Yami: The last time this was updated was 2-12-17. Why wait for so long to update?
It's called LIFE. I've had a lot of crap happen all at once.
Yugi: *Looks at profile page* The last time you updated 'Free Flight' was on October 11th. 'Haunted' was updated the same time this was back in February.
Ryou: You also posted chapter 67 of 'Hunted' on the second of June.
Like I said a lot of crap has happened.
Mokuba: Please enjoy!
Yami and Atem couldn't find the memory chip for Kuriboh so they tossed the parts in the junk bin their father had in his office for recycling. Little did the two know that Mana had already collected the key piece as she had been instructed when they had sat down for their dinner. Aknamkanon sighed as he looked through the files that had been stored on the chip.
Kuriboh had registered a resonance scan that indicated the presence of the nanites in Yugi's body. Comparisons made by the 'pet' didn't match the initial imprinting Kuriboh had in its databanks, hence the attack. Aknamkanon initiated the format command to wipe the chip clean and then exposed it to a powerful magnet to remove any possibility of Yami or Atem retrieving any fragmented files and learning of Yugi's condition should they find it.
Yugi watched as his brothers played their games in the gaming room. He sat alone at the card table and played solitaire until he was bored. Yami nudged his brother, "Let's let Yugi try."
Atem nodded as he hooked up another controller and called Yugi over. The boy's eyes lit up as Atem held up the third, "Come and try this game with us."
Yugi rushed over and pulled his beanbag chair towards the TV set. The three brothers played their racing game together for the first time. Yami and Atem noticed that Yugi's avatar had crashed and wasn't moving for sometime. When they looked over at Yugi, he was sound asleep. "Wow, I've never noticed how peaceful he looks," Yami admitted as he watched Yugi sleep.
Atem nodded, "Yeah. For a kid, Yugi's pretty good. I just wish we could take him out and show him the city."
"Dad said that his weak immune system prevents that," Yami pointed out. "Besides, Yugi really hasn't been anywhere but here, Grandpa's, the C.A.T., and a friend of Dad's his whole life. He might have a panic attack and then his heart would give out."
"True. I guess that I forgot about his heart. I can't believe that we were lucky that we didn't hurt him like that when we were so cruel to him."
"Yeah."
"I think we should put Yugi to bed before Dad pitches a fit," Atem said.
"Where though? His new rooms are in Dad's wing and all his stuff's there."
"The library seems to be an ok place," Atem replied as he carefully gathered his baby brother from the beanbag chair.
Yugi watched as Atem and Yami tried to find a video to watch with Yugi. "Nothing scary please," Yugi requested as he curled up in an oversized chair with a comforter. "I get really bad nightmares from them and then I end up staying awake and sleepwalking later because of it."
"We've got 'Drop Dead Fred', 'Code Lyoko', or 'Star Wars'," Yami offered.
Yugi beamed at the choices, "Could we watch the first one? Grandpa let me watch it with him once and I loved it! It's really funny."
"Are you sure that this move is appropriate for your age group," Atem asked his little brother.
Yugi nodded, "Grandpa wouldn't let me watch it if it wasn't safe."
The three brothers started the movie. Yugi laughed at the part where Drop Dead Fred got his head stuck in the fridge and wound up looking like a lemon head candy. Unfortunately, Atem was shocked to learn that there were several issues that their father would have with the movie. He stood up and shut the movie off, "Dad would kill us if he caught you watching it. How about we watch Star Wars instead?"
"Ok. Can we start with the first one? The one with Anakin," Yugi added when he remembered that the last time he binge-watched the series his grandfather started off with 'A New Hope'.
"Sure," Yami said as he got up. "I'll go get them from my room. Why don't you go to the bathroom while Atem and I get the snacks and movie set up?"
Yugi nodded and scooted off the couch, "I need to take my medicine anyways. Mana could help you with the snacks. She knows what I can have and what not to give me."
Yami and Atem winced inwardly at Yugi's innocent comment. They should have Yugi's dietary and medical needs memorized from the beginning, but with their mistreatment of the boy they never bothered. "We need to ask Dad what we can do to help Yugi out more," Atem stated as he watched their baby brother turn the corner.
Yami nodded, "Yeah. I completely forgot that he can't eat too many sweets and I know that he's allergic to something but I don't know what it is."
"Young Master cannot eat pork," Mana stated as she entered. "Anything with gelatin is prohibited in his diet, as are pork skins and other such items. I took the liberty of setting up a cupboard with the assistance of the kitchen staff just for Master Yugi. It has his name on the front should you decide to raid the kitchen for snacks and drinks."
The robotic nursemaid bowed to the two before leaving to tidy up Yugi's already clean rooms.
Aknamkanon was stunned to find his three sons sleeping in the same room. Yugi had his feet on Atem's lap while using Yami's for a pillow. Yami was leaning against the arm of the couch while Atem was using Yugi's blanket-covered form for a makeshift pillow. The fifth Star Wars movie was nearing the end as the three brothers slept on.
He gently shook Atem awake enough to get him to sit up long enough to remove Yugi carefully. Atem immediately laid back down and fell asleep once more. Aknamkanon chuckled softly as he felt Yugi shifting in his arms to get comfortable in his sleep. He carried the small boy into his room and tucked him into bed. Giving Yugi a quick kiss on his forehead, Aknamkanon flipped on a rotating lamp and turned off the overhead, "Sleep well."
And with this chapter, I end the mass updates for the time being...
Malik: At least until PhantomBrat gets bored and goes through her files to figure out how many stories have a completed chapter.
Yugi: There is also a Poll on PhantomBrat's profile page that she wishes her readers to take.
Ryou: She might feel inspired to post one or more chapters of 'Free Flight' should more than five people respond to her inquiry.
RYOU! I don't want to solicit reviews or poll-takers.
Malik: He already put it on the table.
You're horrible, Malik.
Malik: Blame Marik.
Whatever.
Yugi: Until next time!
