Quinn took a deep breath as the great mahogany door opened before her. Rachel knew better than to call upon Quinn like a common vampire, but in saying that… Rachel would not call upon her for some silly reason. Quinn was slightly concerned by the messenger, which hardly gave her any details on what to expect during this meeting.

"Ms. Fabray" An elderly, yet handsome man greeted with unwavering respect.

The punishment had done nothing to lower Quinn's status within the community, if anything, it had elevated her in the eyes of it. Not because of the violation itself but because of the way she had taken the punishment; the way she had protected her family. Many knew that Quinn would not turn a vampire so easily unless a sufficient reason was given, which in turn made Santana famous.

"Henry" Quinn greeted, nodding her head courteously. "I hope you are well"

Henry nodded his head slightly before casting Quinn a small smile.

"I'm never one to complain Ms. Fabray, not aloud atleast. It wouldn't be wise with my Mistress' finely tuned ears"

Quinn couldn't help but smile at his statement. It was a rarity for Quinn to actually converse with humans, but Henry was a descendant within a human lineage which swore to swerve and protect Shelby's house. His family held great regard within the Vampire community as well as within the Council.

"You make me sound like a monster Henry" Rachel's voice interrupted.

"Well… Technical you are Ms. Berry. You're just good at hiding it" Henry replied

A slight chuckle erupted from Quinn's lips as she turned her eyes to Rachel who was walking down the stairs gracefully.

Rachel bore her fangs slightly before a smile grazed her lips. Henry was lucky that Rachel the same high regard for a human's life as her mother once had. They always had a soft spot for the human servants, because emotions over ruled their nature.

Henry took his leave gracefully once Rachel took the last step down the stairs. Rachel's smile disappeared once she turned her full attention to Quinn, who went rigid as tension filled the atmosphere.

"I'm so glad you could come" Rachel said in a strained voice.

"You didn't really give me a choice Rachel" Quinn replied with a curt smile,

Silence enveloped them for a few seconds before Quinn cleared her throat. The tension seemed to grow with each passing second but neither wavered.

"Why did you summon me Rachel?"

Rachel turned her eyes away from Quinn for a few moments before a sad laugh passed her lips.

"Because you just don't visit anymore" Rachel replied,

Rachel seemed torn between humour and sorrow when she said those words, making Quinn's heart sink slightly. Rachel was right.

Quinn had kept herself secluded since Shelby had passed, she had pushed Rachel away when David became a threat to Puck and Quinn had isolated herself after she had been punished for protecting her family.

"Rachel…" Quinn breathed out in exasperation

Rachel sighed in defeat before clenching her jaw, composing herself. She handed Quinn a small envelope with Quinn's name written on it.

"Sue requested that I give this invitation to you personally. It seems like Santana has become the new Champion within the ring" Rachel said softly.

Quinn pulled her face in confusion. Santana? A Champion of the ring? Had Sue turned Santana into a gladiator within her arena?

What on earth had been happening during these passed three years?

"Why would Sue ask you to hand this to me? Is she running short on messengers?" Quinn answered, her tone cool and dangerous.

"She dropped it off when she came to request David's presence within the arena."

David's presence? What was Sue up to?

"You agreed?" Quinn asked as her mind tried to comprehend the usual request.

"Of course not." Rachel scoffed.

Riddles started to choke Quinn's chain of thought as she looked around the house. Where was David anyway? Usual he was not far behind Rachel.

"Where is David?" Quinn asked

Rachel's body stiffened slightly as she looked to meet Quinn's eyes.

"Jesse requested that David join him on some exploit" Rachel replied,

By the strain which was evident in Rachel's voice, Quinn found it hard to believe that Rachel had actually agreed to Jesse's request.

Jesse? Sue? …. Something was amiss. Quinn could feel like… she sensed it. But until she knew what was afoot, she would stay vigilant.

Quinn took the envelope without another word, sliding it open. Rachel was right. It was an invitation to the next arena fight.

"I'm still curious as to why Sue didn't send a messenger with the invitation" Quinn stated

Rachel rolled her eye in frustration.

"Because you would kill the messenger if you found out that Sue had made you're favourite fledgling into a sidewalk show. And since I'm a Beloved…"

Rachel shrugged her shoulders

"… you can't exactly kill me" Rachel concluded.

Rachel turned to walk away, but before she left Quinn, she turned and smiled slightly.

"Happy Birthday Quinn" Rachel stated.

The Arena

When the Originals grew bored of the world, Marcus found a way to simulate their lust for blood and domination. The Arena was created during the Bronze Age when the gladiator games became popular in Rome. Once a form of punishment, Marcus tailored the game for the Society's viewing pleasure. Where the Romans enjoyed the beauty of the finality of death, Marcus relished in the thought of the brutality which could take place before eternal death and the difficulty in killing another vampire. Marcus would harvest human within camps, breeding Battle hounds, Assassins and Sorcerers and putting them against each other in the Arena. Vampires would fight each other to the death, tearing and ripping each other apart, all for the title of CHAMPION.

Rouge Vampires were set up against each other as a form of punishment; to kill each other with their bare hands. Shelby was not fond of the games, but respected her brother choice of punishment within his domain. Sue was a Battle hound which Marcus bred for himself. She had held the title for centuries and was known throughout the community as a ruthless killer.

When the Original were slaughtered during the rebel wars, Sue took over her Maker's enterprise and converted it into a gambling ring. She moulded the Arena into a competitive business which the noble families invested in hoping to increase their fortunes. Lost Vampires would join to create a name for themselves because rich families would seek strong Vampires as body guards and mercenaries. They would pay well and the Arena was the best way of advertising a Vampire's strength. This was the dark side of the Vampire Society which Quinn refused to partake in.

David had once ruled the Arena as a Champion when he was still a new fledgling. Rachel had begged him not to join, but he had so much anger that he needed to release, Rachel soon agreed.

"Quinn's home" Puck stated as the door slammed shut, rattling the walls.

Brittany's eyes widened as she watched Puck. If these three years had taught Brittany anything it was that Quinn was a not to be messed with when she was in a bad mood. Obviously the meeting with Rachel had not gone when.

Puck spared Brittany a quick glance before a cheeky smile appeared on his face. It was cruel for him to take pleasure in Quinn's anger, but it brought him pleasure to know that Rachel was the one who inflicted Quinn's discomfort.

"Well you better go say hello Brittany. You're the only one she won't decapitate right now" Puck whispered.

"I heard that Puck" Quinn growled for down stairs.

Brittany couldn't help but start giggling as Puck's eyes widened in surprise.

"Someone is in trouble now" Brittany sang before a victorious smile fell over her mouth.

"Bite me" Puck silently worded before the door opened, revealing an irritated Quinn.

Brittany's face light up instantly as she looked at Quinn with a welcoming smile. Puck, however, did not share Brittany's excitement. He knew what was coming… and he dreaded it.

"Both of you need to start packing" Quinn stated

Puck was confused by Quinn's statement, but by the tone in her voice, Puck knew that now was not the best time to argue or ask questions.

"Where we going?" Brittany asked in an almost whimsical tone

Puck couldn't blame her for being excited. It was rare for Quinn to demand the accompaniment of both her fledglings. It could only mean that they were going to another Vampire's territory for some kind of Beloved event.

"To see Santana" Quinn replied coolly.

Brittany's smile seemed to grow even wider as she got up and started clapping her hands in joy. Unable to keep her excitement in, Brittany ran to Quinn hugging her tightly. The slight screeching sound which escape Brittany's mouth was slightly off-putting as Puck turned to Quinn. Puck looked at Quinn sceptically as Quinn held Brittany, although you could see that this show of affection irritated Quinn.

Brittany finally loosened her death grip on Quinn and ran out the room, leaving Puck and Quinn in silence.

"Sam will have to come to as well. We need to be careful" Quinn whispered seriously before turning to leave.

"What's wrong Quinn?" Puck asked as he followed in Quinn's wake.

"I'm not sure Puck, but it's unsettling" Quinn replied.
