand to stop her.
"It's okay Kuruse."
"No, it's not okay; how can you sit there and take that kind of punishment. They picked on you, made you fear them, made you feel inferior, so how can you say it's alright?" She questioned.
"Let him finish," Kai said. "It'll all become clear in a moment."
She didn't say anything else.
"Kai, when did you notice this?" Tsukiumi questioned. "If you've seen this, why didn't you do anything to stop them?"
She crossed her arms under her large chest and glared at the lightning user.
"Why do you let them pick on you like this? That's what I asked him."
"I told Kai that even if I stood up for myself, it wouldn't even change a thing. It wouldn't matter in the slightest. I told him how it made me mad, how it made me depressed that my own family saw me nothing more than an inferior and worthless being. That they thought of me as just a weak and useless son and brother, but I grew to despise them. I began to hate them. That's right, when I was younger, I hated my mom and sister; I despised them from the bottom of my heart. I hated both mom and Yukari all because they looked down on me and made me feel like I really was useless," Minato stated. Kai and Takami were the only ones not stunned. Everyone else was shocked massively; even Jacob was surprised by it. Yukari on the other hand, tried to put on a unfazed face, but she couldn't stop the tears that fell on her cheeks.
"Yukari?" Shiina said.
"So what? I don't care; I'm fine. I don't care that my own brother *sniff* hates me. I don't care in the *sniff sniff* slightest. Yes, I loved scaring him; I loved teasing him and walking down on him. I don't care that *sniff* he hates me now. I don't care."
More tears streamed down her cheeks, as she ran out the door crying. Shiina ran after her while the others stayed behind.
"I see. So you've spoke your true feelings," Takami said. She didn't say anything else and walked out the room.
"Minato, is that really true?" Musubi asked. He didn't respond.
"Kai?"
They looked towards him, but he didn't respond either. He hopped out of bed and headed to the door.
"Where are you going?" Uzume asked.
"I'm going to go talk to my little sister; when you're ready, come on up Minato," he replied. Minato nodded, and Kai headed out. As he walked to the roof, he walked past some of the nurses and smiled at them, causing them to blush at his charm. They bowed and watched him leave. When he opened the door the roof, he found Yukari leaning on the rail with Shiina beside her.
"Yukari," Kai called out. She flinched a little at his voice and turned her head, revealing her red eyes. He stepped closer and crossed his arms.
"How are you feeling?"
She looked back ahead of her.
"I don't want to talk about it."
He nodded in understanding.
"I understand that you're heartbroken, hearing how your brother feels; but you only have yourself to blame."
"How is it my fault? Minato should've just stood up for himself instead of taking it," she retorted.
"Yes, he should've; but do you honestly think he'd take up arms against him mother and sister. Do you actually think he would fight against his mom and sister?" Kai questioned. Her head shrunk lower into her arms.
"Is it really my fault? Does Minato really hate me? I mean I know I've been messing with him for a long time, but I didn't mean for it to turn out this way."
"Every action has a negative or positive consequence; you and mom's actions had a negative consequence," Kai said. His eyes shifted to Shiina.
"Your name is Shiina is that right?"
He nodded. "Yes, it's nice to meet you."
"Likewise, I haven't been told all the details, but I still have it figured out. You're sekirei no. 107, Shiina. You're mission is to find little Kusano, who is the exact opposite of you," Kai analyzed. He was surprised by the correctness of his observation.
"How did you know my number and task?"
"Your name means death, which is the exact opposite of Kusano's powers. While she makes plants and stuff grow, you wither it away. As for your number, that was just a lucky guess," he explained. Shiina nodded.
"That's amazing."
"Thank you, but I didn't just come here to check on my little sister. I came here to see about you," Kai told him. Shiina was confused, which didn't go unnoticed by Kai, who showed him his serious expression.
"Let me ask you something; how far are you willing to go for Yukari?"
Shiina couldn't respond immediately.
"Are you will go beyond the length for Yukari? Are you willing to risk your life for Yukari? Are you willing to die for Yukari?"
Kai waited for his response, as the ashikabi of the questioned sekirei turned to face the guys. Shiina nodded back.
"Yes, I'm willing do whatever it takes to make sure she stays safe."
Kai nodded as well. "I see. Then step forward."
He did as so and faced the lightning user.
"Tell me, how did you try to find Kusano?"
"We would question sekirei and ashikabis," he answered.
"I see. So you ambushed them and kicked them while they were down," Kai said.
"Well I guess that's another way of putting it," Shiina replied. Kai shook his head.
"Such a cowardly tactic, no wonder you've easily obtained the title Demon Ashikabi and Grim Reaper Sekirei."
The couple was surprised at his statement.
"How did you know about that?" Shiina asked.
"I've heard about your doings, mercilessly attacking opponent and ambushing them," he stated. "A normal person would be terrified of the name; however, I am not a normal person."
"What are you going to do?" Shiina asked. Kai didn't move from his spot.
"I'm going to see how strong you really are. A title is just a name; it doesn't matter to me one bit. While it might bring fear into your opponents, you should've known that those enemies were weak. They're a waste of time. I'm going to show you what a real opponent is like."
"Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't want to hurt you. As strong as you might be, you aren't a match for a sekirei," Shiina said. Kai held out a hand.
"Are you sure about that? If you are, then prove it to me."
He did the 'bring it' motion.
"Hit me with your best shot."
Shiina looked to Yukari.
"Yukari, what do you think?"
"If he thinks he can do it, then go ahead. Just be careful not to hurt him," she replied. He nodded back and made an orb of purple energy form in his hand.
"Are you ready?"
Kai simply nodded, as Shiina launched the orb at him. Kai continued to stand there until he let it get as close as can be.
"It's over, sorry Yukari," Shiina said. The orb closed in on Kai, but with a swift slap of his hand, he easily deflected the orb and sent it back to the originator, who was stunned at the moment. When he regained composure, he fired a rapid barrage that destroyed the first orb and sent more at the lightning user. Kai continued to stand in the same spot as he watched the orbs fly at him.
"Tch," he moved left and right at an incredible speed, making him look invisible. He effortless dodged the attack, seeing the surprised look on his sister and her sekirei's faces.
"Do you see it? I'm not like those other opponents you've faced up to now. I'm much stronger; and if you come at with me with such weak resolve, I will kill you."
They gasped at his response. Kai folded his arms again.
"Unless you want to die here, I suggest you give it all you've got."
Shiina blocked out his words and unleased another rapid blast, but Kai effortless dodged the attacks again, making his way to the Grim Reaper. Once he was directly in front of him, Kai grabbed Shiina's face and lifted him up with one hand. Shiina struggled to get free, but Kai had a death grip.
"Is that really all the danger Grim Reaper can do? I thought you were stronger than that, or were all those victories simply because you never fought opponents head to head?"
Kai started tightening his grip, making Shiina scream out in pain. Yukari was devastated; no words could make it out of her mouth. Her body was petrified.
"I thought there would be more to you, but it seems I was wrong. It seems that you're just a weakling after all. Those victories you've obtained are really from ambushing your opponents and taking them out while they're down; and here I thought sekirei were honorable. I thought sekirei fought their opponents with honor, not committing such cowardly acts such as ambushing opponents."
Kai tightened his grip even more, crushing Shiina's skull as he cried out more. Kai just ignored the screaming and dropped him to the floor. Shiina panted vigorously and held his head tight. Even though he was released, Yukari was still petrified. Tears started swelling up again and fell down her cheeks. Shiina looked up at Kai and saw the anger in his eyes. He felt his entire body shaking at the person hovering above him. Kai didn't say a word and began to step back.
"Stand up," he demanded. Shiina hesitantly got to his feet, but his entire being was trembling. He looked at his hands and saw them shaking. Kai saw his condition and continued to stare.
"Are you afraid? Does my power scare you? Do you now see that you're no match for me?"
The Grim Reaper looked up at the lightning user.
"There are strong opponents in this world. Attacking the wrong one will end in your demise."
Suddenly, there were two Kais.
"I am the first real opponent you've faced. What does that tell you? Does it make you fear me? Does it make you realize something? Or does it simply demonstrate that you're actually weak?"
The two split into four and suddenly vanished. The four reappeared around Shiina, but their blades were positioned in a square, trapping his head inside. He let out a sharp gasp as he felt the sharp ends of the blades touch his neck.
"Either way, it doesn't matter, because in the end you'll still die."
Shiina didn't move and started to breathe heavily. He could feel his pulse beating into his ears, which blocked out the other sounds except the ragged breathe he inhaled and released. He lost feelings in his hands, the two parts shaking in a trembling rhythm as the color of his face began to drain. His breathing became heavier.
Yukari was in the same condition; she was even more scared than before. The feelings in her legs became numb and made her fall to her knees. The tears she shed became stronger and a never-ending flow rolled down her face. Both she and Shiina saw the same thing.
"If you're the Grim Reaper, then I am the Devil," the four Kais closed their eyes and expanded the box, ultimately decapitating Shiina's head from his body. Yukari screamed her lungs out as Shiina's body dropped to the ground and blood spewed out from the opening. The head touched ground and rolled around, making the blood puddle out. Yukari continued to scream and held her head, tightly shutting her eyes.
When she opened them, she found Shiina with his head still attached to his body, but he was on his hands and knees, crying at the vision he just experienced. Kai was just a single being who stood in the exact same spot as before with the same look of anger. Yukari couldn't make eye contact with and crawled towards Shiina. The two hugged each other while tears continue to fall from their pupils.
Kai didn't say anything and headed to the door, but Minato soon came out and saw his sister and her sekirei on the ground crying. He looked at Kai and saw the rage in his eyes.
"Do you have anything to say?" Kai asked.
"No, I just came to see how she was doing," Minato replied. Kai nodded and walked with his brother.
"Where are my brothers?!" Yukari screamed. "What happened to the kind and gentle brother I used to know? What happened to the quiet and considerate brother I always played with?"
The two turned around to see their little sister.
"The timid and submissive brother you used to know is dead," Minato said. Kai walked to the couple and kneeled in front of them. They troubled more at his presence, but were surprised when he wrapped them in a tight hug.
"Listen to me; you two are important to me. Yukari, you're my little sister, and Shiina is now my brother due to his bond with you. Yukari; I've protected from just about anything when we were growing up and this is no different. All you have to do is call on me when things get too rough and I'll show up faster than you can blink. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you two so stop the tears. If there's anything you should be scared of, you should fear what I will do to anyone who hurts you. You guys are the Grim Reaper and Demon; I am the Devil. I won't let anyone hurt my subordinates, understand?"
Yukari gripped his clothes and buried her head in his chest. Kai rubbed their heads and let them go.
"This is not some kid's game; this is a fight to the death. Unless you know how to survive, you'll only wind up dead. Don't think someone won't be scared of some title because there are enemies who won't care about it. Shiina, do you know Karasuba of the Discipline Squad?"
He shuddered at her name and nodded.
"It was her and her ashikabi, whom is also my cousin, who trained me. Karasuba is the one sekirei who you never want to fight against; she won't just murder you Shiina; she may kill Yukari as well if she feels like it."
Kai left them stunned at the information and walked away with his brother. They soon saw their mother and standing in the hall close to the door.
"You overheard us?" Kai asked. She nodded to them.
"Kai, do you mind leaving Minato and I alone? We need to speak alone with Yukari."
"Okay," he accommodated. Kai left the two alone, as they headed back outside to Yukari and Shiina. Takami closed the door behind them, and Shiina guarded it to make sure no one could interrupt.
"Now Minato, care to tell us the question on your mind?" Takami asked. He nodded.
"Why did you two treat me that way?"
"If you hated it so much, why didn't you just say anything? Why did you just take everything? Why did you grow to hate me?" Yukari interrupted. Minato didn't respond and wrapped his sister in a tight embrace. She didn't hesitate in hugging him back and nuzzled his chest.
There were no words that needed to be spoken as the siblings continued to embrace one another. Takami soon joined in on the hug, as Shiina smiled at the family.
Kai entered his room and found his girls waiting for him.
"I'm back now."
"How did it go?" Kochou asked. He shrugged.
"I helped them realize the dangers of this game and that I won't tolerate cowardly actions. Though I probably scared them a lot more than I should have."
"Did you make things right?' Uzume asked. He nodded.
"Yeah, now Minato and mom and talking to her."
"Well it's great that you made things right with your family," Oriha replied. Kai just sighed and came up with an idea.
"Hey, I have something important to tell you; and I need you all to understand that this is entirely to help me get rid of my anger."
"Absolutely, whatever you have to do," Uzume responded. Kai rubbed the back of his head.
"When I explained my story, I said my cousin and I devised a plan to eradicate my anger. He thinks that if I release all of it, I'll be able to grow stronger; but here's the thing. There's somewhere I have to go in order to do that."
"You're asking if we're alright with you leaving to go there," Kochou said.
"Yes, I have to go there with him and most likely my uncle and auntie. Now I don't know how long it will take, but I can promise you that if I go there, I can eradicate my anger," he explained.
"Hmm, where is this place?" Uzume asked. Kai scratched his cheek.
"Back home, in California."
A/N: That does it for another chapter. I hope you all like it; especially now that you know Kai's entire past. I left no stone unturned this time; it was everything about Kai. I left out no detail. Do you think the nickname I gave him fits him? Please tell me what you think in a review or pm please. I have nothing else to say except thanks for reading. This has been MalevolentDarkness16 and Jacobthedarkone and we will see you all next time.
