Alas, I fear we have reached the end of our journey. Chapter twenty five is hear and so I hope you will enjoy this last scene with Amora and Jack.
Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Rise of the Guardians.
I do own Amora Summer though.
Amora stood patiently in the center of the globe room as North went through his long speech. The other guardians looked like bored as if they had heard it hundreds of times, which they probably had.
All of the others had healed more quickly than she and Jack. One of Tooth's arms was still in bandages, and there were still small cuts on Bunny's right ear, but they were minor injuries. Sandy and North seemed to be completely healed from their altercation with Doubt. Amora had been afraid that they would never trust her after everything that had happened, but they had welcomed her back with open arms and only a tiny bit of mouth molestation.
The elves began playing music and Phil the yeti delivered the book to North, cutting off his speech.
North sent them a short and harmless glare before opening to the correct page. He stepped forward and Amora felt a sudden and nervous flutter in her stomach.
"Do you, Amora Summer, vow to watch over the ch-" he glanced up at her, she had asked him to make one slight change to the oath, "the people of Earth, to guide them safely from the ways of harm, to keep happy their hearts, brave their souls and rosy their cheeks, to guard with your life their hopes, and their dreams, for they are all that you have, all that you are, and all that you will ever be?"
"I do." There was fanfare and trumpets sounding, but Amora felt no different. The responsibility of being a guardian was something that she had tasked herself with since discovering her center.
She believed that love was the ultimate salvation from any form of misery. She took it upon herself to make the world a less miserable place, becoming a guardian only made it official.
"Congratulation you are now guardian." North was practically cheering. Elves trailed out of the hallways with platter upon platter of cookies. Amora slipped off to where Jack was standing. He was leaning against the railing overlooking the globe.
"Hey there snowball," he turned to face her, the way he looked at her with so much adoration caused the ever present blush to rush to her cheeks. He smiled and brushed his fingers along her cheek. She leaned her head into his cool touch, sighing contently as his fingers played with a piece of her hair.
"I guess we'll be seeing a lot more of each other, huh."
"Yeah, I guess. Now Daisy, and Brendan can get off my ass about stealing their season." He raised an eyebrow at her.
"Who?" he asked taking a step closer. She put her hand over his and pulled it away from her face so she could look at it. His hands were rough from his human life in the seventeen hundreds, but there was gentleness to them, almost a delicacy, though she would never say that to him. His fingers were long and nimble, yet still strong and confident.
"Um, Daisy and Brendan, they're the spring and autumn spirits." She began to trace the lines in his hands with her fingers.
"There are other seasonal spirits?" he asked, she looked up from his hand and into his eyes.
"Yeah, think about it, spring and fall happen all over the world, we only share it in Burgess; maybe some of the surrounding area."
"So then why have we been doing it if it's their season?" he asked, Amora glanced away, a small smile on her mouth and the blush on her cheeks growing deeper by the second.
"I may have been using it as an excuse to spend time with you." She said quietly, Jack had to lean in very close to hear her answer. When she looked up at him their noses were almost touching. She blinked in surprise, obviously not expecting him to be as close as he was. She tried to pull back, but Jack wasn't having that.
He wound his arms around her waist and pulled her to him. She, in turn, wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You're not getting away from me that easily." He whispered into her ear. Amora shivered, but not from the cold. She laughed lightly and planted a kiss on his lips. It wasn't forceful or passionate, but it conveyed everything that was left unsaid. And just to be sure he got the message she said it anyways.
"I love you." When she said it now, she was not afraid of rejection. She stared into his crystal blue eyes and smiled the goofy smile of a woman in love. His face mirrored hers.
"I love you too." This time when they kissed it was not chaste or careful. This kiss was full of passion and love. It was deep and borderline inappropriate for company; when Amora let out a soft moan into Jack's lips it was no longer borderline.
"Ay, lovebirds!" Bunny shouted, they broke apart and looked over to see that they did in fact have an audience. Though North and Sandy looked slightly approving they were hiding it behind not very convincing looks of disapproval. Tooth however was not even bothering to mask her absolute joy for the couple. A wide smile adorned her face and she looked like if she had been standing she would be jumping for joy, "get a room." Both Jack and Amora blushed varying shades of blue and red, but Amora wasn't about to give up her perfect moment.
She grabbed Jack's hand and began to pull him towards a hallway.
"Where are we going?" he asked, she turned to face him, she hovered so she could whisper in his ear.
"We're taking his advice and getting a room." She pulled back and smiled with satisfaction at the dumbfounded look on his face. His eyes were wide with disbelief and the blue blush that was already on his cheeks began to turn a startling shade of purple. She trailed a finger down his arm until she reached his hand. "So are you coming or not?" she floated down the hallway, lightly tugging on his arm. It seemed to yank him out of his stupor and he smiled.
"Right behind you." He turned towards the guardians and gave a two fingered salute before flying after Amora, excited for their 'alone time.'
Well there you have it. It was such a happy ending, I'm quite proud of myself. I was thinking of possibly doing a sequel story, tell me what you think of that idea. As always reviews are much appreciated and I encourage you to do so if the mood strikes.
