Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter
Prompt: Five minutes to midnight
Character(s): Marcus Flint
This was it. It had finally come. His chance at being remembered. Marcus Flint had always been a rather talented chaser and this was the greatest recognition of that that he could receive. He had been made captain of the Slytherin quidditch team. This was his chance to show them. To show everyone how good he truly was. Marcus had been so excited when he'd first seen the proud looks on his parents' faces, not that he'd ever admit that. This was all he had wanted. His elder siblings had not achieved anything at Hogwarts but by now they all had respectable jobs and for some obscure reason Marcus couldn't understand, that made them more special in the eyes of his parents. But that was no longer the situation now, was it? He was the captain of a quidditch team. Captain Flint. He could barely wait to beat the Gryffindor team. It wouldn't matter if the Gryffindorks had their star seeker Potter. No. Marcus would find someone better. He would put together a team that would crush the Gryffindors and make sure that he'd be remembered. He had been staring at the badge for hours now. He clutched it in his hand and smiled into the midnight darkness of his bedroom. Five more minutes and a new day would begin. The day that would bring the inevitable journey to King's Cross and from there, to Hogwarts where the talents he knew he'd always possessed would finally be given the recognition they deserved.
