A\N: I've had a lot of trouble in the past juggling more then two storylines (I have three developing now) so much so that it has caused some stories to go completely off course and unbelievable. That was a few years ago though and since then I've been careful of not having to many main storylines running at once. I feel confident this time though and I'll try to intertwine the storylines as much as I can. That being said though, there might be a few glitches in the storylines; so don't be afraid to let me know what I need to work on in the forum of a review or a PM. I am open to construsticve cristim and I don't easier get offended and upset.

Chapter 25
Gabby sat in the chair holding Matt's hand as the doctor's and nurses surrounded him. It had only been less then twenty minutes that he has been awake and they had come right away after Shay had gone to get them.
One doctor checked Matt's pupils another and another one checked his pulse.
The doctor examining his eyed was the first one to speak, "Do you know your name?"
"Matthew Casey. "
"What's your occupation?"
"I'm a truck Lieutenant at Firehouse fifty-one."
"Who's that?" The Neurologist pointed his pen at Gabby.
"My Fiancé Gabriela Dawson and those two babies in the stroller are our sons Javier and Rafael."
"Do you know the year?"
"2014."
"Okay," The Doctor finished writing some notes, "Very good Lt. Casey. You've been in a coma for almost two weeks and prior to that you were suffering from a severe case of amnesia. Do you remember anything before that?"
"The last thing I remember is another car hitting mine."
"That was almost three weeks ago."
"Wow," Matt breathed out, "So its almost June?"
"Yes." The doctor confirmed. "Now I have other patients to see but in a few hours I'll be back to do some more tests. See how you're improving." And with that he left the room.
Another doctor came in; it was Dr. Hanna Matt main physician "Well," he looked at Matt's chart as he put his stethoscope around his neck and put on his glasses to look closer at Matt's chart, "let's see..hmm.. Everything looks good vital signs are good; but we'll have to give you an MRI and run some more tests to be 100% sure but by these numbers, it's looks like you'll make a full recovery Lt. Casey."
Gabby sigh a relief and squeezed Matt's hand, "How long will his recovery take?"
"About Four to Six months," Dr. Hanna answered, "All depends on what the MRI tells us. I'll go book it now see if I can get a spot tomorrow."
"Thanks Doctor Gabby smiled back
"When can I go home?" Matt croaked out; his voice weak and scratchy due to him being in a coma for so long.
Dr. Hanna chuckled, "In two weeks or so. Why you don't like it here?"
"No," Matt attempted a laugh.
"Well in the meantime I'll see what I can do about getting you into a recovery unit."
"Thanks."
Dr. Hanna nodded and out Matt's chart back at the end of his bed before leaving the room and shutting the door.
Rafael and Javier had slept through all of the commotion but as soon as Dr. Hanna left the room their eyes shot open and they began to scream from the stroller.
"Let me hold one," Matt looked at his fiancée "I need to see them."
Feeling tears fall down her face she nodded her head and took Rafael out of his car seat and handed him to Matt who carefully sat up to hold his infant son.
"Hey buddy," He kissed the boys hair full of dark curls, "You've gotten so big."
Rafael snuggled in close to his father and looked up at him while yawned.
"Yeah they're almost a month old," Gabby settled in the chair next to the bed holding Javier.
"Wow," Matt said and he almost couldn't believe it, "I missed so much," He frowned, "I'm so sorry I put you through that?" He turned to look at Gabby.
At his words Gabby began to sob, "Matt! It….it was…. It was my fault…..I made you leave…. If I hadn't this wouldn't have happened."
"No, no Gabby," Matt stroked her hand with his thumb, "It was an accident what you did had nothing to do with it. We both were in the wrong."
"I want us to be a family Matt. To get married and have more children."
"Me too babe."
The walls in the basement were half-finished and the rooms needed to be finished but Antonio could picture it working; and as he looked at Diego's science experiments and other things in the corner an idea popped into his head, one he was surprised hadn't been considered before.
Turning around he walked back up the stairs to the main level and into the kitchen where Laura was cleaning the counters. He walked towards her and wrapped her in his arms gently taking the cloth away from her, "You shouldn't be doing that."
She turned around and stared at him, "I'm just cleaning off the last little bit. Eva and Diego finished cleaning up a few minutes ago." She explained, "What's up?" She asked, knowing her husband had something on his mind.
"I was thinking we could expand the project downstairs a bit and make a room for Diego."
"No way. Diego's too young to be living downstairs. I can't believe you'd even consider that after-"
"I'm not. I don't like the idea of him down there either. I'm not talking about a bedroom though, just a room where he can do his homework and keep all his science things in. A place he can go to if his room gets to noisy. I think that might help him feel a little better about all of this."
"I don't know Antonio that might seem as if we're encouraging his behavior."
"Eva was upset at first too."
"Not as much and its different with her we were able to talk about it; with Diego he gets defensive and snarky every time it's mentioned."
Antonio rubbed his chin, "His attitude is starting to become somewhat of a problem."
"Yeah it is," Laura agreed. "Its been getting worse since he was kidnapped. Maybe we should book him another appointment with the psychologist."
"Yeah maybe."
"Mom, Dad" Diego walked into the kitchen, "Mark is going to the park to practice baseball with his older brother. Can I go?"
Looking at the clock on the stove Laura saw it was only a little after noon; "Is all your homework done?"
"No, but can I finish it tomorrow?"
"Uh…" Laura tried to think of another way to keep Diego at home.
"Forget it!" Diego's voice rose at a steady rate, "I'll just go upstairs and do my homework!" He turned and stormed out of the room.
Sighing Laura squeezed the counter, "I just can't Antonio. I know we need to let him have the same freedoms he did before but I just can't stop worrying about him," She cried into his t-shirt.
"Ssh baby," He comforted, "I know it's hard. I'm scared too."
"Mom, Dad," Eva walked into the kitchen, "Can I go to the mall with Courtney and Becca? Courtney's Mom is driving us and there and shopping by herself while we do the same."
"Okay but text one of us when you're leaving and if you want to stay at one of there houses,"
"Great thanks," Eva grinned as she turned and walked out again.
Diego who had come out of his room to retrieve some binders from the kitchen had heard the entire thing, and as he walked back into the kitchen was livid with anger.
"THAT'S NOT FAIR! WHY ARE YOU LETTING HER LEAVE?" He demanded, "WHY?"
Laura had never heard her son yell so loud and her first instinct was to yell at him back but she soon realized that would only escalate the problem further.
"ITS NOT JUST BECAUSE SHE'S OLDER! IT'S BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED ISN'T IT?"
"Diego," Antonio was firm, "Lower your voice and then we'll talk about it."
"No we won't. No we won't do anything. I want to be normal Dad. I just want to be normal again." He cried and suddenly Antonio realized his son had only just turned eight before he was kidnapped.
"I know you do buddy," He walked up to him and pulled him into a hug, "I know you want to forget."
Diego sobbed into his father's t-shirt before finally pulling back and looking at both of his parents, "I feel like I'm being punished. I can't do anything and it'll only get worse after the babies are born. You'll be so focused on them you won't even notice me; I'll be invisible."
"Diego," Laura walked towards him, "We love you so much; when you were gone… I can't begin to explain how worried we were. And you were so brave after it happened too. Only one week later you were back at school and doing well in therapy. Your nightmares stopped honey but ours never did. I know it's hard for you to understand but we're not trying to punish you at all. We're simply just scared something will happen again."
"I'm scared to but Dad said you can't let fear control you."
"I did say that," Antonio confirmed.
Laura gave her husband an exasperated look before finally saying, "Alright Diego but I want you back here at two thirty at the latest."
"Okay Mom. I'll go and get my IPod," He ran up to his room to get his IPod, when he returned he showed his parents that he put it in his pocket and then gathered all of his baseball gear. "I'll be back at three thirty," He called over his shoulder as he walked out the front door.
Taking a deep breath Laura looked at her husband, "I know he'll be ok but I'm still worried."
"I know but I think you made the right decision."
"That doesn't make me feel any better about it."
"Mommy," Violet walked into the living room, "When are we leaving to pick Daddy up at the airport?" She asked sitting next to her mother on the couch a huge grin on her face, "After can we go see Uncle Mattie in the hospital?"
Christy almost spit out her coffee before regaining her balance; she had forgotten she had told her daughter that Jim would be home today. Now she wasn't sure what to do. Should she continue lying to her daughter or tell her the truth?
"Well Violet sweetheart Daddy… he decided to go stay a little longer in Los Angles to see some sights." She finally decided to continue the lie.
"Oh okay," Violet believed her mother, "So can we still see Uncle Mattie soon?" She wondered, "You're not still mad at him?" She hoped.
"Oh no sweetheart its just a little hard to explain but I love Uncle Mattie very much; he's my baby brother."
"Good" Violet jumped off the couch, "I'll go get some markers so I can color on his cast."
Christy watched her daughter disappear around the hallway and sighed to herself; she knew that at some point she would have to tell her the truth about what really happened but she couldn't find a way to tell her five year old daughter.
