Hello once more, my Lunar Knights, and welcome to chapter 25 of Izaak's adventures. Today it is four in the morning and I'm tired as fuck, so you'll get a short AN... Granted, I tend to do ANs around three or four anyway, but whatever. So, yeah, we're here with this chapter, and it's honestly really good. And, like, if I'm saying that, then it's the actual shit. So, let's get to the review, and we'll get going.
Piscilllini: Well, it's nice to have you back, man. It's nice to see your name popping up in e-mails again. And, no, sadly Overwatch does not play on my laptop. I play on PS4... But, shit, the new character looks noice.
See. Review. I can count... Kinda... Maybe? Leggo!
Alone
I looked down at the Glaceon below me, watching as she took sips of the bottle of water I had dropped. My eyes scanned over the girl's body, and I sighed as I looked at her torso. I've been back here every day, and I can still see her ribs… I have to get her out of here soon. She can't stay here much longer… I floated to the ground after a few more moments, before a pink swirl surrounded me. After a few moments, it disappeared, leaving me standing in my Pokemorph form at the back of the empty factory, my eyes on the woods before me. I slipped my hoodie off and tied it around my waist, before starting into the trees silently. Realistically, though, I'm surprised she's even still alive at this point… It's been so long with her in there… I let out a quiet sigh in the Spring heat, the sounds of Pokemon chattering filling the rejuvenated forest now that it had returned to full life. A quiet chuckle escaped my lips as an Aipom bounced on tree branches above me, with two smaller ones following behind. Cel must be having the time of her life right now. I probably won't see her for another couple of months. Despite my current situation, a small smile crossed my lips at the thought of my friend bouncing and flying through the trees, a broad grin on her face. I continued through the woods in silence for a while, before I spotted my target through breaks in the canopy. I moved to the edge of the trees and hid myself behind one of the trunks to peer out at the building before me, my eyes on the figure on the roof.
P.O.V Change: Izaak
I took a sip of the black and green can in my hand, staring out at the sun setting over Cyleton.
"Arceus, that's always been such a stupid fucking name." I commented, shaking my head lightly. "Isn't it?"
The only answer was the sounds of the forests.
"Lovely opinion there, friend." I said, before tapping on the roof next to me. "However, if you're going to be up here, you might as well sit down."
There was nothing for a few moments, before a soft voice replied, "How did you know I was here?"
"Lucky guess, I suppose." I answered. "Now, c'mon. Join me as I gaze out to the wild while trying not to go fucking crazy."
I heard the sound of footsteps behind me, before the small Umbreon dropped down next to me, his legs dangling off the roof with mine.
"You really like to spend a lot of time up here." He commented, as I sat my can of Monster down next to me.
"I suppose so." I answered, digging into the pocket of my skinny jeans. I pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, before adding, "It's a good place to think. Nice and quiet."
"I guess it is." He agreed, as I slid a cigarette out and grabbed it in my mouth. I offered one to him, but he just said, "No thanks. I don't mess with that stuff."
"Suit yourself." I responded around the stick of tobacco, before lighting the paper. I placed the two objects next to my drink, adding, "Realistically, that's probably for the best. Shit'll kill you. These, and alcohol." I took a drag off the cigarette and blew the smoke away from us, before saying, "If it bothers you, though, I can stop while you're up here."
"No, it's fine." He told me, shaking his head. "We're outside, so it's not bothering me."
I nodded, and took a drink from the can. After that, we sat in silence, the only sound coming from the woods.
After a few minutes, I asked, "So, what did you want?"
"W-What do you mean?" Sylva replied. "Can't I just want to come up here and sit with you?"
"Oh, you could." I answered, shrugging. "However, you also could have just as easily have been sent up here. After all, everyone in the house knows that you are the only person here that I could never get pissed at."
The Umbreon tensed up next to me, before letting out a sigh and saying, "Alright, fine. Rell and Midnight sent me up here. We're worried about you, Izaak. You've been acting oddly recently, and Eve says that you haven't been sleeping much lately."
"Not in three days, really." I told him. "Not too big of a deal."
"What do you mean, not a big deal?" He retorted. "Izaak, you need to sleep. It isn't healthy." I simply shrugged in response, prompting the Eeveelution to let out a sigh, before saying, "Listen, Izaak… I know it's hard for you, but you need to let it go. Trust me, it's hard for all of us, especially Midnight, but it's been three months, man. You know that we had to stop searching."
"Easy for you to fucking say." I snorted out. "Unlike some of us, I can't just go and fucking almost kill the guy."
"Okay, that was one time, and it was an accident!" He retorted. "You know that I was scared!" He took a moment to calm his voice, while I dug my nails into my palms, before continuing, "But, please, it's been so long. We all miss her, trust me. But we also can't stand to see you like this. We had a meeting last night, and we all think that it'd be healthy for you to just accept that-"
"Finish that fucking sentence, and you'll be breathing through a fucking straw." I cut him off. "Do not even fucking try to fucking say that around me."
Sylva froze for a moment, before saying, "Izaak, you need to accept it. Midnight already has, despite not wanting to. We all have just. Just-"
"Shut the fuck up!" I exploded, dropping my cigarette on the roof as I leapt up. "Shut the fuck up, for fuck's sake!" The blind Umbreon recoiled at my voice as I glared at him, before continuing, "You are all fucking wrong, damn it! She isn't fucking gone! I won't fucking accept any bullshit motherfucking lies!"
"Please, just calm down." The Umbreon said quietly. "I… I just want to talk to you…"
"I will not fucking calm the fuck down!" I retorted, feeling blood start to gather on the fur on my palms. "She's not fucking gone! I know she isn't! I can't explain why, but she isn't!"
"I-Izaak, please." He responded in an even quieter voice, physically cowering from me. "We've all dealt with loss, but-"
"Fucking loss!" I cut him off again. "Trust me, no one's dealt with more fucking loss than me, motherfucker! I've had to go to the funeral of every single fucking family member I've ever fucking had! Cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents! It doesn't fucking matter! Every fucking one! I watched my parents die right in fucking front of me, and I couldn't do fucking shit! Because I can't fucking do a thing to fight this! The only members of my fucking family are April and I, and now even she won't fucking talk to me! We haven't fucking spoken in fucking months!" I hissed slightly as crimson dripped from my palms, but I pressed on despite it, continuing, "And now all of you are treating me like a fucking alien! You fucking barely fucking talk to me, you avoid fucking looking at me! You all are treating me like shit, and I'm fucking done with all of you! Now, fuck the hell off!"
There was silence for a few moments, the forest even falling silent, before Sylva climbed to his feet. He wordlessly started for the hatch, his head down. I turned to face the city as I heard the hatch open.
"Hey, Izaak." The Umbreon suddenly said. "I'm sorry… I'm sorry for trying to be your friend."
With that, I heard him drop down through the roof, and close the hatch. After a few seconds, I let out a sigh as I pried my nails from my palms, gasping as more blood dripped out. I dropped back down to sit on the roof, before grabbing my Monster and finishing it off.
"Did you like the show, asshole?" I asked, my eyes staring straight ahead. "You waited days for one, and you finally got it."
My eyes flicked over to the dark woods to the left of the dirt road in, falling on a pair of blue orbs staring back. I wordlessly held my right hand up and flipped them off, causing them to disappear. I kept my eyes on the spot for a few more seconds, before letting out a sigh and moving my gaze to the blackening sky.
I sat for a few moments, before saying aloud, "I'm going for a fucking drive."
I grabbed my pack of cigarettes and the lighter and stuffed them into my pocket, before leaping off the roof. I landed on my feet cleanly, having done that many times, and started for the woods to the right of the road.
P.O.V Change: ?
I felt my heart speed up as the figure on the roof flipped me the bird, quickly moving back behind the tree. Shit, he saw me. How long has he known I've been spying on him? I glanced out again, only to see the black and white furred Pokemorph walking across the yard, heading towards a different part of the woods. I closed my eyes and sank to the forest floor as I fought to calm myself, my breath quick.
"Well?" A voice spoke, causing me to freeze. "Did you enjoy it?" I opened my eyes and looked up, only to see a familiar figure stand before me as she added, "After all, you've been watching him for a while. You must have been waiting for something."
I let out a sigh at the woman, puffing out, "Fuck, Arceus. You scared the hell out of me."
"I know." She replied. "And I'm sure that Izaak would do much more to you."
"I-Izaak?" I asked, slowly rising to my feet. "Is that that guy's name?"
Arceus rolled her eyes to me, telling me, "Yes, Mew, his name is Izaak. And the other one, the blind one, is Sylva."
I hesitated a moment, before asking, "Why does he look like that? Y'know, with one half white and one black?"
"Simply put, he is not natural." She answered me, her eyes on the house behind me. "He is both an Umbreon and an Absol."
"Seriously?" I asked, both shocked and intrigued. "How?"
The Legend let out a sigh, before telling me, "You know one reason. But it would have happened inevitably. Greed is a very powerful motivator, my dear Mew, even for those actions which violate both legal code, as well as moral. War is a human inevitability, and everyone is always trying to get the upper hand. And what better way than genetically engineered super soldiers?"
"S-Seriously?" I repeated. "So he's a science experiment?"
"Indeed he is." Arceus answered. "Very little was done to him, save for that change. He does have increased strength and power, even for a Pokemorph, but it only rivals that of Pokemon."
"So, he's technically an artificial freak of nature." I commented, my eyes moving to the house, as well. "A Pokemorph with the strength of a Pokemon. I suppose that he is special, then."
"Yes, he is." She told me. "He is that, and so much more. He's a broken individual. But you can help fix him. After all, you've spent weeks here."
I let out a sigh, my eyes to the ground as I said, "So, I guess that you do know." I hesitated a moment, before continuing, "I want to tell him, I really do, but… We both know the dangers of it."
"Yes, we do." She agreed. "But he needs to know. We may have sworn to not intervene with mortals, but it sometimes must happen."
"Y-Yeah, I know." I sighed out. "I… I'll tell him soon, okay?"
... Almost there...
