Young
It was nearly midnight when Klaus heard the slam of the front door. He was sitting in his study in front of fireplace, sipping from a glass of bourbon as he watched the flickering flames.
He listened as familiar footsteps approached the room, followed by a feminine voice.
"I just wanted to tell you I'm back." Said Rebekah as she entered his study. She had just arrived back from her trip to Mystic Falls where she had spent a few days visiting with Matt.
"OK." He replied. Even though it was the only thing he said, she knew her brother well enough to recognize it as his way of saying,´Welcome home.´
Rebekah went to make her way out of the room but was stopped by the sound of Klaus's voice. "How.. How was the trip?" His eyes still on the fire.
She stopped, turned back and went to the armchair where he was sitting and perched on the armrest.
"It was great, Matt had a free weekend so we went to Whitmore to see his friends and have fun at parties." Rebekah wasn't stupid. She knew why Klaus had asked about her trip but she also knew that he would never admit why. Even with such a blasé reply, she could see his shoulders tense up when she mentioned Whitmore and Matt's friends.
Klaus took a sip from the glass and looked at his sister. "I guess you needed some fun."
"Yeah.." She got up and stood behind the armchair. She took a few seconds to gather her thoughts on how to say what she knew he needed to know.
"Caroline is OK." She finally said. "She's enjoying the single, college life with the doppelgänger and the Bennett witch."
Klaus exhaled and his tense posture disappeared. A few moments later he felt Rebekah's reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"You're doing right thing, Nik. Giving her space and time.. She is young and she wants to live her life for a while. Enjoy college, the parties, maybe some boy.. I'm sure she'll come to you, you just have to wait. One day your patience will pay off. It will be worth the wait."
They didn't always have the best relationship but they loved and cared about each other, and for now this was all that Rebekah could offer Klaus.
She pressed his shoulder and turned to the door.
Klaus closed his eyes and replayed in his head what Rebekah said. He was doing the right thing. He knew it. But it was nice to hear from somebody else.
When she was almost out off the room he inhaled and said, "Thanks, little sister."
Rebekah paused for a second, a smile spreading across her face before she left Klaus's study.
So this was the penultimate drabble.. I know there was no Klaroline but the Y- drabble was hard for me to write and this was the only good thing that came to my mind..
I´m not sure when I´ll update the last drabble because I have busy school days next week and this weekend is just about school too, but I ´ll try to do it as soon as possible.
See you next time!
