A/N I know this is a very short chapter again. I promise the next chapter will be longer again.
Get ready for the emotional roller coaster Alex and Olivia will go trough. And the bomb ( no not a real one) dropped in their lap...
Chapter 23
"What's wrong Lex?" Olivia asks worried.
Alex looks at Professor Cavanaugh and Susan. Both women nods.
"She switched the scans deliberately. The bitch told us about that other scan so we wouldn't find out about your tumor." Alex growls.
"Who did? Doctor Brown? Why?" Olivia asked confused.
"Yes. Doctor Brown did. I don't know why." Alex answers angrily.
"How do you know this?" Olivia asks.
"The scan in your file Doctor Brown has is different from the scan Susan has. Susan was able to find out how that would be possible. The time from your scan is different from the other scan. And it says who changed it." Alex answers.
Olivia is furious but she knows she has to stay calm for as long as possible. She doesn't want a pain attack. She also knows she has do something about this and switches into cop mode.
"Ms. White, may I use the phone? I need to make a few phone calls." Olivia says calmly, but her eyes and voice shows her anger.
"Yes of course, Detective. Let me get it for you. One moment please." Susan says.
Susan walks away to get the phone.
"What are you gonna do, Liv?" Alex asks.
Alex knows Olivia changed into cop mode, she herself went into prosecutor mode the moment she knew what was wrong.
"I'm calling Casey, the Captain and CSU." Olivia answers.
"Casey and the Captain I understand. Why CSU?" Alex asks.
"Because we have a crime scene and we need to get the evidence safe and collected." Olivia says.
"Yes, of course. I should have think about that myself." Alex answers.
Susan comes back with the phone and hands it over to Olivia. Olivia first calls Casey on her cellphone. The phone rings twice and then Casey picks up.
"Novak." Casey answers.
"Casey, it's Liv. Where are you?" Olivia asks.
"Hey Liv, I'm back at your room. Waiting for you. Why?" Casey asks.
"Because we have a case here. I'm gonna call the Captain and CSU too. Doctor Brown deliberately switched the scans." Olivia answers.
"That bitch. Do you know why?" Casey asks.
"So we wouldn't find out that I have a tumor. Why I don't know yet. But what I do know is that she didn't counted on it being discovered. She didn't count on Alex wanting the best neurosurgeon and other Doctors or who ever is needed." Olivia answers.
"What are you going to do now? Besides calling the Captain and CSU." Casey asks.
"You will find that out when we are back in my room. Do you know where my stuff is? Is it in the safe?" Olivia asks.
" You mean your badge, gun and cuffs?" Casey asks.
"Yes." Olivia answers.
"They are in the safe on your room." Casey answers.
"Ok, good. We will be back in about 15 minutes." Olivia answers.
"Ok. See you soon." Casey says.
"Yes. Bye." Olivia says and ends the call.
After ending the call she calls Captain Cragen.
"SVU, Captain Cragen." Cragen answers.
"Captain, it's Olivia. I need you to call the squad together and come to the hospital." Olivia says.
"Why? What's wrong, Olivia?" Cragen asks.
"We have a crime scene here at the hospital. Doctor Brown deliberately switched the scans." Olivia answers.
"She did WHAT?! Ok. I call the squad together and come your room in the hospital. Nick is off duty for a week but the rest will come with me. We will be there in about 20 minutes. See you there. Bye Liv." Cragen says and ends the call.
"Captain will be here with the squad minus Nick in about 20 minutes. I'm gonna call CSU now." Olivia explains.
Alex nods. Olivia calls CSU, specifically Morales.
"Morales." Morales says.
"Morales, it's Detective Olivia Benson, SVU. I need you to come to the Mercy Hospital. We have a crime scene here. Can you get a complete team here?" Olivia asks.
"Yes, of course Detective Benson. What do we've got?" Morales asks.
"A Doctor deliberately switched scans. Mine to be exact." Olivia answers.
"What? I call the team together. We will be there in 30 minutes, Detective." Morales answers.
"Thank you. See you then. Goodbye." Olivia says and ends the call.
"I'm done with making phone calls here. Thank you for using your phone, Ms White." Olivia says.
"No need to thank me, Detective Benson. But your welcome." Susan answers.
" Alright, let's get back to my room. I need to do something before everyone is here." Olivia says.
Alex looks at Olivia and raises an eyebrow.
"What are you up to, Detective?" Alex asks.
"Bring me back to my room and you will find that out, Counselor." Olivia answers smugly.
"I'm not sure if it is a good thing or not. But alright, lets get back." Alex says.
Professor Cavanaugh get the brakes off and Olivia thanks Susan for everything she has done and then the trio leaves. Alex walks next to Olivia and Professor Cavanaugh rides the bed. They are back at Olivia's room 5 minutes later. Casey is waiting in Olivia's room as she said she would be.
"Hey, Liv. Hi Alex. What's gonna happen next?" Casey asks.
"In 15 minutes the Captain and the squad will be here. In 25 minutes CSU will be here. So before they are here I need to do something first. Did you found it? And have you called Donnelly?" Olivia asks.
"Yes and yes. Donnelly will be here in 25 minutes approximately, she said. I've putted everything in the top drawer of your nightstand." Casey answers.
"Ok. Thank you so much for getting them." Olivia says.
"Do you need me here, Detective?" Cavanaugh asks.
"Well, we need you here when the whole motley crew arrives. I know you need to look at the scans so If you can be here in about 30 minutes then after they are going to do what they have to do we can discus what you have found out and I'll fill you in with what you need to know." Olivia answers.
"Alright, I'll be back in 30 then. I should be done with the scans by then. Try not to stress to much Detective. I don't want you to get an pain attack if it can be prevented. I know there is a change you will have it anyway with what's happening but lets not help it a hand shall we?" Cavanaugh answers.
"I'll do the best I can. See you soon Angie." Olivia says.
"Yes. Good luck everyone. And I'm truly sorry for everything that happened." Cavanaugh says.
"It wasn't your fault, Professor." Alex says.
"I know. But I hate it that a fellow colleague is doing this. Alright, I'll go now." Cavanaugh says and walks out of the room. Closing the door behind her.
Olivia opens the top drawer of her nightstand and pulls out the little box. She motions for Alex to take a seat in the chair and carefully climbs out of her bed so she stands in front of the blonde ADA. Alex wants to protest but one look of the Detective stops her from doing it. Olivia takes Alex left hand in her own.
"Alex, I know we are together very short. That I haven't take you out on a proper first date yet. But with everything that is going on and a lot of things that will be uncertain I don't want you to have more worries then necessary." Olivia says.
Alex looks at the strong Detective and knows what she's gonna do. Cerulean eyes are getting watery while Olivia continues.
"I don't want someone denying you anything because your officially not related to me. Even though you are my first MPA. I know I love you with all my heart and everything I am. I know I want for ever with you. I know I want you by my side for the rest of my life, each and every day. Yes I know that it is very quick and a very big step forwards in our relationship but I'm sure about this. In fact I'm sure about this a very long time. I was gonna ask you out on a date the same evening that you were shot. And I have a something in my possession since a week before that evening. You are the smartest, most intelligent, strongest, bravest, sexiest, most stunningly and beautiful woman I have ever seen. You have the most beautiful cerulean eyes I have ever seen, that change in different shades along with your emotions." Olivia says.
Olivia let Alex hand go to open the little box and hold it in front of the younger blonde with right hand. Taking Alex's left hand back in her own.
"Alexandra Maria Cabot, will you do me the honor and make me the happiest and luckiest woman on earth and become my wife? Will you marry me?" Olivia asks, looking in now stormy blue eyes.
"Yes, I will become your wife. Yes, I will marry you, Olivia Benson." Alex answers.
Alex raises up and with both hands she grabs Olivia's face and captures her lips in a searing open mouth kiss. Putting everything she feels for this wonderful strong woman. When Olivia let go of Alex she takes the ring out of the box and gently takes Alex left hand of her face and holds it up. Putting the ring on Alex left ring finger and gives it a kiss before she let Alex hand go. Alex looks at her rings and gasps.
It's a golden band with a cerulean Sapphire, the same color as Alex eyes, surrounded with seven small 1 karat diamonds.
"Liv, it's so beautiful. Did you really had it for this long?" Alex whispers.
"Yes, I saw it somewhere a week before that night, I had have it changed I kept it in my safe at home." Olivia answers.
"Liv, when do you want to get married? If you need a surgery tomorrow maybe we don't have the time to get married." Alex ask a little worried.
"It's already taken care of, Lex. Liz is coming and marry us tonight. I only asked Casey to call her so you wouldn't find out and so she knows there is something else she is coming for." Olivia answers.
"You were pretty sure about this weren't you? Asking Liz before you asked me." Alex says.
"Well, actually I wasn't. But Liz was. She said there was no way you wouldn't say yes. I asked her if she would marry us if you should say yes. And she was certain that you would. So she said she come over here." Olivia answers.
"How could she know that? She knew we are together shortly. How could she know I would say yes?" Alex asks.
Casey smiles and shakes her head.
"First, congratulations to the both of you. Second, everyone with eyes and brains knows you would say yes, accept for Detective Badass here. You two have been mooning over each other for over an decade." Casey smirks.
When Alex and Olivia want to react there is a knock on the door before it opens. Cragen walks inside with Munch, Fin and Rollins walking in behind him.
"Benson, good to see you. Although I would prefer it under different circumstances. And what the hell are you doing out of your bed, Detective?" Cragen asks.
"Good to see you too Captain and the rest of you guys. And to answer your question, not that I have to, I needed to ask Alex something." Olivia answers.
"And ya need to do that out of your bed?" Amanda asks.
"Yes, Rollins. Clearly I had, otherwise I wouldn't be out of my bed, would I?" Olivia answers, getting back into her bed.
It was silent for a few seconds before Fin reacts.
"Damn woman. I know why you needed to be out of your bed. Look at Alex's left ring finger." Fin says pointing at said finger.
"Congratulations Olivia and Alex. Damn Fin, you were right. Shit, I shouldn't have said that." Munch says, with a deer looking into the headlights look in is eyes.
Olivia looks at Munch, Fin, Cragen and Rollins. They all look equally uncomfortable and a little scared.
"What the hell? Tell me that you all didn't do what I think you have done." Olivia growls.
"Damn, are we in trouble now." Casey mutters under her breath.
Olivia looks at Casey. The moment she sees the emerald green eyes she knows Casey was in it too.
"Damn you, Novak. You too! Is there anyone not involved with this? More importantly how long is this going on?" Olivia asks sternly.
"You don't wanna know the answers to that." Casey mumbles.
"Yes I do. I wouldn't have asked it if I didn't. But we talk about this later, Counselor. We have other things to do now. Don't think you are getting away with this, all of you." Olivia says giving them all a death glare.
Alex doesn't get what is going on.
"Liv, what are you talking about? And why are they looking like this at you?" Alex asks.
"They have been betting on us, Lex. That's what's going on. And they didn't want me to find that out because they all know I will have their asses for it. But like I said, we deal with this later. Right now there are more important things to handle. I call Angie and ask her to get Doctor Brown in here." Olivia answers.
Alex looks surprised for a moment, then she glares at them too before she replies to Olivia.
"Alright you do that. You are right we can handle this later." Alex says.
"Oh and just so you all know, by doing this you all give me permission to arrest Doctor Brown myself. And I don't want one word, one word as a protest. Did I make myself clear?!" Olivia asks sternly.
Everyone nods. Not wanting Olivia's wrath over them. Olivia pushes the button and they all wait for Professor Cavanaugh to come inside in silence. A few minutes later Professor Cavanaugh comes inside. She immediately feels the tense atmosphere.
"What's going here, Detective?" Cavanaugh asks.
"They all are afraid of my wrath coming at them later. Accept of Alex. But they are afraid for hers too. Turns out they all have been betting on us. And they knew how we think of that. One of them let something slip and I figured it out immediately. But enough about that now. Could you get Doctor Brown in here for me, please?" Olivia explains.
"By the look on their and your faces and knowing a bit how you could react, I would say they are in trouble later. But they know that already. I will get Doctor Brown for you, Detective." Cavanaugh says, a small smile around her lips.
"Thank you." Olivia says.
Professor Cavanaugh nods and walks out of the room. She comes back with Doctor Brown a couple of minutes later. The professor walking behind Doctor Brown. To make sure she won't turn around and walk away, she knows why the Doctor is here. Doctor Brown sees that the room is full of people and she knows that Olivia found out what she had done. At least a part of it. She decides to act innocent.
"Detective, Professor Cavanaugh told me you wanted to see me. What can I do for you this time?" Doctor Brown says sweetly.
Olivia of course isn't buying the act. Neither does Alex, Casey or the rest inside the room. Olivia nods at Professor Cavanaugh who nods back. Knowing that Olivia wants her to stay in the door opening. Olivia walks slowly to Doctor Brown.
"Doctor Brown, you are under arrest. Please, turn around and put your hands behind your back." Olivia says.
Doctor Brown turns around and put her hands behind her back. Olivia cuffs her while she reads her the Miranda rights.
"Is there something you want to add now?" Olivia asks.
"Yes there is. I know my rights and that what I say will used against me in a court of law. I think you would prefer to here this without anyone else present." Doctor Brown says.
Olivia considers it for a moment before she answers.
"Alright. Everyone, accept for Alex and Casey, wait outside for two minutes. Angie, should CSU arrive in the mean time can you show them Doctor Browns office, Susan White's and where ever they need to be? One of the other Detective will accompany you to all the places." Olivia asks.
"Yes, of course Detective. Consider it done." Cavanaugh answers.
"Olivia, are you sure?" Cragen asks.
"Yes, Cap. I'm sure. I have a feeling I want to hear this privately. But I want Alex and Casey with me. For personal and legal reasons." Olivia answers.
"I understand that. Alright, we'll wait outside. Call us back in when you are ready." Cragen answers.
"Yes, Sir. Thank you." Olivia says.
Everyone accept for Alex and Casey leaves the room. Alex takes place next to Olivia on the bed. Casey takes a seat at the other side of Olivia in a chair.
"Alright, Doctor. I remind you again, although I know you are aware of it, that everything you say now can and will be used against you in a court of law and that you have the right on attorney present with you. That being said, what is it that you want to tell me?" Olivia asks.
"I know that Detective. I know that even with a attorney present, now or in the courtroom, there is enough against me. You found this out and I know that you will find it out without me telling it, but I will safe you the work. There are two things you need to know. Before I tell you this, you should know that I don't plead for insanity and I won't let my attorney do it for me neither. I know perfectly what I did.
The first thing is that the man you killed and shot you twice was the brother of my sister's husband. Second, in a few days you will know it for sure, but you might be pregnant with our child." Doctor Brown says, laughing sickly after saying the last sentence.
