Hey guys. I'm back! I know it's been a while, but please don't be mad. I won't go into how much stuff I've been doing, that involves band. I'll just give you another chapter of Tale of A Roman Goddess. Enjoy!
Fang POV:
It's been a while since Max left me to my thoughts, most of them were actually about her. The way she smiled at me before she left made me heart skip a beat, but I tried really hard to make it obvious that she can have that effect on me. Is this what it feels like to be in love with someone? Something as simple as a smile could send you to another level of joy, just like realizing that you actually love them and they love you back. Whenever Max tells me she loves me I can barely believe it myself that someone outside of my family could actually love me. I'd have to say that my life of having needless flings with women came to a sudden stop when those words left her lips.
I rake my hand through my hair right before I just start smiling. Only she could make me smile just thinking about her. I sigh and roll on my side. Max, what have you done to me? I'm so distracted by my thoughts that I jump when I hear a knock at the door.
"Fang? Can I come in?" it was Iggy.
"Of course Igs." I sit up when he opens the door and takes a seat on the bed next to me. I could see by the look on his face that this coversation we were about to have could go either way. Either he would curse me out about what happened or he might take my side on what Dylan did. Everyone knows that me and Dylan haven't gotten along in a while, so me punching shouldn't have been a surprise. I mean, it seems like that would've happened any day now. The only question was who would be the one to throw that fateful punch, turns out it was me. Now there was the threat of war. At this very moment, my father was negotiating with Dylan on how he could keep his mouth shut on the altercation. I really wasn't worrying about it though because this my father's department. He was a great negotiatior, so whatever deal he strikes with Dylan could come anytime soon. I just wonder what Dylan could possibly want to keep this our little secret.
Iggy sighs loudly and shakes his head. "Fang, what the hell were you thinking?" I heave a sigh of my own and close my eyes.
"I saw this coming."
"Fang that was dumb as hell! Father is sitting in his chamber trying to keep Dylan from running home and telling his father what happened here! Just what were you thinking? Please tell me, I want to know." I open my eyes, push my hand through my hair and sigh again. My gods, you'd think we were talking about someone dying with all this sighing we've done in the last five minutes.
"Igs, I wasn't. I wasn't thinking. I went off of my emotions. He said something about Max and I-"
"Oh gods!" Iggy threw his arms into the air dramatically before he started shaking his head like a father would do if he saw his child had broken a vase.
"What?"
"Fang, you two have been going at it for years. You two need to just hug and get over what rivalry you have or at least come to an agreement where one doesn't hit the other. Now father has to sit there and talk to him about preventing a war." I rub my temples in frustration. I couldn't tell anyone how tired I was of hearing this. I know what I did was stupid but ever since the others found out about Dylan, it's like they all turned into a broken record.
"Iggy I realize what I did was stupid, as far as I'm conerned I want nothing more to do with Dylan. There won't be anymore of this 'preventing a war' talk going around this house. You have my word on this." If his face was anything to go by I didn't think he believed me.
"Fang, you can say all you want to me but it doesn't erase the fact that it happened and now our father is in a heated conversation with him. You have to get your temper under control because whether you like it or not you are gonig to be-"
"Iggy I know!" I couldn't let him say it. I knew what he was going to say. He was going to say something about me becoming king. Out of frustration I rub my hand through my hair. As much as I didn't want to face it, Iggy was right. Father would die soon and since neither him or Gazzy could take the throne it would have no choice but it drop it's heavy weight on me; flattening me in the process.
"Fang, I'm sorry but it's going to happen. Just know that you're not alone in this. You have us." He gestures his hand outward. I know he's talking about the family. I still have my mother, and the others: Gazzy, Nudge, and Angel. And now, Max is here too. From what I see as long as I have them, taking the throne might not be as bad as I think. I nod my head.
"You're right Igs. Thanks." He smiles at me and the depressing feeling that oozed out of this conversation disappeared; it was lighter.
"I'm your brother. I'm supposed to help you when you're worried about stuff." I nod, a smile coming over my lips. "And tell you when you've done something really stupid." That smile I had quickly disappears.
"You've successfully done that, brother." He nods.
"And take any annoying girls off your hands. I've heard that woman like a blind man. Since I can't see, I have to do a lot more tounching to figure out where I'm going." I laughed when he started to move his hands thorugh the air like it was a voluptuous woman. Only this idiot could make me laugh at a time like this.
"Maybe when I'm king I could have that arranged." He gives a devilish grin before moving his hands in more erotic ways through the air. I didn't say it then but one of the first things I'd when I became king was finally introduce the hidden part of my famliy. Finally the kingdom would know about my entire famliy. I catch myself in the middle of the laugh when the door opens suddenly. I turn my head to see who could be so rude as to not knock and come face to face with the source this war dilemma, well, besides me.
Dylan stood with a bandage over his nose, his arms crossed, and a smug smile on his face. I could feel my anger from before come back with a vengeance when his eyes went between me and Iggy. This was the third time the atmosphere changed; it got a violent electricity around it.
"Dylan? What're you doing here?" Iggy asked. Dylan looked to him and smiled.
"Hello there Iggy. It's been a while." Dylan and his father found out about the others because, even as a child, Dylan was an ass and when he and his father would visit my father would instruct the others to stay hidden in different parts of the house, so that no one could find them. These places were often restricted to visitors but during a visit Dylan got nosey. He found Iggy and soon reported finding him to his father. His father promised not to speak of them to anyone.
"It has." Dylan's smile gets bigger as he continues to look at Iggy. Then he looks at me, and if it was possible for your cheeks to split from smiling so much his shurely would have.
"Am I interrupting something?"
"No." Iggy speaks before I can.
"Oh good." Dylan steps in further and runs his hands through his hair. "I have some great news!"
"What is it?" I decided I'd just leave the talking to Iggy.
"Your father and I have come to an agreement. There will not be a war between our two countries." I could finally breathe a sigh of relief for that issue and Iggy actually started clappnig his hands enthusiastically. "Yes! The war has been avoided!" But I knew there was a catch. What did my father have to do to keep his quiet?
"What did you and my father agree on?" I ask through gritted teeth. Dylan flips his blond hair before he comes closer and leans on my bed. It took all I had not to go after him now. Of course that would only cause another war meeting.
"Well Fang, what me and your father agreed on to stop the war was that I'd get whatever I wanted from this kingdom." I raise an eyebrow.
"And what was that?" He chuckles.
"What I wanted to return for keeping my mouth shut about the war was-" He stopped for dramatic effect before the said the thing that would've caused us to have another altercation if Iggy hadn't stepped in. "Max. I want Max." Anger hits me again and I'm blinded by it. I jump at him but Iggy catches me and pulls me back. I do my best to bring free from his grip but he not letting me go which was definitely a good idea.
"You-!"
"Fang, just accept it. I asked your father if I could have Max as physical evidence that I won't speak of your temper tantrum and save both our kingdoms the stress of readying for battle with one another. She seems like a nice trade, don't you think? You give me Max and in return thousands of your people avoid being killed because you wanted to a three old that didn't get the toy he wanted." He looks at me and smiles. "That's a pretty good trade if you ask me."
"You sick-!" I push against Iggy again but he wasn't letting up. "Iggy let me go! Let me go!"
"Fang we just avoided one bullet. Don't risk another please!" When he said that I finally stopped fighting him but I wasn't done being upset. What the hell was my father thinking? He knows I love Max! Why would he GIVE HER AWAY to this bitch of a man!
"Dylan, you're not getting Max. I will not let you have her." This seemed to amuse him because he laughed.
"OKay, then I will go home and tell my father what you did. You risking thousand's lives over the life of one woman. Fang, think about what you're doing." I wait for Iggy to let go before I speak again.
"I know what I'm doing. I 'm not going to let you have her. I love her too much to just let you take her away from me easily. You better look for something else to trade in order to ensure you stay silent."
"Oh, no Fang. I don't think so. I want Max and that's final. I really want nothing else from this place. I actually came here for she told you about our kiss yet? Max wants me, Fang. She just doesn't want to tell you because she's worried about what you'll do. I mean, she's seen your temper and how much of a baby you can be." I couldn't believe it.
"How delusional can you be? She doesn't want you." I wasn't that mad anymore, now I just felt sorry for him. Did he really think Max wanted him? Poor soul.
"I do Fang, I really do and when I get her, she'll be happy to come with me. Then when we get home, I'll ask her to be my wife. " I was glad Iggy thoguht the violent part was over because I jumped at Dylan and pinned him to the wall by his toga. "Oooooh, there's that temper again." I come close to his face so there is no way he could not hear the next words I'm about to say.
"Dylan, there is no way Max would pick you over me. She loves me for who I am and there is no way she would turn her back on me, so whatever thought you had about having her can just die now because it won't happen. Do you understand me?" His eyes lock with mine and I'm sure he can see that I'm serious. There was venom all over my voice. I waited for him to register what I said and the way his pupils dilated he finally understood. What he said suggested that.
"So you won't allow me to have Max?"
"Yes." He smiles.
"Ok then, Fang. I won't force Max out of here. You can have her. I will go home and tell my father what you did. Get your army ready because war is on the horizon." I grit my teeth at him. "Put me down. I must be on my way." I let him and I'm startled to find that I actually picked him up off the ground. He gives me one more smile before turning to the door. "Good bye Fang, Iggy. I don't know if we'll ever see each other again considering one of us might be dead by the time we all reach an agreement. Till then." Then he walks out and leaves me and Iggy in a silent room. At least until Iggy speaks.
"Fang...what did you do?" I shake my head.
"I wouldn't let him have her, Igs."
"But now we'll have to go to war because of this." I nod.
"Father's going to kill me." I hear him sigh.
"It was nice knowing you."
So how'd you like the chapter? How's everyone feeling about Dylan? He's really showing his true colors now, and now Fang is basically responsible for the war that's going to take place. But it was in the name of love! Their love will conquer all! Even war! Well, that's all for now, please review and I'll update as soon as I can.
