Olivia's POV
As she waited for the nurse to bring her back a fresh change of clothes, Olivia sat down on the hospital bed, her hands on her lap, her gazed fixed at nothing in particular.
Her mind was still struggling with the events of the past few hours. Finding out Jake was spying on her, Jake attacking her, finding out Fitz was the one having her watched, his declaration of love, and her subsequent rejection. It was too much for just a few short hours and did nothing to help the major headache from her injury.
She was interrupted from her thoughts by the door opening. When she saw it was Fitz, she cleared her throat, steadying herself for the battle that was sure to come. She needed to be firm. She couldn't let him into her life again. The pain of his rejection was still too vivid, she wouldn't take the risk of feeling that way again.
"The nurse says you can wear these home." Fitz declared, throwing a few clothes on the bed.
"You can go." She answered coldly as she picked up the clothes, not yet daring look at him in the eyes.
"You don't dismiss me." He rebuked.
"I don't want to talk to you." She interrupted, holding her chin up and fixing a cold glare on him. "I'm never gonna be ready to talk to you." She needed to get rid of him and fast. Just having him so close to her was weakening her resolve. "So why don't you just..."
"I love you." He interrupted her, his voice warm like it once was, before everything went to hell.
"Stop saying that." If he kept repeating those words she would start believing them and then, it would be too hard to give up on him. "You're having me followed, watched. There are cameras in my apartment. That's not love." She stood up from the bed, trying to put some distance between them.
She was starting to get angry. Who did he think he was? Being the president didn't give him the right to invade her privacy that way.
"You have to understand." He answered calmly, too calmly for a man who should be feeling at least a little guilt over his actions. He didn't seem to care that she felt violated by his actions and that only served to upset her more. She took a step back toward him, daring him to explain. "Defiance changed everything for me. Everything."
"You think it didn't change me?" Her anger was audible in her voice. How could he not understand how hard it was for her? "You think it was easy? Simple? I went against everything I believed in. For you. I did that for you. Everything was for you. And... You walked away." Her voice broke, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. "You didn't even let me explain." She walked away from him before she broke down in front of him. She wouldn't break. She had to be strong, or at least, to appear strong, of only for just a few more minutes.
"I thought you believed in me." He sounded disappointed. "I thought you thought I was good enough. I thought... I thought you saw me."
"I did see you." She answered, trying to keep her voice even. "I do see you."
"No you didn't. You don't." His voice was now laced with anger and frustration. «I wanted to win this on my own. I wanted to win it because I deserved it." He started walking towards her, his confident stride weakening her resolve. , I wanted to win it because I had the will of the people behind me. I wanted to own becoming President of the United States of America." He was now in her space, his face inches from hers, anger radiating from every pore. "I didn't want it handed to me. I didn't want you fixing it for me." She opened her mouth to reply but he continued on. "That's what you do, Livvie, you handle, you fix."
"I was trying to help." She attempted to defend her actions as she once again walked away from him. He was too close, she couldn't think clearly.
"You don't fix me!" He exclaimed, his voice gravelly from his anger, causing her to turn around in shock. "You don't handle me! That? Is not love. That's control. I asked you to be a team." He continued, his voice calmer. "We should have been a team. It should have been you and me." Once again, he walked to her, closing the gap between them. "And instead it was you and Verna and Cyrus and Hollis and Mellie. I am angry that you fixed the election but I am even angrier that you thought you could fix me." He was again right in her face.
She lowered her gaze and stared behind him. "You're angry." She nodded. "So, why are you here?" She looked at his shirt, determined not to gaze into his eyes
"I'm here because I love you." His voice betrayed his frustration at her not accepting it.
"And how does that change anything that has happened?" She exclaimed. It was her turn to be angry and frustrated. She obviously destroyed his trust in her. Why did he insist on telling her that? "What's the point?"
"Do you still love me?" He asked simply, like he hadn't spent the past five minutes telling her all that was wrong with her actions. "Do you? Still love me?"
She broke eye contact with him, unable to stand the intensity of his gaze and all the emotions she could see in there. "Does it matter?" She asked. It was an attempt at avoiding to answer but even she heard the weakness of her tone and how obvious she was.
"It matters." He answered softly. "Do you still love me? It's a yes or no question." He wasn't giving her any room to dodge the question.
She looked away, hoping to find an escape, hoping to find a way to be strong and push him away, hoping to find the strength to lie.
"Olivia?" Her name on his lips was her undoing. She could not lie to him, not when it came to them and their love.
"I do." She nodded and watched as relief washed his features. "But I can't do this anymore." She continued and once again walked away. It was her pattern, she knew it, he knew it but she needed the space to be strong and keep her resolve.
"Wait, wait..." Fitz tried.
"Fitz." She said, ready to ask him to leave.
"Just wait. One minute." The words stopped her in her tracks. 'One minute'... How could two words hold so much power over her? How could he break down her walls just by asking her for 60 seconds? Most people couldn't affect her even if they tried for years but he could touch her in just 'one minute'.
"This past year I have learned only one thing. That I cannot exist without you, that I cannot breathe without you, that the man I am without you…" she heard his steps approaching but she didn't dare move, she couldn't move. "I'm nothing. I'm nothing, and you are everything and I need you to give me another chance." His voice was hoarse with emotion. She could only guess the pain that must be written on his face. "I demand another chance." He was towering just over her, his breath caressing her ear. "We're worth another chance." His nose was in her hair and she could feel him against her back.
Were they worth it? When you took out everything and everyone that wasn't them, were they worth it? Were they worth the pain and the fight? Were they worth the tears and the screams? Only one answer came to mind.
She twirled around and threw her arms around his neck, connecting their lips in a desperate kiss. Their tears mixed together as their lips started the all too familiar dance, the salty taste only igniting the passion. She couldn't seem to get close enough. She hugged him to her, her hands going straight for his hair.
"You hurt me." She whispered in a croaked voice as he kissed her neck reverently.
"I'm so sorry." He replied in the same tone, reuniting their lips. They kissed like it was the last time until Olivia realized it needed to be the last time.
"No... No." She pulled away and looked at him, his beautiful face filled with confusion and pain. "I can't." She shook her head. "I just... I can't." She turned around and rushed to the bathroom, closing the door behind her, unable to watch him leave.
Fitz' POV
Fitz stared at the door for long minutes, his brain seemingly unable to grasp the reality of what just happened. One minute she was back in his arms, where she rightfully belonged and the next she was pushing him away, telling him she couldn't. She couldn't what? Kiss him? Love him? Be with him?
After finally giving in to what he knew were her true feelings, she once again ran away from him from them. The Pattern happened again. He confessed his love, she responded to him and then she got scared and ran away. Like she did every time.
Well not this time! He decided, his jaw clenching with resolve.
He went to the door and locked it before taking the five steps back to the bathroom door and knocked softly. "Olivia, open the door." He asked calmly but resolutely.
"Go away." Came her sob from the other side.
"No." He answered simply. "Open the door."
"Fitz, leave me alone. I can't... Please... Leave me be..."
The pain in her voice, the hiccups, the sobs, it was almost too much to bear. He grabbed the door knob and shook it before knocking on the door with more strength. "Olivia, open this door. Please. We need to talk."
"I don't want to talk... I don't want to see you... I don't want to lo-... Please... It hurts too much..." Her voice sounded smaller with every word and he was starting to grow worried.
"Olivia." He started again, panic evident in his voice. "If you don't open this door, I swear to God I will break it down."
He heard the click of the lock and opened it quickly. He looked down and found Olivia prostrated on the floor in a fetal position, her face stained with tears.
He fell to his knees and gathered her in his arms. He sat down and leaned against the wall as he cradled Olivia and rocked her soothingly, kissing her hair.
They stayed on the floor for long minutes, neither talking. They simply held each other, Olivia's face buried in Fitz neck and his face buried in her hair. Fitz finally got the strength to talk. Without moving his head, he started whispering.
"I know why you walked away. I know why you think you can't do this with me again. I understand Livvie. This is all my fault."
Olivia raised her head to look at him, a frown of confusion on her face. He smiled weakly at her.
"You think I will let you go away. Or more exactly, you think I will throw you away again like I did at Verna's funeral. You think I will leave you all alone again.
You think that I will never choose you. That when I reach a crossroad, I will choose my presidency, or Mellie, or Cyrus...
And you think that if you get too attached to me, if you let me in and I make that choice, it will destroy you. Like it almost did after I learned about Defiance."
Olivia lowered her gaze, unable to deny the truth in his words, unable to bear the tenderness in his eyes as he exposed her vulnerability. He moved a finger under her chin and forced her to look back at him.
"I can't make you believe that I will never put you through that pain again. All I can do is tell you that you are everything to me. That this past year without you has been absolute hell. That I am only a shadow of a man without you, without your advice, without your warmth, without your love. I love you, Livvie and I want to be with you... Unless you don't want me."
Olivia looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears. She looked into his eyes, as if trying to read his thoughts, his soul. The few seconds where she just watches him seemed like hours to him until, suddenly, she lunged at him and kissed him with all her strength. She attacked his lips, kissing, biting and sucking the soft flesh. She felt like heaven.
Once the initial shock passed, Fitz answered to the kiss with the same hunger and desperation. He moved one hand to her hair and the other to her thigh and kissed her with abandon. He played with her tongue, as his hands moved from her thigh to her ass and her exposed back.
Frustrated by the limited opportunities their position offered, Fitz stood up with Olivia in his arms and carried her to the bed. He laid her down and wasted no time ridding her of her awful hospital robe. He laid down on top of her, covering her body with his, sharing his warmth and igniting her skin.
He kissed her for a little while longer before moving his face down her body. Olivia's hands remained attached to his hair while he kissed his way done, worshipping every inch of skin.
He kissed her breasts, then moved to her sides, his short stubble tickling the sensitive skin over her ribs. He kissed her flat stomach, his tongue dancing around her navel as he bit and marked the soft, warm skin he found there.
He moved lower and stopped when his face was over her core. He released a sigh of contentment at the sight of her glistening lips. For a minute, he just stared, neither touching nor kissing, simply staring.
After a moment, Olivia started squirming, clearly uncomfortable. He looked up at her, a lopsided grin on his face and moved one hand to her stomach, holding her in place. He moved the other hand over her core, ghosting his fingers between her lower lips, watching as she gasped and bit her lip. He added more pressure and closed his eyes when he heard her moan. Oh, how he'd missed those moans!
He started rubbing circles over her clit and had to add more pressure on her stomach to hold her in place as she started bucking up on the bed in pleasure. He could smell her arousal and it only egged him on. He moved his fingers from her clit to her entrance and ever so slowly moved 2 fingers inside her, groaning when her nails raked his scalp.
Unable to resist anymore, he moved his mouth to her bundle of nerves and closed his lips over her pearl moaning in ecstasy as her feminine taste delighted his taste buds. He moved his fingers in and out of her as his tongue and lips played her clit like a well strummed instrument.
Olivia thrashed around on the bed, moaning and mewling. "Fitz... Please..." She tried to push his head away. "I want you. I can't wait..." She breathed out.
"Not yet." He growled against her nether lips. "I want to play. I missed this too much."
He increased the pace of his fingers and bit on her clit softly, sending her over the edge. He felt her juices pouring out and it only served to feed his hunger. He doubled his efforts, devouring her sensitive flesh, sending her into another spiral that had her gasping his name.
Determined to leave an impression, he pulled his fingers out and moved his mouth to her entrance. He moved his hands to her backside and pulled her closer to him. He pierced her entrance with his tongue repeatedly until she started twisting her body in ways that had him worried she would hurt herself. He moved his thumb to her bundle of nerves and, with just a few flicks, had her coming for the third time in just a few minutes. She screamed out his name before falling limp on the bed.
Fitz licked his lips and kissed the apex of her thighs a few times before making his way back up her body. He kissed her, wanting her to taste herself before pulling away and staring at her adoringly.
"You're wearing too much clothes." She breathed out.
"Are you... I mean, can you?" He asked, unsure if she should over exert herself after her accident. Although, it might be a little late to think about that.
"I'm fine." She reassured him with a smile. "What would really hurt me right now would be you leaving me hanging after that wonderful prelude." She teased and kissed his neck.
Fitz growled and rid himself of his clothes in a flash. Once he was naked, he settled back between her legs, his painfully erect member nestled between her warm lips. They both moaned at the feeling and he grinded his hips to add more friction.
He locked eyes with her and slowly moved his tip to her entrance. He didn't allow their gazes to disconnect as he entered her slowly. Their mouths were gaping, an inch away, their noses touching.
Fitz moved up one knee, pushing her leg up in the process and moved as deep as he could inside of her. Once he was fully seated, Olivia couldn't help closing her eyes in ecstasy. Fitz kissed her closed eyelids reverently and started moving in and out of her slowly, relishing every second in paradise.
After a while, Olivia started responding to his thrusts, eager to feel more friction. He tucked her knee in the crook of his elbow, spreading her legs further apart and increased his pace.
"Look at me..." He croaked.
"Fitz... Please... More..." She begged.
He slowed his rhythm to get her attention. "Livvie... Baby, look at me."
It took her a few seconds to open her eyes and when she did, Fitz smiled his crooked grin at her and surged into her suddenly, causing her to scream out and dig her nails in his biceps. He groaned as he picked up the pace, determined not to stop until he took them both to ecstasy.
"Fitz... Aaaah... I... So good... So close..." Olivia stammered.
Fitz felt a wicked pride in taking her words away from her. He attached his mouth to her neck and sucked on the tasty flesh as he felt his orgasm nearing. Based on her short gasps and the way she hung onto him, he knew she was close too.
Circling his lips, he surged into her a few more times, making sure to hit her spot. She came harder than ever before, her walls closing around his shaft so tightly he thought he would pass out from the feeling. He jerked into her a few more times before collapsing on her side, his head resting on her bosom.
They stayed in their embrace for a few moments, catching their breaths and savoring their reunion.
"What do you say I take you to your place so we can take a long bath and spend the night?" He asked after a while, his fingers caressing her side.
"I wish I could but need to get back to OPA." She answered kissing the top of his head. "There's a problem with Huck. He needs me."
"Okay, I'll have an agent take you to him. Is there anything I can do?"
"I want Jake Ballard gone." She said firmly.
Fitz grabbed his phone from his pants on the floor and dialed a number. "Tell Captain Ballard his services are no longer required." He hung up and threw the phone back on the floor. "Done." He smiled as he played with her curls. "What else do you need?"
"Only you." She smiled as she brought his face to hers and kissed him softly and lovingly. There was no rush or desperation anymore, only love and hope. Even though they needed to separate for a while, they knew they had found their way back to one another, where they belonged.
