The boy, he doesn't talk much. He's stopped all of his crying a while ago. Now he just sits in his usual seat, watching all of the other kids play. His eyes, they looked so sad, so lost. I wanted to do something about it, but here I am, huddled behind a tree as I silently watch him instead of play like the other kids.
Everybody tells me to stay away from him. But I can't figure out why.
Taking a gulp, I look around for any signs of people before stepping away from the tree and out into the open. He doesn't notice me yet as I begin cautiously making my way over to him. I rethink to myself about coming near him, almost deciding to run back to the tree instead. But I continue forward, pushing myself against my own will.
My footsteps catch his attention. He whirls his head around to me, the both of our eyes locking. I freeze in my spot, not knowing what I should do as he glares at me, raising his arm in defense like I was going to hurt him.
"H-Hello." I whisper out.
My eyes are wide open as I stare up at my ceiling. Putting the back of my hand over my forehead, I feel the intense heat coming from it. I turn my head over, looking at my clock, sighing at how early I had woken up again as I shuffled out of my bed.
It's been about two weeks since I had been at Marceline's house, discovering that her father had owned the school and the house. It had also been two weeks since the last dream. I knew that the dreams were starting to have a weird schedule of showing up. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. It's either, wake up early by a dream, or wake up semi-normally but with a headache.
Enough about that although, I remember the time of after Marceline's house like it was yesterday. Okay maybe not that well like it was yesterday, but I remember enough to actually be able to tell about it. After leaving Marceline's house, and also being kicked in the face by her too, the both of us walked back to my house. Marceline had crossed her arms in annoyance, turning her head the opposite way as we walked while I held my face, trying to subside its stinging.
Jake opened the door for us, or actually me since he didn't know Marceline had come along, and gave a happy wide smile as I showed the house receipt to him. When he asked how I had done it, I moved a bit, pointing behind my back at Marceline and explaining her father and how he owned the land.
Jake just stared at her at first, but broke into another smile, giving her a giant bear hug and thanking her for allowing us to keep our house. That was really about it, Jake now welcoming her inside our house whenever really.
After taking a shower and all that morning stuff, Jake and I walked along the sidewalk like we usually did for school, Jake explaining what we should have for dinner now that he had some extra money since working so hard to pay the house that ended up being cheap for us anyway.
"Can we have spaghetti?" I suggested.
Jake laughed, "Sure dude! Anything for my house saving bro!"
"Jake I didn't really do anything actually." I laughed.
"Well whatever! It's something!" He gave a little dance and began frolicking ahead of me.
I laughed again as I watched him, the both of us continuing along.
During the last couple school days, it was nearly the same as usual. English with Marceline, my other two classes, lunch with Flare and Marceline, P.E with LSP and Flare, my other class, then lastly History with Marceline. Yep, Flare and I don't really eat with our group anymore. We tell them although, eating with them on some days and then going to go eat with Marceline on other days. It works out in a way.
*RIING* First class started.
I stared at the empty seat next to me in confusion. Marceline hadn't been late or absent since the time when she had to take care of the paperwork for her dad. Weird… I'm sure something may have just come up though. She'll probably show up later. I was answered once the girl barged into the room. The entire class falling silent as they stared at her. I could see it, and I doubt anybody else could, but Marceline faked a grin.
"Oops." She said, the class chuckling as they went back to their working.
I continued to watch her although, seeing her grin quickly fade away as she held her head and sped walked to her desk. Once Marceline sat down, I knew something was up. "You alright?" I asked her.
Marceline gave me a small nod, continuing to hold her head as she began working too. Well she tried to.
I noticed that she could even barely hold a pencil, that being a giveaway that something was way wrong. But I decided to wait it out for a bit to make sure that I wasn't just misunderstanding. I secretly observed her for a bit, hearing her breathes were rather harsh compared to normal.
Once the bell rang and everybody else had cleared out, I looked back over to Marceline who had her head on her desk. "Marceline…?" Getting up from my seat, I made my way around to the front of her desk, tilting my head over to see her face. "Are you okay…?"
Marceline, with her eyes closed, nodded. She began to get up from her seat, wobbling a bit as she did so. Once sort of standing straight, she weakly looked at me, eyes half-lidded.
And she fainted.
"Marceline!" I yelled, jumping to the side to break her fall. She fell on top of me, the both of us falling back with a crash. Once I progressed what just happened, I gave a silent gasp, my face turning a dark red, seeing her face directly in front of mines. Good thing she wasn't awake to see all this like I did.
Now it would have been better if she had only fallen on top of my chest or something like she did multiple times before. But no. This time was different. I was way too stunned to even move, the gap between our faces were closed. Let's just say her soft lips tasted like strawberries. That sums up the entire thing. An accidental first kiss.
It was even worse that I openly admit to myself that I actually like it. It wasn't like any other kiss that I had before. It was better. Like way better. I didn't want to move really. But I knew that was wrong. I shouldn't be thinking about these kinds of things when Marceline was obviously in trouble. Oh right… Marceline. She was unconscious. I shook my head from the previous thoughts, hitting the side of it for good measure. It wasn't all that important at the moment. I think.
Using my hands, I moved her to separate us, sitting the both of us up as I put my hand over her forehead. "You're sick aren't you." Her face was a sickly looking red which I doubted was because of our lips brushing together. Picking the now fragile looking girl in my arms, I slung the both of our backpacks behind my back and began rushing towards the nurse's office.
'Closed' A sign read.
"Closed, what the heck?!" I groaned, seeing the sign in front of the nurse doors. "What kind of school closes their nurse office!?" Looking around the halls, for some other idea, I began my way to the office. Luckily for me, everybody had already entered class. I could care less about the people who had seen Marceline in my arms at the moment.
I barged into the office doors, finding none other than Hunson Abadeer sitting behind his desk working. "Marceline's sick, dude!"
"Mmhmm…" He replied nonchalantly, not taking his eyes off of the paper.
I glared at him, clearing my throat, "Let me rephrase that. Your daughter is too weak to even hold a pencil, and could possibly be needed to be put in a hospital if it gets worse."
"Yep." He said.
I growled, "What's wrong with you?!"
His phone rang. "I'm busy." Hunson picked up his phone, spinning his chair away from me as he began talking. Impatiently I tapped my foot as he continued talking. Once he finished, he hung up the phone and turned back around. "Oh you're still here?" Hunson continued writing. "Marceline has a tendency to get sick. I don't allow her to go to the doctors or anything like that though."
"And why not?" I asked, clenching my teeth in annoyance.
"She needs to overcome her sickness. I figured dealing with a sickness on your own is a good way to become immune to it. You know… to stop being such a weakling and take the sickness."
"That doesn't make any sense at all!"
"Don't worry. I don't leave her to die. I allow her to take medicine if she needs them." He smiled, "The reason how I knew Marceline was going to fall asleep that one time. She had taken her medicine but it's a sleeping medicine so you know how that turned out."
"Okay where is her medicine?"
"At my house."
I groaned, "Where's the nearest hospital?"
"On the other side of town."
"Your house it is…" I sighed, "How do I get in-"
"The gate password is 1, 2, 3, 4."
I began my way out, "I'm surprised that you weren't robbed yet with that password…"
Hunson laughed and only shrugged his shoulders.
I began somewhat running towards her house. Calculating how long it takes to get to my house from here even by running and an additional maybe ten-ish minutes to get to Marceline's house. It may take around thirty minutes at most. Great. A thirty minute run…
As I ran, I looked down at the still unconscious Marceline in my arms, holding her even more tightly in fear that something even worse my happen to her. With that in mind I ran even faster, even when my legs began to feel like wooden pegs. At a time like this I really wish I could drive. Or Marceline to be awake to drive her motorcycle. But then again, that wouldn't seem really heroic on my part. So I continued running.
I stopped halfway to catch my breath, leaning against a tree as I did. Kneeling down for a quick moment, I used my hand to feel Marceline's forehead again, having notice that it had become extremely heated to the point that would be considered a fever. A twig snapped behind the tree. I quickly stood up, glaring into the darkness of the shade of the tree before running off again.
Finally finishing the last half of the run, I leaned beside the gate to catch my breathe. I inserted the four numbers into the key pad below the speakers, waiting for the gates to open up, becoming confused when they didn't. A light flashed from a small circle on top of the speakers, a robotic voice saying, "Finn identified."
"Oh good. That helps secure the place more." I said aloud, watching as the gates began to open. Wait a second why would my identification be in their machine? I groaned, the principal slash landlord slash Marceline's father slash Hunson Abadeer probably inserted my name and a picture of me into the machine. He must trust me that much.
Now this time speed-walking instead of running because I'm tired, I opened the door with my hand and stepped inside, elbowing the door closed. Where do I put Marceline? I looked around, almost deciding to just place her down on the couch, but looked up at the top of the staircase. Her room.
Wow already? Dang I work fast. I think. Lol. Anyway. This is the second main plot right now actually. So look forward too it!

Who wants a voting poll? I want a voting poll.
A. The next chapter will be adorable lol. At least as adorable as I can try. (Hmm...?)
B. The next chapter Finn will be visibly embarrassed, but will do what he can to make Marceline better. (And will also be cute probably)
C. The next chapter Finn gives Marceline medicine and all is well and onto the next day. (Don't you dare pick this! But then why did I put this choice? So go ahead.)
.
Psst. Choose 'B'. I like that one. But 'A' can work too. (Spoiler: They're both basically the same thing. Just tweaks here and there. 'Shh. I want people to think that the two are different but they actually aren't but the people won't know that since they won't get to see the other choice even though its the same thiiiinggg')
I know some of you are going to choose 'C' just for the fun of it lol. I seee youuu.
