This one got away from me a little, I hope you like how it turned out nonetheless.
Everything that could go wrong was going wrong. Harvey was sitting at a dinner table in the middle of his office, Mike beside him looking broken, while the Michelson's sat across the table angry and judging. All around his office were glass walls with everybody he knew standing on the other side, glaring at him, at what he was doing to Mike.
Not in the least bit of control he heard himself as he said horrible, untrue things. He could see Donna start to cry in anger as he told Mike, "You are everything that's wrong with my life, you ruin everything you touch." He saw his father turn his back on him from disappointment as he continued in a hateful voice, "Why don't you just get out of my life Mike, for good." As he watched Mike's face contort in pain he could see Mike's Grammy behind him, slamming fists on the glass wall as she cursed at Harvey, as she called him the worst names he had ever heard, but still words kept falling from his lips, and every time Mike looked more sad, looked like he was in more pain, until finally something seemed to snap in the younger man.
In a flash Mike's face went blank. There was no sign of his previous turmoil; there was no sign of anything. Finally Harvey was able to shut himself up as Mike stood slowly, calmly, and walked toward the only door in the room. As he neared it Harvey could see all the people outside rushing toward the door, an angry mob that would soon have a way in. As Mike put his hand on the lock Harvey found himself beside Mike and quickly reached out a hand to stop him. Pleading, he told Mike, "You can't let them in Mike, please, you can't. If you let them in they'll kill me."
Looking unaffected by his words Mike simply asked, "So?" Harvey felt the words like a slap to the face. Mike went to turn the lock again but this time Harvey actually grabbed his hand, Mike quickly pulled it away though, this time fear flashing through his eyes. In a frightened tone Mike begged, "Please don't hurt me, I'll do anything, just please don't hurt me." Flinching back at the fear, Harvey thought he imagined it as Mike's face once more went blank and he put his hand back on the lock.
Once again Harvey found his mouth moving without his permission as he now tried to charm Mike into backing away from the door. "Come on Mike, do you really want to do that, do you really want to hurt me? I could make it worth your while if you just take a step back." Not able to control it, or stop it, Harvey's hand reached out to Mike, started to rub up and down his arm, and as he took a step closer the look from that night weeks ago came back to Mike's eyes. Harvey was screaming in his head for his body to stop as he heard a bone chilling laugh fall from his own lips.
Mike was crying, pleading for him to stop as he took step after step backward, but Harvey matched each one. Soon Mike was backed up into the corner of his cubical, which was sitting in the far corner, as Harvey was still pushing closer. He was as close to Mike as he could get as the terrified blond softly and brokenly said to himself, "I'm too weak, I can't stop this." The look in the younger man's eyes terrified him as he finally seemed to get control over his body again but before he could move, before he could make a sound, he was being pulled back and thrown to the ground, a pissed off Aaron standing over him, a murderous look in his eyes. Across the room he could also see Spencer as he unlocked the door letting a horde of angry people through the office door.
As everyone he knew circled and glared down at him he found himself trapped. He could no longer see Mike as he tensed up for the pain he thought was about to come, closing his eyes tight, but after a few moments of nothing he opened them again. Instead of the pain he was expecting he got far worse. Donna started it off as she hissed out through clenched teeth, "You're the reason his whole life is a lie."
Rachel was the next to go as she yelled through angry tears, "You're the reason why he had to lie to me, why I had to break his heart!" Person after person told him how he was ruining Mike's life, how he was hurting him.
Louis was snarling as he yelled out, "Why did you take him back if all you were going to do was this to him? I could have made him into a great lawyer, an amazing one; the best anyone has ever seen!"
Jessica didn't even say anything, she didn't need to. She just gave him a look and in it all the blame was there, all the disappointment, the judgement, the hatred; it was more than he could take from his mentor.
To his surprise Trevor was right there as well to grit out, "You're the reason he lost his oldest, best friend, the person who was there for him when his parents died; the person that protected him from people like you."
Suddenly, a faceless couple was standing over him, everyone else taking a couple steps back, the woman sobbing as the man cried out, "You're the reason our son won't make it!" The woman sobbed beside him as she brokenly whispered, "You'll be the reason he dies too soon."
Harvey became aware of the tears streaming down his face as the mob parted. Sitting up on his elbows Harvey was able to see Mike again as he stood back at the door, only this time it didn't lead into a hallway, it lead nowhere. As Mike opened the door and took a step through Harvey tried yelling, tried to warn him, but all that came out was a faint and raspy, "Mike, no, you can't, you'll fall. You'll die."
Somehow though, Mike still heard him, because he looked back with a sad smile as told Harvey, "I know", before he took one more step, disappearing from view. Just like that everyone else was gone and Harvey was left alone in his giant office, sobbing as he crawled to the door, to the edge Mike had stepped off.
Just as Harvey stood up sobbing, ready to take that step himself, to follow Mike, the man himself was back, standing behind him with a hand on his shoulder, holding him back. As Harvey turned to look at him the younger man began to soothingly tell him, "It's okay Harvey, everything okay, you're fine, you're okay."
Instantly Harvey began to protest, telling Mike, "It's not okay, Mike. I don't want to hurt you, I can't, I won't be able to handle that, please," He was openly crying again as he choked out, "I can't be the reason you die."
Mike only smiled at him as he pulled the older man into a tight hug, whispering in his ear, "Everything's going to be okay." Harvey started to calm down as he felt Mike's hand rubbing soothing circles on his back. He fully relaxed into Mike's surprisingly strong arms as the man further whispered, "I love you, Harvey." The last thing he was aware of was the feeling of Mike's lips on his temple before being dragged down into nothingness.
SUITSTIUS
Waking with a start Mike looked around the dark room that wasn't his but Harvey's, a sense of panic that he had no clue as to why he felt. Slowly he became aware of the warm body next to his. Like a wave crashing over his head he remembered the night before. Just as the embarrassment started to sink in though he realized where the panic he was feeling was coming from, for beside him Harvey was clearly having a nightmare as he tossed his head back and forth on the pillow, pain written across his face, tears falling from closed eyes. As he started muttering incoherently, clearly distressed, Mike knew he had to do something.
Changing their positions Mike pulled a still sleeping Harvey into his arms, murmuring comforting nothings, and when Harvey seemed to be getting more agitated he just pulled him closer, rubbing circles on his back, as he murmured into his ear, "Everything's going to be okay." Eventually, Harvey started to still and his face relaxed a little. Mike let out a relieved sigh, pulling the older man closer into him as he kissed his temple and whispered, "I love you, Harvey." Just like that the older man stilled completely, his face smoothing out, relaxing into Mike's arms. Finally, Mike let himself relax, intent on getting a few more hours of sleep, after all, it was Saturday; however, it seemed Harvey had other ideas, for just as Mike closed his eyes he felt Harvey start to stir in his arms.
SUITSTIUS
Almost instantly Harvey was aware of the warm feeling of Mike's body holding him. In a sleepy haze he snuggled closer, content to be where he was, letting a soft smile overtake his face. He only really came back to reality as he felt Mike's hand retreat from his back and the younger man shift his weight slightly. Just like that everything came back to Harvey; the night before, his nightmare, all the reasons he had been keeping space between Mike and him. Harvey tried to pull back, panicking, to try and give Mike back his space, but the younger man only tightened his grip, holding him where he was.
Quietly, Mike started whispering comforts again. "It's okay Harvey, calm down, everything's okay." Harvey felt himself relaxing as Mike began rubbing soothing circles on his back again. After a few moments Mike asked, "Are you okay?"
Feeling embarrassed Harvey couldn't make himself look up at Mike, but trying to keep his voice steady, he answered, "Ya, I'm fine, it's nothing."
Mike wasn't taking it though as he softly said, "Bullshit, Harvey, somethings clearly wrong."
Remembering the nightmare Harvey went for the partial truth as he said, "I just had a nightmare, that's all."
Hearing Mike scoff, Harvey finally looked up, only to see the man looking at him with a look of concern and doubt. "I know you had a nightmare Harvey, I also know that it's not the reason you just started to panic, so talk to me."
With a tired sigh Harvey looked away from Mike as he told him, "I can't Mike, not about this." When Mike said nothing, only continued to look down at him with concerned and now confused eyes, Harvey felt his mind wandering back to all the things that had been said to him in his dream. This time he didn't give Mike a chance to stop him as he bolted up and off the bed. Before Mike knew what was happening Harvey was pacing back and forth at the foot of his bed, muttering to himself, clearly distressed.
As Harvey paced Mike tried to catch up to what was going on. The more agitated Harvey became the more Mike began to panic. When the only three words that Mike was able to pick out were 'love', 'can't' and 'wrong' Mike's brain filled in the blanks with the worst case scenario. Thinking Harvey must have woken up earlier than he thought, when Mike had whispered his love confession only to then kiss the man while unconscious, he thought Harvey was freaking out because of what he had said and done, and instantly he felt his stomach churn.
Harvey looked toward Mike just in time to see him go completely pail before he jumped up from the bed and ran for the bathroom. Forgetting his own freak out for a moment he ran after Mike, getting to the bathroom just as Mike emptied his stomach. Kneeling beside Mike, Harvey mimicked the soothing gesture of rubbing slow circles onto Mike's back. After a minute, when Mike was confident he was done, they both wound up leaning against the bathroom wall. Worried, Harvey asked, "Are you okay, Mike?"
Leaning his head back on the wall, eyes closed, Mike quietly pleaded, "Harvey, can you just forget it, forget everything that just happened, please?"
Thinking Mike was just embarrassed about being sick Harvey softly agreed, "Sure, Mike. It's forgotten." Mike seemed to relax so Harvey stood up, offering Mike his hand as he added, "Why don't you get a little more sleep?"
Suddenly feeling exhausted Mike agreed. He was disappointed but not surprised when Harvey didn't get back into the bed with him. The next time he woke up it was to the smell of breakfast.
