His voice finally woke her up.
Amaya stirred, the light was coming back into her eyes as her flames ceased to swirl around her body; the needles injected in her body had melted from Amaimon's final flare of power. Through her hazy vision, she caught sight of Amaimon's fallen body by Lucifer's feet, Rin frantically slicing the prison he was in with his flames, and her red stained hands.
"Lucifer…" Amaya trembled, standing up to face the invincible foe before her; she knew it was too late to regret her doings and it was time for her to rectify her mistakes, for giving in to her inner demon self.
"Let Amaimon and Rin leave and I will… I will be yours!" Lucifer turned to face her, a light smile blooming on his face as he nodded in approval; she had finally seen the light.
"Good decision, child." Rin's yells were lost as Amaya stood frozen in tracks, watching in trepidation as Lucifer approached her, his warm palms touching her face gently. A long golden chain materialized and reined her right arm, with Lucifer holding the other end tightly as he beckoned her to follow.
"I'm sorry…" Amaya whispered to her lover, Amaimon, and to Rin, her best friend. "I won't be your liability anymore… I won't hand myself over as well… Both of you have taught me to be strong and so, I will be strong, in my own way."
Lucifer raised his eyebrows as he heard her melancholic murmurs and he stared in astonishment as the half-demon unsheathed her sword. Before Lucifer could even stop her movements, with the impassive King finally showing some change in his expression; Amaya had swiftly stabbed herself in her heart. As soon as her blood began to drip, the chain was ignited with dark red flames, potent flames fueled by the core of her soul and her very essence.
The blaze shone brightly and started to eat away Lucifer's left hand; burning his entire limb before he could hack it away, to prevent the spread of blood fire to the rest of his body. Finally, his immaculate appearance was marred by something dark and bloody.
"Foolish woman. You could have been of use."
It was a gruesome sight as the half-demon fell backwards, the shackles melting into the dust, the half-demon lying in the pool of crimson blood. The flames subsided after a long while, failing to destroy the King of Light, but at least his arm was taken.
Amaya had never been a child who would give up easily, even at the cost of her life.
"You are beautiful, My Queen."
His words, she remembered clearly as her vision turned dark; the day when the Earth King placed a crown of fire roses on her head, kissing her forehead as he declared her as his proudly.
A single tear dripped down her cheeks as she dissipated into dusts of red.
Lucifer stared at the bloody mess around him. Rin was still howling in his prison, attempting to hold onto the very last of his breath while Amaimon and Amaya lay lifeless on the ground.
The King of Light touched his left shoulder, murmuring in pity as he felt the blackened stump. "This will take a long while to heal."
"Older brother… This is enough."
Lucifer turned around, noticing the unwelcomed visitors in his palace; the last of Seraphims he had stationed around his castle as his guards were all put down.
Beelzebub and Mephisto were standing before him, a firm look on their faces. Mephisto had quickly freed Rin from within his cage and the latter had collapsed in pain onto the principal's shoulder.
"Look at what you did to our family…" Beelzebub murmured as a flock of insects appeared to carry Amaimon away. Amaya had already disintegrated into red flecks of dust, the pool of blood was the only evidence of her ever being alive.
Lucifer had no words for them, his plans were put to a stop by these unforeseen circumstances and he was no longer in the mood to fight. His palace was in shambles and he had to rest to heal his injuries as well.
"Leave."
Rin was back in True Cross Academy, his bodies covered in bandages as he slept for a week. Yukio and Mephisto stood by his bedside diligently as his fellow classmates took turns by watching over him during their free time, tending to the wounded child as he slept peacefully on the hospital bed.
Meanwhile, Beelzebub was healing Amaimon back in his garden; the latter was eventually saved by the flask of light Lucifer had given. Mephisto was able to turn back time before Amaimon's soul could completely disappear.
The dissipating demonic powers of Amaimon were amassed back through the power of light and time. Both Mephisto and Lucifer were aware that if Satan was to find his child, Amaimon, dead, his wrath would be beyond terrifying to behold.
Amaimon's eyes slowly fluttered open and Behemoth immediately jumped into his master's embrace in happiness. Beelzebub, who was watching over his younger brother in his room, closed his novel at once when he regained consciousness.
"You got your wish, Amaimon," Beelzebub said airily, "You finally get to fight our older brother."
"…Where is Amaya?" Amaimon ignored Beelzebub's cutting comments as the face of his beloved flashed across his mind at once. His muscles ached in pain, although his external wounds had healed, it would be awhile before he would regain his demonic powers.
"I wonder."
Amaimon turned to glare at Beelzebub, waiting for him to continue his sentence, his fist ready to attack him if his answer was to displease him.
"You are welcome for my taking care of you," Beelzebub sighed as he began to fill in on how Amaya had attempted a sacrificial suicide. "We tried to salvage whatever essence she had left. However, don't you forget, she is merely a half-demon; she would heal, one day, definitely. But it could be a year, a decade, a millennium, or even an aeon."
"I will wait."
Amaimon sat alone on the rooftop of his house, gazing across the landscape of his garden, taking in the beauty of his creations. He had never truly taken notice of his plants, his flowers, his garden until he had met her.
He could still remember vividly the very first day they had met. She, who was so deep in concentration, wielding her blade as she practiced her moves. He could still remember her voice clearly, a child's voice on that day, so innocent and so full of hope.
Amaimon missed her companionship dearly, he wanted to hold her hand again, to feel her warmth, and to answer her endless questions.
It was through being together with Amaya that he had learnt to protect, learnt to cherish, and learnt to love somebody.
"Demon's pride…" Amaimon whispered to himself as Lucifer's words reverberated in his mind.
"My pride…" Amaimon thought of Mephisto's words that had reminded him that being powerful was useless if he didn't have anybody to protect, and that would be the difference between Rin and him.
"My pride is… you, Amaya."
Maybe it wasn't so bad to have some human's emotions after all. At least Amaimon had learnt to feel something instead of disregarding everything around him and to spend his time wading in rivers of blood.
In his garden, Amaimon noticed some strange fireflies hovering above the bushes of green roses that Amaya had particularly loved. "These green flowers… they remind me of you!" He could still hear her voice, bright as bell as she watered them with love.
Those fireflies were an unusual shade of red, emitting a glow so familiar and radiating a heat so so warm.
