Summary:
Kagome is a teacher and care taker of Midoriko's preschool. When she's asked to do a favor to fill in for one of the bridesmaids for Sango's friend. She has to walk down the aisle with the bride's future-stubborn and petulant- brother-in-law, Inuyasha. Things are about to get interesting. Could these two possibly find love?

Chapter 25 - One Winter Kiss

"A time for giving, a time to be with the ones you love," Kagome said as she walked around the room. The children smiled at her and giggled joyously to themselves.

It was only a week after the dinner at the ramen place and the encounter with Maaya. Kagome was letting the preschoolers make holiday cards for their families and friends. She smiled when Midori had ran up to her to give her a card that she made.

"It is lovely Midori," Kagome said, smiling in thanks and the little five year old girl gave her a big hug, then running to her table to color some more.

There was a knock on the classroom door and Kagome walked over to open it. "Sango," Kagome said and smiled at her friend who entered the classroom.

"Kagome, it's good to see you again," Sango happily told her.

"You saw me yesterday," Kagome bluntly said. Sango waved her hand,"That was yesterday and today is today, can you believe that it is going to be Christmas tomorrow! I wonder what Miroku would do this year."

"This year…what did he do last year?" Kagome asked. "Well he bought us a box of cho-"

Kagome held her hand up and slightly blushed, knowing Miroku…."Never mind, I changed my mind, I don't think I'd like to hear it." Sango blushed and bit her bottom lip cheekily and she laughed nervously.

"So what are you getting him for Christmas," Sango asked her raven haired friend.

Confusion contorted on her face,"Him? Souta? I got him another soccer ball that he always wanted," she piled up papers that had Christmas tree drawings on them. Sango sighed,"Kagome…Kagome, you clueless clueless girl," she draped an arm around Kagome and smiled. "I mean a certain half demon you and I both know."

Kagome's mouth formed an 'O' and she scratched her cheek,"I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know," Miroku said as he walked with his friend the mall. "Tell me again, why in the seven hells are we walking around here," Inuyasha said.

"I need to get Sango something and while you are here, you can get Kagome something as well my friend," Miroku said, he passed by a lingerie store and he stopped,"Do you think she'll-" he was pulled by his ear by an irritated hanyō.

"Get a move on bozo," Inuyasha said.

Miroku sighed and let the half demon drag him away,"She would've liked it." Inuyasha growled in annoyance,"I don't know, but I would know that she'd beat you to a pulp you idiot."

"Alright, now kindly let go of m-" Miroku was dropped on the floor and he groaned,"I said kindly."

Inuyasha folded his arms across his chest and turned his head to the side,"Keh." He noticed a store just in front of them and his brows furrowed.

Miroku noticed the look on his face and grinned,"Looks like you figured what to give Kagome," he elbowed Inuyasha in the arm.

"Do you think…keh! Why am I asking a bozo like you," Inuyasha said, walking away from the store.

"Because I am the only bozo around to help you and- wait, I take that back! Inuyasha, wait up!" Miroku had to think of what he said, I'm no bozo.

It was well after six in the night and four people, including a fox kit, sat around the table. Kagome smiled at the young kit who proceeded to eat a chicken leg eagerly.

"Kagome…- can you pass me the octopus looking thing," Shippo said, munching away.

The said woman laughed and passed small sausages and smiled as she did,"Here you go Shippo." The fox kit took a few from the plate and he plucked them in his mouth.

Kagome looked over at Sango who was giving a spoonful of some type of dish she didn't know, given by Miroku. She watched her friend blush and she covered her mouth to suppress a giggle.

Inuyasha slurped the last cupful of ramen and looked at everyone for a split second, before returning to his beloved ramen cup.

Once the dinner was done, everyone slumped back and let out a content sigh. Shippo clapped his hands and looked at the time,"Okay, we ate our food, now can we open our presents?"

Everyone exchanged looks and gave the fox kit a curt nod, whom jumped from his seat and ran to the piles of presents by the tree.

"By the way Sango, I thought Kohaku would be here," Kagome said to her friend, picking up the plates while the men went over to sit by the couch.

"He went with our father to this show, I didn't want to go. What about Souta?" Sango questioned. The two went into the kitchen and began to wash the dishes.

With a washcloth, Kagome did the drying while Sango washed the plates,"He's at a friends house, my mother and grandfather were invited to a Christmas party and like always, I know when they leave me a note by the table."

"Sango! Kagome!"

The two women heard the active fox kit shout for them. "Come on!" They exchanged smiles and hastily went over to where everyone else was.

"Yay!" Shippo ripped apart a present, given by Inuyasha and he smiled in thanks when it was a control car. "Thanks!"

Inuyasha grunted and crossed his arms, slightly blushing at the looks his friends were giving him. "Whatever runt." He side glanced at the kit and gave him a half smile.

"Kagome, this one is for you," Shippo smiled slyly,"It's from Inuyasha." Kagome blushed at glanced in the half demon's direction,"Um..t-thank you."

Trying not to let his emotions get to him, the half demon turned his face away, sticking his nose in the air. He didn't want the others to see him blushing just because of the way she looked at him.

Kagome carefully unwrapped the tiny box and was left breathless when it was a locket. Sango squealed in delight and covered her mouth,"So sweet."

The raven haired girl blushed furiously and then opened it, noticing a photo inside. The photo that was taken by Maaya when they had breakfast at the cafe.

"How did you-"

"Maaya had another copy done for me, luckily she still had the photo in that camera of hers," Inuyasha told her.

Kagome got up from her seat and walked over to him, quickly she kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you, I love it." Then gave him a hug. The half demon was blushing and he gulped at the girl that hugged him, he didn't stop himself when he hugged her back.

"Aw now Kagome, that was no kiss," the two didn't notice Miroku standing behind them.

Sango gaped and crossed her arms, arching a brow,"What is he up to."

Shippo had his full attention to the presents he was given and was buried under the wraps and paper.

Miroku smiled slyly and raised a mistletoe over the two,"Now you can not break tradition."

Kagome blushed, the pink color spreading across her cheeks, she fidgeted at the closeness of the Inu-Hanyō had held her. Inuyasha sent glares at Miroku's face and turned around,"Keh like I'd kiss her."

"Uh oh," Sango muttered and she looked over at Miroku and shook her head,"Did I ever tell you that you're an idiot?"

Miroku patted her hand,"Don't worry dear Sango, he'll kiss her, we just have to wait." Sango sighed,"I wouldn't be in your shoes now." Miroku turned to see the half demon walked over to him, cracking his knuckles and a expression written 'death' on it.

Kagome sighed, I knew that he didn't like me. It's not like I like him at all. Stupid Miroku. She turned to Sango,"Thank you for this before Christmas dinner, I loved it. I'll see you tomorrow." Kagome turned and left, closing the door behind her. She wasn't even walking out of the hall when she heard Inuyasha cursing wildly at Miroku.

Inuyasha gave one last sucker punch to Miroku and tossed him aside. He walked to Sango with his arms crossed and stopped when he didn't see the raven haired girl.

"She left," Sango answered for him when he was about to question her. "Here, before she left, she said to give you this," Sango tossed him a box and stood there, glaring at him.

Knowing the woman for a long time, if looks could kill, he'd be dead. He unwrapped the paper around the box and opened it. It was a silver chain that had his name on in.

"Well, aren't you going to go after her?" Sango asked him.

"Uh," he said and looked down at the floor. Sango's eye twitched,"So…that's all you have to say. UH! Uh!" she rolled up a newspaper that was near her and whacked him on the shoulder,"You go fix this mister or I'll swear to you that I will beat you to a bloody pulp."

She grabbed him by the back of his shirt and walked over to the door, she opened it and threw him out. "Now go catch up to her or you won't be allowed back in."

"Wait! This is my house-" Inuyasha said, growling at the woman, but she had already closed the door.

Kagome rubbed her shoulders with her hands,"Great, I can't see where my car is in all this snow and wind," she squinted her eyes.

"Talking to yourself wench," she heard. Kagome drew in a quick breath and turned her head around.

"Inuyasha. What are you doing out here?" Kagome asked him, she thought he'd stay inside, he was already in his own home.

"You left before I can thank you," he walked up to her.

Kagome lowered her head,"Well now you said it, your welcome. If you'll excuse me, I'll be-"

Blue eyes widened when she felt his lips on hers. Her heart began to pick up pace and she stood there frozen in shock from the kiss he gave her.

"What was that for," she whispered after they broke apart. Her forehead was on his chest. "Don't wanna break tradition," he grinned at her.

Kagome nodded,"Right."

"But I'm not doing it just for the mistletoe tradition," he whispered in her ear. Kagome gulped hard and bit her lip nervously. She was about to say one thing more, but he silenced her with another kiss.

Two people stood standing in the snow, sharing a winter kiss under the full moons light.

It took me so long to get this chapter up. Something was going wrong everytime I tried to go on to update and this error occurred. I'm glad I got to finally post this. It was suppose to be up yesterday, but that happened. Thank you for reading everyone! I hope you had a Merry Christmas.
