Disclaimer: Plot twist I own everything. In the Universe. Boom. ...Okay I don't. #spoileralert. I don't own Pitch Perfect, only my plot, OCs and some zombies :) oh and a light up Harry Potter wand, which is awesome.
After Doctor Hastings' announcement he led the group, still flanked by expressionless guards, down yet another immaculate corridor and into a large white room. There were many scientists working at computers, typing furiously and calling out to colleagues. There seemed to be some commotion in the lab as other scientists who were not sat at their desks were shouting medical facts at the ones at their desks, yelling angrily to which the other scientists did not respond.
In the centre of the large white room was a large glass case. In the middle of it, kept in place by metal bonds around her arms, legs, neck and thrashing torso, was Beca.
Doctor Hastings stepping further into the room and shouted above all the noise, silencing all the humans immediately, the only sound now coming from Beca who was growling and snarling as she pulled against her bonds. Chloe shoved past the doctor, followed quickly by Aubrey, and ran up to the glass. She tapped the glass to get Beca's attention and when she had it, when the brunette's blue/white eyes locked onto hers, the zombie almost immediately began to calm down. She took deep breaths and gritted her teeth together, keeping eye contact with the only human in the room she trusted.
"What is going on here ladies and gentlemen?" Doctor Hastings asked, barely disguising his frustrations.
"It is too early Sir, if we test this cure now without further test there is no telling what could happen to Subject 18!" a woman shouted, her eyes wide and panicked.
"We will cure her, that is what will happen Doctor Welson, we will have the cure to the virus which stole our world!"
"But Sir," another scientist said, stepping forwards as he did, "there is no way of knowing the effects this will have on her DNA frame, it could either cure or mutilate her even more!"
"That is nonsense Doctor Francis." Doctor Hastings almost growled, taking a step closer to them.
"No it is not Sir!" a third Doctor yelled, his face contouring into anger, "You are putting too much hope into this! We do not need hope from you Sir but scientific proof that this is an eligible cure! You are desperate for a cure to fix what this facility started but pulling at loose strings and holding onto hope will not help us here Sir!"
Doctor Hastings took a deep breath through his gritted teeth and clenched his fists.
"Does anyone else agree with these people?" he asked, watching as four more scientists hesitantly raised their hands, he glanced behind him to one of the guards and nodded towards them.
All but two of the guards brought their guns up slightly higher on their body's and began to march over to the scientists, their movements robot like as they grabbed the now screaming scientists and dragged them from the lab.
"Now, where was I?" he asked, turning around with a slightly more sadistic grin on his face which sent shivers down the spines of the remaining members of the group, how he could shift his emotions so quickly unnerved them all.
"Oh yeas, the cure! Well, we deduced that the virus can be cured very much the same way to cure a snake bite, take some venom from the snake that bit you and you will be fine. So, we took DNA samples from every known type of zombie from the Juggernaut, to the Runners, to Hunters, Dead Workers, Crawlers, Impaled, even Howlers and many, many more. We mixed them all together in one concoction and here we have, the cure."
As he was speaking another had Doctor come over to them with a white suite case, Doctor Hastings opened it and held out a vile with blue liquid in it, holding it at eye level.
"Is it safe?" Stacie asked, glancing to the zombified girl it the tank with worry in her gaze.
"Most certainly, if my calculations are correct then it should all be over quickly." Doctor Hastings announced, walking rather quickly to the glass container which held their friend and over to a man dressed completely in white with a white helmet which had a black visor covering his head. He handed the vile to him and the man nodded, placing his hand to a panel by the door to open it and stepping inside.
Beca's reaction was immediate, she tore her eyes away from Chloe and snarled at the man, her eyes burning with anger and hunger as she thrashed, snapping her teeth together threateningly. The man touched something on his wrist and a metal plate flipped up from the neck brace she wore, covering Beca's growling mouth and muffling the sounds she was making.
Chloe was pressed up as close as she could be to the glass, her hand up against it as she watched her with wide eyes. She tried to catch Beca's with her own but the brunette was too focused on the man slowly, almost mockingly, approaching.
"Why is she acting so violent? She was never this bad with us." Aubrey asked for her, and Chloe was thankful as she did not think she could speak past the lump which had slowly started to form in her throat.
"We may have accidently caused her baser instincts to come to surface when we captured her. It seems to be a zombie defence mechanism." Doctor Hastings answered from where he stood, he was also unable to take his eyes off of Subject 18, but unlike Chloe he was able to somewhat veil his excitement.
The man in the room had finally reached Beca and rather roughly stabbed her in the throat with the injection, right on her main artery, and slowly pressed down on it, forcing the cure into her.
They all watched, eyes wide with the Doctors ready to take notes and all on the edge of their seats, waiting for a reaction from the suddenly still girl.
Beca had frozen. The moment the liquid entered her body she felt cold. It started at her neck and spread quickly down her chest, moving to her arms and legs and pinching at her toes and finger tips. Then, after it seemed to pause in its quick movement, and then slowly edged its way up her body. She began to yell. It was horrible. It felt like knifes made of ice were cutting up her body. It only got worse when the cure made its way to her dead heart. A part of it stayed where it was while the other half of the cure moved to her brain and started to attack both parts of her body at the same time.
Unknown to herself at that time, although she was screaming, and it was practically torturing her friends to hear it, her yells had began to become more normal, not the usual screeching drawl from the undead.
But she did not care about anything right now. She pulled at the binds which held her and growled, once again sound like that of a zombie. Her growl cut off when a shock ran through her brain, causing her body to convulse and jolt at the sudden attack.
Chloe now had silent tears streaming down her cheeks, unable to take her eyes away from the scene before her, no matter how much she wanted to.
Beca's eyes then snapped open, searching the space around her wildly. Her pupils were pin pointed but were shifting between that and becoming largely dilated. The colour had changed also, now a mixture of dark blue and white making them look almost grey as they shifted between colours, one moment blue, and the next white.
Then, with one final strike of ice against her brain and heart, she had the feeling that a bucket of cold water had been thrown over her head. And then, the fog cleared. The clouds which had been covering her mind, which had been deluding her ways and controlling her actions in hunger and a need for flesh, was gone.
Gone.
She fell forwards, hair falling over her head and obscuring her face.
"Did it work?" a random Doctor suddenly asked, Doctor Hastings looked to Chloe and took a step out of the way of the door.
"You care about her?" he asked, barely keeping the disgust from his tone, she nodded, "Then you go see."
She did not need telling twice.
Chloe slowly stepped away from the glass, still holding a breath, still not able to believe what she had seen. What could have happened.
She found herself in front of the door, which opened as the man in white stepped out. She took a step inside the room, and noticed immediately how deafeningly quiet it was in there. She door slid shut behind her, making her flinch a little as her ears popped due to the pressure change. She idly thought back to a report she had read once, that if you stay in a silent room for so long, a deadly silent room, then you can become insane.
Enough with the useless facts Beale, go to Beca!
Her heart slapped her around the brain, the metaphor making sense to herself in her mind, and she moved closer to the girl.
When she was close enough she gently put a hand on Beca's forehead, slowly tilting it backwards and brushing the hair out of her face gently. She immediately noticed the blood which had dripped down Beca's chin, and deduced that she must have bit her tongue at some point. She frowned, her thoughts slipping back to moments before when the love of her life was screaming in agony. She balled up her one fist and carried on with her inspection.
She used her other hand to hold Beca's head in place and softly put two fingers to where Beca's pulse point should have been.
At first she felt nothing; and a wave of panic shot down her spine, but then she felt it.
Thump thump. Thump thump.
Tears formed in her eyes. It was impossible, it shouldn't have been real, this should be a dream. But it wasn't. It had actually happened.
Thump thimp. Thump thump.
Beca had been cured.
There was the sound of screeching metal and a cool hand was suddenly wrapped around her wrist in a tight grip. She looked up and saw that Beca's eyes, a mixture of dark blue with white swirls flecking themselves in the colour, were now open, and were staring at her with a glare, a small growl rumbling deep in her throat.
Then she blinked, shook her head and reopened her now completely blue eyes, with a look of confusion over them.
"C- Chloe? Wha- what's going on? Why am I tied down?" she asked, her voice scratchy, she looked to her other hand, the one that was not locked down, and immediately took it away from Chloe's skin, noting the tight grip she had had on it.
Chloe was now the one frozen. Her eyes almost comically wide with tears threatening to overflow. She did not answer Beca; instead she threw her arms around Beca's neck as best she could, her face burying itself in her cool neck. Beca, after a moment of confusion, brought her one hand up and wrapped in around Chloe's waist, tugging at the one held down in annoyance until it suddenly snapped clean off. She pulled Chloe impossibly closer and ran a hand through her hair as the red head cried. She started to hum Titanium lightly under her breath and Chloe let out a watery chuckle, hugging Beca tighter than before.
"I missed you Becs… I- I missed you so damn much." Chloe managed to say around her tears, this seemed to add even more to Beca's confusion.
"Where did I go?" she asked.
Chloe leaned back and she grinned at Beca's ever confused expression, she did not answer her, but instead leaned in, connecting their lips for the first time in many months. But they did not care for the moment, because they were back together, and that was all that mattered.
