Chapter 25: Killian's Game

"So you were a Baby?" Gwen asked her boyfriend, eyebrows rising high on her face.

"He was adorable." Wade interjected, munching on an apple at the table the trio was seated at.

"You are not helping me right now Wade." Peter tossed a carrot at the other teen.

"Well you were." Wade smirked into the apple.

"So that is why they all kept lying to me, damn I really wanted to see that." Gwen pouted, snuggling into her boyfriends' side. Peter draped his arm over his blonde's girlfriend's shoulders, holding her close.

"I do have a video." Wade spoke up and Peter couldn't help but drop his head onto the tabletop.

Gwen squealed and wiggled out of her boyfriend's grip, moving over to Wade's side where he was bringing out his cell phone. Gwen and Wade awed at the video of Baby Peter while Teen Peter couldn't help but slam his head against the table repeatedly.

"Do you think that the others will have videos and photos I could see?" Gwen asked Wade excitedly.

"I don't doubt it, I'm sure they would be more than pleased to show you them." Wade grinned cheekily.

"I think life was easier as a baby." Peter groaned annoyed at the turn of events.

"Don't forget you have to go find our Professors to get all the work you missed." Gwen reminded him absently, re-watching the video with Wade.

"I'm just going to go do that then, anything is better than this." Peter quickly grabbed his messenger bag and headed towards the doors leading to the school. He walked down the empty halls, heading to gather the work he missed. He was just deciding whom to see first when he spotted Professor Killian leaving his classroom.

"Professor!" Peter called, jogging slightly to catch up with the blonde man.

"Ah Peter, how are you feeling?" Killian asked, turning to see who was calling his name.

"Much better, thank you sir. I was hoping that I could get the work I've missed." Peter asked, adjusting the strap of his bag on his shoulder.

"Oh of course, of course. Please follow me, I do believe they are in my car." Killian said after a moment of thought.

"Sure thing." Peter nodded, following his professor out into the back parking lot.

"This makes things much easier for me Peter." Killian admitted. "I know your adoptive father… Well I doubt he remembers me, but oh I remember him."

Peter backed up a few steps, his spidery senses going into overdrive and the tone of voice Killian had taken was not a good one.

"He made me feel so desperate and there was hardly anything to stop me from taking that one step off that ledge… Now I'm going to make him feel the same as I did and you are going to help me… Spiderman." Killian turned to face Peter, his eyes glowing an orange colour.

"Don't count on it." Peter tensed, ready to spring up into the air and away from this crazy man in front of him. A strong and flaming hand came into Peter's line of sight and the hand attached to the arm grasped Peter's throat tightly. Peter felt his feet leave the ground as he gasped for breath and hands scrambled at the strong one at his throat.

"Don't break his neck Brandt, I need him." Killian scolded.

"No promises." A woman's voice answered and her grip tightened on Peter's throat once more and the lack of air got to Peter and darkness descended.

Maya Hansen was working in her lab when the doors swung open, Killian strolled in whistling a merry tune and Brandt walked in behind him with a young teenaged boy hanging over her shoulder.

"Maya! I've brought you our newest recruit!" Aldrich smiled widely at Maya, who stopped working and stared at the unconscious teen Brandt was now fastening into place on one of the upright metal stretchers.

"He's just a kid!" Maya glared at Aldrich who was preparing the procedure. "Brandt is the one of the only viable result of Extremis! This could kill him!"

"This isn't just any child Maya dear." Aldrich passed over a needle to Brandt who injected it into the teen's elbow. "This is Peter Parker-Stark, the adopted son of Tony Stark whom he cares for very much."

"Tony's son?" Maya looked at the teen with newfound curiosity.

"Yes indeed, but he isn't a normal boy. His DNA is very special. It is a combination of human and spider." Aldrich revealed Peter's secret to Maya.

"Spider? All the more reason not to inject him with Extremis! We have no idea how his DNA works! It could kill him!" Maya objected violently.

"That's the beauty of science. It's all about experimenting!" Aldrich grinned and with a flourish, he injected the vial full of Extremis into Peter's body.

"This is wrong, I agreed to this to help people, not to kill an innocent child!" Maya shook her head, grabbing her jacket and storming out of the lab. Aldrich shook his head at her retreating back.

"Follow her, make sure she doesn't do anything stupid." Killian ordered the woman beside him; she nodded and left the lab as well.

Peter groaned loudly as fire flowed through his veins, his eyes shooting open.

"Ah Peter, I'm so glad you are awake!" Killian clapped his hands.

"Ugh!" Peter groaned in pain as the fire within him flared up over his whole body. "What… Have you… Done to me?" Peter gasped out.

"It's called Extremis, I am most interested in seeing how it merges with your spider DNA." Killian said with sick excitement in his eyes.

"Why… Are… You?" Peter panted, sweat rolling down his face as he started burning up.

"I guess you could blame this all on your adopted father Mr. Tony Stark. He told me to wait on the rooftop for him, but he never came. I became desperate and with Maya Hansen whom Tony also scorned we took her work and applied it. With Extremis people can regrow lost limbs, gain super strength and much more. However some don't survive the process and well they blow up." Killian explained. "It's all rather unfortunate, but that is the price of progress."

"Ahhh!" Peter screamed in pain, throwing his head backwards as his skin started to glow a light red.

"Hm, your body seems to be rejecting it… What a pity, I had such plans for you Peter. You were to lead my army of Extremis warriors against the world, taking it over. Having you destroy Tony Stark would just be the icing on the cake, but instead I will record his only son dying." Killian told Peter holding up a small recording device.

The Extremis attacked Peter's cells once more causing the teen to scream in agony as his body burned fiercely. The flames were slowly coming out from under his skin, crawling up his forearms and the pain slowly receded, but it was still there.

"Amazing." Killian breathed out. "Your spider DNA is merging with the Extremis cells. You're DNA is adapting… This is remarkable. With your DNA I can create a whole new kind of solider. One that with you leading them will make the world mine." He shut off the recording device after hitting a few buttons on it.

Peter's mind felt like someone had taken a blender to. All he could manage at this time was a death glare towards Killian between deep heaving breaths.

Maya Hansen peered out of the cab window at the huge Avenger Tower in New York City. As much as she resented Tony in a way, she wasn't about to let his son become some experiment in Killian's sick game.

"Right here!" Maya called to the cabbie, which pulled over and she paid him before running into the lobby of the tower.

"I need to see Mr. Stark right now! It's about his son!" Maya spoke into an intercom, the elevator to her right dinged as it opened. Maya looked over her shoulder as she hurried into the elevator. She was biting her lower lip, tapping her foot rapidly.

"What about Peter?" Tony Stark was in front of Maya the moment she stepped foot onto the floor the elevator stopped on.

"Aldrich Killian." Maya stated seriously. Tony's eyes widened slightly as he racked his brain and remembered who it was from his past.

"Maya Hansen?" Tony asked curiously.

"I'm surprised Tony, it was only one night after all." Maya shook her head, feeling slightly flattered. "I have a lot to tell you and we have to move quickly. Killian took my research to another level and Extremis came into being."

"The ability to change cells to regrow missing limbs… The one you were working on with that plant." Tony remembered.

"Yes, I agreed to human trials when it was ready to help people… Killian wants to use it to create an army of super humans… Not many people survived the trials… He is using Extremis on your adopted son and with his spider DNA, I am unsure how his body is going to react to it." Maya explained hurriedly.

"Where is Killian?" Tony asked with a dark undertone to his words.

"I can show you!" Maya promised, turning to head back to the elevator but freezing in her spot as an orange heat built up behind the closed doors.

"Move back now!" She shouted a warning, grabbing Tony by the arm and the two leapt over the back of the nearby couch just in time as the elevator doors exploded outwards. Burning hot shards of metal scattered around the room.

"Looks like Killian was right in thinking you would do something stupid." Brandt sighed as she stepped onto the common floor.

"Brandt is one of the few successes we've had so far… She has super strength, it won't be easy to kill her." Maya whispered to Tony.

"J, you know what to do." Tony spoke aloud, eyes locked on Brandt.

"Yes Sir." Jarvis's British voice coming from everywhere caught Brandt off guard, making her look around just as a repulsor beam fired from behind a hidden wall panel, sending her flying backwards a couple of feet. Doors flew open exposing the suited up Avengers all ready for a battle, while the mark 42 Ironman suit flew from another wall panel, attaching itself to Tony.

"Take her out, we can't waste time. Peter is in trouble with someone from my past." Tony said with his Ironman voice filter.

"That kid is like the biggest trouble magnet I've ever met." Clint snapped open his bow.

"He's never leaving the tower again." Steve grumbled, holding his shield at the ready.
