"Red, you are the center of my universe. I've made tons of mistakes, but I needed to learn a few things. I took you for granted, and I will never do that again." He moved in to kiss her, but she pulled away.

"No, we can't do that in front of Barbra Jean. I know how badly it hurts to watch. I don't want to break her heart like mine was over and over."

Barbra Jean beamed her thousand-watt smile. "That's okay, Reba. I got over Brock a long time ago, but you never did. Besides, I got an upgrade when I hooked up with Dr. Hunky. I also saw you all over him that one time. I'm okay."

Reba blushed, smiling shyly. "I feel the same way because I got an upgrade, too."

"Huh?" Brock asked, scratching his head.

"You, you're the upgrade. I went from Jack to you. You treat me like I matter to you now. He stopped, and that's okay because we're here now like this." She grabbed his hand and ran it over her belly.

"Kiss your man, Reba!" yelled Barbra Jean.

Reba's lips captured his in a warm rush of emotion.

The answers to the questions above will be revealed as you read the story. Here is "Enchantment!"

Now on with our next chapter-

A few days later, Reba was sitting in Dr. Morgan's classroom. The bell rang.

"Miss McKinney, can you stay for a moment? I'd like to talk to you before a second. I'll give you a pass to your next class." His no-nonsense tone was clear.

Reba gathered her books and rose from her seat with the rest of the students. She separated from the sea of rushing teens and sat at a desk directly in front of his. She pulled out a paper with a 66% on it. "I'd like to talk to you about my paper."

He sat in a chair next to her. "That's why I called you in here. I'm very concerned about you. I think that you have the wrong idea about marriage and family. I can see why. You're young and you haven't experienced enough yet before making these types of decisions. Your paper shows a clear lack of critical thought or research into young marriage and parenthood. There's also a rumor going around school that you're pregnant."

Reba crossed her arms in front of her. "I don't have to answer that. My life outside of school walls is nobody's business, but my own. Do you know what Mrs. Hodge does to pregnant girls? Some people just like to cause trouble with rumors. What's wrong with my paper? I put a lot of thought and work into writing this. Cap and I have worked on a lot of issues during this project."

"You're a couple of kids having a baby, hiding a pregnancy, and just too foolish to see what's up ahead. Whether you're aware or not, your paper gave you away. You have to know that life is not about happily ever after."

Reba cleared her throat and abruptly stood up from her chair. "I think that we've shown remarkable progress for two people who clearly had a lot of issues in working together as a team at all. I know that there is no happily ever after. It takes a lot of work, a lifetime's worth. I was foolish enough to believe in fairy tale endings a long time ago. Things are different now. A woman can learn a lot from being cheated on. Imagine losing your husband to a blonde bimbo. Everything you worked for and cherished is gone." She crossed her arms over her expanded bust, fixing her familiar fierce glare on him.

He narrowed his eyes at her, squinting against the light. He chuckled.

"What is so gosh darn funny?" she asked in her Okie twang.

He gulped and examined her from head to toe again. He shook his head. "Nothing, it's just that you sound just like Reba."

"That would be because I am Reba, you mo-ron."

He gulped again, and chuckled to shake off his reaction. "I mean my Reba."

"So do I. Maybe you should come closer so I can smell you better. You know how much I like that," she said in a sultry tone.

His eyes popped out for a minute. "Reba?"

"In the flesh. Well, sort of."

Jack sat on the edge of his desk. "How did you get like that?"

"Heck if I know, I picked up a book and tried to read a page in a strange language. Then I ended up like this."

"And about your present condition? You're not that kind of woman. But rocking the cradle, really?"

"You referred to me as a slut to my face. What do you care? To set the record straight, aren't you having a baby with Barbra Jean? What's the age difference between the two of you?"

Dr. Morgan was stunned into silence.

"At least I happened to end up in bed with someone closer to my real age. Well, he's a couple of years older than me."

"You mean, that's Brock... Cap is Brock?"

"You are a sharp one, ain't ya? But this time, he's the only one I want to do the smell and kiss thing with."

"You and Brock?"

"I'm as surprised as you are, but he kinda grew on me. He's caring, fun, and nice to look at, if you get past all the stuff from before."

"It's weird to be having this conversation with you, but I think that you actually understand. That's how I feel about Barbra Jean, too."

"Has she stopped taking your gum?" Reba teased.

"Nope, I think that's the most endearing thing about her. She has a past. Everybody does, but she's sweet and I don't have to tell you that because you already know. The gum thing is special because I'm the only guy she's ever done that to. So, it turned out that you did have some feeling left over for Brock, huh? You and Brock? How was that?"

"Weird at first, but then it was just like a missing puzzle piece that fit. I actually feel complete sometimes, especially now." She rubbed her belly.

"Barbra Jean will be pleased to know that. She's been almost desperate for a way to fix your life for years now. She feels responsible for ruining your marriage with Brock. I think she'd do anything to fix it, move heaven and earth and all."

"I think she can relax now. We're okay. I'm very happy."

"Good. She's been into all kinds of mystic, new age stuff lately and fixated on bringing you and Brock back together, at least now I know why."

"Hey, Reba, I'll read the paper again and give it the grade it deserves."

"You better, or I'll sic angry Barbra Jean on ya." She giggled.

"At least now I know why the marriage counseling didn't work. He wasn't invested in saving anything with her."

"Actually, Jack, you did a great job. You helped those two discover what they really wanted in a relationship and that led them to true happiness, just not with each other. You especially did a great job with Brock. He's finally husband material."

"Glad to be of service. You two seem to be coming along nicely. I'll expect even more from the pair of you now. To all the others, I'm just a teacher. But for you two, I'm in the role of marriage counselor too."

"Whatever! Brock is probably wearing a hole in the floor right now. I gotta go."

The door flew open with Brock bursting in. "We're about 10 minutes late for class now."

"We had a nice talk. Everything's fine." She took his head before turning back to Dr. Morgan. "Thanks."

"What happened in here? Are you sure you're okay?" he asked.

Reba nodded.

Brock picked her straight up off her feet, thoroughly kissing her lips.

When they parted, Reba was speechless.

Brock smirked. "He may be a real ladies' man, but I still got it."

"Yeah, you do. You got me. You're worth a hundred of him, but you gotta kiss me again."

Brock had managed to carry them into the hallway during the kiss without her even realizing it. They were halfway into the next kiss when they heard a woman's throat clear. "There will be none of that in the hallways of my school. I should know better when it comes to you people. I heard some rumors going around about you. It seems you're following in Cheyenne's footsteps and I'd like to talk to you about it in my office now." Mrs. Hodge pointed down the hall. She turned and marched away, leaving them to follow.

Reba's cell phone rang with Barbra Jean's eager face on the screen. Jack's words came flooding back to her. "Barbra Jean, the jig is up. Where's the book?" Reba used her fierce tone again with the bubbly blonde.

Brock's mouth flew open. All he could hear was Barbra Jean's stammering.

Keep those reviews coming in to read more!

Author's note: You may not agree with the conclusion, but I promise to make things right in the sequel. Yes, there will be a sequel to this story. I just haven't thought of a title yet. I have placed some references in the chapter to events that happened in the past. That's where the sequel comes in. Reread chapter 24 to find the clues. Each clue leads to more story events in the sequel. The book will return Reba and Brock to adults and send them back to 2001.
