Bella

I exhaled heavily and rested my head against the car window.

"You could at least be a little appreciative that you're spending the night with me." Alice said, sounding hurt.

"I'm sorry, Alice. It's just… not the way I thought we'd be spending our anniversary." I admitted, turning to face my best friend.

"I know. We'll have fun though, I promise! You're going to have the best night ever. You'll see."

I did my best to give her a convincing smile and then leant on the window again. I know I had been the one to say I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but by that I meant he couldn't get me any presents. I still thought we'd at least spend some of it together. I knew he had a duty to his pack and all, but surely Sam would give him one night off, if he asked? We pulled up in the garage quicker than I thought we would, I always forgot about the Cullens love for speed.

"Come on, I'll get your bag." Alice said, hopping down from the car.

Before I had even closed my door, she was racing through the door that leads to the house with my bag in hand. I followed her and did my best to think positively about the situation, at least tomorrow would definitely be fun. Jared had promised me his undivided attention. Alice took my hand, obviously irritated and impatient with my slow dreariness.

"Hey, Bells."

As I walked in to the living room, my eyes fell on Jared, standing there glorious as ever.

"Jared! I thought… what are you doing here?" I could have cringed at how squeal-y and Jessica-ish I sounded, but I was just happy to see Jared.

"Couldn't have you spending our anniversary writhing in pain as Alice painted your toe nails now, could I?"

Alice scowled at him but I just laughed and ran over to hug him.

"What are you doing here, then?"

"I've come to surprise you." He said simply, picking me up. "We're going on an adventure."

He sounded like Peter Pan, I couldn't help but laugh.

"But… I promised Alice…"

"Excuse me, do you really think I couldn't be a part of this plan?" Alice interrupted me, smiling at me. "You go and have fun. You'll love it, I know so. Even if I cant see the future where a wolf is concerned."

"Wow… thanks." I said, I was blushing because the whole family (minus Edward) were laughing at the sight of me being carried like a baby. "Well… see you I guess."

Jared took my bag from Alice and carried me out to his car.

"You really saved me, Jared. I thought I wouldn't see you tonight." I said when he set me on my feet.

"And I saved you from the torture of Alice making you a Barbie?"

"I can hear you!" Alice yelled, we both laughed.

"That too." I stood up on my toes to kiss him, and he lifted me back up so I could reach comfortably.

"So where are we going?" I asked once we were both in the car.

"That's a surprise."

"I hate surprises." I muttered, and he laughed.

"You'll love this one."

"We're… on a mountain?" I said sceptically.

Jared laughed and got out the car, appearing at my side to help me out.

"Yep." He replied simply, making me warier. "C'mon."

I protested as he swooped me back up in to his arms and started walking the rest of the way up the hill.

"May I ask why we're on a mountain when they have forecast storms?" I winced, making him bark with laughter again.

"I'll protect you from the weather, baby, I promise." He said, and he looked in to my eyes which seemed to calm me down. "Home sweet home."

He placed me gently on the ground and my eyes took in the tent. Candles had been lit and were leading up to the entrance, and inside I could see a pattern of cushions on the floor.

"We're living here now?" I asked, though I had to smile. It just seemed… romantic.

"We sure are. For the night, at least. Go inside, I'll be back in a minute."

I sighed and crawled in to the tent, it was bigger than it looked like Mary Poppins' carpet bag; it was so comfortable inside, too. Jared was much quicker without me in his arms, he came back in a flash carrying a picnic basket and numerous pillows and blankets.

"You cooked?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Mom did, actually." He replied, grinning at me. "She may be even better at cooking than Emily. No where near as good as you, though."

"Well then she cant be better than Emily." I laughed, helping him to arrange the blankets and pillows.

"Oh she is." He disappeared to blow out the candles outside, knowing the wind would do it soon. It had already started to rain lightly, but for some reason that didn't even bother me anymore. I wondered if Jasper had found a way to pass his powers on to Jared…

"Bella, honey, do you like the idea of camping out?" he asked me as he zipped up the tent flap.

"Is there any way of escaping?" I teased, only it didn't hit Jared as teasing.

"Oh god, you hate it don't you?" he groaned. "I should take you home…"

"No, Jared. I love it. I really do." I said truthfully, pulling him to lie on the cushions next to me. "Like I love you."

I rarely said those words, I still worried that he would leave me in spite of the imprinting thing.

"Well I love you more, Bella."

"Not possible!" I argued, but he silenced me by kissing me.

I started to worry then, but I was also excited… why were we camping? Had Jared planned to do something more to show his love for me? I wasn't sure if I was ready for that, my heart started to pump faster.

"Bella, I know what you might be thinking. We're not making love tonight." He said, like that was final.

I raised my eyebrow, but didn't question him further.

"So, what tasty treats has your mother prepared for us?" I asked, leaning forward to look inside the picnic basket.

Jared laughed again, pulling out some flasks and then other things, like homemade cookies and potato chips and a beautiful cake. It was enormous, and had iced on top, "Bella and Jared". It was unbelievably cringeworthy but also, unbelievably romantic and sweet.

"And, to top it off," Jared unveiled a tiny laptop, which wasn't actually a laptop but a miniature DVD player and screen. Then he pulled out a mixture of DVDs including Notting Hill, my new favourite.

"Don't you hate that film?" I asked.

"Its growing on me." He admitted.

Jared

Hey, just a warning; there is a brief lemon in this chapter. I'm not too keen on writing lemon fictions especially with all the details but I felt the need to have it in the story!

My plan had been a success. Bella and I spent the evening ignoring the roaring storm as she lay cradled in my arms, watching films and eating food as we laughed and quizzed each other even more. We had asked each other so much within a month that we'd gotten to talking about my great great aunt's cousin twice removed who lived in Mumbai. Eventually Bella fell asleep in my arms and I lay listening to her heart beat, stroking her hair gently and hearing her talk to herself.

"I love you." She kept saying over and over, it made me smile myself to sleep.

I awoke to Bella kissing me. "Wake up sleepy head, the sun has risen." She grinned.

I sat up, she'd opened the tent flap so I assumed she had been watching it.

"It was so beautiful. Just like last night, it was the perfect way to celebrate our one month together."

"And there are so many more to come." I told her, kissing her again and pulling her to lay beside me. "I'm so lucky to have found you when I did." I said.

"Not as lucky as I was to find you. You're like the light at the end of the tunnel."

I laughed and hugged her to my chest. "You're like my tiny little bird."

"I'm your bird?" she said, clearly not impressed.

"Yeah, you remind me of a little birdy because of your laugh. It's like… bird song."

She laughed, there the sound was again. "Is that meant to be a compliment?"

"It is a compliment." I rolled my eyes. "You're beautiful, Bella. I never want to be without you."

We ate left over cake for breakfast and then Bella quickly got changed. We'd at least gotten over the awkwardness of seeing one another get changed, I spent almost every night sleeping in Bella's room, apart from those rare nights she slept at Alice's. Those nights were like torture to me. Bella still hadn't had her traditional bonfire that all imprints had, there had been too much stress surrounding the whole vampire thing, but there was one scheduled for tonight. Embry had imprinted on a girl called Maia from school so the elders figured they may as well have them on the same night, but we still had the full day together.

"What do you wanna do today?" I asked her while we packed up. "First I'm taking you for proper breakfast, I'm not letting you go all day on just cake, but after that."

"You could… meet my dad?" she said the words slowly, with her eyes on me as if testing for my reaction.

"Really? The chief? Won't he try and shoot me?"

She punched my arm lightly and I laughed, putting my arm round her, "Of course I'd like to meet your dad, Bella."

Once we'd packed the car up I drove us to a café that just opened up in Forks and ordered cinnamon pancakes for Bella and a massive fry up for myself. I ate that easier than Bella ate the pancakes, making us both laugh.

"Thank you so much for last night." Bella said as we ate, placing her hand in mine across the table. "And for agreeing to meet my dad."

"Bella, you don't have to thank me. I will do anything for you and to make you happy, I don't expect any thanks."

She raised her eyebrows at me, "So I'm just meant to become some spoilt ungrateful bitch?"

I laughed. "You could never be that, honey." I replied.

We left the café and drove back to Bella's house – the police cruiser was in the drive.

"Wait – wont he want to know why you're back so early with me and not Alice?"

"I'll tell you picked me up so we could spend the day together, it'll be fine."

She took my hand again as we walked up the path and then she opened the door.

"Dad?"

"In here, Bell."

With one look at me, Bella dragged me in to the kitchen and I found myself immediately being analysed by Chief Swan.

"So. I'm guessing you're Jared?" he greeted me, looking wary.

"Yes sir." I replied, reaching out a hand to shake. He shook it, and then sat there looking from me to Bella.

"Weren't you meant to be with Alice?"

"Yes I was, but Jared and I wanted to spend the day together."

"Alright. So what are you doing?"

Bella gestured for me to sit at the table as she did, and I still felt… tense.

"Well tonight, Bella is coming with me to a bonfire in La Push, if that's okay. Billy will be there to keep an eye on her if he needs to."

Bella rolled her eyes and huffed, making Chief Swan smile at last. "That's great."

"During the day we're… what are we doing, Bella?"

She looked horrified at the idea of choosing our plans for the day, though finally she suggested a drive to Port Angeles so she could go to the bookstore.

"Alright, Bella, why don't you go upstairs and get ready?"

"I am ready, dad."

"Then go upstairs and pretend to get ready. Time for a dad talk."

With one last apologetic glance at me, Bella went upstairs and I could hear her fumbling around with things up in her room.

"Son, I'm sure you know about Bella's last relationship, as I take it you were part of the group helping Sam Uley?"

"Yes Chief, I was. I am well aware of that and I promise you I would never do that to her. Anything to hurt her, I would never do."

"Call me Charlie, Jared. You seem like a good kid. I just… Bella got very involved with her last relationship, it was almost scary how attached she was to him, and when that ended it was all in tears. I… I don't want her to get like that with you."

"I can assure you, the first of my priorities is protecting Bella and her feelings."

"I know, you're a good kid." He repeated.

He sat there quietly for a moment as he finished his coffee, then he put his mug in the sink and said he had to go to work.

"I thought you had a day off?" Bella said, coming down stairs.

"So did I, but there's apparently an emergency."

"Be safe." Bella called after him as he started through the door.

"Always am."

We drove to Port Angeles in comfortable quiet.

"Well what did my dad say to you?" Bella said. "I was hoping you guys would have longer to get to know each other…"

"Just warned me not to hurt you. Not that I would." I replied, kissing her the fingers of her hand which was clasped with mine.

We spent the day mucking about in clothes stores and trying on weird hats in charity shops and then we went to the bookstore. I bought Bella some despite her protests and then she bought one for me which she told me I must read.

"You're asking me to read Jane Ere?" I gasped, I couldn't believe it.

"It's one of my favourite books!" Bella argued. "I think you'd like it."

"I don't even read!" I groaned.

"Pleeeease." She blinked her eyes so that her long lashes dusted her cheeks and gave me a quick kiss.

"You don't have some spooky Jane Ere fantasy right?"

She playfully slapped my arm and went over to the counter to pay for the book. I did wonder why she wanted me to read her favourite book, especially when it was Jane Ere for crying out loud! The day was nice and relaxing, and even Alice didn't keep constantly ringing for details. She hated that she couldn't see the future where I was concerned, she always had to know things before everyone else.

On the drive back, Bella flicked through the books we had bought, and she started reading me a page from Jane Ere.

"I have for the first time found what I can truly love–I have found you. You are my sympathy–my better self–my good angel–I am bound to you with a strong attachment. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, a solemn passion is conceived in my heart; it leans to you, draws you to my center and spring of life, wrap my existence about you–and, kindling in pure, powerful flame, fuses you and me in one."

The words sounded so beautiful coming from Bella's mouth I wished she would read it all to me, she spoke them so gently and with her reading them, her head on my chest and my arm encasing her in the prison of my embrace.

"You are my good angel." I murmured, and she laughed, looking up to kiss me.

When we arrived back at Bella's house, her dad was still out. She led me upstairs to her bedroom and started to get changed in to warmer clothes. I know she didn't mind anymore and neither did I, about seeing one another naked, but I still stood with my back to her, looking out the window.

"You can look at me." Bella said timidly, I thought she'd be dressed but when I looked around she was wearing a big shirt and no bottoms apart from her underwear. They weren't lacy or anything like that and it wasn't a thong, they were pale blue silk that clung to her skin perfectly. I blushed when I realised I'd been ogling and felt bad.

I didn't want to offend her by looking away so I just sat gingerly in the chair I had sat in that first night we met and waited patiently for her to finish dressing. However, ignoring her blush and her obvious nervousness, Bella started to walk towards me. Oh god oh god oh god. Without saying a word, she took my hand and pulled me to sit on her bed, where she started kissing me. I kissed her back, it was too hard not to, and I felt her hands running all over my chest, my back. She started pulling at my shirt so I helped her pull it up over my head and lay her carefully down on the bed. Her lips were on mine, these kisses were so fast and desperate they were giving me head rush. All I wanted to do right there and right then was make love to my Bella, before claiming her on the right side of her neck but…

Her hands were moving all over me, causing me to tingle everywhere, and then her hand rubbed over my protruding cock.

"Bella…" I said, pulling away from her.

"Yeah?" she breathed, smiling as she continued to feel me, making my dick stand up more.

"Not now." I whispered, taking her hands and pulling them up to rest beneath my chin.

"Why? You… seemed to like it before." She was confused, and she looked a little upset, I hated that; being the one to make her sad.

"I did, too much."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Yes."

Oh now I'd really done it, she actually looked like she was going to cry.

"Hey, Bella, baby, don't cry, please." I sat up as she did and wrapped my arm around her. "It's a bad thing because I want you too much and I shouldn't, not yet."

"But I want you, Jared. You want me…"

"It shouldn't be like this. I want to do it properly. Don't you?"

She rolled her eyes and nodded. "I know I'm being silly I just… I don't know how much longer I can resist…" she was talking breathlessly.

"I know Bella, me neither. We cant make love yet though."

"Isn't the guy usually the one who cant control themselves?" Bella laughed.

"How very sexist." I shook my head and leaned forward to kiss her again.

"You know… stuff like this"- her hand reached down to touch my cock again, god she was like a horny devil. –"don't count as making love…"

"Are you… are you sure you want to…?"

"I've never been surer of anything."

Her lips never left mine as she fumbled around with the buttons of my jeans, I pushed them down and Bella's eyes widened at the sight of my dick. She was biting her lip, it made me nervous.

"Bella we don't have to-"

"Shh. I want to. Do you want me to?"

"Err… yeah." I admitted, feeling selfish.

"Okay. I guess… lie down? I've never done this before."

"I would hope you hadn't." I laughed, lying back on the bed.

"…have you?" she whispered as her hand started working on my shaft. It felt amazing, I honestly didn't know if I could control myself.

"Never." I whispered back, trying not to groan with delight at just her simplest touch. She was straddling me, her hand slowly speeding up. And then she leant forwards, her lips parted. I felt her breath on the tip, it was hot and heavy as she was almost panting. Her tiny tongue poked out and she started to move in tiny little circles, before her lips slipped over the head and she started to suck the shaft in her mouth. Her big innocent eyes were locked on mine, I could have laughed, not so innocent anymore! I shouldn't be thinking like that, I didn't want this to be thought of as a bad thing. Her head was bobbing up and down, and I had to steady myself by gripping the bed post with my left hand and gently holding her head with my right, pushing her head softly up and down, her eyes still locked on mine. She was getting faster and faster, I was getting harder and harder. Then we heard the cruiser pull up.

"Shit!" Bella yelled, jumping up.

She threw me my clothes and ran about the room finding some jeans and a jacket to wear over her shirt. Once we were both decent, she hissed at me to sit on the chair and opened the door, just as we heard Charlie's feet stomping up the stairs.

"Bells? You up there?"

Bella licked her lips and it shouldn't have but that turned me on even more, I was still hard.

"Yeah." Bella yelled in reply, "So is Jared."

"As long as you keep the door open…"

He went in to his bedroom I think to change, and then went back downstairs.

"Crap that was close." Bella whispered, shaking her head.

"That was perfect, Bells." I whispered back, holding out my hand for her to come and stand in front of me. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. You'll have to return the favour some time…"

God she was good at teasing me, she was really turning me on. I had never expected Bella to be so… sexy on purpose. Sure, she was always amazing and hot and all, but she had led that entire thing. I could barely control myself after that.

"Okay, Dad, we're off to the bonfire." Bella called in to the living room as we headed out the front door.

Charlie appeared in the doorway of the living room, and then he looked at me.

"Get her home safe."

"Yes sir."

"It's Charlie." He told me again.

"Sorry sir, I mean, sorry Charlie." Bella laughed and took my hand.

"Bye dad. Love you."

"Love you too, Bella."

I drove us again and tried to ignore Charlie watching us suspiciously from the window in the kitchen.

"Think he suspects anything?"

"Nah, not Charlie. To be honest if he did, I don't think he would mention it yet. He'll probably take weeks just to pluck up the courage." She laughed.

"Lucky you." I muttered.

"Why?"

"Mom had it with me yesterday before I drove to meet you. She fucking bought me condoms."

Bella chortled, squeezing my hand.

"She seems… open."

"She really is." I was scarred, there had been conversations worse than the sex talk. I recounted stories of her telling all her girl friends with me in the room about her current sex life with my dad, finding her secret stash of pornos which I knew weren't dads because he hid his under their wardrobe and hearing her give me older sister the talk on 'pleasuring yourself'. Bella of course found all these hilarious, but they had honestly scarred me for life. We pulled up near the beach and walked down hand in hand.

"You're sure they don't mind me being here?"

"Bella, this bonfire is for you. And Maia."

"Is that the girl Embry imprinted on?"

"Yep."

Everyone looked up at our arrival, we were a little later after our, err… endeavours. I had been worried about Jake, he was sitting there lonely on the far side of the same log as Leah and Seth Clearwater, who had just recently fazed. I had expressed my views with Bella; it really bummed him out that he couldn't invite his imprint to the imprints bonfire, I didn't blame him. We went and sat between him and Leah, Bella sat next to him and gave him a hug.

"It'll all sort itself our, Jake." she whispered.

"I hope so." He replied glumly, hugging her back.

Bella got slightly sleepy and ended up resting her head on my shoulder as the elders told stories of the cold one and Taha Aki, I held her close to me and heard her faint gasps. I looked over at Maia and Embry.

Maia was a nice girl, she lived on the res and had black wavy hair that was flying on the wind, she was pretty but the way Embry looked at her only made her beauty more obvious. She looked amazed by the stories, much like we all had done at the first bonfires; Quil, Seth and Leah had heard the stories of course but never at the actual bonfire. The only one who didn't look happy or amazed was Leah, she sat there looking miserable.

"Bella," I whispered gently once the stories had been told. "You want some food?"

"Mm hmm." Bella hummed, sitting up and wiping her eyes. She hadn't fallen asleep but she looked ready to, she'd woken up before sunrise. "You wait here, I'll get you some."

Jake accompanied me over to the food table and we loaded up our plates, I got one for Bella too.

"You alright man?" I asked him, spooning potato salad on to Bella's plate.

"Yeah." He said glumly. "It just sucks that she'll never come to one of these. The elders are being understanding at all but they're still seeing her as the enemy, and she wouldn't come anyway, not now."

I clapped him on the shoulder. "It'll work out eventually."

"Yep."

I knew he was bored with hearing that, but I didn't know what else to say. 'You cant share your life with your imprint but I'm gonna go make out with mine who happens to be the old love of your life' doesn't seem to cut it.

I returned to Bella and she ate and then we went and said hey to Embry and Maia. They seemed to like each other, but Bella was exhausted.

"Come on, I'm driving you home."

"The… party's… not…over." Bella said, yawning in between practically each word.

"You're exhausted, Bells. Come on."

I drove her home and Charlie let me in to carry her up to bed. I lay her underneath the duvet and kissed her gently.

"I'll come back later." I whispered, going back downstairs and out the door.

"Thanks for looking after her." Charlie called after me. "See ya."

"Bye." I waved over my shoulder and ran in to the tree line to phase, I hadn't been on duty in a long time, and however much I loved spending my time with Bella it was really wonderful to be able to run freely through the woods. It wasn't as horrible as it had been when I first met Bella, either, we didn't have any crazy vampires. Of course we still had the Cullens, but that couldn't be helped. Jake was on duty with Embry. It used to be Paul who ran with Jake and I, but Sam does his best to stop us from being with Paul. He can be fun to be around occasionally, but he's also the biggest ass you'll ever meet; he sleeps around with random girls and doesn't call them when he promises to, he loses his temper easily and he's just a jerk in general.

Embry: Jared my man! You didn't get a chance to tell us tonight, how did your date go?

Jared: It was… amazing.

I knew they would see it all flashing through my mind as I went over the amazing couple of days we had spent together, I really hoped they didn't see us in Bella's room… they did.

Jake: Ugh, that's…

Embry: Hahaha good one Jared!

Jared: Shut up.

Jake: Dude she's like my sister!

Embry: Like we didn't have to put up with your fantasies about her…

Jake: How's Maia?

Embry: She's good.

Jared: Is she dealing with the werewolf stuff alright?

Embry: She was a little a freaked out at first but she's calmed down about it now. It's just horrible being away from her

Jake and I both grunted in agreement. It was harder for Jake, he practically never saw his imprint and they were supposed to hate each other.

Jared: Jake, is Rosalie ever going to tell her family you're friends?

Jake: I don't know. I don't blame her for being worried about their reactions, even my dad was sick at the idea of me and a vampire.

Embry: Sorry, man.

Embry, Sam and I all felt really bad when we were near Jacob and with or discussing our imprints. It really hurt him, only being able to see his in secret and even then she didn't return the feelings he felt for her. It would be like this forever, that's the worst part. I saw through his eyes, he was back outside the Cullens house.

Embry: Dude, you should stop torturing yourself…

Jake: It's not torture to know she's safe and to hear her laugh. I can't… it's impossible without her.

Jared: They've invited Bella and I round. I could try get Alice to invite you.

Jake: I'm still not really psyched about hanging with a vampire coven… but I guess I'll get to see Rose. Thanks, man.

Jared: You're welcome. Jake?

Jake: Yeah?

Jared: Go home, sleep. You're practically a zombie because you're there so much.

Jake: I do sleep!

Embry: Go home, man.

Jake phased out and Embry and I both continued our runs, silently (as silent as you can be when you communicate through thoughts) thinking about our imprints. I finished my duties for the night and traded off positions with Leah while Embry traded with Seth, and ran home. I went in and said night to my mom, waited until she was asleep and then jumped through the window and ran through the woods back to Bella's. She was still asleep when I slipped through her open window, I think she was having a nightmare though. She was thrashing around and mumbling, "No! Stop!" over and over again.

She had been having nightmares about seeing Victoria bite Emily for the whole month since it happened, though in her nightmares she went further and Emily turned in to a vampire too. I climbed in next to her and wrapped my arms round her, she slowly calmed down and her eyes opened a little as she kissed me, then she drifted back off to sleep in my arms.

A/N: whoops, this chapter is incredibly long compared to the others! Hopefully it's not too much though, the scenes seemed to be flowing really nicely so i didnt see any point in seperating them up!
