Yugi and Jaden continued with their duel with the Chef and his wife on the table. The Chef had no monsters on the field, but two cards face-down. His wife held Woman Chef on the field and four face-down cards. They both held 3600 life points remaining.
On the other side of the field, Yugi had Mirage Dragon on the field and two face-down cards. Jaden had Elemental Hero Clayman in attack mode and one face-down card. They were left with 2700 life points. They knew they had to figure out a way to defeat the Chef and his wife to save Atem and the other victims.
"My turn!" Yugi announced as he drew his next card. "First, I'll use Book of Moon on Clayman, so he'll be put in face-down defense mode." Elemental Hero Clayman was flipped face-down in defense mode. "I play Marshmellon in defense mode!" Marshmellon appeared in a defense position. The Chef and his wife widened their eyes. "You're not the only one with a food monster. I fold one card and end my turn!"
"That's one delightful monster. Perhaps you do respect the delight of food!" The Chef said with a cheerful smile on his face. He drew his next card, then peered at his deck. "I use Monster Reborn to special summon my wife's Mystic Tomato!" Mystic Tomato appeared on the field. "Then I sacrifice him as part of my recipe! Come out Veggie Monster!" In place of Mystic Tomato, a huge monster with a bunch of vegetables all over it appeared with 2400 attack and 1600 defense.
"Now I know why I never ate my vegetables," Jaden responded.
"There's actually something you didn't eat?" Yugi asked teasingly.
"Oh, shut up! I was four!"
"And my Veggie Monster shall devour Yugi's Mirage Dragon!" The Chef smirked as Veggie Monster took its large fist and it came for the dragon.
"I reveal my face-down, Marshmellon Glasses! As long as Marshmellon is on the field face-up, your monsters can't choose any other target besides Marshmellon!" Yugi revealed as his face-down appeared and sunglasses with a picture of Marshmellon appeared on Woman Chef's and Veggie Monster's face. Veggie Monster landed its fist on Marshmellon, who splattered everywhere, then morphed back into its original form. "And it's a continuous spell, so I hope you guys have something up your sleeves!"
"You better believe we do!" The Chef glared. "I fold two cards and end my turn!"
"Then I go!" Jaden declared as he drew his next card. "I play E-Emergency Call by placing an Elemental Hero from my deck to my hand! Then, I play Fusion Sage! With this, I can add a Polymerization card from my deck to my hand, then shuffle my deck!" Jaden added an Elemental Hero and a Polymerization card, then shuffled his deck. "Now, I can fuse my Elemental Heroes Sparkman and Clayman to bring out Thunder Giant!" Elemental Hero Clayman and Elemental Hero Sparkman, from Jaden's hand, merged together in the light, and then Elemental Hero Thunder Giant appeared boldly on the field. "And with that I end my turn with one face-down card!"
"It seems you both are now starting to be unsure about attacking! We obviously can't attack with that Marshmellon Glasses on the field!" The Chef's Wife smirked. Yugi and Jaden gave sly smirks before the Chef's wife drew her next card. "I play Bus Boy in defense mode!" A boy with a tray of cleaning supplies appeared on the field with 1200 attack and 2000 defense. "With his special ability, if he's face-up in defense mode, he can attack directly and take away 1000 points during battle phase!"
"Oh crud!" Jaden responded as Bus Boy threw some dirty plates like a frisbee and hit Yugi and Jaden, leaving them with 1700 life points remaining. "Not good! That one really hit me there!"
Yugi could feel the outcome of the shadow game himself. His and Jaden's life points were starting to deplete. There was no doubt that the Chef and his wife were getting ahead of the game. If they didn't do something, they would lose the duel! Even Syrus and Zane could see the struggle Yugi and Jaden were facing.
"Co'mon Jaden, you can do this!" Syrus cheered.
"I hope you both know a way to turn this around, otherwise there might be a new King of Games," Zane said with folded arms.
"I hope you both know how to turn this around! Then again, I've heard Yugi Moto has a way of turning a duel around and Jaden has a way of drawing exactly what he needs. They might turn this around," The Chef shrugged as Yugi showed a smirk up his lips.
"You've got a point. Jaden and I have a thing for showing new surprises," Yugi smirked.
"Then let's see your surprises!" The Chef's wife said. "I end my turn!"
"My turn!" Yugi shouted boldly before drawing his next card. "I sacrifice my Mirage Dragon to bring out Summoned Skull!" Mirage Dragon disappeared from the field and a huge skeleton with bright lightning took its place. "With that, Summoned Skull attacks Woman Chef!" Burst of lightning came from Summoned Skull and was heading for Woman Chef before...
"I activate my trap, Negate Attack!" The Chef's Wife said, revealing her trap card.
"Then I activate mine, Dust Tornado!" Yugi declared, revealing his own trap card. "This destroys one one of your other spells or traps and I can set my own spell or trap in place of this one!"
"WHAT?" The Chef's Wife gasped as one of her other face-down cards was destroyed and wiped from the field.
"I end my turn!" Yugi declared.
"Then I go!" The Chef glared, drawing out his next card. "I play De-Spell to get rid of Yugi's Marshmellon Glasses!" Yugi's Marshmellon Glasses was destroyed and evaporated from the field. "Then I reveal my face-down Stop Defense to force your Marshmellon into attack mode!" Yugi and Jaden gasped as Marshmellon was forced into attack mode. "Now my Veggie Monster, attack Marshmellon!"
"JADEN! YUGI!" Syrus cried aloud as Veggie Monster began shooting vegetables from itself toward Marshmellon. If the attack was sucessful, Yugi and Jaden would lose the game.
"I ACTIVATE MY TRAP CARD, SECRET MISSION!" Jaden declared with a sly smirk up his lips. "This negates your attack and you must choose to rather end the battle phase or choose one of our monsters face-down in attack mode and attack one of them. If it's the wrong monster, you might take damage."
"I'll end the battle phase!" The Chef chose, not wanting to take chances.
"Thanks for the save, Jaden," Yugi thanked his partner.
"No problem, Yuge," Jaden replied. Yugi showed a small smile. He was glad he chose Jaden as his dueling partner or he would've lost this turn.
"I place one card face-down and end my turn!" The Chef declared.
"Then it's my draw!" Jaden said before drawing his next card. He peered at his deck. "I play O-Oversoul by summoning one Elemental Hero from my graveyard and I choose my Bubbleman!" Elemental Hero Bubbleman came from the graveyard and onto the field in attack mode. "Then I reveal my face-down Bubble Shuffle! With this, I change my Bubbleman to defense mode, then I can tribute this to special summon an Elemental Hero from my hand! COME OUT OUT NEOS!" Elemental Hero Bubbleman disappeared from the field and replaced with Elemental Hero Neos, who stood boldly onto the field. "I also play my other face-down R-Rightous Justice! This destroys the number of your spells and traps depending on the number of my Elemental Hero monsters I control and I choose two of yours!" Jaden pointed to the Chef as he gasped in horror of his two folded cards being wiped from the field. "NEOS! TIME TO TAKE OUT WOMAN CHEF!" Neos jumped in the air and punched Woman Chef, leaving the Chef and his wife with 3200 life points remaining. "Now, it's my Thunder Giant's turn!" Elemental Hero Thunder Giant charged a huge ball of electricity and shot it at Bus Boy, destroying it. "I place one card face-down and end my turn!"
"Then looks like it's my turn!" The Chef's Wife said before drawing her next card. "I will use my spell card Jambalaya! With this, I can add up to three food monsters from my graveyard and I summon back Hamburger Helper!" Hamburger Helper appeared on the Chef's Wife's side of the field. "Then, I equip Hamburger Helper with Favor, this increases any food monster's attack up to 500 points!" Hamburger Helper's attack points rose to 2600. "Now, Hamburger Helper attacks Marshmellon!"
"I knew you would attack Marshmellon!" Yugi smirked before revealing his face-down card. "I reveal Attack Negate!" Hamburger Helper's attack stopped dead in its tracks.
"Then I end my turn!" The Chef's Wife declared.
"Then I go!" Yugi smirked before drawing his next card. He glanced at Jaden who gave a smirk, then a nod. "First I'll place one monster face-down!" a card appeared on the field. "Then I play Heavy Storm!" The Chef and his wife gasped as all their cards vanished from the field. "Now, you are wide open and will be finished during this whole turn!"
"WHAT?" The Chef and his wife exclaimed.
"You serious?" Zane asked in shock. Then again, this was the King of Games. Still, it seemed impossible to defeat the Chef and his wife, who held a remaining 3200 they had to get rid of.
"I am!" Yugi smirked.
"Sy, you're gonna wanna watch this. This is when Yugi starts getting awesome!" Jaden told Syrus, whose eyes widened with enthusiasm.
"First, I'll put Marshmellon in defense mode, then I'll have Summoned Skull attack Hamburger Helper!" Yugi said as Summoned Skull struck Hamburger Helper with lightning and left the Chef and his wife with a remaining 2800 life points. "Then, I'll play Pot of Greed and end my turn!" Yugi drew two extra cards into his deck. "My partner will make the finishing blow with our trump card!"
"We'll see about that!" The Chef glared before drawing his next card. "I equip my Veggie Monster with Blustering Winds, this gives my monster an extra 1000 attack and defense points!" Veggie Monster's attack points increased to 3400 and its defense 2600. "He also attacks your Neos!" Veggie Monster shot vegetables at Elemental Hero Neos and left Yugi and Jaden with a remaining 1400 life points. "Still think you're gonna take me and my wife out this turn?"
"No doubt!" Yugi smirked.
"Dido!" Jaden winked.
"Then I play Pot of Greed and draw two new cards..." The Chef said before drawing two extra cards. "Then, place two cards face-down, ending my turn!"
"Then it's time for me to end this!" Jaden smirked before drawing his next card. "I activate a spell from my hand called Book of Taiyou! This forces a face-down monster into attack face-up and I choose Yugi's monster!" Yugi's face-down monster flipped into attack mode, revealing as Magician of Faith.
"HA! THAT WORTHLESS MONSTER AIN'T GONNA HURT US!" The Chef mocked.
"Yes, but you forget Magician of Faith's special ability. If flipped, I can select one spell card from my graveyard and I choose Hero Flash!" Jaden declared as he recovered Hero Flash.
"HERO FLASH?" Syrus gasped. "You never used that card! That means..."
"It was taken by Heavy Storm!" Jaden finished.
"So Yugi used Heavy Storm for more than taking away their cards, he purposly took away Hero Flash as well," Zane said in amazement. "I can't even predict that far ahead into the game. This is incredible."
"This can only come from Jaden working with the King of Games. When they're together..." Syrus whispered to himself.
"Hero Flash sends H-Heated Heart, E-Emergency Calling, O-Oversoul, and R-Righteous Justice from play and summons out one normal Elemental Hero monster, COME ON NEOS!" Jaden declared as Neos appeared in attack mode.
"Yes, but how is he gonna end us, even if you do successfully attack our monsters?" The Chef's Wife asked. "We still have 2800 life points left!"
"But not only does Hero Flash bring back Neos, but he can also attack you directly!" Yugi pointed out as the Chef and his wife gasped.
"YOU KNEW WE WOULD ATTACK NEOS?" The Chef gasped in horror. "How can you predict that far ahead?"
"Actually, we predicted that far ahead," Jaden corrected before him and Yugi gave a high five. "We're a team and we're strong as one. NEOS, ATTACK THEM DIRECTLY!" Neos flew in the air and attacked the Chef and his wife directly, leaving them with 300 points left. "And I still have my Thunder Giant!"
"But your Thunder Giant has only 2400 attack, the same as Veggie Monster!"
"Not if I equip Thunder Giant with Elemental Sword! This raises its attack to 800 if the monster its fighting is of a different attribute, which is obviously plant-type!" Jaden said as Thunder Giant was shown a large sword and its attack points rose to 3200. "And it attacks your Veggie Monster! As they say in old Mexico, Hasta Lavista baby!"
"You've been having a Terminator marathon again, haven't you?" Yugi asked.
"Sure have!" Jaden grinned.
Thunder Giant created a ball of electrical energy and shot it at Veggie Monster, leaving the Chef and his wife with 0 life points. Yugi and Jaden found themselves being transported to another realm. This time, they found themselves in the middle of some landmass surrounded by lava. Yugi had a bad feeling about this place.
"Jaden, be careful!" Yugi warned Jaden as he gasped and backed up toward Yugi.
"I hate this!" Jaden said, trying to back from the lava.
A maniacal laugh was heard throughout the place. Yugi glared, knowing that laugh was from non other than Rath himself. He stood up on his feet boldly.
"Where are you, you coward? Show yourself!" Yugi dared the villain.
"Patients! You have proven worthy, just as I imagined! Right now, I want to have a little fun with the both of you!" Rath explained as an echoing voice.
"And what do you mean by fun, exactly?" Jaden asked with threat.
"I've just been playing around with some people I think one or both will find quite familiar! These two seem worthy with being against you in a duel, but just let me warn you, this duel will be far worse than the one with Trudge and Adrian! They were worthless!"
Yugi glared with bravery written on his face. He wasn't going to let Rath get the best of him and he certainly was going to be there for Jaden. The boy needed Yugi to be strong and supportive. It was already bad enough to deal with his inner darkness that was so hard to control wasn't even funny. Yugi was willing to be there for Jaden no matter what.
The landmass began rowing through the river of lava and began taking them toward another landmass with two people in it, who also held Double-Duel Disks. Yugi stared at the two opponents, who seemed very familiar, but were too far to recognize. Though, as soon as their picture was starting to come out, Yugi felt his face go pale. He didn't want this to be true, but it was. It was the thief king and Marik's darker half.
"Well, well, look who grew up!" Yami Marik smirked so aggressively.
"How did you get out of the Shadow Realm?" Yugi asked in fury.
"The same way Rath got your precious pharaoh out from the Underworld! Rath made a deal to let us hang out of the Shadow Realm, if we can give you a chance to have a taste of it, but this won't just be any shadow game!" The Thief King Bakura smirked before him and his partner turned on their Double-Duel Disks.
"The last time I played with the Pharaoh, a part of you was sent to the shadow realm, but I'm wanting something a little worse than that!" Yami Marik smirked.
"Oh no," Jaden muttered.
"Every time we destroy one of your monsters, someone precious to you will be found in the Shadow Realm!" The Thief King explained. "Of course, that doesn't include your precious pharaoh, so you won't have to worry about him, Yugi."
"YOU LEAVE MY FRIENDS OUT OF THIS!" Yugi yelled.
"Testy, testy, just like the pharaoh. I guess you must've gotten some things from him."
"Also, whosever friend is sent to the shadow realm depends on whose monster is destroyed on the field. In other words, if Jaden's monster is destroyed, one of his friends gets sent to the Shadow Realm," Yami Marik smirked.
"You leave them alone!" Jaden yelled with his eyes turning multicolored.
"Then let us begin! This should be quite fun!"
