Chapter 49

A Little Surprise

Ariel gapped at the man in front of her. Jim always told her that his father was dead. She took Sinbad's hand once more. "Hello I'm Ari-" she stopped as her hand started to burn. Ariel looked down to see Sinbad's hand on fire. In an instant Ariel turned her hand into water. The fames on Sinbad's hand hiss as they went out. Ariel was handless until water changed into her hand again. Once it was her solid hand again she started to rub it.

"Your power is water huh?" Sinbad suggested as he watched the water form into her hand. Ariel clasped her hand tightly.

"Yes," she confirmed not looking at him. Sinbad turned to Jim who was still playing with his fire.

"That is dangerous Jim," Sinbad said sternly. Jim shrugged like he couldn't care less.

"It hasn't seemed to hurt either of us."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sinbad asked puzzled as Jim's cheeks flushed pink thinking of what he had just said. Jim folded his hand as he did his flames disappeared.

"Nothing," Jim rushed as he placed his hand into his pocket. Sinbad was going to reply but felt something in his hand. He opened his hand up to see a blue gemmed ring. He picked it up in between his finger and thumb studying it.

"This yours?" He asked Ariel motioning the ring towards her. Ariel took the ring from him.

"Yes," she sighed with relieve as she placed the ring back onto her wedding finger.

"You guys are engaged?" Sinbad asked puzzled as he looked from each of them.

"What? I didn't know her power was water," Jim said defensibly as his mother looked at him. Ariel thought for a moment then realised something. She remembered the reunion with Jim so many nights ago. She hadn't thought about it till just now. She placed her hand on her abdomen as she thought.

"Jim," Ariels worried voice brought his eyes to her.

He studied her worried face, "what is it Ariel?" he asked concerned.

Ariel looked up from him wide eye, "how long have I been under the sea for?"

Jim thought for a moment, "why? What's wrong?" Ariel made her way to him and held his hands in a tight grip.

"Just tell me," she pleaded.

"Uhh. . ." Jim thought for a moment, "five…months? I think?" Ariel dropped his hands and stared into space. Jim clasped her shoulders worriedly, "Ariel what's wrong?" Attina studied the scene in front of her. Her memory flashed back to when they were in the crowd of mer-people watching the human execution.

"Finns right Attina," Ariel's voice said. She took a hold of Attina's hands, "I didn't know Jim had powers. Until…."

"Until..?" Attina asked. Ariel dropped Attina's hands.

"Nothing," she rushed turning away a little red.

The flash back ended then flashed to another one of Jim.

"That is dangerous Jim," Sinbad's warning voice said. Jim shrugged carelessly.

"I hasn't seemed to hurt either of us."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sinbad asked curiously. Jim blushed, folded his hand as he did the flames disappeared.

"Nothing," he rushed.

Attina gasped in sudden realisation. "Ariel!" Ariel looked at her sister. A single tear fell from her eye.

"Im sorry Attina," she said as she swallowed the lump in her throat. Jim watched as the sisters stared at each other.

"Ariel what is wrong?" Jim asked afraid. Ariel turned to him slowly not looking at him.

"Jim im-ow!" Ariel grabbed her gut and bent forward.

"Ariel!" Jim cried out as he went after her. Ariel stood up straight as if nothing had happened.

"I'm sorry, that just frightened me. It was the first time," Ariel said as if nothing had happen. Jim exchanged looks with Sarah.

"Ariel, are you alright?" Jim asked making sure she was.

"Yeah, yeah I am," Ariel said waving her hands around.

"Ariel, are you sure?" Sarah walked towards her resting a hand on her shoulder. Ariel smiled at Sarah.

"Yes I am. Couldn't be happier," Ariel used her eyes to motion down to her abdomen. Sarah was confused as Ariels eyes dashed back and forth. Ariel sighed heavily and looked down. Sarah followed her eyes. Sarah couldn't see anything wrong. Ariel guessed she couldn't and turned a little to her side. Sarah squealed in excitement as she looked at Ariel' side.

"Oh Ariel!" Sarah said as she pulled her into a hug.

"I knew it!" Attina said as she ran to her sister's side.

"I did know it," Belle said as she stood beside Attina. Sarah pulled out of their hug.

"Oh I can't believe this!"

"Umm what's going on?" Jim asked as he stood among the confused guys. The group of girls turned to the confused boys.

"Uhh well…" Sarah started.

"Sarah, what's going on?" Sinbad asked as he stepped forward.

"More importantly," Jim said stepping in front of Sinbad, "what's wrong Ariel?"

Ariel started to giggle, everyone turned to her amazed. She started to laugh. "Oh Jim," she said as she walked toward him. "We ave been so foolish," she said as she took a hold of his hands.

"What?" Jim asked even more confused.

"Jim," Ariel started with a huge smile. She placed his hand across her abdomen. It wasn't long before Jim felt a tiny kick. Jim jumped back surprized.

"No way," Jim said with a smile.

Ariel nodded, "Jim I'm pregnant!"

Chapter 50

Joining the Crew

With a laugh Jim picked Ariel up and spun her around. Ariel laughed as he placed her down again. "Well this is some news," Sinbad said as he stared at the couple.

"Not only that father," Dimitri said.

"Dimitri? Not you too," Sinbad said with a sigh as he covered his face with his hand.

Dimitri chuckled, "no, not that." He held out his hand toward Belle. Belle smiled and took it. Dimitri pulled her toward him, "Belle finally said yes." The girls squealed.

"Oh, a baby and a wedding!" Sarah said spinning around in excitement. "Oh Sinbad our family is together again, and growing."

Sinbad sighed blissfully, "so it is."

"Sinbad," Sinbad turned to Jim.

"Yes Jim?" He replied. Jim turned from Ariel so his back was facing her. Ariel held his hand from behind.

"If we want to keep this family together you must promise you will be there for them, your grandkids," Jim said raising his right hand, "promise?" Sinbad smiled and raised his right hand too.

"As long as you promise not to leave yours, I don't want you to make my own mistake." Jim smiled at Sinbad's words. He shook his father's hand and it erupted into flames.

"Promise," Jim said proudly. Sinbad smiled and did the same as Jim.

"Promise," Sinbad said as they shook hands.

"Well then, what are you doing here dad?" Jim asked when he pulled his hand away. The flames vanished as he did. Sinbad smiled.

"Picking you guys up, I hear you like saving people, am I correct?"

"You are correct indeed sir," Finn said as he stepped out in front of Sinbad. Sinbad looked him up and down in surprise. He hadn't noticed Finn.

"And who are you son?"

"Finn, I have the earth power," Finn said as he turned his hand into rock. "I have been accompanying Jim on our last missions."

"Very good," Sinbad praised with a smile. He then noticed Attina, "and what of you dear?" Attina smiled at Sinbad kindly.

"Attina, daughter of Triton, I have magic." Sinbad thought for a moment.

"Both of your powers are good, we will need them. You are more than welcome to join the crew." Finn and Attina smiled as the bowed.

"Thank you for having us," Finn said as he stood again.

"Thank you for protecting my son," Sinbad said as he clasped Jim's shoulder.

"Hey I could have done it myself!" Jim said with a smile.

"Right, that's why you needed me to get you out of that cage before you drowned," Ariel teased with a smile.

"Ariel shh," Jim said as he turned to her hold a hand over her mouth. Ariel giggled behind Jim's hand. Sinbad shook his head and turned to Belle.

"What of you?"

"I know things," Belle replied.

"What kind of things?" Sinbad asked curiously.

"Visions, but I will not tell all," Belle said simply.

"Fair enough," Sinbad said as he walked over to Sarah. "Welcome to the aboard the Hawkins crew you new comers."

"Well since that is settled," Dimitri said turning Belle into his arms. "Time for other things," he said as he kissed her.
